My data speeds are very consistent at 8mbps down and 2mbps up, with some high tens here and there. Doesn't really matter, but I was getting 15 down with my old One S. No big deal, but just wondering if T-Mobile is capping the speeds. It is not the throttling that happens after going over the 2GB or 5GB limit. This is in Boston.
The only caps you speak of are only by the technology you're using I.e. 3g, HSPA+, LTE.
And before you ask...Google knows those numbers

Yes, but I am sure that I'm in an HSPA+ zone. Theoretical caps of 42mbps. I've had 15mbps constantly with my old One S. Now, it's half that with my One. Same place in my room.

Hi All,
I have an AT&T Note. Both phones of course get AT&T's "4G." With both of these phones I have regular issues of data slowing to upwards of 3000ms Ping, speeds around 10-150kbps download, and 10-50kbps upload. How is this possible? It's driving me nuts, because when the damn thing works, it flies, but when it doesn't the speeds are so slow it is pretty much unusable.
EDIT: Also, on my phone the ping is always around 190ish when working well, whereas his is usually around 95. We do not live in an LTE area.
Are both on a 4g lte plan u need to go in to a att store cause thats what happen to me

I just called, and I do have that plan. Even though I am not in an LTE area, should I have an LTE sim?
I just signed with att got a note was really fast first bit.... then I rooted stock rom... still decent hspa speeds...THEN THE KICKR!
I flashed unofficial in cwm then Ics revamped
Now speeds are like 515mb download and 700mb uploads .THIS IS A FAR CRY FROM HSPA SPEEDS.
So leading to my question I recently hit 3g threshold and I read that att will and does cap speeds ONLY FOR THE UNLIMITED DATA USERS AFTER 3gb
Is this true for any new gb data plan Or is the rom flashing or Rom choice causing my speeeds to slow out of nowhere..
I Just left Sprint for att and now I'm being reminded of sprint speeds

Its supposed to be 5gb for LTE unlimited plan iirc.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
If you just signed you are on a 3gb plan and get charged extra after that. As for the speeds could just be a bad time of the day
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I'm assuming you have the $50 5g plan? At&t doesn't throttle unless you're grandfathered on an unlimited plan. They tend to throttle after you hit 5g. That shouldn't be your problem.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
The only time your throttled is if your on an old grandfathered data plan. If ur on a new 5gb and go over theyll charge $10 per Gb..no throttling.

There's a work around where you can change your apn and get lower HSPA+ speeds back while being thottled.

Att does not throttle there limited plans greenhouse they can charge you more when you go over. If on unlimited you can get your full speed back very easily through the ImEi trick.

Must have been a bad time of day Yes i.signed on for 5g 50$plan... my speeds were really like.515 very slow..while on ics rom... i.ODIN back to stock and hit 3-9mb download speeds on speed test
So.someone justify that. .and thats hspa not lte.We have no lte yet in my area. .soon tho.
Im not to sure about some.of the roms that are out for the phone..

I'm on the 5GB/$50 plan, and get about those speeds on HSPA, usually around 5 mbps. I've seen as high as 19 on LTE. I can confirm that plan has no throttling.

Need to make sure those different readings are at the same time of day and same location. That difference could be you not being in as heavily as saturated of an area with more people using their phone and/or during peak data times. Speedtests are often better for residential areas vs industrial/business park areas and its all about time of day. With mobile devices being more used by businesses you'll see slower speeds during regular business hours.
All about what tower you're on and how many others are too! Thankfully with LTE atleast for now its the difference between lightspeed and ludicrous speed! Not 4G and uuuuh 2G!
And as others have answered at&t only throttles grandfathered unlimited data customers.

3G (7.2 Mbps), 3G (14.4 Mbps) , 3G (21.6 Mbps), 3G (21.8 Mbps)
out of above four which i can use on my PHOTON ?
Weird question.... But you can expect around 2 to 5 megaBITS depending on the location as Sprints 3g speeds are slower than Christmas in most places due to the transitioning over to LTE. There are 8 bits in a byte of data. So that translates to roughly 200 to 400ish kilobytes per second. Keep in mind its entirely possible to hit over 8 megabits (1000kbs) in some locations but it seems to me the people getting these speeds are few and far between.
I think hes referring to gsm 3g

Hello,
I am coming from an iPhone 4S that was on the 3G market to the HTC One which is on the 4GLTE market. I currently have unlimited data.
However, since I received my HTC One, I have only had 2 or 3 bars. My D/L speed is around 2Mbps and my U/L speed is lucky to reach 1Mbps.
Has anyone else had similar issues? I am located in the DC/Baltimore area.
Thanks
Orlando Fl. Speeds on LTE I got as high as 60down and 17up. Screaming fast!

