[Q] 5830i lost imei but can make call - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, i have a question.
I flashed Cronmod INT2EXT script and my S5830i lost its imei (Settings: IMEI Unknown, *#06# gives blank IMEI), but I am able to make and receive calls and SMS normally.
I was wondering why my phone doesn't lose signal, and can I get my IMEI back by flashing the original stock ROM?
Thanks

Yes you can get it back.
Anyone, XBOX360 With me?

is this problem due to the corrupted efs partition? I still have baseband, only lost imei, and I am eager to learn more about this problem. How can the network operator accept a phone w/o an imei?

Flashing original Firmware is not Guaranteed to give your IMEI back

Hi,
Lost my IMEI a couple of times too, each time I flashed the original Firmware I did not get My IMEI back. So Flashing the Firmware is not a guarantee that you will have your IMEI back. Its only a matter of time before your service provider stops they services.
Flash the original firmware and if you dont have you IMEI back download and install Google Toolbox- back up your EFS and Use Hex to get it back, its a pretty simple procedure and there is a guide on how to do it. There is a link somwhere on the SGS3 V3 ROM you can see it we discussed it there. If you still have the problem let me know and I will gladly help.
AND WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM IF YOU STILL HAVE THE SERVICES OF YOUR NEWORK PROVIDER???!!!

so, can I use Galaxy Toolbox to restore my IMEI without losing my INT2EXT script?

Well, I used Galaxy Toolbox to backup the efs partition and used Hex Workshop to open it and navigated to the address 0x80000, and it showed that my IMEI is still there, while *#06# gives blank imei and settings > about phone > status displays "unknown imei"
Could someone explain this? I am still using cronmod INT2EXT script.

Flash the original firmware, and then restore the IMEI as you did before, you will see it will be there. Then just flash a Kernel that supports init.d and mount the partition you will have your internal space back

And just out of curiosity which Rom are you using?
Cronmod is known to cause the loss of IMEI
RASTA NEVER DIES

I'm using stock ROM DXMC1
Baseband S5830iDXMC2
Rafael Kernel 2.6.35.7
Cronmod INT2EXT script
I just wonder if I could get my IMEI back without losing INT2EXT script ( I love this script as I have 3 GB of internal memory to freely install apps).
Galaxy toolbox still reconizes my IMEI now, so I don't know what happened with the efs partition.

3 GB internal memory!!! Are you crazy! You can install all the apps in the market and still have space. Now get this: whenever u use INT2SD the partition should not be more than 1.5GB at more than that you will have issues with it.

You can work on getting your IMEI back and then flash the script again, it takes less than 5 mins so why don't you do it?
There is no way you can get back your IMEI without loosing it, just get it back and flash the script again.
RASTA NEVER DIES

OK, I got my IMEI after flashing the original stock ROM.
I don't know if there is any good kernel that supports init.d apart from Rafael that can be installed on stock ROM.
I think that if I use cronmod again I will lose my imei again, so I'm looking for some other scripts. For the time being, I'm using Link2SD.

I just flashed back to stock then flashed another rom and got the IMEI number back. Its happened to me twice.

i9300 - MGM4 IMEI change and not working anymore

Hey guys, I have a rather weird problem.
After flashing UltimaRom with the thought that I backed my EFS as I usually do, I installed the MGM4 modem.
Turns out my EFS backup was removed the previous day and the new MGM4 modem isnt working for me at all.
My IMEI got changed to 00499010640000 which afaik is a fake IMEI that other people get too.
I tried reverting to my previous modem - XELLA - doesn't work - same IMEI.
I tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437839 ; I tried flashing a MGM4 VVT 4.1.2 Samsung stock rom and it also failed.
I'm open to your ideas.
P.S is there a way something similar like this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881162) would exist? I searched everywhere to find a similar thread but the method explained there isn't viable for i9300 it seems.

the 0049 IMEI isn't fake. It's a generic code given to such devices with either changed or corrupt efs.
See this thread for more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2393289 there are some methods there that should help you to restore your IMEI.
Take your phone to a service centre paid for repair is the easy way .

If you done have EFS Backup before you upgrade to MG4, you must flash modem to lower release and then restore your previous EFS backup.
As I said, I didn't have my previous EFS backup saved. It got deleted.
And sending it to repair is not an option since the closest repair center is 300km away.
Stick with the mg4 modem.
Reflash ultima, choosing the non-stock kernel option.
Failing that, flash back to full stock mg4.
Failing that, pay for 300km postage
I'm assuming with the above, you've not used "ariza patch". If my assumption is wrong, let me know

i9300 baseband version UNKOWN and NULL IMEI

Hello,
I have a big issue with my i9300. I flashed PDA: I9300UBUGNK1 Brasil version and I decided to root it using CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300 .
After root the phone was perfectly working, but I uninstalled some pre-installed games which come with that Brasil version from sammobile and after I woke up after several hours I've noticed that there is no signal. In settings > phone info it says BASEBAND VERSION : unknown and IMEI : null.
I tried to flash again, I've flashed different version, nothing can help. The phone is fully functional WIFI works, only no signal, null imei and unknown baseband version. What the heck I can do before smashing it with a hammer?
And I'm talking about home fixes, as I don't have jig & other professional tools
There is no home fix for imei problems, unless you have an efs backup to restore. Take it to a repair centre and pay them to recode it for you, make sure it works on 4.3 before you accept it back.

As long as the phone is not bricked there should be a home fix... Hopefully
Nobody??
Managed to make it working using an efs backup from a different phone. Now I have to figure out how to put my correct imei instead of that one
Imei now shows 0049

Stop whining, you got the right answer the same day you asked.
Cloning your phone by using the efs backup from another phone is illegal and won't fix the problem anyway.

