Hello all, I have the xv6800, dcd rom 3.3.4 and activesync and internet sharing setup on Windows just fine. However, I have recently gotten a MAC, and I have not been able to get the internet sharing to work via BT or USB. I can understand BT cause I was never able to get it set up on windows either. I don't mind the USB connection, it's alwasy been more stable and a snap to set up with the ROM. However I can't get it working on the MAC. Is there a driver or app that needs to be installed on the mac side? The only think I remember doing on the WIN side is installing the modem driver.
On Mac, I have installed Missing Sync installed and I have been able to attach and sync my winmo phone without issue, so I know I have connection. but I cannot get the internet sharing to work. I checked out the verizon site and they state that they do not make a modem driver for the mac os.
I should also mention that I have winXP set up on the mac thru VMware, but I have been unsuccessful getting this to work the way my original windows laptop is setup. I dont want to set it up that way anyway if I can avoid it.
I am curious if anyone has this working via USB?? I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere. I couldn't find anything related and certainly not specific to this ROM.
I did find this, http://www.keithtastic.com/post/3997...-to-sprint-htc, but it states to buy an app called USB Modem program from www.mobile-stream.com. but wouldnt the ISC app on the dcd rom provid the same functionality?
Thanks for any/all help

then just use internet sharing form the phone as normal?
no offense but that didnt help at all. I can connect my phone via BT themac sees it, but all I can do is browse device. I need to set up a connection with my phone to the mac and get online via my phone. I dont careif its bluetooth or not. I have the new macbook btw, if it matters
goon55: Like you, I always used a VM workaround to tether back when I had a Mac. I haven't tried this, but I've heard Syncmate allows Internet Sharing on Mac systems. Good luck!
I have no issues connecting my macbook for my 6800.
After you set it up like the other poster told you to, you should have a phone icon next to the bluetooth icon at the top right of the screen. click the phone icon then "connect bluetooth".

also when setting up the BT relationship, make sure you select the network services (i believe, there are one or two services you can check)...on the phone make sure you start BT and internet sharing (with BT selected) and when you go to the BT menu on the mac, your phone name should be under "devices", expand your phone name and select connect to network.
just trying to clarify a bit.
i had it
i had bt working for a bit and then was disconnected abruptly.
after deleting the profiles of the pairings on both the titan and the mac, it still wont share the connection although the phone will be connected in bt system prefrence pane, (where you select devices).
when it worked, i would select the phone in the device select, and underneath clicking on the gear to a menu option to 'connect to network'
it worked that wayfor 3 mins.
also, when i configure the device, if i set the phone to internet share while the mac is discovering the services, i get two options to select instead of just one:
access the internet
use device as network port.
edit: got it, apple talk active
best software you can use is http://www.wmwifirouter.com/ it works over BT or wifi and uses your phone's regular data access address which means you don't get tethering charges. NOTE I use the free version, and I have tried the tiral and although it does work, my mogul does not seem to like it and has little quirks after I install it (wifi turns on when I reset even if the switch is off, I don't why but its there).
Hi everyone, I've been trying to use my Windows Mobile phone as a modem for the Macbook, but so far I only see people being able to connect via BT. Problem with that for me is that BT drains both my laptop and phone battery quicker, so I'm trying to find a solution to connect via USB instead. Has anyone been able to surf on their Mac using their Windows Mobile phone as a modem via USB cable?
What you want is Mobile Stream USB Modem for Windows. Windows here being Windows Mobile, it works with my Mac.
Once you set it up, your phone is seen as a USB Modem and you dial from the Mac to this port. There is a free trial, take time to test it, read the forums, I had some initial issues to get it work right, but now it is good, I ended up purchasing it.
Tried BT sharing too, but too instable and drops. Tried the WiFi sharing, but eats battery...
Only downside: as you dial the data modem, it will fail if it is already in use (background email checking on your phone...). I have to disconnect the data connection on the phone to be able to dial from the Mac, otherwise it reports Port Busy.
Thanks for the recommendation, will try it out. Any other solutions in the meantime to connect and share the Internet connection from my Windows Mobile phone to Mac via USB?
I had the same problem, and tried everything recommended in the thread - no dice. I ended up just installing WMWifiRouter and that works like a champ.

