i've tried flashing new CM7 on my atrix 4g
i've flash first the update before the CM7 itself dumb me
now im stuck on the "m" logo with unlocked word on the upper left corner
i saw threads that you need to flash a newer version of CWM (preferably the touch)
how can i flash CWM touch?
Through fastboot.
Who said touch is preferrable?

the people at the thread they say its awesome
my fastboot is not working, now how can i install the cwm? mine says goapk.com
should i install it thru android recovery?
You need an unlocked BL.
my phone is rooted and it says unlocked at the upper left corner
when i fastboot it says battery too low but my phone is not chargin dang...
OK, then you need an external charger.
i've done the charge thing and still too no avail i still can't get past thru fastboot
when i try the fastboot it get stuck on the dual core logo and eveything heats up
can i install the touch cwm inside the android recovery? like installing a new rom? can i do that?
No you can't. That's the whole idea. If you could, fastboot and an unlocked BL would hardly be necessary, don't you think?
Not sure what's with the heating up, but your phone only looks like it's stuck. There's a procedure on how to use fastboot that involves using command lines on your computer. Did you follow it?
i really dont know about that sorry
i really want to make my phone run again stupid me
i've flashed first the kernel before the CM7 zip itself maybe thats why it is stuck
After you download all the tools and drivers needed and have a recovery image you want (check other threads for links), all you need to do is connect the phone to the computer, set the phone to fastboot mode, and type something like this in the command prompt on the computer:
Code:
moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Again, check other threads for links and more details.
I've downloaded atrix fastboot with recovery image hope this works! x-fingers xD

recovery didnt flash, you arent bricked. just flash team win project recovery
Definitely not bricked, you probably just scared a whole bunch of people.
Follow this i had the same issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192245
when i open the fastboot.exe the adb shell windows (dos) opens and closes extremly fast no idea what it said
some people need to learn the definition of Bricked.
Bricked= exactly that the phone is now good for. a brick. (A.K.A: paperweight, doorstop, etc.) lol
yeah, just do what the others of told you, you'll get it squared away.

Is your file called "recovery-twrp-shooter-1.0.0.img"? Also is it in the same folder as ADB/Fastboot?
okay finally got the image to flash start to send once on writing image fails remote partition does not exist
had to type
fastboot flash image recovery-twrp-shooter-1.0.0.img in the cmd prompt

It is
fastboot flash recovery recovery-twrp-shooter-1.0.0.img
that you need to type in cmd. You have to tell it where to flash (in this case the recovery partition).
Let me know if that works for you.
thanks for your help now i have recovery working my phone still wont boot up ill have to find a factory rom on the web
Your welcome. Glad I could help!
There is a rom in the development section. Not sure if it works though. You could run the RUU and then redo everything now that you know exactly how.
Have you tried a factory reset from the bootloader after getting the recovery to work?
just did a factory reset thru TWRP and its stuck on the HTC logo screen trying to boot up same issue as earlier Im not sure why my phone will not boot up. seems like only thing i can do is access the bootloader
How long do you wait before you decide it wont boot?
10-15 minutes should i wait longer?
Nah, that should be good. http://forum.xdadevelopers.com/showthread.phpt=1092957&highlight=ruu
Do this then the whole process over.
Hey guys.
I am assuming my phone is not "bricked" because I can still get to the clockworkmod interface and mount usb and things like that, but I cant get any roms to load. I followed all the instructions and multiple videos to make sure I did my 1.5 right. Seems to be find as far as root. When I logged in to my old backup i had superuser and all.
I tried to install the WARM rom, but didnt work, so i restored my backup and bought Flash Image GUI which then I loaded the WARM zip and it said it found the Kernel and went to install it. It then asked me to reboot, which I did, and then proceeded to install the rest of the ROM via clockwork install ZIP, after doing that I can no longer even restore my backup.
If i try to load WARM, it just sits at white HTC screen and never changes. If I try to load MIUI, it loads to HTC screen, makes a sound and then goes black forever with backlight on but black and buttons lit.
That is all I can currently do. My backup no longer loads or works.
Is my phone bricked? I dont think so since I can get to clockworkmod, but what can I do to try to get it back up and running?
Thanks,
M374llic4.
Your kernel is most likely the problem. When using the the flash image GUI, dont accept when it asks you to reboot, manually hold down the power button and reboot yourself. Hook up your phone to the computer and boot into fastboot usb and fastboot boot recovery.img then install the warm rom. This will ensure you have access to flash the kernel.

Same issue as the guy above it seems.. but when I go into the boot loader - click fastboot and it picks up the usb.. i still can't get them to talk.. any idea's?