That doesnt seem anything like an LTE speed, try again at different time of day. I get around 30d 20u here.

I am in my work building, I am hoping that is the reason.
Could be that the network is extremely congested in the big city that you are in.
Make sure you have LTE enabled on your account. You MIGHT need a new SIM but I doubt it.
I've been using the same sim since my iPhone 4s

Yup, I made sure they checked. Also, when I run the speedtest, it shows that I am on the LTE network. I will try once I am out of the office and hope for an improvement or else this could cause issues moving forward.
Are ya running a custom Rom? Some of them caused an ATT signal issue that's since been fixed. I'm using trick droid configured as international base with good signal

I get around 12 down, 8 up in Los Angeles...
HTC One (stock) in Rochester, NY: 20-30 Mbps down, 20-22 Mbps up. The upload is fairly consistent, but the download is all over the place. With Verizon
4G LTE, I used to get 25-45 Mbps down, 15-20 Mbps up.
LTE on my One is almost 2x as fast as my Note 2. It's blazing fast in SoCal

If you didn't swap out your SIM card that is your problem. Swap it out and make sure you are on the lte unlimited this should fix your problem.
Once AT&T gets LTE to our area, I'll let ya know It ends 55 miles south of me in Healdsburg. We have LTE here, but from Verizon, U.S. Cellular and Metro PCS. That said, I did get a chance to test it on our monthly Costco run to Santa Rosa, and maxed out at 46 down and 22 up.
At my home in Long Beach, I average 13d, 3-4u
At work in Compton, I average 23-30d, 10-15u - with the highest download being 41 (in Compton)
In Youngstown, Ohio, a small market between Cleveland & Pittsburgh, we just got LTE, but it's on limited towers. I have to go 2 streets down from my house to even get my phone to stay on LTE. Here are my speeds when on, though. Pretty good, Id say!
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I get 25 up and 10 down at my house. Haven't tested anywhere else. better than my iphone 4 on 3g obviously lol. Could be a lot better though.
singnal or area problem.
too many people use the same base station with you maybe
near miami
I get 20-25 mbps up and around 7 down
Anyone else been having very slow speeds on Verizon lately? It's been slowing down for a few months now. I used to get 20 - 30mbps download and lately it's been averaging around 5mbps. I've already tried "resetting" the phone & even switching roms. I'm wondering if it's network congestion or if they're finally throttling me(since I have unlimited data still).
I am also unlimited...just ran a speed test and hit 40.6mbps. Usually I'm around 25-30 though.

Here in Philly LTE speeds have been horrible, as low as .5mbps for me. And that was tested a couple of weeks ago. Data is essentially useless, so I just bumped down to a 250 meg package. I try use wifi everywhere I go, or try not to use data. Gettin' real bad.
Data speeds entirely depend where you live and who else is using the bandwidth. If you live in a crowded city you might not get great speeds during peek time. If you live in a rural area if you even have LTE there like me the speed is basically consistent I get about 20-30mbps at best. However like mentioned before I just try to use wifi all the time because I am limited to my 2gb and wifi is usually avaliable to me.

It's never even kinda-snappy here in Philly. Plain slow, all the time.
I've just generally not been getting good speeds anywhere. I get about 16/4 (D/U) in the best area of my house (my room) but the living room is like 8/1.8... I mainly use it for uploading. (TWC ISP gets me about 15/1mbps) My friends house in the town over I barely get 3G. However closer to the lake (erie) I can get 20-30.
Fastest I've ever got was 36/32 in Detroit.
Also I should mention that I've never seen speeds get better since I switched from AT&T to Verizon...
Inc -> rezzy -> DNA
Forgot to mention my house is on a lake if that has anything to do with signal and speed.

In Jersey City and Newark, NJ the speeds are god awful (less than .5mbps consistently). I tried calling Verizon about it, but they really didn't care.
