Carbon Rom issues - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I'm not sure if anyone else experiences this, but when I install any release of carbon, the home button doesn't work. It isn't just a hardware problem, even with the touch screen nav bar enabled, the home button still doesn't work. I have formatted everything. The browser opens and closes immediately, the status bar toggle menu won't show, and the lock screen doesn't show. This rom looks amazing, but it seems like i have some rare problem that hasn't been brought up before.
These problems are still active even in LiquidSmooth. I will be trying other AOKP based roms later.

I'm using carbon now and I don't have those issues. I was using liquid with no issues until the recent update, now my browser closes when trying to view flash content.
Carbon has several versions for different devices. Make sure you're using the one for your device.

I'm using this version: i605. I've only seen this problem being mentioned once before. I really want this rom:/ guess I'll go back to pacman. Do you know any other 4.2.2 rom that is stable, and has the camera in the lockscreen?

No I don't, sorry. I don't use the special lockscreen features.
You can try rootbox.

I'm having the same issue. Home screen button is not working and lock screen isn't either. When I hit the home button on the nav bar it shows as being hit but nothing happens. It's driving me nuts.

Long-pressing home stops bringing up "recent apps" after awhile (completely stock)
Hey folks -
Long-pressing the home/Verizon button will usually bring up the recent apps window with the task manager and other buttons on it. However, after some time, it stops working and doesn't bring up anything until I reboot the phone. But it keeps happening over and over again, kinda annoying. Has anyone had the same experience? Any known fixes? I feel the haptic feedback from it too... :-/
Thanks!

Yeah, I am currently running Beans v7, but I experienced the same issue on stock ROM also. I thought maybe going to Beans it would subside, but had no luck there.

Do you use a launcher? I had this issue with Nova. I used my nandroid and it fixed whatever issue I had. I was messing around with some of my settings though.

I'm just using Touchwiz currently, but I do have some launchers installed.. Should I just remove those and see what happens? ....I haven't messed around with too much, but I'm glad that someone else had the same experience and actually fixed it! I'll try to remove the other launchers and see if it happens.. If you have any other techniques, please do let me know.
I can tell you that I'm using Nova Prime & have never had that problem........
I had this issue too on stock. Im on beans b7 and havent had an issue (but I go to my recent apps with LMT pie so im not too sure it's fixed)
A reboot fixed the problem. Weird issue though

I don't think removing the launchers will fix it. Maybe just try freezing them if you had TB. I ended up just restoring from a nandroid and haven't had the issue since.
I am also using Nova Prime.

Bug reports for Jelly Bean 4.1.2

Hi all,
I installed the latest official firmware from Samsung which was rolled out officially in Spain, and I wanted to take the opportunity to share two things that bother me:
1.) Lock screen shortcuts: any shortcut app on the lock screen (e. g. camera, flash light) still asks for the PIN. I thought the idea of the shortcuts was to avoid having to type in the PIN for non-security-related apps ...
2.) Keyboard language switching: the space bar wiping for switching the language is really nice, BUT: voice typing does not use the same language as the one specified for typing! When I go to voice typing, even worse, I have to select the language I want to dictate two times, the first time will not be recognized!
Ok, hopefully I am wrong but I rather doubt it... if anybody can confirm these things please let me know!

Well....lockscreen freeze on leak jb, that's a bug.
Shortcuts: PIN code selected as lockscreen security? If so, make sense that it'll prompt.
KB language: Got no idea, never used it.

If it's not a bug, what is the benefit? Suppose I have the flashlight app on my homescreen. If I want to access it I have to do:
- enter PIN
- tap on the icon
Now, with the great new lockscreen shortcuts, I do:
- tap on the icon
- enter the PIN
What's the benefit of the lock screen shortcuts, anyone?
What's the benefit of setting your lockscreen to ask you for a PIN number?
So that people can't access to your device.
Shorcuts play the same role.

Yes, the benefit of the PIN is security. I did not understand the rest of your answer.
As far as I understand, the widgets and shortcuts on the lock screen of the pure Android Jelly Bean, as it is installed on the Nexus 4, is the following: you can access some applications even without entering your PIN. This makes totally sense for some non-security related applications like the flashlight, or the music player. In the Samsung Jelly Bean adoption, I still have to enter the PIN code - so what's the sense of the shortcut then?
If something is not working as it is intended it is a bug. To me, this is a bug. Where can I file a bug report for the Samsung Jelly Bean?

On htc sense is the same. Has been since 2011 on Sense 3.
It's not a bug. No point reporting it, it makes sense, why would you set a password but apps can be opened from shortcuts?

So, what's the point of the shortcuts then? I don't see why it is faster to first press the icon and then enter the PIN, compared to first entering the PIN and then pressing the icon.
So you don't want anyone that hasn't your PIN code to use your phone, but you also don't mind them using whatever apps you got shorcuted on your lockscreen?
That's how you want your phone's security to work?

Galaxy S2 Omega v19.2 FC during charge
Hi all,
I have just installed the omega v19.2 rom and found a bug. If I put the USB cable to the phone (charger or my PC, does not matter) and let it switch off itself automatically, then I can not switch on the device again, have to pull out the battery and restart again. If I switch off the screen with the power button during charging than it does not freeze, i can switch it on again. Any solution?