When you rooted your phone, you should have downloaded a folder called newevo3droot or something like that. There's adb files, fastboot..etc and this is how you would have flashed clockworl recovery. Since you are on hboot 1.5, you need to go into fastboot and connect usb so that it says fastboot-usb, then you need to run the command fastboot boot recovery.img. Recovery.img is the name of the recovery image file in that folder. I think it's something like cwm******.img
I did download that, and had some help from someone in the IRC channel and he got me back up up and running! Turns out you have to use USB fastboot on the phone along with fastboot.exe via cmd prompt on the pc with the CWM.exe to load the kernel, then once you do that, you use the phone cwm load from zip to load the rest of the rom and you are good to go!

Yeah, thats what I did with some help from a fellow XDA member via IRC and it worked perfect! I was trying to do it all via the CWM on the phone side only, not via command prompt which was my issue.

I just go the phone today and I have unlocked it and it all went well. I was looking at installing ViperDNA on to my phone. So I started to follow instructions in the Viper thread
1. I "tried" to install TWRP through the Goo method and after downloading the file it told me that recovery was no installed.
2. I rebooted in to bootloader and hit power button to enter fastboot then I scrolled down to where it says recovery and I hit power again. Phone displayed a message up the top that it was now entering recovery. The phone did not go to recovery it simply rebooted all the way back to my phones home screen.
I then though hmm well maybe I didn't install it properly so I follwed the instructions using Goo again but still nothing happened.
I noticed there was an alternative method to flash recovery by using ADB. I put the file in to the same directory as where my adb/fastbood reside and I booted in to fastboot again and in cmd prompt I entered "flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.0.0-dlx.img"
It seemed to flash and gave me a response which I can't remember now but it said OK!.
I then proceeded to try and enter recovery again but this time it has sent my phone in to a bootloop. It will not pass the Droid splashscreen. I can however still access bootloader mode.
I also noticed now in my Bootloader above where it says Unlocked it also says Tampered?
Phone doesn't seem to be recognised by ADB anymore neither. adb devices returns with a blank space
I'm a long time Samsung user so usually in this situation I would use Odin and flash a stock firmware but I don't know the process with HTC
I don't have a backup because I hadn't got to this stage yet!
Any advice as to what to do now

if you can still get the phone into fastboot mode then you should be fine.. when in fastboot mode the command "adb devices" will not return any entries.. when in fastboot you should use the command
fastboot devices
and see if your phone shows up there.. also the command for flashing a recovery in fastboot is:
fastboot flash recovery "your recovery filename.img" without the quotations though..
so the exact command would be the fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.0.0-dlx.img if that is what the recovery file on your computer is named.
then hit enter it should say sending etc...
I always then do the command
fastboot reboot-bootloader then the phone will reboot into the fastboot screen, then manually select recovery and see that it worked that time.

After attempting this it hangs here:
C:\Android-adb>fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.0.0-dlx.img

EDIT* Rookie mistake for it hanging. I was only in bootloader not Fastboot. However, this worked and I love you. I will now flash Viper. Do I still need to flash the Kernel Modules?

lol. Now Aroma is being a pain in the ass. It won't let me click Next to install. haha
EDIT* Maybe because of the smaller TWRP or maybe not but I had to try again and then click next but about 2" higher than where it says it :S
I am not a huge fan of aroma... i had issues when i tried to flash my DNA the first time.. that is something that you just have to keep trying unfortunately it seems... i have seen where people had to aroma freeze on them multiple times before finally completing the flash... some tips i have seen is keep the phone flat... also keep it plugged in.. I can't vouch for any of these being actual fixes but hey "it's only weird if it doesn't work"
Do you know the load time on a ROMs first boot after flash?
The ROM said it was installing and at about 8% the screen went all grey and then rebooted in to the HTC splash screen and hasn't changed for about 15 minutes. Tried it twice
EDIT* Would only flash using CWM

