HELP... How to delete failed OTA update files??? (Software update problems)... - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Hope this is the right section and that someone can help. (I have tried searching but no joy!)
I have a Samsung Galaxy ACE (GT-S5830i) which I have rooted but I am still on the stock rom/gingerbread 2.3.6
Today my phone said an update is available, so I connected to WiFi and downloaded the 30.14mb update, the update fails to install and I have now found out from searching that you cannot do a software update OTA once you are rooted, D'oh!!
So I now want to know how do I get rid of the 30mb update that I downloaded from my internal storage?! Can I simply delete it from the appropriate file, if so what is the folder/file called? or is it not as simple that?
If this 30mb update that didn't work cannot be simply deleted using my file manager app, then should I unroot my phone, and then try and update OTA again? and then root my phone once more? Would that work?!
Thanks for your help, this has really annoyed me and in hindsight I wouldn't have bothered to do the software update if I had known rooted phones cant update!!! And its also very frustrating that my internal storage has now got 30mb less space than before because I downloaded this update. I really hope its just a case of finding it and deleting it!
Thanks again,
James

[Q] Can't delete copilot app!

After much messing about and almost bricking my phone I've finally got it on a version of 2.2 which will run the standard upgrade but I have a problem. This version (compared to the older official UK o2 I had) has copilot pre installed on it which when I checked the permissions is down for full access to making calls, texts, viewing contacts, etc.. Basically all the stuff you wouldn't allow an app to do normally and as I have no need for it I went to the apps on settings to delete it but when I select it the option to uninstall isn't highlighted, does anyone know how to get rid of this??
you need to use root manager or system manager delete the apk from system/app
hope that helps.
Cheers, gonna try and get it rooted then. Already tried z4root but it didn't work so having a go with superoneclick!
Also do you know of a way to stop the update available message coming on??
root with superuser via streakmod or clockworkmod....not sure about the update message. I am on 351.
Done, was a bit unsure bout if I was doing it all right but it's all looking good so far thanks!!
Will look into the update to 2.2.2 and see what can be done with that once I've had a play with the root!!

[Q] I have fully rooted archos stock os, r/w mountable firmware version 2.4.83, why?

Ok, so i allmostly never boot archos firmware from when i installed urukdroid (second time after a full tab format) and i just boot it from times to times to update and thats it, today i booted it up and saw i had Superuser in the apps list, so i opened it and i saw it had a binary installed, and i was like "what on earth?" so i played a bit more, installed market, updated su, couldnt update su binarry whit superuser app, so i installed SuperSU and that let me install its binary and replace the superuser one, and after i tryed installing some root apps, first was root explorer, and yah.......i saw i have no option to unmount system, so it allways stays r/w even if i mount "/" as r/o, thats really odd in my opinion, but whatsoever, after that i installed chainfire app and installed the chainfire driver and well......it worked, so my question in this moment is how on earth did i root my archos, the first thing that came into my mind was archangel, but i didnt have that app installed, lol, just stock apps and superuser, and also archanger as far as i know didnt let u update your archos after rooting, or isnt that so?
Anyway the only theory that makes some logic in my mind is this: i had firmware 2.0.71 (or what the the version required for archangel was), then i installed archangel and permarooted, then i have no ideea why but i uninstalled archangel and left only superuser, and that allready sounds stupid to me, and i have also no ideea how i had no error when doing ota update, cause i read again and again on the archangel thread and for some it gave update package incorrect or something like that, now i really wonder if there is a way to root the archos whitout sde by installing the required firmware version for archangel, permarooting whit archangel and updating, i think itd help people who are new to this tab if we would test and say if it is so, cause to say the truth even i kept the archos unrooted for a while till i got really angry at not haveing root cause i was afraid of loosing warranty...............also sorry if such a thing has been posted, but i searched, and except the archangel post i cant find anything about rooting the stock fw, and im just courious cause i read archangel wont work on newer firmware...........so back to my question: how did i get root in the latest stock firmware version on my archos?

[Q] Lenovo S920: I took out ChromeWithBrowser.apk and now my phone cannot update OTA

Good day guys,
After rooting my phone, I inadvertently deleted some system apps, including chromewithbrowser.apk
Now my phone cannot do OTA updates; it always says installation aborted due to:
assert(apply_patch("/system/app/ChromeWithBrowser.apk",... followed by a bunch of letters and numbers.
From reading thru forums I understand that OTA updates look for the original system files. I tried d/l'ing the update, edited the app files to exclude chromewithbrowser.apk, and tried to manually push the update but unfortunately my phone's recovery is only equipped to handle signed updates.
Am beginning to think that the only way to resolve this is to reflash my phone's stock ROM image...however like a dumbass I did not backup my ROM (i am an idiot, i know)
I tried to manually load a signed chromewithbrowser.apk from a SG Note II, to no avail as well...same error.
Am at my wits' end here... although I think it might just be an update from 4.2 to 4.3, am afraid i won't be able to update to KitKat when the time comes (assuming that Lenovo gets the update as well).
Any help would REALLY be appreciated... thank you!
Yeah mee too i need the stock ROM

Got the Stock ROM
I have the Stock ROM now I found it on Lenovo forum
I'll upload it soon or just get it from this Russian forum

[Q]TMo 4.4 Update error. Download corrupted.

I was pushed the KK update for TMo HTC one. The update was dowloaded, after that it verifies the contents of the firmware. It is failing saying "Download is corropted' and asks to dowload again. I downloaded it 3 times , everytime i am getting the same error. I soft reseted the phone and checked and downloaded again. No luck.
Later i killed the 'updater' app and cleared its app cache (some 20kb of data was there) via the setting-> apps-> All- > Updater. Now the in setting when i check for the update it dosen't show me the 4.4 update available
Is there any way by which i can update it via the PC ? I could not find any tool from HTC for it, sync manager dosen't do firmware update.
P.S : Phone is on 4.3 , never rooted, no custom roms. Just network unlocked via network code from T-MObile.

You have a couple options I can think of. Back up all your data using adb. Copy your internal storage and paste it onto your computer, thereby making a back up of all your internal data. Use the tmobile RUU to take your phone back to full stock using this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672425 . Download and update your phone. Using adb again, restore your apps and settings. Repaste from your comp, all your internal storage again.
Second option is to download from the General forum the OTA file. Paste it into the update folder on your phone. Then reboot your phone and it should see the update and allow you to update hopefully. However, you would need someone to tell you which folder to put it into. I actually copied it from my phone but I forgot which folder it came from.
Any idea you could remember it ?
