I9300 looping at samsung logo/unable to go into recovery mode - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I've really tried looking and I really cannot find a fix, thus this has forced me to come out of lurking and posting a thread to seek for help.
I wanted to flash back to a stock rom from my cyanogenmod10 to claim warranty for a broken digitalizer (touch screen completely not working), so my mistake was to flash via odin without wiping cache memory/factory reset and I forgot to use triangle away. (thought that i should have done that when I'm on stock rom)
so now my phone is unable to boot into home, it is stuck at the samsung logo, I can go into download mode but i have no way to get into recovery. (Holding the up vol + home + power just resets kinda restarts the phone)
Also, it seems like no matter how long I charge the phone, the battery level won't go above 10% on the standby mode charging screen.)
Anyone help ?
End of the day I really just need to get the flash counter back to zero without using the in-phone app to claim for warranty.

reflash the stock rom. if you do everything correctly, you would be able to access recovery

I've done that at least 3 times... using odin3 v3.07 flashed with I9300XXEMA2_I9300OLBEMA1_I9300DXELK1_HOME.tar.md5 selected only F.reset and auto restart, flashed using PDA.
The Odin tells me that flashing was a success but I'm still stuck, the last time i had this problem i settled it via clearing cache, but this time i cannot go into recovery mode anymore.

Try removing the battery.
Put back and go to recovery mode.
Then wipe data / factory reset.
Reboot.
Should work after that

I hope there is someone here that can help me though
Main concerns,
1) Reset Flash counter with computer.
2) Wipe Cache/factory reset function without going into recovery mode.

Take out battery, put it back in, press the three button Recovery combo and let go when you see the Samsung SIII screen. If you keep it pressed, it'll loop.
Do a factory reset then restart the phone.
Connect a mouse through an OTG cable and install TriangleAway to reset the counter.
Boot into recovery and factory reset. Should do the trick.
Good luck!

[Q] Stuck on a boot loop

Hi
I just flashed my GS2 for the 2nd time via Odin and everything went fine, no errors or something like that.. The problem is that now i'm stuck on a boot loop.
The phone keeps restarting at the first boot animation and i can't do anything..
I've tried to reflash with other roms, stock rom's, stock kernel but nothing works..
Can i have some help please? :/
Thank you
EDIT: Just noticed that this is not the right section for posting this sort of things.. Can i have it moved to the right section please? Thanks
EDIT2: Forgot to mention that this started to happen since i did an hard reset using the *2767*3855# method.
Turn off the phone -> Hold volume up + power + home -> in recovery wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache.
That worked for me when I was locked in a bootloop the other day at least, can't say if it'll work for you though :/

This worked for me.. Many thanks!
Im still getting this!
I can flash a rom and it reboots, so I boot upinto recovery and wipe data and cache and its still mucing up
please im going insane
I fought with this BIG time.... it did not matter what I flashed or reset, I was constantly stuck in a boot loop.... but then Chainfire said this, took me a couple of tries but it worked.... I did not full understand the gist of it, but the end result is my phone is up and running....
remember, once you flash the stock rom, you have to do the recovery reset (should be blue instead of orange).
I will post the link in a second, I have to find it, lol
"Villains ROM doesn't include kernel AFAIK (yet!). Again, don't fear. This is a Samsung device, unless you botched up flashing a bootloader, you aren't going to break it. It is epically difficult to break Samsungs by accident.
See this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 for some stock firmwares. Do a full wipe after flashing (from recovery). I advise the XEU KE7 variant."
Possible fix
Hi,
I had a similar problem and following exactly Intratech's post #108 from the following thread solved my issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278&page=11
The three file install went OK and then I was able to install the latest "one file" tars as usual.
Intratech's #108:
I assume you know how to use Odin. Download the firmware from this link and extract everything to one folder: http://hotfile.com/dl/116656855/2ccf2f4/I9100XWKDF.rar.html
The password for the file is: samfirmware.com
Start Odin and put these in the following
PDA: CODE_I9100XWKDF_CL170898_REV02_user_low_ship.tar
CSC: GT-I9100-MULTI-CSC-OXXKDD.tar
Modem: MODEM_I9100XXKDJ_REV_02_CL996627.tar
Forget the rest of the files. DO NOT SELECT A PIT FILE AND DO NOT TICK REPARITION.
Put your phone into download mode and connect the usb cable. When the Odin box turns yellow press flash and wait until phone reboots. The first boot will take a while... be patient.
It's 2:58am here so I'm off to bed. I don't know how to make this simpler for you.

[Q] Hard Reset with Odin? Is it possible?

Was just curious, was hopin to send my phone back in to att today (due to a power button that no longer works) since i got a replacement. Unrooted back to stock and deleted all of my photos and everything and then got stuck on a bootloop so im unable to do a hard reset. Unfortunately I can't even get into 3e recovery since my power button is broken, so is it possible to do a hard/factory reset to wipe the internal SD from odin or any other program? much appreciated
If the phone is on and booted up, you can do a wipe data/factory reset from the settings menu within the phone:
Menu > Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset in Gingerbread
Menu > Settings > Back up and reset > Factory data reset in ICS
If your phone is not on, there are several ways to boot it:
adb reboot
flash stock firmware in Odin with reboot checked
etc.
You can also get into recovery with:
adb reboot recovery

If it were my phone, I would flash the stock firmware package in Odin, with reboot checked. Once the flash completes, the phone should boot normally. Then you should be able to wipe data/factory reset from the phone.
or try the adb reboot recovery to see if that will work.
If you still have a bootloop after flashing stock again, then you may need to flash the full stock distribution. You don't say in the OP how the phone got into a bootloop, or what you flashed to stock from.