[Q] Titanium backup not letting me click install

Never had this problem before, just flashed PA3+ and going to resore all my user apps + data but everytime I try to restore it doesn't let me click the actual install button. It's not greyed out or anything it's like that part of the screen doesn't work (it does by the way)
on google people are saying unknown sources install fixed this but it doesn't.
anybody know what's going on lol? probably an easy fix but never had this from all the other ROMs i've flashed
Thanks guys
(oh and whiles we're on it any way to get rid of the 3 buttons on the PA rom? I find it quite useless when i've got the exact same 3 buttons directly adjacent..)

is it just me or one of the option in gesture "Expand Notification Bar" collapse a little too fast like a 2-3 seconds after i pulled the bar down? or is there a setting to change that?
i think 2-3 secs is plenty of time to check whatever but i have mine set up as swipe down to show and swipe back up to hide it

Hi, the bar should stay down if it's been pulled down. Reinstalling Themer should fix this issue.

General (FIX!!!) 3rd Party Launchers and the Recent Apps button issues, consistent replication.

I'm sure some of you have experienced the Recent Apps button (3 button navigation) not working with 3rd party launchers (Nova, Microsoft, etc). The only fix I have been able to find is to switch the default launcher to the Pixel Launcher, and then back to your 3rd party launcher of choice.
Luckily, I have been able to replicate this problem consistently. While using a 3rd party launcher (Nova launcher in my case), open any app (and only one) and press the Recent Apps button 3 times quickly. The Recent Apps button should stop working. It does not break when there are no recent apps or when there are 2 or more.
Hopefully, this information might be helpful to minds smarter than my own.
If anyone else is experiencing this or is able to replicate the issue as well, I'd like to hear what your setup and experience with the issue is.
Your browser is not able to display this video.
I've been using Nova on my P6 since I got it, until 2-3 days ago anyway when I decided to try Gesture Navigation instead.
I've never had the issue you're showing, not a single time. What I DID encounter a few times is that instead of the proper Recents overview when tapping on Recents I'd only see a weird view of my homescreen, like when you longpress anywhere on the homescreen, except that it was ONLY the homescreen and no settings/wallpaper or other options. That happened randomly and was hard to reproduce, but I've never seen the issue you're showing in the video
Did you import/restore any apps/settings, esp. for Nova, when you set up the phone? That seems to cause a lot of issues when coming from a non-Pixel device. I hard a weird glitch were the display would briefly light up every 10-20 minutes when the phone was just sitting there untouched, a factory reset and fresh install of all apps fixed it.
Maybe try that too?

This is a fresh install of Nova. I Imported all my apps from my Galaxy S10+, so I'll try that and report back with results.
Other than that, what do you think of the gesture navigation? I pretty much wrote it off as soon as I got the phone.

I've never been a fan of it, never used it before and still don't like it. The only reason I'm trying it again is because I'm still not rooted and simply can't stand looking at that ugly white navbar (yea yea, I know I'm weird ). It works I guess, but getting to Recents for example is a hit & miss with gestures, navbar is much more reliable for me.
Whatever your issue is I hope you get it sorted

FIX!!!!!!
Settings > System > Developer Options > Animator duration scale
Turn to 'Animation off'
The Window animation scale and Transition animation scale has no effect on this.
After changing this, I have not been able to replicate this issue.
My best guess is that the recent apps button is pressed while the animation is still going, and the phone has the electronic equivalent of a mild stroke.
Can anyone else confirm that this corrects the issue? I haven't seen a solution like this on any of the many threads about this.

Turning animation off prevents the 'recents' button failure, but I wouldn't call it a fix since then animations won't work. Personally I will keep animations set to .5 and try not to press 'recents' too many times. The lack of animations gives the Nova UI a flat and amatuerish look.
This is a Nova bug, probably due to Android 12 incompatability, since it doesn't happen with the Pixel launcher. I guess we can hope that they correct it eventually.
Thanks for identifying the cause, I had this happen multiple times before I read your post and didn't have any idea what was causing it.

I have some shaky hands so I end up pressing the button a few times fairly often.
I think the issue is with Pixel Launcher. I have confirmed that this issue happens in other launchers as well (Microsoft Launcher). I also found that killing the Pixel Launcher fixes it too.

This. I have this problem where the recent apps don't show, and instead I just get a zoomed out version of my homescreen. This happens CONSTANTLY and is the most annoying thing about this phone. It happened to me on the stock launcher as well as on Nova.

I did tick that, because I couldn't open my recents menu to close apps. I just unticked that option, and still have the same issue happen when I hit the recents button.
It zooms out to a smaller version of my homescreen, and if I swipe up it will close the most recent app, then show the rest of the open apps, if I just swiped to the right to go to another open app, the smaller homescreen slides to the right off my screen but it doesn't show the other running apps. It's almost as if it's having an issue drawing the image of the open apps.

Not sure I'd call it a "fix" but since I switched to Gesture Navigation instead of using the navbar it hasn't happened once. Maybe the P6/A12 does something odd with the Recents button that needs to get fixed through an update, no idea.

I thought that would fix it as well, so I switched to navbar (which I prefer anyway) and it is happening there too . A12 is just so buggy, it's annoying, I hate that companies use the public as their beta testers nowadays
Just noticed it today had it since launch day. Only change was the fingerprint reader update I did yesterday.

Actually it worked very well, I was surprised. I used cable method that google recommended with the usb-c cable that came with the phone.
I have done LG to LG imports and Samsung to Samsung but never tried LG to Pixel.
I still had to do a lot of setup steps like passwords, set the home screen to Nova and handle the widgets. Be sure to go the play store and do an 'update all'. But it was much easier and quicker than doing a clean install. I figured I could always do that later if I suspected something was not working.
There are issues with the phone and Android 12 but so far I don't think any of them have to do with the install (of course I could be wrong).
Great! Thanks for the info.
