Welcome to SentinelROM for Samsung Galaxy SII (International Version -i9100 ONLY). Compiled from modded CM10.2 source using the Linaro toolchain for extreme performance. Android 4.3
This is one of the most popular ROMs for Nexus 10, Nexus 7, Nexus 4 and HTC One X, SGS3, SGNII and today I'm happy to release it for the SGSII community.
Read what people have to say about SentinelROM.
This ROM is compiled from CyanogenMod 10.2 with all the features you get in a CM10.2 ROM, plus the following features.
Compiled with Linaro 4.8 toolchain for extreme performance
Increased volume (not quiet like most CM based ROMs)
Zip Aligned
Compiled from latest CyanogenMod 10.2 source by me, not a 'cooked ROM'.
LMT Pie Controls
OTA Updates supported
Improved Web Browsing performance
Improved 3D gaming performance
Amazing battery life
Additional theming and UI customisation
FAST support via this page and our Facebook Page
A free copy of my music player app
________________________
This ROM has been built to enhance the CyanogenMod 10.2 experience, with faster gaming and web browsing performance (no choppyness in Chrome too!) and best of all, extreme battery life.
It's designed to be an excellent starting place for people who want to add their own MODs and tweaks, rather than forcing people to use the included ones. Think of it like buying a quality new car, optimized to do everything it does well, and giving you the freedom to modify the hell out of it if you want to.
Countless hours have been spent making tweaks to settings to squeeze the most performance I can find out of this ROM while still providing excellent battery life and without the dangers of overclocking and kernel level tweaking.
I compile this ROM and Kernel from the latest CyanogenMod source code, add my various tweaks and adjustments, then test for stability, so you get all the benefits of CyanogenMod 10.2, plus my tweaks and extras, all without the instability and inconvenience of flashing CyanogenMod nightlies (which are not designed specifically for the SGS2 like my ROM is).
The kernel source is available from the CyanogenMod's GitHub.

None that I am aware of. please report any bugs ASAP.
________________________
If installing for the first time:
To install this ROM you will need to have an unlocked bootloader and a custom Recovery such as TWRP or ClockWorkMod installed (personally I recommend TWRP, I have had issues with restoring backups using CWM).
Copy the downloaded SentinelROM zip to your Internal Storage.
Boot into your custom recovery
Back up your stock ROM
Enter custom recovery
Factory Reset and wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Wipe your system partition
It's preferable to wipe your data partition if coming from a non CM10.1 based ROM
Install the ROM
Install GAPPS
Reboot, the first boot can take up to 5 minutes.
Important: After installation you will be asked if you want to turn on CyanogenMod Statistics, please leave it off as this is an unofficial/modified build.
Note: Use of titanium backup to restore apps and data from another ROM is not recommended, and is the source of 90% of user issues, especially when it comes to battery life. Do so at your own risk.
You may flash other kernels as you wish via recovery. Remember to also flash the correct libraries for any 3rd party kernels. Instructions will be given by the Kernel author. NOTE: Updating the ROM via OTA will also overwrite any custom Kernels you have installed.

The following mods are developed by 3rd parties and have been tested by SentinelROM Users.
I can not offer support for these mods, or comment on their affect on performance or battery life. Use at your own risk.

MegaBassBeats! - by DeHuMaNiZeD
exFAT SD Card support - by HMkX2

It certainly does. Most common languages are supported.
be sure to check out the FAQ if you have any uncertainties before flashing. Most common questions are answered there

How did you achieve extreme battery??? I'm curious.

Thank you

It's a combination of many things.
*All the applications are optimized and tested. I don't include anything that causes wakelocks.
*Carefully selected tweaks and mods.
*Theres a few tweaks to Wi-Fi settings, etc to minimise battery usage.
*Optimised kernel.
*Compiled from source rather than cooked, so all the code is pure.
I'm looking forward to some feedback. HTC One X users are getting up to 4 days battery life with it, and similar on SGS3.

Do you mean "source" ROM?
There isn't one. This ROM is compiled from my own modified CM10.1 code.

Hey mate! I'm glad new devs are working for our "old" device! Welcome in SgsII world!
I'm downloading the rom right now. Give me a couple of ours and I'll give you my first impressions!

Yes mate, don't worry: I don't like dirty flashes. The full wipe is my way!
PS. At the moment I'm on latest cm10.1 nightly(stock kernel). I think I'll write 2-3 lines about differences if helps

Sounds good mate! For the most part, the available settings and options are the same as CM10.1 nightlies, with the exception of a few things like enhanced pie controls. The main difference is the performance, stability and battery life.

