Hi all, I have a reoccurring problem: when listening to music with headphones-even different pairs-the audio stutters every few seconds. This happens quite often. I'm running Viper 2.0 and on ATT. I also have turned off Beats audio, or anyoyher audio affect in order to try and get rid of this problem, but to no luck
Anyone else have this problem?
If I'm not mistaken, this has to do with the kernel, specifically the max screen off frequency. Which kernel do you use?

When I go to check the Kernel it says "[email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT"

Interesting. I wonder if this is the same thing I experience. I have some audio, mainly pandora and slacker, that have audio issues when the screen is not asleep.
I've got the same issue and noticed that it happens when I have wifi turned on and the phone is searching for wifi hotspots. Also turning off the screen seems to make it happen less frequently. It's really annoying, especially when you are playing music in a car loud.

thanks maxwen, I will try this rom, but is there a way to use Performance Tools in cm 10.1 ?
btw after spending some time on internet I hv solved the stuttering problem, installed Headset Blocker, installed Player Pro and hv set Audio Priority to "maximum" (under Player Pro Audio Settings)... now music plays flawless... this seems to work even with stock roms, gps/wifi all on, and with standard CPU settings in BLADE kernel !

it has nothing to do with the ROM but just the kernel
but yes using a player that supports audio buffering helps too
just you dont need to pay for a player to solve it - thats all

Hi everybody! this is my first thread. I had installed the ics r6 rom on my st15i xperia mini, everything works very well but I've some problems with the walkman application ! When it is in function, every button I press or every app I use it makes some crappy noise ! the most annoying is when i press the lock button, there is a big audio lag problem! I don't know what to do! I've re-installed the rom up to 3 times but the problem hasn't solved yet! I've also tried to install the walkman.apk last app package from the cwm but nothing, I can't solve the problem...
I've also heard that the problem might be caused by the bad quality of some micro sd card, but I think that is not my case (sandisk class4 16gb), because using Poweramp i don't have the noises...I really want to use the walkman player because I think that is really good, especially for the clear bass and the x audio technology.. does anyone have some idea? I really appreciate it !!! tnx 4 help !

Hey guys
i have a Problem with the Playback from some mp3's.
So i open the file with the standard player, it say's: "This type of Audiofile can't be played"...
But if i open the Audiofile over the "Root Explorer", it will be played with this player.
What is it?
Any other App from the Store make exactly the same bug...
The exactly same file's was played on ICS without any failure... but Jelly Bean??
In hopes that the new firmware (1.14.401.18) will fix the problem, i had flash the Revolution HD 4.0 Rom but this is not the case...
What can i do?
It is not acceptable! Such problems were among the old Windows Mobile 6 times...
PS: The Custom Rom is NOT the Problem. I have this Bug since i unpacked the One x+...
I have no problem with music (FLAC or MP3) at all, so it must be a problem on your side (ROM, other installations, MP3 or anything)... Not a general HOX+ problem...

The one Point with the mp3's fix was the reason for me, to risk to flash an custom rom because i have only rooted it before.
I must correct me:
The MX Player, rather a Video Player, is able to play the MP3's. All now, without issues..
But not the "Beats" player from HTC, wich is perfectly integrated... Damn it!!
Can anybody help me??

i will be trying to flash it today
I have over 300 MP3 files and no problem playing them with the stock HTC player.
Many players will only work with standard bit rates and ID3 tags. If any are not using the proper standard it might fail to play.
The reason other players are working is most likely they are ignoring the bad data or will play nonstandard bit rates.

There is a new Version of the Stock Player
Many thanks to the Deleoper's
As is commonly known, at lower volumes the sound on the G pad is pretty dark and murky.
This can be improved easily by using an equalizer app and turning down the bass/lower frequencies, and turning up the higher frequencies.
I've tried a few different apps, some work, some don't.
Currently I'm using the "Music equalizer" app, which is allright but turns itself off after 30 minutes, so I'm looking for something better.
What apps have you found that work well with MX player?
(I know sound improves in other ROM's but I want to stay rooted stock, so custom ROM's are not an option right now)
Same here.
Today I installed DSP manager (from cyanogenmod).
Nice and exactly what I want, except that it doesn't work at all.
Sent from my LG-V500 using Tapatalk
I use PowerAmp music player. It has a great DSP but I don't know if it works system-wide and I haven't really tried to find out because I haven't really though about it.
Upgrade to CM11, it will change your tab, especially concerning the sound..
Poweramp seems to be a music player rater than a generic equalizer.
About CM, have I mentioned in my start post that I want to stay stock, or did I forget to say that?