Apologies again for not being specific and I appreciate your efforts in going back and forth with me.
The reason my phone is currently in a bootloop was when I followed the process on your thread for preparing my phone to be sent back for warranty replacement. Using odin I flashed the stock image (UCKH7, and my flash counter reads NO which is good) and after the phone extracted the files and Odin said I was bone stock, my phone just continuously reboots on the att startup animation (which you predicted and outlined could be fixed by going into 3e recovery and doing a factory reset but since my power buttons rubbish, I can't select any options even if I do get into 3e recovery)
Edit: I also flashed to stock from AOKP and I even followed through your process a second time thinking that re-flashing the stock firmware would remove the bootloop, however no luck

You probably don't need the bootloaders. I think adb reboot recovery is your best option. Let me know if it works.

Yeah that's what I figured as well since I can't select any options. It's Alright, luckily I deleted anything personal before even doing the unroot. And the Odin flash definitely unlinked all of my account info from the phone so I was just asking for my own peace of mind and curiosity. Just dropped the phone off in the mail this morning, thank you both for your help. You guys rule.

Yeah I can't see any other option. Should be fine though...it has stock firmware and kernel on it now, even with the bootloop. He can just say, my phone went crazy and I don't know why!

Give us more details on what you have done exactly before you flash the rom.
And details about which rom.
One solution would be to flash stock.
Go in download mode with 3 buttons combo(volume down-power and home button) open odin, put as pda the stock rom as a tar and hit start.
Note: Be sure kies tray agent is not running in the background you have to kill the process with task manager
I also have this issue, after using a CM9 rom then rolling back to stock rom I have downloaded the stock rom, not sure if its 100 match for my phone but its stuck at samsung logo its 1 day old, please help?
Thanks
get into download mode and try flash again.
Right, I can go back to custom rom, but stock rom wont boot, any suggestions?
please try to elaborate the exact steps that you have done to get to that situation.
if you are now flashing back to stock rom. try this, flash stock firmware using odin, once done dont reboot. straigth boot into recovery mode, and wipe data factory reset. then boot.
ive got the same problem. i installed cyanogenmod 10 on and it worked fine but couldnt get to wipe the internal sd card so still had stuff from past roms on. I thought if i flash back to stock then it would clear it all then i could reflash back to cyanogen 10.
i flashed the stock in odin and it wont go past the samsung logo. cant get into the recovery mode to wipe cache as it just resets back to boot screen and cant use the samsung toolkit as i cant get into usb debugging mode as cant get it to boot
any help really appreciated

I had this issue before. Phone is stuck at samsung logo. I reflashed stock lfb firmware and cf root. Cleared data/cache/dalvik. Then it worked fine.
If every recovery method fails then only resort is to visit service center, go there and act dumb and state phone went crazy and this happened out of no where. If they wont find out that you've f***ked it up then you will get mo-board replacement.
Flash stock LFB from samfirmware.com through Odin.
Then flash Siyahkernel (also through Odin)
Pull the battery for 5 minutes
Press and hold vol-up + home buton
Press power button until screen lights up
You should be in cwm now. Factoryreset your phone and it should startup again
If you don't want to loose your data, instead of factory reset you can try using adb shell and run e2fsck on the block device for /data
Corrupt ext-Partitions are usually the reason for a softbrick

I encountered the same problem. I almost fainted when I can't solve the problem. Finally I did. this is what I did:
1. download the Stock Rom (depends which country and carrier you are) Unzip the downloaded file and you should have .md5 file that you will later use.
2. download ODIN
3. Launch ODIN click on "PDA button" select the .md5 that you extracted (the file you downloaded and unzipped) and click start and wait until it finished (hopefully this will solve your problem but in my case ... the samsung logo still is stucked so continue with my next steps)
4. download the CF Root from
note: this will install the CWM or recovery mode for your phone that will give you several options ...
5. use ODIN again and click PDA button and select the CF Root that you have downloaded and click on start until it finished.
6. boot to Recovery mode by holding "volume up (yes volume up and not volume down)" and "power" and "home button" all at the same time until recovery mode reappears.
7. go to advanced and remove dalvik cache, do a wipe out or factory reset, wait for your phone to restart ... wait a minute or two and your phone is back to normal.

Hardbricked my S2. HELP!!!

Here is my case.
Was on 4.4.4 SlimSaber with TWRP recovery..
So, i intended to change back to stock rom. Downloaded the stock firmware from sammobile
After that, I used ODIN 3.10 to flash the stock firmware. Everything goes smoothly. But, after the process completed, I have bootloop in the Samsung logo.
Tried removing the battery and replaced it.. still the same.
Now I cant enter the Download and Recovery mode. My PC still detects my device, ODIN still show blue sign when I plugged it in
Any advice for me to recover it?

Almost dead S3

Ok so, after many attempts I decided to ask for help here.
Months ago my old s3 "died". My brother was using it and it rebooted itself. From then it's still locked on SAMSUNG boot animation.
I've tryed many solutions. At first I thought it was the power button because in the past it gave me random reboots so... I removed it
No luck.
I'be bought a JIG, booted in download mode (or fastboot? nevermind) and completely installed the original ROM and firmware via Odin.
Another time, no luck.
The phone it's still locked on boot logo. On battery it cannot go beyond the first black and white screen, on charger it stucks on the SAMSUNG colored and animated one.
I have tried to change the battery but still no luck.
Am I missing something?
Thanks

No, don't reset if you don't want to lose all data.

Flash the stock firmware, factory reset, flash the stock firmware AGAIN. Remnants will remain if you don't flash twice with a reset in between.
