[Q] Jelly bean, no root. - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

So I did an OTA update to jelly bean when I had root on ics. I downloaded the Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper but forgot to do the temp unroot thing, well, I am stuck in Jelly bean without Root, Is there any way to root it back?

Thank you but is that possible with a locked bootloader?
Sorry for the late response, haven't been paying attention to it lately.

You need to relock the bootloader in order to use the official way to upgrade.

received OTA today, maybe jellybean? 12/24/12

I received an ota today, possibly jellybean I am running rooted stock firmware, with unlocked bootloader thanks to fresher
My question is does anyone know where the ota would download to in the filesystem since I am rooted I get an
Error code when I try to update firmware. I would be more then happy to upload the update as well.

why is this one so large and what i ssafestrap? the ics root i used was only a 7mb download.
Safestrap is for making a recovery backup, and flashing etc. its like a multi tool you can also flash roms with it.
That's always been the size?

Yeah use the one the other guy gave you, its large because it has allot of things you need, such as flash factory files, root, install ota keeper, and safestrap which lets you install roms. Its a really good utility, and its the only way you can get root on JB.

Started to look for a way to root xt910 jb

As I know no one who is looking for a root exploit for the job update I will start. So anyone else searching for it please write me a pm as we can team up.
But I find it really important that this thread isn't messed by people saying that they are needing root rights and have lost them because of the update. Everyone knows that and it's just not helpful. I will appreciate all help full contributions.

getting on quite good...
Glad to hear that. GL! Are you teaming up with anyone?

Not really... It's harder than I thought... Hmm don't know but all my intents too root the device are failing... Sometimes I look back on the time developing on HTC... Everything was easier... Hmm I'll try on... Just an update to inform u

Only working on xt912 because of the older smart action version...Looks like they have fixed it that's why we can use it as we have the newer version of smart actions and as it is a systemapp we can't downgrade or change to the needed version because you need root for it...

can't we take a rooted system of someone who managed to keep his root and create a flashable zip to use and thus gain a rooted system?

You surely could there are several in the dev section, however you'll need root first to instal through a custom recovery lol

Yeah but it might be possible to make an working ota zip with root by using the official one. Then you Don't need custom recovery

This approach will sooner give you a root canal than it will give you root. :cyclops:

[Q] After Unrooting.....

Hi,
I have root my I9205 after I bought it three months ago. (I just root it nothing more)
Now I want to upgrade the stock rom (coz there are some minor problems)
Will I be able to upgrade the Stock ROM (OTA) after unrooting my I9205??
Anything else I need to consider??
Many thx!!
Have you tried OTA yet?? Even being rooted???
Sent from my GT-I9205 using xda app-developers app
It say that my phone had been modified OTA cannot be applied

AFAIK OTA after rooting is not possible. Phone has to be 'virgin' stock to have possibility to upgrade by OTA.
Just flash the latest stock Rom, this will update and unroot all in one go.