Greetings..
I know you want to stay stock but...
I was just reading this thread and I have CM-11 installed and I thought.. why not turn on Netflix and the DSP (which I was not using) and see if the DSP Mgr. does make a difference..
It Does.. A Big Difference if you adjust the EQ manually.. So at least you know you have an option should your situation become unbearable.
I know there is that option so I have considered that. Not having Qremote is not an option at this moment, so I'm not going there.
As for equalizers, I've found another one that works, but it also turns off after 30 minutes.
I have the impression that this is not so much a funcionalty, but a limitation within android.
Does anyone know if all equalizer apps will turn off after 30 minutes?
Does any app exist that I can use that doesn't turn itself off?

If you are rooted you could try AlsaMixer. It's kinda a carry over from Linux. Bear in mind that it had a major overhaul some time ago. It has so many settings for each connectin you won't believe it. Unfortunately I have no idea how to use it after the overhaul as everything is classified pretty cryptic, but I believe I saw something about 5 different EQ bands. AlsaMixer is system wide btw. The EQ is just one of many variables you can set. However finding a tutorial is imminent, if you ask me. Good luck.

I'm not certain of what I'm saying right now. But since MX Player is capable of using both software and hardware for both sound and video I suspect it may use it's own settings.. I don't know. I'm basing it on ZPlayer in the Market which I used for a long time, that one had it's own EQ and such and the dev said that the users shouldn't be using any 3rd party EQ's because it wouldn't have any effect.. May be some of the same stuff going on with MX Player since it offers all these different decoders.. Sorry, I'm not going back to stock to test this. Anything CM/AOSP related, I'll gladly check out for you. :/
I'm just wondering; DSP manager does not seem to have any effect on the sound of any apps here.
As for MX player (which is the only app I really care about for an equalizer to work with),
some equalizer apps work with it and some don't.
The few that I found that work all quit after 30 minutes, probably that's a limitation in android?
I'm starting to think harder about Mahdi rom, it sure looks nice but I just can't part yet from Qremote.

Rooted users can use viper. It is the best system wide system modulator out there. It can be found almost anywhere on these forums. If you need a link, pm me and i'll send you one.

I never understood the "pm me and I'll send you the link" attitude.
Anyway .. I agree with Charlie: it is a very good sound enhancer utility.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion.
Viper4androidFX works,
it works with MX player and it keeps working after 30 minutes.
I believed for a moment that this was the solution for optimizing the sound on the G pad,
however viper seems to have an unwanted effect on videoprocessing;
while streaming HD content over MX player there is a slight stutter in the video that immediately disappears when I turn viper off.
That makes useless for me really.
I am thinking about saying goodbye to the Qremote app and flashing Mahdi.

Hi Guys,
What audio mods/engines are you guys using on your kitkat custom rom.
I have tried Viper4Android FX 2.3.3.0 but honestly did not notice any difference
[before the ppl who created this mod and ppl who use it religiously enjoy it come and kill me, sorry but i mean no disrespect]
So what more options do i have.
I am looking for mods that will
1. Not drain a lot of battery.
2. Offer good, clear, crisp audio quality.
3. be compatible with 4.4.2 KitKat Roms.
Currently on RRemix 5.1.1 + Boeffla Kernel OMNI 2.2
I have tried various customization's on my phone the last piece of my customization puzzle is good audio and so far i haven't found any good solutions.
Any help will be appreciated.
i got exactly the same rom and the same kernel and was wondering the same thing... i also tried viperforandroid and when you put it into expert mode you can change your audio to your liking (different modes of surround, gain, ...) it does make a big difference. but speaker quality still isn't what i would like it to be.

Many users have reported blutooth range much reduced on latest built NG. Also while playing music with screen off there may be stuttering.
Here is fix for both
You can use on latest build ROM from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54937392&postcount=11611
PS : Music fix recommended for stock kernel users only.
Thanks works on my i317m great. I listen to audio books at work 8 hrs a night and the skipping and Bluetooth static was driving me crazy not a skip or static and nice and clear
Music Fix is useless on Note II as usual, all you have to do is install CPU TUNER and overclock it,et voila magic,it works, doesn't take an Einstein to find it out..

the difference is that your music fix doesn't stop the stuttering when screen off while overclocking works perfectly well.
That's may be bcoz if you are using other cpu tweaking script or custom kernel that can cause conflict. Additional thing of music fix is it tweaks freq when music playing with screen off. So that will keep freq normal when not needed. It's reported working on hundreds of users well.

You need to realise one thing.. the fix is not useless..! What is useless is overclocking as it has no effect once the screen is locked as the governors will automatically push the phone the lowest acceptable/pre set values..!
So i recommend read more and think before you term someones work as useless
cheers..!

As much as 3-4 hours per day.. (I consider it high) and all this while i cannot push the phone to a higher frequency ..!