I'd love to stick around and see some feedback, but its midnight and I have massive day at work tomorrow, so I'll check in in the morning and see how it's all going.
Have fun guys!

WOW!
I've just flash this rom now and seems to be greatfull! Very smooth and zero bug for now .

Last post before you sleep!
The rom is good, fast, and has no problems(at least for my usage). It's very similar to cm10.1 in speed and visuals.
Nothing to blame, it's stable and i'm ready to try it for a couple of days!
I set the cpu like this: Ondemand - Noop. 200-1200mhz. Screen off profile with 200-500mhz. Tomorrow's evening we'll talk about battery life
Good night!

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz*LIKE*zzzzzzzzzzzz
BTW: I'm very keen for your feedback on LCD density. I left it at stock CM10.1 which is 240DPI for the initial release, but I'm open to suggestions! Once we have some more SGSII fans on Facebook I'll put up a poll so I don't pollute this thread

What is OneDroid:
OneDroid is a custom ROM for Nexus 5, based on CyanogenMod. It's always up to date with latest commits directly from CM repos, optimized for best battery life and performance and offers a lot more, like pre-installed Google apps, screen recording, lots of tweaks, etc.
What is the aim of this ROM:
I made this ROM for the following reasons:
1. To provide updates as soon as code gets committed, so that you're always up to date
2. Remove features which aren't necessary, so that you get a ROM which doesn't have a lot of crap in it
3. Fix bugs and optimize the code, so that you get the most stable ROM
4. Add my own features, like custom tweaks, OTA updates and more, so that you get the best experience
Small favor:
Please don't ask for ETAs. I am studying in school (final year, ending in March) so I really can't provide exact release date for a particular build every time, at least not before March. I'll be trying my best to push out stuff as fast as I possibly could, however. I hope you guys enjoy using my ROM!

FAQ:
Q. The ROM has two dialer apps, is it a bug or an error?
A. No. The ROM comes with two dialer apps: One is the stock, AOSP dialer app and one is the Google dialer app. The stock dialer app comes without Google's new Caller ID feature so I have supplied Google dialer along with the stock AOSP dialer app, just in case someone wants to use that feature. There is no way to have that feature in stock dialer app since the code for that feature isn't open source.
Q. The video recorded by screen recorder doesn't play at times, what's wrong?
A. Its BETA.
Q. Whenever I am using 4G/LTE, the signal bars don't show any activity, does that mean LTE/4G doesn't work?
A. No, it's a glitch/bug in CM code. When you have turned on LTE/4G and don't see any network indicators, it does not mean 4G/LTE isn't working.
Q. Can I install a particular build on top of another (like, flash BETA 13 over 12) without wiping anything (dirty flash)?
A. Yes
Q. What is the name of the iconpack used in the picture at the top? Also, the wallpaper link please?
A. The iconpack is called ClickUI. Wallpaper here

There's no clear answer: Some say it's perfectly fine since the ROM is for a certified device, some say it's against Google policies. If Google tells me to remove it, I'll do. Until then, Google Apps will come pre-loaded.

It comes from my hobby to building rom that is actually for private use and then some users found it on my goo.im. Due to some suggestions from them (rkoby13 is one of them ), I decided to create this thread to share my builds with you.
This build is compiled using SaberMod toolchain and like the official one, it is built from the same source: Slimroms github.
I could cherry-pick some commits ahead from Slimbean team or patches from other repositories that I find useful.
The ROM and the kernel are tested by me first before I make it available online. I could have overseen something during testing, please be understand.
In summary, it is still Slimbean that is compiled with SaberMod toolchain. [...]

Installation instructions
Coming from 4.1.x or 4.2.x or 4.3.x or another ROM to 4.4.x:
Flash a kitkat compatible CWM from here.
Reboot to recovery. Not to the system!

Mount system and format system partition manually.
Flash the unofficial build.
Flash gapps from here.
**slim_mini only; add other desired google apps from the playstore.
Coming from previous unofficial build:
Wipe cache and dalvik cache.

Apps that are moved to sdcard won't appear on reboot.
Swapping internal and external sdcard is not working.
USB mass storage is not working.
Music player stops playing music from sdcard after some time. See here.

Follow this steps to get rid of the stuck and to have back your valuable data:
Go to recovery and make a twrp/cwm backup.
Do a full wipe + mount system + format system.
Flash the rom + gapps.
Reboot to rom and skip the setup wizard.
Go to recovery again and advance restore your data only.
Reboot.