I didn't wanted to clone another phone and hijack it, please let's remain serious. I just wanted to fix ny efs and that's why I used a backup made from a phone which was broken and was sold by parts.
Now everything was fixed at service
Just a question about k-tool backup
After doing a backup with it I have 2 files
efs.img - 20mb and
efs.tar.gz which has 0 bytes and appear to be damaged as I cannot open it.
Is that efs.img enough in case I lose my imei again after a flash or what?
Hello guys, I had this same problem 2 days ago after flashing the GlamourS4 ROM onto my friend's S3. The flashing failed as it was flashing the modem with an "Assert failed" error, however it still reported that the flashing was successful. On booting the phone it had a null/null IMEI and the baseband was also unknown. I even posted about it on xda.. Yesterday, I found a way to fix both the nul/null IMEI and the unknown baseband. I figured that if I flashed modems onto the phone that the baseband "unknown" message would be fixed, and in the process also fix the IMEI. I therefore searched for patched kernels and modems for it. I came across this page that had patched modems and kernels for the S3 running Android 4.3. I flashed the modems and kernels found on the page with CWM 6.0.4.7 one by one. I went through 6 zipped files before the seventh one fixed my IMEI null/null and baseband "unknown" errors. The one that fixed it was "Patched_XXEMC2_Modem.zip". The six I tried at first changed the IMEI from null to 0049XXXXXXXXXXXXX/XX. The seventh one fixed both problems well. IMEI is well now and the baseband is too. Try flashing the kernels and your phone shall be OK like mine.
Null or 0044....... imei, only repair on service with box and tools... In Serbia, cost 10 euro. Good luck

[Q] Baseband Version Unknown - tried everything!

Hi!
A day ago I had the 5.0.2 Ressurection remix 5.3.8stable installed on my i9100 and for a hour or so I had no service whatsoever. Tried reboot without SIM, then with SIM but it didn't work. Note that I have a PIN for my SIM and since the reboot it didn't asked me to type the pin. Very strange!
Since then I tried going back to CM11 4.4.4, then even to my stock DBT firmware (XXLS8 modem) and now even to the XWLP7 firmware (4.0 android), but no succes either! It still says No service, null IMEI, no bluetooth etc.
Also, tried flashing separate modems for my S2, via Odin / CWM.
Also, tried taking my phone apart, piece by piece and remounting everything, hoping that something went loose but again, no luck.
Please keep in mind that the SIM works perfectly on any other phone, so it's the phone...
I tried pretty much everything I can find on the internet at this moment, except the z3x/asansam dongles... Please help!
I now have like a freaking iPad instead of a phone ...
Wondering if you made a backup before you flashed? 1st thing you should always do for just such a problem. You could have reinstalled your backup and been up and running. Install a stock rom, re-root and install your custom rom.

It may be your sim pin screwing everything up. Did you wipe the phone completely before trying to install stock rom.

Me and other people are having the same problem, i.e. establishing the network connection with customs ROMs based on other bases than stock samsung ones. What works for me is flashing a stock based ROM. I see you already have tried that so maybe you have messed up the efs folder.. I am not an expert but I think that might be the issue. Have you had a backup of your efs? If so you can flash that backup and hope you regain your connection.
You can follow this thread for any development in this issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/mobile-network-available-flashing-to-t3012387
PS: I also made a thread long time ago but its dead now where I mentioned all the things I tried on customs ROMs to regain service but none of it worked. For me, stock based ROM is the solution.
Unfortunately, I haven't backedup the EFS, but a friend of mine gave me his efs backup from his S2, tried mounting it but no success.

[Q] searching for network error

Decided to update my GT-i9300 today.
These are the steps I took before I flashed new rom.
Format and factory reset
Wipe cache
Davlik cleaned
Flash new rom
Reboot
I have tried Lollipop 5.0, 5.1 and KitKat all with the same results. Phone keeps losing network connection (Three), I have tried suggestions like airplane mode, delete and reinsert APN detail, remove sim card, switch off phone. I have also reflashed all 3 ROMs twice and still exactly the same error.
Install my backup (Original) Rom and all works fine.
I have the latest CWM too.
Can any help and advise please?
No one willing to help?
I have googled and searched this forum and that is where I found the suggestions that I have tried.
Is your imei and your phone's serial number original?
You can find it in Settings-about device-status
It seems correct to me.
I purchased phone in used condition with broken screen from a work colleague two years ago (no longer works here). I repaired screen but replacement did not have sticker under battery, I stupidly did not remove original sticker or keep a record (stupid I know). Well about two weeks ago I tried to flash a new rom but bricked phone, would not turn on whatsoever. Sent phone off to get repaired (Ebay) but because there was no IMEI number and I did not have box or the original sticker the guy would not repair (which I understand), I located my IMEI number from Google Dashboard and then got a Checkmend Certificate to prove that the phone was legit.
Since it's return I have had this problem. He has flashed an image on which seems to work but no other image that I try will work.
IMEI number is correct as far as I am aware but I am not sure how to confirm the Serial number is correct, any advice?
Just been to an IMEI checking website, inserted my IMEI number and listed serial number on phone and all details came back correct.
Your efs is corrupted and will no longer work with firmware that requires v2 efs.
Only solution, which is what your repair guy did, is to flash the patched modem and kernel -which enables the efs to be read again.
Each time you flash a firmware you will need to then flash patched modem and kernel before you can get connection.

Thanks for your reply. Decided to try one last time. Flashed CM 12.1 and it seems to have worked except for one thing, my serial number is not the same as before. IMEI is fine.
