[Q] Problem in my phone Galaxy s2 in IMEI - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I have a Galaxy S2 GT-I9100
Fell a few drops of water on the phone and then no longer works have taken him for repairs have been repaired already after the technical replacement piece Alpaor also a piece transmitter and already worked the phone, but for only one day and then refused to work the device and disappeared network and transmission and also SIM card no longer working have you update the software, but to no avail was clear to me after having worked Root of the device that the files in this path are missing
/ sdcard / efs
Since the files in a folder efs empty where there is no any files and also I do not keep any backup copy of these files.
If I type * # 06 # the results in IMEI is: null/null
Is there a solution in the repair and operation of this device again??

I know how you can repair but you need to someone with jtag hardware. Just try to search for people in your area for jtag repair. Or riff box.

thanks,
I will search but you think the Riff Box Supported Samsung Models : I9100 ??!
and this box will repair the phone??
I think riff box not support Samsung Galaxy SII I9100 but it supported I9100G and i don't if this box it will be fix the problem.

I saw some couple of riff boxes last summer. And from the research I've made with them yes they support i9100 and that was the possibility to repair or modify imei. I don't remember the name of the boxes but as you discribe the box that supports the 9100g it shoukd support the normal 9100 just update the box software.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium

Unless you know what you're doing, don't try using a riff box or attempt a JTAG. Take it to someone who has already done hundreds of them. If you mess it up, you'll end up needing a motherboard replacement, and even worse, if you're careless with the soldering iron preparing to JTAG, you'll bork your phone beyond repair.
Be smart.

Riff boxes generally don't use soldering. Just a usb filter. And if someone as a riff box knows how to use it. Same for jtag thats even complexer. This yes uses soldering and don't advice that. But the riff boxes are ok. I've used two of them in galaxy s and galaxy s2 like child play. It's not dangerous when you know what you're doing.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium

That's right, when you know what you're doing. 95% of people on here (n00bs) don't, it's the whole 'if you have to ask, don't try it' thing which clearly applies in this person's case. I mean, they didn't even have the wherewithal to make an EFS backup which could have fixed this problem fairly easily.
If they're smart, they'll pay someone to fix it.

Yes but i don't think he owns a riff box. Someone he knows owns one. But needs some updates. And maybee can help him. I don't think he should do it be himself.
And friend don't try to repair with i9100g settings from the box. You will loose your phoe!!

very easy my friend if you have ns pro download the baseband repair for that model and then you download the file flash it with ns pro and repair imei with the same box

[Q] can't make any call neither incomings

Hi I have installed slim 4.2.1. rc1 official, Andr version 4.2.1 baseband I9300XXELKC. Having troubles with all calls, I cant make any and can't receive neither. On the top left corner appears icon saying that all calls are being forwarded.
What it can be and how to fix it?
Thank you very much advance for an answer :-/
reinstall the rom and it might help
or try unrooting and rooting your phone again and installing the rom again
i'm not a pro i'm still a beginner

Did you follow install instructions properly ie. Format data and system?
Go to call settings and see if the call forwarding option is enabled. If not then reinstall the rom properly or try a different rom

Yes thanks to all - i installed everything the right way and do not have any call forwarding enabled in the menu. The phone has been blacklisted and now i have to reflash it. Does anyone know what exactly should be flushed into my brick ? I bought it on the street cheaper than usually, that's why now I have a problem. Please send me PM if someone has more experience than I do.
If the phone has been black listed then there is nothing you can do apart from learn not to buy dodgy phones from dodgy people on street corners.
You can go to the police and return the phone to the owner, he must be looking for it
In most cases not, since it's usually insurance fraud (especially the ones in boxes with ths stickers still intact)
Why do people buy a 500€ phone on street corners? How about warranty etc?
Samsung does not have to fix your phone, the seller does.

You have already been told,, if it is blacklisted then you can either go to police, report it as stolen/fraudulent and see if they can help you resolve it, or you could get your money back from the seller.
You won't get any other answer here

You will have to use Google and search .

I used google, nothing concrete, plausible. Maybe someone did, or has the opportunity and resources to have made such a "transplant" and succeded. And he hadn't a chance to talk about this...
you can if you also replace the antenna
Most important of all, figure out if 9300 and 9305 use same screen, if so, there is chance this might work.

Can you give me a photo with the antena, if i don't replace the antena, what happens?...cause the thing is, i have a i9300 with broken motherboard and i bought a i9305 with broken glass an screen...so, Will I be able to have a functional s3?...(tomorrow i'm getting the i9305)
(...or whats with the i9305's antena?...beside the fact she is for 4g networks...is there a shape difference...or...conector...)

You need to search for teardowns for both models .
Photo antenna google search image .

if you don't replace the antenna, you won't be able to use it as a phone.
for a photo, search for disassembly videos
I find that they are identical. Anyway I am very excited and thank you so much for the promptness with which you answered. 'll Be back tomorrow to tell you if it works. I hope so, because I spent a lot of money. Have a great day!
make sure to report back, it's quite interesting

How to switch my Note II guts

Hi again!
I have my Note II which unfortunately took the 4.3 OTA update so I guess it's a done deal until they find a way around it.
My question is, I have my first Note II which was dropped and broken the 2nd day I owned it by a clumsy friend. Thankfully I had insurance on it and I told them I lost it so I could keep the broken one for spare parts.
Is there a way I can switch the guts and then switch the IMEI, MIN or serial number so I can root the old one which never took ANY updates whatsoever?
I know if works, it's just got a cracked screen.
Any help will be greatly appreciated and compensated. I'm hoping I can do this because once I get his back working, I am rooting it and loading a custom ROM immediately and locking it down to prevent any future updates,
Thanks

Sweet! Thanks for the info. So the IMEI is embedded in the logic board so I don't have to tear the whole thing apart?