========================================
I, Cyril, am not a developer or maintainer of any sort
These are UNOFFICIAL builds, this device is no longer supported by the Slim-team.
The goal is to provide yet another Android 4.4 option for the SGH-i777.
I plan to build as time permits; no sooner than weeklies, and I'll be sure to capture stable releases.
Massive thanks to the @SteveMurphy, @razen_kain, @RenderBroken, @creepyncrawly, @4-2ndtwin, @nimper (and all of the i777 community) for the continued encouragement and support.
Speaking of community support, if the builds develop issues I will need your help finding and ironing out solutions. The biggest tip will be to see whether it's affecting the i9100 or n7000, and what they're doing about it.
If the builds start crashing, well that may be the end of SlimKat on the i777.
Please stop by the i9100 SlimSaber thread and show @fusionjack some thanks.
Happy Flashing
-Cyril
It's a beautiful thing having people who can bring these roms to an old device, many many thanks, sir!
I must say, I am proud of these recent achievements, and I'm very glad to be able to give BACK to the community that brought me along.
I'm just clearing a year here on xda, and as a first-time smart-phone owner, I never thought that I'd be this involved. I just wanted to get rid of the AT&T bloat, and joined because I had a few questions. Now I've got a github account, and am pushing commits, and forking projects!
I won't get too far ahead of myself, I'm still no dev, I don't know the language, and I really don't plan to go that far (although I said that once before). I owe a lot to the fact that the i9100 is SO similar.

good job cyril...:good:
btw, i think you need to maintain the slimcenter ota by yourself since i don't have influence of your update frequency.
basically, you need to change:
the download url of changelog: https://github.com/SlimSaber/packages_apps_SlimCenter/blob/kk4.4/res/values/strings.xml#L74
the ota file: https://github.com/SlimSaber/packages_apps_SlimCenter/blob/kk4.4/res/values/strings.xml#L82
use the ota xml file from the url mentioned above as a template and you need to host this file to your hosting choice which support direct/hot linking. i use wuala file hosting for now...
in this file, you can supply the download folder of the rom.
every time you release a new build, you need to adjust the rom file name (the date part) so that all users get notification if there is a new update.
concerning moving apps: there is a new feature that enables moving apps to external volume. this feature is still disabled for our device. as result, moving app is impossible for now. i'll try to enable it tonight...:fingers-crossed:
concerning scripts: in case you didn't know yet, i have some scripts that you can use to build a rom, generate changelog and send a rom to your device. see here: https://github.com/SlimSaber/scripts
I would echo Cyril's comments... I have an S2, and couldn't stand the AT&T version of JB. Too much crap in there...and having had a gTab before and being well-versed in getting it rooted and custom ROM's on it, I just thought it was natural to come find "this" community. Now, I have a 3-4 year old phone that runs like a champ on the cutting-edge Android...what's not to like about that?
Cyril, I've been fascinated to watch/read your journey through this, and appreciate your tenacity.
And since I'm thanking folks, thanks to SteveMurphy and razen_kain, the former for timely updates to the Res, and the latter for just answering lots of stupid questions patiently.
Excellent work with this rom, everything running great so far keep up with the great work!

Is it possible to flash Renders CWM kernel on this rom? I'm trying it out now but my backups are in CWM, not TWRP. Also I don't think GPS is working on this rom. I tried using Waze and it keeps telling me NO GPS available.
I haven't tried Renders' CWM with this firmware, but I expect that it should work just fine.
If the concern is accessing your CWM backups, nandroid manager is also an option. It can see everything inside CWM or TWRP backups, no matter which is currently installed.

Thanks for pointing me to that app. I'm assuming can you restore an entire nandroid backup from that app no matter what recovery is installed. I don't really care about extracting apps from the backups. I want to do a complete nandoid recovery.

If you're only looking to restore a complete nandroid, I would suggest something more like your original plan:
reboot to recovery > install RB_cwm_kernel > reboot to recovery > restore cwm backup.
I'm not a fan of relying on apps and their scripts to restore complete nandroids.
It's a great app for managing nandroids, thanks to @razen_kain for pointing it out to me.
-Cyril
That is exactly what I wound up doing.

@cyril279 does this mean that your development/maintenance of SlimKat weeklies is on pause or has ended? Just want to know if we should switch over to SlimSaber instead of waiting on further development of the SlimKat.
Btw... Tried SlimSaber pretty nifty  but some features I prefer from SlimKat so I'm back to SlimKat for now...
Keep up the good work though :good:
I've been getting some really great battery life AND performance on this ROM for a couple days. Battery keeps getting better and there has not been one single hiccup since the first boot. Running stock kernel BTW. Thanks for this Cyril! I can really tell a difference with the saber mod tool chain. Probably going to dd this one for a while. Tried to talk the wife into it but she's a resurrection remix girl now
I will definitely continue building SlimKat weekly.
Just not this next week. Not for either firmware.
I would like to know, more specifically, what you prefer about slimkat.

