[Q] Moving Files to Different Folders on HTC ONE - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

Question, maybe its just mine and my wife's phone.... but has anyone tried to move for say a music .mp3 from your download folder to your music folder and then not being at to see it in the music folder while browsing with the music player? Seems like the ROM isn't refreshing the files. Make sense??
I have tried ES File Explorer and File Expert HD. I download a .mp3 or movie, shows in my download folder, and when I try to move it to another folder, it shows that it was moved but doesn't show up in the folder I moved it to. This is also the same for pictures. If I have stored pictures on my phone, or pictures I download, once I move them to another folder to sort, my phone doesn't show them. I have tried restarting and refreshing my gallery with no luck.
Anyone else notice this? If you have found a work around please let me know.
Thanks!

remove ringtones/alarms/notifications from music player

so my dad just started using his vibrant for music, and it annoys the both of us that all of the ringtones show up. I tried the .nomedia file, and that did work for the music player,
but it also made picking the ringtone for the phone impossible.
so is there anyway to do this?

place an empty file called .nomedia in the directories where the ringtones, notifications are.
I do as follow on the linux box
Code:
touch .nomedia
adb push .nomedia /sdcard/media/ringtones/
And so on

apparently you didn't read my post. I didn't use adb, but i created a .nomedia file, and put it in those folders. And it did work, they didn't show up in the music player.
however, it ALSO removed all those files from the entire system. If i go to pick my ringtone, they don't show up, not in the stock picker, or rings extended.
anyone have any ideas?
Back in the days...i had the same issue with the G1.....

I doubt if there is a solution to this, unless someone is hiding it from us. I also only know about the .nomedia file, but it does totally eliminate it from the system and not just from the player. The same thing with the picture Gallery - it shows all the icons and folder.jpg files also = VERY annoying.
As far as I know, it has always been an issue which I only have to live with. - any updates will be appreciated, please.

I use an appacalled ES File Explorer to do any file management.
the .nomedia files appear to hide files from the gallery, music player and video player apps when that "media search" occurs upon disconnecting USB or powering up. Doesn't seem to remove them from the system.
Using the file explorer above I can very simply navigate to and play/view any such media in with whatever player I wish to. Suggesting trying ES file explorer out.

interesting, i'll give this a shot. I know manually adding the .nomedia file through windows or astro kills it from the entire system, except obviously for file managers.
well i tried creating a .nomedia file there, same thing.
but i really do like the UI of that app, so i guess the best thing to do now is just put .nomedia files everywhere and use that app to find my ringtone.
The album covers can all be hidden from gallery by calling the files AlbumArt.jpg - Im still looking for answer to hide music from player

[Q] Music app not recognizing Artist, Album name of some of the songs?

Has anyone noticed this? I filled my SD card with songs via isyncr but the music app wont recognize atleast 200 of the songs. It gets the name of the song right but no artist or album. First I thought that it was a problem with iSyncr, so I did again with double twist. Same problem. Then I took the card out and put it in a Droid X and I found that all of the songs are easily recognized with Album and Artist names. So it seems that the problem is with the galaxy s2.
Has anyone else noticed this or am I doing something wrong? Does anyone know how to fix this?
anyone who has this problem?
Yes someone else posted similar on general .

slightly off-topic, but what is the general way which people use to put music on this device? Do you just create a Music folder and drag and drop? Do you use that **** kies program?
When I've tried only Kies seems to work, and it just dumps the files into /media. When I try to copy via USB directly windows gives copy errors..
Mine are all AAC+ and i just cut and past to a folder .

Just drag and drop to a new folder.

Download Location of HTC Watch Files?

Hi guys/gals I have a question does anybody know where the HTC Watch app downloads movie files that youve purchased? Im not sure if the app actually downloads the files to your phone, or if it just streams them over the net? The only reason im asking is because I would like to take all of my movies files and move them to that location so I can use the HTC Watch app to play my files. When I open up the HTC Watch app it says "No Videos Found" because I havent purchased any movies, but is there a folder I can put my files in so that they show up when I launch the app? Right now the only way to play my 3d movies with the stock player is to go into gallery find my movie and then play it but I would much rather just launch a dedicated media player app that displays all my movies files and pick which one I want to watch. I dunno maybe this cant be done lol. Thanks
I haven't downloaded any movies but the green hornet is stored on your SD card in .data---htcwatch---preloaded movies. I put some of my 3s movies that I downloaded from some websites but i still couldn't play them with the HTC watch app after moving them to that folder.

Hmm ok thanks alot! Maybe theyre encoded differently so the Watch app recognizes them.
If you can't find them on the SD, you could try /system/etc - I found the books in there.
I too am interested in figuring out how to get HTC Watch to locate, show , nd play my own movies.
I know that for the HTC Reader app that placing your own epub files into sdcard/Digital Editions will cause them to show up in the HTC app. Surely there is a similar technique for movies and HTC Watch
All HTC Watch movie files are downloaded to a hidden folder on the sd card
Use root explorer and navigate to the root of sd card, then open .data then HtcWatch folder, inside that folder will be file, preload_movies and preloads.
Open the files folder, inside there will be your downloaded files.
The downloads are in .eny format, which i have not yet been able to find what exactly can open it, besides the Htc watch player.
anyway, best of luck and let us all know if you find what mvie players can open .eny files, or at least convert them.
If you plug your phone into windows or mac be sure to enable "show hidden files"

[Q] Suddenly missing video files

This has happened to me twice now...
I upload a few large video files of various types and watch them all on my 10.1 wifi by transferring them across to the movies folder via FTP on file expert.
A few days later, they are gone, deleted. No search turns them up and looking at memory confirms that they aren't on the tab taking up a few gigs of memory. WTF?!
I did a search and didn't find anything except a few threads about .nomedia. Did creating a .nomedia file inside an eempty folder prior to moving files into the folder work for y'all?
Help please, why is my tab deleting files on it's own?
.nomedia is meant to make sure all files inside the folder will not appear when you view it from standard gallery app. good to avoid system files from being listed in the gallery.
i think u just streaming the video across your tab instead of transferring all the videos into your tab.
Well streaming doesnt help if i want to watch the movie while on a plane

exclude folders from Motorola music?

AS The thread title really.I have some audio books on my sd card which are picked up by the music player.
on my last Motorola phone it was simple to force the music player to exclude folders but I cannot d find a way in this one
Any suggestions?
Create an empty document with Notepad on your computer, then rename it to ".nomedia" and put this file in the folder you want to exclude.
If you do this it should not pick up any media from those folders.
Thanks for the suggestion, but it hasn't worked.
Should I delete all of the music from the library first? And if so how do I do it? Do I have to delete the Music from the SD card?
EDIT: Nope tried all of that and the audio books are still showing up!
Intetested in this as well...