Correct. If you want to for further satisfaction you can take a heat gun or a hair dryer to the sticker on your old device and mover it over to the new frame so that the nbers match.

Ok, I reviewed the dissasembly proceedure, but I only see a single motherboard? Is there a separate board, module or chip that holds the IMEI? I have to transplant the identity of the working unit to the old one but keep the old part that hasn't taken the 4.3 update? Is that possible or do I need to wipe the IMEI and rewrite it by some method?
Did I miss something??
Thanks again.

Your IMEI is stored in your flash storage you just need to move the logic board over and plug all the connectors in and your good to go.

Ok what is the "Logic Board"? Is that the main motherboard in the unit or is it a daughter or sub board? I need to use the old units system board that hasn't been updated to 4.3, but transfer the IMEI from the working unit to the old system board.
The problem w
here is I don't know where all the data is stored. Where is the firmware stored? Where is the IMEI stored? Are these two separate boards? If not, I need to electonically copy the IMEI infor from the new phone which is working and has been updated to 4.3 and copy it to the old board so that I have the existing identity in the old units system board and then swap that to the new phone with the good screen.
I'm probably making this worse since I don't know what the correct terminology is and where the firmware and IMEI data is stored.
Phone A is working, good screen but has been OTA updated to 4.3 firmware
Phone B is working, broken screen, but has NOT been updated since manufacture.
Need to make one phone with good screen, Phone A's IMEI or identity and Phone B's non firmware updated circuitry. I can't use the identity of Phone B as it was replaced under insurance as lost. I just reported it lost instead of broken so i could keep it for spare parts. It cost me more in co pay, but at this point, it was worth it as I have a phone I will be able to root and ROM!
Hope this makes sense.
Thanks for your help.

Ill make it simple
Logic Board = Motherboard
IMEI is stored on a chip on your logic board this is all soldered together you dont touch a damn thing on the logic board.
Move the logic board from the one with the cracked screen into the one with the good screen reconnect the lcd and camera and so and your done.

Ok that's what I was looking for. I owe everyone a beer!
Now, how do I copy the IMEI from the working one and then put it in the replacement motherboard? I have 4.3 firmware on the working unit so I don't think I can root it, so is there a way to make a backup of the IMEI and or EFS partition or whatever I need to change the old unit's identity?
I CANNOT use the old unit's IMEI because it was reported as lost and was supposed to be returned to the insurance company. I just need to switch their identities. I can handle the hardware swap and I'm pretty sure I can handle the IMEI swap if it's possible and I can get some directions.
Thanks again and I need to know how to buy all involved a beer or two!

I may be wrong but I don't believe XDA will allow that to be discussed on here due to potential fraud issues (and I believe IMEI porting may be "illegal").

Ok so I'm screwed? I paid a lot of money for this bloody phone and Verizon hosed it up with their damm updates. All I want to do is make the broken one work. Is it possible someone can help me? If you want to do it privately, be assured I will not use it for anything illegal and I will not give the information out to anyone. If it's possible to back up the IMEI info when rooting and installing a custom, ROM, wouldn't that be the same thing? PLEASE HELP ME!
Please advise as I am desperate to get my phone working properly again. Otherwise, I will have to buy a new one and I don't have that kind of money to waste! I'd rather make a donation here!
Thanks again

Esn/Imei swapping is highly illegal. Not only does it void your contract but if they catch you doing it they might say you were trying to get away with fraud.. on that note I'll on you some info.

Help required for EMMC

hi,
My phone GTI 9300 got bricked because of the Faulty EMMC. I was able to buy the new EMMC replacement and the BGA soldering stencil online.
I have given the phone to my guy to install it onto the mother board as i can't do it my self. now the problem I am facing is that my guy needs the paste/liquid needed to solder the new EMMC. It is current not available in the local market.
I am facing problem trying to find the paste online as I don't know the name of the paste, my guy says it's called W8 but i dont think so its right.
Kindly reply here if someone knows what is that paste exactly called, so I can order it online.
thank you
Having watched the 'tube video of a backroom repair shop mash an emmc chip onto a motherboard I don't recollect any special chemicals being used.

sII motherboard replacement

Hi all,
I need to replace the motherboard from my device. I am wondering if it is plug-and-play or if it is needed some flashing.
In other words do I simply remove the dead one and connect the new one (used) or do I need to flash anything. Of course I suppose my IMEI is lost and I must have a working motherboard and a valid IMEI.
I also assume that I have no chances to recover the data stored in the broken device. The problem was caused by the small backup battery that lost acid and damaged the board and some components
Thank you
I just replaced my s2 motherboard from Samsung service center. It requires to be flashed with latest Sammy rom + they'll write your old IMEI number on your new motherboard. I'd suggest you to let the experts replace your motherboard. It'll cost you about $110 though...
Good luck with your phone!
