First off check out these three guides for recovering deleted texts:
1. How to Find Saved Text Messages on SIM Card
2. How to Retrieve Text Messages from Someones Phone
3. How to Restore Deleted Text Messages
Next I would get an application like SMS Backup + this will backup and restore your SMSs to Gmail and Google Calendar you can also schedule it to backup up your SMSs automatically.
Finally after you have safely backed up your current SMSs find the application and select clear default cache and see if that works. Hope this helps you

Hello All,
I have a co-worked that backup all her SMS messages. Sadly, she does not know which program she used. It is a relatively new Samsung Galay Phone on the Verizon Network. The file has a .BK files extension. I copied the file to my Galaxy Tablet, and I tried to use the SMS Backup & Restore program, sadly it say's "Can't Open File".
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thank you....
[Q] Need SMS restored from Kies .bk file
I rooted and flashed BeanStalk and mistakenly relied on Kies to backup the SMS history. Now I'm left with a .bk file and having trouble finding an app that can read it. Google search didn't help and forum search is down right now. Any help...

I saw this 10 year old article before I posted. My Co-Work would not have rooted the phone, or know what that means.