Thinking about it now it's only 2 things i can remember that sent me back to SlimKat for now.
1. I didn't find the option for me to select which home option I'd like to choose (Simple issue yes I know)
2. I wasn't getting any other account to sync after google accounts were added.
I think there might have been something else, but I'd have to flash again to see what it was.

"home option"?
I'm not clear on what home options you're looking for.
I'm not aware of any functional difference in-between the two firmwares, only SMDK4210 specific optimizations, but I could be wrong.
settings > device [Home] > {choose launcher}?
-or maybe -
settings > advanced settings [Navigation} > Hardware Buttons > Home Key {options}?
Regarding account sync issues, the only time I had problems was the result of dirty-flashing.
Either way, whether OG Slim, or Super-charged Slim, you can't go wrong!

My builds are set up to build 11 devices every day with the latest Vanir Sources. Now I can't promise every nightly will work but most of the *SHOULD*. I have tested the builds that my scripts have spat out before and they all work just as well as if I did it by hand. This just saves me time and effort. I am also looking for a easy way to mirror. Google Drive is just super easy to upload to with my scripts but I would love to have a mirror that updates automatically too. Let me know if you have ideas.

They have the exact same base just with new stuff added on top for my builds so it *SHOULD* be fine, but I make no promises. When dirty flashing there is ALWAYS a risk to be had. I dont see any reason why it wouldn't work. Just be prepared to wipe if you flash and run into weird errors.
To be careful I would:
Wipe (/system, /cashe, /davlik)
Flash Rom and Gapps of your choice
Flash Kernel or Fixes you want (Many kernels dont work properly with vanir but I know uber does with the fixes I have made for it.
Reboot to system.

AOSP Kernels need to edit the Ramdisk in order to be used with vanir because it is a CAF-Hybrid. Uber has scripts that it runs when it is installed to make these edits, but MANY kernels do not. I find it doubtful that franco would. The main changes that need to be changed are the PM Drivers because the Vanir Kernel uses CAF one and AOSP use AOSP ones so you need to change where it searches for the PM drivers in the ramdisk.
If you run an incombaitble kernel your battery will drain to no end. if you look in the battery status it will say that the android system is draining all the battery by keeping the device awake. (Basicly the PM drivers arent running) The way to fix this is to edit the ramdisk. There are like 20 lines or so you need to edit. It can be done manually but you cant mess it up or you might get a bricked phone.
The uber fix I have listed fixes some audio bugs that uber and other AOSP kernels have with vanir. In short it is do-able to make franco combatible with Vanir, but the scripts aren't in place and franco would need to do or someone who wants to kang his work.

For AT&T I use LTE & 3G , when screen is locked battery savings is activated from 12 to 12 .
Just move the white button down one like @Williamsss said

Important Info
Fusionjack is the developer of this ROM and kernel. I only build to support the hammerhead. Please take the time to thank his thread here.
Disclaimer
I'm not responsible for any damages on your device.
The rom and the kernel are tested by me first before I make it available online. I could have overseen something during testing, please understand. In summary, the ROM is still SlimKat, with some additional features (see below), but is also compiled with SaberMod toolchain. You can consider this build as a "nightly" and the build from the official thread is stable and weekly.
!!! Please don't discuss these unofficial builds in the official thread. Users can get confused easily!!!
What makes it different from the official SlimKat?
Compiled with a custom toolchain Sabermod for more performance and better battery life
Compiled with the GCC optimization level -O3
Compiled with strict-aliasing compiler optimization
Added patches to fix GCC strict-aliasing violation rules
Added ARMv7 optimized string handling routines for more smoothness and better memory optimization
Disabled SQLite fsync to increase I/O performance
Cherry-picked some AOSP bug and memory leak fixes
Cherry-picked some KitKat bug-fixes and memory leak fixes
Powered by SuperSU
Extra features not included in official builds. Please see the second post for a list of these.
Official Slim Features
These features listed above are in addition to the official Slim features. Please see the awesome new feature browser, and the official Slim Manual for a detailed description of the official Slim features!
Installation instructions
Coming from stock or another ROM:
Follow the guide how to unlock bootloader and install custom recovery from here.
Full wipe: system, data, cache, dalvik cache.
Flash the SlimSaber build.
Flash gapps from here, or dankoman's Slim gapps thread. See this post before flashing newest beta gapps.
Coming from previous SlimSaber build:
Wipe cache and dalvik cache.
Flash the SlimSaber build.
No need to re-flash gapps. Gapps will be restored back automatically by backup tool during flashing.
Known Issues
Lens blur photos will crash while processing. This is caused by using a toolchain version number greater than 4.7.
Must use animation scale at least 0.25x or the dial pad will not show when opening the phone app.