All good. Thanks for your assistance
I am usually the guy helping other people. It's quite an unusual change going from Samsung to HTC!
Alright, so i have an EVO 4g lte and i attempted to root it today. It didnt turn out very well to say the least... I unlocked bootloader and flashed TWRP recovery.I then flashed superSU, and at the same time i flashed a custom rom and gapps zip. Then hit reboot. It has not booted up since.. It will just sit at the white HTC screen. i tried clearing cache and Dalvik cache, also did a factory reset. tried flashing cm10 rom onto the device as well as a rooted stock rom. nothing works! the farthest i have gotten was with the cm10 rom and it went to the cyanogenmod boot logo but was in bootloop still. I downloaded the ADT tool bundle but the phone wont show up on the device list. Can anyone help? im completely stumped.. Im fairly new to rooting and custom roms, but i have rooted multiple tablets and samsung galaxy phones and havent had any issues. this is my only phone also, i just gave my backup to my mother because her phone broke... please if anyone knows how to fix this let me know. when i boot into recovery mode it says Tampered and Unlocked at the top as well as S-On. I can also go into TWRP recovery with no problems. just cant use fastboot with my computer (windows 7 PC).
I am pretty sure i know what i did wrong, I flashed SuperSU to gain root at the same time i flashed the custom rom and gapps.. on all the other devices i would reboot after root and then flash the custom rom seperately.. but is there a way to correct my mistake?
Since you are s-on you have to fastboot flash the boot.img/kernel first and then flash CM and gapps
Any questions PM me
OK sorry to be a noob but how do I do that? I used cmd.exe while rooting but now it won't recognize my device. Much thanks for any help!!
Sent from my GT-P5110 using xda app
If in bootloader type fastboot devices
In recovery type adb devices
See if you get a reply
In fast boot USB menu on the phone, I typed fastboot devices on cmd and it came up blank.

Sounds like a driver issue
1.Uninstall everything HTC from your PC
2.Reboot your PC
3.Plug your phone in and it will load a bunch of drivers
4.Try the command again
If that does not work get the latest drivers from HERE use the ones dated 6/6/13
and don't forget the BMP drivers towards the bottom of post 1

yes they are talking now. fastboot devices and my phone shows up.
i tried fastboot flash boot.img but it wont recognize the command, i placed the boot.img file into the platform-tools folder inside my C drive. what am i doing wrong? its late at night and im frustrated so i know im screwing something up...
ok good BTW which version of twrp are you using? Let me know before you continue.
pull the boot.img from the rom zip and copy it to the folder you opened your cmd window from
then type fastboot boot boot.img
once it says successful press the power button to return to HBOOT and use the vol keys to navigate to recovery
Once there choose wipe and wipe cache/dalvik cahce/system/data or factory reset depending which version of twrp you are using
then flash CM and gapps
C:\Users\Corey>fastboot boot boot.img
cannot load 'boot.img': No error
thats what i typed in and thats what it said back to me. not quite sure what the problem is.
the boot.img is placed in the same folder as the fastboot application

same thing, cannot load unknown error. also i am using twrp 2.6.0.0
Ok lets try something different at least it will get you up and running
Get twrp v2.4.1.0 from http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/jewel
put it in the same folder you are using and we will downgrade your twrp for now
copy and paste this in the cmd window
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-jewel.img
then fastboot erase cache
ok got the twrp done succesfully as well as the wipe cache. whats next? i think i figured out what i was doing wrong, i hadnt opened the file directory. cd downloads, cd android files, etc.
should i try going into recovery now on the phone and flash a rom, or should we stay on fastboot and push the boot.img?
Easiest way to open a cmd window is to press shift and right click inside the folder and choose open cdm window here
That way you know you are in the correct folder.
Yeah go ahead and try to flash the boot.img again
So I have been installing this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2188931 .
I installed just the rom and not the update and now my phone will not boot it turns onto the htc first screen and vibrates a few times.
I have tried going into recovery mode and starting again but recovery does not now boot the phone restarts and the above happens.
I have installed fast boot on my computer but when I run it, it flashes up for a second then closes.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Well, without knowing any details about your phone and what update you were on, which recovery you used, whether or not you are S-On / S-Off, then we're just shooting in the dark trying to help.
If fastboot flashes for a sec and closes, then you are not using fastboot right. You have to run it from the Command Prompt. You don't double click on the fastboot.exe .
Can you still get to the bootloader mode?
And I have to ask, but you're sure you got the right rom from the right forum as there are quite a few different variants of the Desire...?

I can still get into bootloader fine on the phone and my pc knows its contected via usb.
I know the phone was running a different recovery mode than standard but I don't know witch one. I think it may have been xloader or something with a x.
Its a standard desire. Regards Wayne
I have manged to load bootloader with command prompt and I want to remove the rom I have installed how do I go about this? Regards again, Wayne
O.K so I have loaded up bootloader and thought -w would be the command I am looking for, all I get from bootload on my computer is: waiting for device. I have attached a screen shot. Regards Wayne
You'll have to find an appropriate recovery.img and use fastboot to install. Make sure the img file is in the fastboot directory and while connected in bootloader/fastboot mode:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (where recovery.img is the name of your file - it can be whatever.img and you can rename it to whatever you want as long as you don't change the extension .img)
and see if you can boot to recovery at that point. If not, then you will probably have to use an RUU to return to stock and start over.
If you can get into the custom recovery, then you can reinstall another rom. Keep in mind, if S-On, then you will probably need to use fastboot to install the boot.img like so:
fastboot flash boot boot.img (here boot.img should remain named that)
