Hey guys I'm just wondering which rom for the streak 5 you all consider to be "best" ,smoothest, fastest. I'm using longhorn 2.9.3 and I like it but its also my first so I'm feeling antsy to try a different one.

DSC. It's the only Gingerbread ROM, other than stock Olleh, that has a working camera zoom. It's also the only Streak ROM still being maintained.

While this information can be found in the first post of the DSC thread, you have to do two factory resets for a successful install of DSC. One of them is Option 1 in the stock Dell menu you see when you access the recovery. The other is the factory reset option in Streakmod.
Okay, and I have to flash the 1.0 before I can update to the 2.3.3? And do I have yo use pdroid (I've not used it) with DSC.

Just flash the v2.0 and then the v2.3 over it.
You don't have to use PDroid, but as there is no con to it and the pro is too damn high, why not use it by choice?
If you choose to, then flash v2.0 first, then the PDroid-patch, then v2.3 for PDroid (not the normal one).
Thanks for that reply ill need to look into pdroid before I use it I don't even know what it is. Ill most likely he flashing tonight. Any tips for DSC?

scratch the edit i found the app on the playstore..i thought it was something that needed to be flashed...
so i do the "Flash me first" then the 2.0 and the 2.3.3 with pdroid and wipe caches and im done?
putting my ds5 on the charger now will flash shortly

do i need to flash the 2.0 PDroid and the 2.3 PDroid provided in the DSC [intl] thread
The PDroid app can only be used if you have flashed the PDroid Patch.
1. Flash the normal DSC v2.0
2. Flash the PDroid patch for v2.0
3. Flash the DSC v.2.3 for Pdroid users (not the normal one)
4. Install the PDroid app you found in the Play Store
All the Zip-files I just mentioned can be found in the original DSC thread
I don't know when wiping cache is necessary, but wiping before every step you flash something shouldn't be too wrong

Now that you are pissed at me.
Use the multirecovery tool to load the recovery that matches the rom you want. Put the rom on the sd card.
Now flash the recovery and the reboot into it. Then do the update.

Hi: I've been enjoying using the CyanogenMod for a couple of months now and love it. Thanks to all who created it and continue to improve it.
I simply want to upgrade to the latest stable version. Here's what I "think" I need to do. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could verify the same.
1) put zipped flash onto root of SD Card
2) Backup phone using Titanium Backup
3) Power off phone and choose "recovery" shut-down option
4) Choose zipped flash from sdcard
5) Wait for flash to complete
The other options on the reboot menu include among other things: Wipe, Mounts, Other. I've read in other post that it's a good idea to wipe dalvick-cache. Should I do so - and am I missing anything else?
If there's already a thread out there that walks one through these steps, I was unable to find it - but would appreciate being pointed to the same.

Since you are just upgrading from earlier cm7 rom, you just need to wipe cache and dalvik cache, nothing else

Unless you are updating from a previous version of CM, you should always do a full wipe. Take backups of your sms, contacts, etc.

If you are goin' from froyo or other ROM you have to wipe ALL. It means Data (format system)/Cache/Dalvik Cache/BattStats . If you are goin' from earlier CM7 then wipe Cache/Dalvik cache/battstats.

Hello, i am new here so i can't post under development forum. I'll try here. I'm using Custom Rom Cianogenmod 7.1 Gingerbread 2.3.7. Everything works fine except i cannot save apn. When i press Save the APN doesn't appear where it should be. Could anyone please help me?

No.. can u instruct me further? I have installed other custom rom but that didn't fix it. Baseband is v07u-0000-000 apr 2009.
EDIT: I'm downloading them now from here ( can't post link ) but they are 2.3.7 version

Your on old baseband, its best that you stay on old BB...ive personally never flashed new but ive heard with new you get longer battery life and better cell reception but flashing new baseband requires using lg's tool....you will find tools for such things under the dev section under stickies at the bottom of the list...as far as that apn problem have you tried using a 3rd party app from the market to perhaps save,backup,restore apn list? Ive never had a problem with apn using any mik_os roms but using andys phoneix rom sometimes requires that i manually enter the apn, im on tmobile btw....
As far as video lag/blackscreen bug use goldenleaf in combo with cm7 6.5.8 and maybe you wont have sucha huge problem with it
Also try wiping everything, redownloading cm7 than flash it and see if doing that has corrected your problems

Google search gapps cyanogenmod7 wiki, scan the page and you will find the version you need....also by going on cm7 6.5.8 dev page right after the download link for 6.6.1 you will see a link to minimal gapps

Hi,
My daughter has the HP touchpad, I've already loaded CM7 using moboot method so she keeps webos. I can see now that many stable versions of CM9 exist and want to upgrade to one of the many ROMs available. Can I do this straight from clockwork mod or do I need to flash additional zip files in order for it to work properly. I have searched lots of forums and some are suggesting to use acme installer 2 but I have titanium backup so cannot see the point in this method. Any help is much appreciated.

A:don't remember where I saw it but I do remember that it could not flash properly and result in bugs....
So its best to do a clean install using ur PC and following this

Look for a video from reverend kyle on youtube, its a pretty good explanation and tells you the files you need. The CM9 build will be outdated in the video so just use the latest gapps and CM9 build. Everything else will be the same. Basically you'll need to use you computer and ACMEInstaller2. If you ever want to install CM10 you'll want to use ACMEInstaller3.

Might want to consider what was posted above, skip cm9, use acme uninstaller to start clean, then acmeinstaller3 and put one of the jellybean builds on.
JB takes up more system space, which acmeinstaller3 provides

Why not download one of the custom ROMs in development and pull the files you need from there?
Thanks for the advice sir but I already downloaded custom roms and there's no dev/msmcamera controls there... What im looking for is the control0, control1, frame0,frame1 files in msmcamera.. It's all missing..

Well, a little more detail is useful. What ROM do you have? Have you tried one of the stock deodexed ROMs (also in Development) to get the files you need?
I don't know how many are still on stock ROMs, which is why I'm mentioning alternatives.
I am using gingerstreak now, I also tried streakdroid and miui.. But the msmcamera files still missing.. I had my dell streak checked and they said the camera is not broken they say there's just a missing driver or somethin. And according the logcat dev/msmcamera/control0 doesnt exist.. And when I go checked it it's not there. Msmcamera folder is empty

well.. it is confirm those files are not there at dev/msm_camera for custom rom pcm7 but the camera is working correctly for both front and back... no such thing as can not connect to camera error...
maybe you should clear the data for the camera because if the file is corrupted, those error would popup... and do wipe cache as welll...
or simply install stock 2.2 rom...
Sir, even before I use custom roms those control files from msmcamera is missing... I used to have it when my camera is working.. I already tried clearing the data, factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik.. Nothing seems to work.. where do I get the stock 2.2 rom? Is it posible to downgrade? Thanks for the advice..

have you tried to install alternative camera application from google play? try that first...
and if you dont know where to get those 2.2 .. hmm.. it seems you have a lot of homework to do...