Additional features included!
The main features are the compilation of the ROM with -03 flags, strict aliasing and Sabermod, along with the rest of the optimisations listed in the OP. These are all to increase performance and battery life. But of course, there are some additional features included:
Gesture unlock for lockscreen
Network speeds in status bar
Configure double tap status bar to sleep
Custom system animations
Integrated performance options in ROM
Soft reboot option
Mobile data disabled by default. This is to avoid extra carrier charges during ROM setup
SuperSU root management
Lockscreen Notifications
Advanced calculator with floating mode
Battery saving network mode: Automatic switch to 2G when screen is off.
Smooth scrolling (disable scrolling cache)
Confirm to reboot to bootloader/recovery
For a more comprehensive list, please see this post by Harsha Raj in the i9100 thread.
Mobile data isn't working!!
Once the ROM is booted, go to Settings -> Toggle 'Mobile networks' for data to be enabled.
It's disabled on purpose, by default. This is so when you first flash the ROM, no data is used, as some carriers charge heavily for even small data transfers.
What about theme chooser?
Next post down, look in the "Goodies" post to find flashable themes
Root doesn't work!
Enable 'Developer options'
Go to Settings -> About Phone
Tap on the Build Number 7 times
Go to Settings -> Developer options -> Root access
Choose 'Apps' or 'Apps and ADB'
How to change DPI?
Currently, this feature hasn't been ported... so you'll need to install Texdroider DPI from the playstore... or edit /system/build.prop and change ro.sf.lcd_density to the desired value

Flashable themes
Please thank @vampsoft for his hard work in bringing colour to Slim without Xposed and theme chooser! He's made a heap of flashable vrthemes, some of which also include fancy transition animations. Extra volume steps
To add extra volume steps into the ROM, we can edit build.prop. I use ES file explorer with root permissions granted. Navigate to /system/build.prop, and add these two lines, but change the number to what you desire. Stock is 15. After adding the lines, make sure to reboot. Done! Thanks fusionjack for the tip

Great to see SlimSaber here, @Hopper8. Always loved @fusionjack's work on the i9100/i777 (the latter by way of @cyril279), so a big thank you for building this for us.

Questions and answers (will be updated if needed):
Q: Where are the screenshots?
A: Look in the screenshot section of the DevDB Project.
Q: Should i take the CAF version or the normal version?
A: This depends, if you're planning to use ProjectX stock, it's recommended to use the CAF version since it's smoother and it possibly (look at Q2) has better battery life. On the other hand, if you're planning to flash other kernels on this ROM (for example AK) , you should use the normal version.
Q: Should i use the provided zip to underclock the CAF kernel?
A: If you want a little better performance, you should flash it since the CAF stock speed is underclocked to 2GHz and this zip disables is so that your speed can go up to 2.5GHz. But if you'd rather have a little better battery life, you shouldn't flash the zip.
Reserved for future use

This is one of the fastest ROMS I've used in quite some time... I normally set my transition animations to .5 speed and I've noticed that some ROM aren't smooth with the speed that fast and pages don't load as quickly as the transition moves but this ROM flies.... My battery life isn't that great though, the break is me reflashing... I'm using tk gapps I'm going to clean reflash and use Slim Gapps.

I change all of my animations to .25x.
You REALLY notice a difference with it. Does this ROM support that animation speed?

Doesn't support .25 but it loads pages really fast, I hate when I speed up the transition and the page isn't already loaded. Also I noticed that when I scroll on apps like Google Photos all the pictures instantly load... No wait time. If I could mix the speed of this ROM with the battery savings of Sultan's ROM.... And the features of Exodus... Perfection.

OT:
Well then i would believe you should take Exodus ROM as the base, use CAF kernel with it from Sultan's sources(not sure how difficult that is) and use the toolchain Sabermod with optimization from this rom and TADA! you have your perfect idea. But the prerequisites here would be a fast internet connection, a fast PC(slower will work as well) and knowledge of how to build a rom from source. If you made such rom bro, please send me a link via PM as i have 0 knowledge of bilding roms from sources.

If I speak the truth I think CAF kernel may be added in the future xD Don't take my word on that tho.

Yes, i'm working on it, but it seems SystemUI keeps crashing...
The next build should have that fixed.
Does this rom have build in Root? or do we have to flash it?