This is for cingular, but I'm sure this can be attempted no matter what the provider.
I've been looking for a solution as well, and have yet to find one for USB Internet Sharing on a Mac. I currently just use Bluetooth with an external charger on the phone and laptop since it'll eat the battery of both quickly.
Hi all,
A few variations of my question seemed to have been asked but I've not really found anything that has helped me.
I would like to clarify with any of you network guru's the correct setup between my PC and Prime for browsing network shares (or indeed just my entire PC if poss).
Currently my Win 7 PC sharing settings are as follows:
Network Discovery: On
File and Printer Sharing: On
Public Folder Sharing: Off
Media Streaming: Off
File Sharing Connections: 128 bit
Password Protected Sharing: On
I have a number of shares already setup from when I was using my Home group (which is now disabled as I use a separate app for managing media across the home network). I've tried variations of the above settings with no luck (e.g. Media sharing on, password protected sharing off etc).
I've fiddled with the permissions on some of the folders so that either 'Everyone' or my Windows user account has Full control however the Prime refuses to see these shares. It detects the PC (I've tried ES File Explorer and File Expert, which in the past have worked with other Samba shares which puzzles me even more) but refuses a connection as either Anonymous or with my Windows credentials entered in both apps. Other network apps connect fine (Splashtop HD, Plex, SABnzbd+ etc).
Help? I'm pulling my hair out at this stage as I just don't see why this is so hard... As mentioned, my Prime has worked with other SMB shares (I used to have a NAS for example), File Expert even worked briefly when I had the homegroup enabled but I don't want that running anymore as I want greater control over my network shares (realistically, the only person I want viewing/editing files/folders on my PC is me and likely only from my Prime).
Sigh...
Hey,
As we have wifi direct in our phones, i would like to ask if someone knows how to use it with our PC's or notebooks? I have Windows 7 x64 and i know that i could use Samsung Kies Air or smthing like that (e.g. ftp server) but it's not to easy to use and fast. I often need to send 1 small file from or on smartphone and it seams easy with it, but i can't use it anyway. I heared some rummors that Windows 8 will have WiFi Direct support, but i can't believe that there is no support from even 3rd party aplications on this very popular system.
So... anyone know any solutions on how to use it? Since we have it, it would be nice to use it sometimes
Why you don't try with airdroid?
Sent from SGSII//CM9 >>xBlackDroid<<
AFAIK it works just like Kies Air - using wireless router to connect pc with phone and it's not what i'm looking for. It seams better app that Kies Air - ok, but still uses similiar ideas like many other apps even on phones that does not have Wifi Direct. It gives you almost same feature for file transfer as Wifi direct but it's not that. I could use it, but i want to try this standard and i'm looking for any way to do it, not any workarounds for that - i already know them
As for my notebook wlan card - it's Atheros 928X and i found somewhere that it does support Wifi Direct with new drivers (which i have).
I would test it on Windows 8 R.P. but it seams pointless just to test it. I'd like to use it on my Win7
As for reason - it looks just easier to use becose i don't have to use both device when i want to transfer file - I just click in "share" -> via WiFi and it's done (or turn WifiD. on before).
Did u try AirDroid ??
you can use wifi direct and adhoc on one soluution from intel.
it is baed on intel's wifi cards - more ifo here: http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/imwd/sb/CS-033754.htm?wapkw=wifi+direct
you need to instal itnels wifi managemen sw + wifi dashboard. if not you wont be able to use wifi direct.
it is working as adhoc really nice but I was not able to send wifi direct any files even it did connect properrly. looks like kind of bug
using gsg2 with neatrom
Try using Airdroid
WiFi Direct is designed for both devices to directly connect to each other with their built in WiFi network adapters. I don't think it works if one of them is a PC on a LAN with an access point.
Use WiFi File Explorer.
Es file explorer, set your pc in lan settings.
Share folders on Pc, then access them with es file explorer

Hi,
I have a HTC Sensation XL running ICS, the device is not rooted. Does anyone know of any apps that I can use to remotely access a hard disc attached to my home router?
What I want to achieve is kind of my own cloud storage system, I have seen these networked hard drives that attach directly to your broadband router rather than being inside a P.C and then computers on the home network can access this hard drive via the router, kind of like a central storage area for every one in the household. Well I want to set up the same thing but with the added bonus of being able to access the HDD when I am out of the house as well, via my phone or android tablet. I spend a lot of time in the country on my own and fill my devices with music and films etc and basically I want to access my entire library of media remotely. I have tried drop box, sugar sync, Skydrive etc but they do not provide any where near enough storage space for my needs, at least not for free and if I can achieve the above I will not be limited by the storage capacity of the device.
I currently use Pocketcloud to access files on my PC when I am away from home and this is fine for when the computer is turned on but when its not obviously I cant access anything, my theory is that a HDD connected directly to my router would be accessible 24 hours day as it should be independent of my PC, the question is how to actually set this up.
I have tried using ES File explorer to detect my home network but it wont for some reason, I was hoping that if I got it to find my network it might allow me to do the above however I could be wrong so any advice that people could give regarding this would be great.
Thanks
Ben
Hey guys i have been trying to figure out how to use this wifi streaming and copy thing for the past month but cant really get anywhere....
ALL i want to do is access my windows shared folder from my phone and play movies or even copy them...and maybe send my phone files to pc without usb via directly WIFI
but the many tutorials are always referring to use a router which i dont have
all i have is a laptop with wifi bluetooth and my htc one x
SO my question is if i can enable the wifi to turn into hotspot why cant i use that same wifi to create a Wireless LAN for my hox to connect???
i know android doesnt support Ad-hoc yet but there is a way to create a LAN via access point right??
SO far i used connectify to create a Wireless LAN then use ES file manager to get access to my shared folder....but its sooo slow and when i open a media file it says server time out
so how exactly is the wifi supposed to be used as a substitute to USB??
Please guys any help is appreciated
