Hey guys. So I've been tinkering with the S9+ and its telephoto lens and I've noticed something weird about it...
So basically, I got one of those clip-on lenses for when I still had my S7. So I figured if I used the 2x on the telephoto, it would get 4x. Odd thing is when I switched over the 2x and had the clip-on lens on the main (top) camera with the telephoto lens effectively covered, it still shows an image (which actually looks 4x!). So does that mean that the 2x still shows the feed from the main cam? Doesn't the telephoto lens have its own sensor?

The telephoto is used only when it detects good light conditions, otherwise, it will be a crop of the main sensor.
You can do the test yourself: in good light conditions, change to the 2x and you will see is using the telephoto sensor; now cover it with your finger and you will see your finer approaching and after a couple of milliseconds you will see an image again. This is because the camera detected no light in the telephoto and changed to the main sensor.
Take out your finger from the telephoto and you will see how it changes again.
Anybody here tried some lens for the P20/P20P camera? What model you tried and how does it perform?!?
Here is one using 52mm star 8+ under night mode
i'd love love a good wide angle one. i almost regret selling my v30 and upgrading to this. never use the zoom, but would have used wide angle as my default. anyone? the post above looks good clean enough at 52mm

IMHO, the p20 pro cameras all work in tandem, at least the 40mp + 10mp monochrome. You will suffer from diminished quality since your universal lens addon is only attached to one lens.

It wasnt anounced that they worked together, but they have in the past so they probably do. We'll see, I might try one if nobody else does.

You can try but based on what I know, you will be making some sacrifices here and there.
For instance, there are a bunch of sensors used for colour detection and a focus sensor sandwiched between the colour and zoom lens. If you use those clip on lenses you will be blocking the sensors.
The cameras I'm 99.999999999% sure they work together. That's the whole point of their marketing. A dedicated monochrome sensor to enhance image quality etc etc.
With multiple cameras in our phones these days, aftermarket add on lens means you get more trade offs when you use one of them.
i recently ordered one off Amazon. An AUKEY one for $10cdn
thinking having the wide angle would come in handy.
I will report back the quality of the pics when its clipped on. If im not satisfied, i will simply return it.

Yep. The phone uses at least two of the sensors together, if not all three.
Taken using a 0.45x super wide angle lens under night mode.
Can you take a picture with and without that wide lens so we can see the difference?

I got one of these for my old phone, didn't know what to expect
This is where ois really plays a part.
Did you know how many times it says "ONE POUND" on a one pound coin,?
From the macro I got I could see it !!
Amazing
25 times
Those bobbles aren't bobbles. They're words.
I'd recommend it so long as they're high grade. No plastic holders
Good morning,
Any link to buy it, or trade?

I don't have it with me pal.
The macro and the Tele lenses were the best if I recall correctly.
I'm sure there are images online.
Hej guys, I was wondering if my Mate has a problem with its lenses. As far as I understand it, there are three different lenses for wide, normal and zoom. The zoom lens is supposed to be the one under the flash.
But I can't activate that lens. Yes, I can zoom 3x, 5x. But the picture still comes from the normal lens, which I found out by putting something in front of the lenses to see which one blacks out. The lens under the flash is just never used, no matter what zoom setting I choose. So it seems like the zoom images are taken with the normal lens and digital zoom instead of the zoom lens.
Am I missing something? What do I have to do to activate the zoom lens ?
How is the camera quality? Im coming from S22u
Battery is ok. Zoom definetly not the camera to shine. Ultrawide and standard lens are very good. However, coming from an S22u you might have a downgrade..
Main camera captures a lot of details and offers a very good (and bright) night mode. Ultrawide and tele are "ok cameras". They can take good pictures in some conditions but don't expect much, they are not in S22u or i13 Pro territory. You'll notice too that the default camera app tends to oversaturate colors. Sometimes overly So. I got Gcam for that reason. The front cameras for selfies are also ok cameras. In poor light they are almost unusable for me. I recommend using the main camera for selfies. Find N is a great phone but the cameras are not the highlight.
Cameras on this Oppo are very good. Samsung S22 Ultra is plagued with horrible shutter lag nobody talks about. Not anymore since I upgraded to Oppo find N. And here you have proper 50mm portrait focal length unlike 75 (3x) they now put in every flag****.
Hi there ! I acquired this beautiful Sony Xperia IV smartphone to take photos and video films. I also bought an anamorphic lens from Sirui to have a cinematic rendering. When I use Cinema Pro, I realize that we film in 21:9 on the 3 lenses. When I put the anamorphic lens on the 16mm (ultra wide angle) the edges on the sides are cropped by the anamorphic lens, which is not the case on the other 2 (24mm and 85-125mm). I ask myself the question of the usefulness of such an anamorphic lens in addition, if not to have this effect of light beam that I could only have on 2 lenses out of 3... What do you think? Have you ever tested such lenses with this phone? Cordially.
Personally I think Cinema Pro is garbage because it restricts filming to a 21:9 crop of a 4:3 sensor. I've been experimenting with MotionCam and it's much better (raw 4k video at 24fps / 30fps).
