Used DNA, no 4g!! - HTC Droid DNA

I bought a DNA used off eBay. It came to me with the bootloader unlocked and s off. I toss my SIM card in and it connects to 3g fine, but 4g refuses to even try and come up. Troubleshooting steps taken below:
1. Switched from the sense 5 Rom that was installed to viper, no go
2. Flash the newest radio, no go
3. Try global mode, cdma/LTE mode, LTE only mode, no go
4. Flash a stock rooted Rom, no go
5. New SIM from Verizon store, no go
6. Swap Sims with a co workers DNA (which has 4g), his DNA gets 4g with my SIM but I don't get 4g with his.
7. Try to RUU, it keeps telling me installed software is 2.06, errors out with error 158, no go.
Any other ideas? I might just return it to the eBay seller.

Is there a limitation to using the RUU? Do you have to be on 1.15 everything to use it?

Not sure what that means. I'm coming from a droid 4 which was limited to pretty much just flashing roms, so this is my 1st real experience with flashing radios/kernels/hboots etc. He was previously using it on T-Mobile, but I don't see how that would effect anything. The seller agreed to take it back for a full refund, but I'm willing to try a few more things before I ship it back (unless it risks bricking)
EDIT: I'm retarded. You mean flash the boot image separately? Yeah I tried that with the DNA toolkit as well as manually. Fastboot crashes with the toolkit, and doing it manually with fastboot gives me errors. I think there is just something wrong with the phone. I've tinkered with a GNex before with fastboot and had no issues flashing anything.

Try an app from the playstore that turns off an on different parts of the radio. You can specifically choose just LTE. If it turn on its the software, if not, (obviously) it's the hardware

I had tried from the phone settings menu, whatever one the LTE On/Off app brings you to and no dice. It just sits at disconnected.

The settings are very limited. I had a similar problem, and I downloaded the lte on/off app by "tapbase" and I was able to discover that my lte radio works afterall. Try it, its free.

I'm having the exact same problem with an Ebay phone! I've tried a new SIM, a few ROMs, and upgraded the radio.

Hope I'm not off topic or breaking any rules so in the event I might please pm me op. I might have a different suggestion all together.

You need to use a brand new sim from a vzw store. Take it up to the store and you will be good. Fixed my friends at least. He tried my working SIM to and he only had 3g

I was having the same problem as the OP. I tried a new SIM too. I ended up having to lock the bootloader, return the phone completely to stock, and then accept the latest OTA update. After that, I was able to get 4G. Then I unlocked the phone again, put a TWRP recovery on, and then I flashed a Sense 5 M7 ROM. It kept 4G! This has been a real pain-in-the-butt process, but it worked.

Help fix 4G :(

Im going to explain this problem in a depth as i can.
I am s-off'd via jtagged, rooted and have twp recovery. I am on newest radio running NOS M7 v2.0.3
I can only connect to 3G for some reason with it reading eHRPD.
i do not know if it was reading this before i started the process of rooting since i never turn the phone completely on once i got it back.
So after some reading and advice i downloaded LTE on off to force 4G
It worked but at the cost of losing my mobile network causing me to not be able to make calls or send out text but i have 4G i can get on the internet.
Atm i am plagued with having 3G and service or using 4G w/o service... and this is a problem.
Also while on 4G it reads RSRP if that helps.
Idk if this is a hardware problem from me getting my device jtagged (which would suck since that means im stuck with it) or if it can be fixed.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated since im getting annoyed

In any case, I would RUU back to stock, including kernel, and see if I get 4G. Make sure 4G is available in your area....?

I had the same problem when I got my phone back. Took it back to Verizon and got a new phone. I tried everything and nothing worked. It is like something happened to the radio. Tried to flash a new one nothing. Still haven't heard back from mtv on trying to get a refund.

Sigh thats something i wanna avoid so Ill just have to stay stuck until moonshine comes out. I really like sense 5 and I don't wanna go back to 4+... Then I'll get a replacement I guess.
As far as RUU to stock and seeing if I was on LTE I already did all that. I was almost looking into build.props but I assumed that wouldnt work either. So guess I'm just stuck on 3G unless it randomly wanna come back which I doubt unless somebody comes up with a solution besides just getting a replacement.

Correct they are free, but the guy I tend to see at the Verizon store always seems to launch that hboot screen everytime I go in there. He did when I had the SIM card swapped earlier in the year as it would disconnect from my network several times a day. So I just want to be on the safe side.
I had my SIM card replaced twice on my resound and both times went to the store without relocking the bootloader or anything. Didn't have any issues. They programmed the new card and I was on my merry way. Maybe call em first and without giving any of ur account information ask if u can get a new SIM card if uv rooted ur phone. It would suck to go thru that process if it's not necessary but I can certainly understand the better safe than sorry approach. The phone call would definitely be worth the time though imo.

So I got the issue resolved without a new SIM card. So here is a combo of things I did to resolved the issue. I have everything in the link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338810
I think it was resolved after I flashed my radio and then I went back to stock just in case I have any more issues in the next week. As if I do I will go back to the Verizon store and swap out my phone. But I'd rather be S-ON in case that happens and be that way for a bit. Plus I wanted to test the S-ON for future purposes of in case I needed to get back there I knew how to.

[Q] No 4G LTE after flashing Cyanogenmod 10.1

After flashing Cyanogenmod 10.1 I have only been able to connect to 3G and cannot connect to 4G LTE. Does anyone know how to get LTE to work on Cm10.1?
Try doing a full wipe. Data/cache/dalvik, reflash CM.

Also be sure you have LTE enabled in your network settings.
Were you ever able to regain LTE? This has happened to me as well. I've tried flashing back to stock, changing settings using *#*#4636#*#*, and a couple of others. Still nothing. Hate the idea of relying on 3G.

Try putting your Sim card in someone else's phone that has LTE. If they only get 3G, it's your card. Of they still get 4G, it's something else with your phone causing the problem.

Something similar is happening to me. I'm on Carbonrom 1.8. 4g just stopped working. Have been reading around trying to get fixes. Got a new SIM card from Verizon and it still didn't fix it.
In my phone status it says I'm on CDMA - eHRPD:14, I believe this indicates I truly am on 3g. If it were 13 it'd be 4g. I think I have that right. I haven't come across much that's helpful although it seems this isn't that rare of an issue. Trying to fix as much of it as I can on my own. I've yet to revert back to stock. Have tried going to Beanstown, that did more harm than good (broke sms and didn't go to 4g).

Beans ROM is basically stock if you went to that and still didn't have 4G then there is something wrong with your phone. Try the dialer fix (Dialing the number posted above) and if that doesn't work I would start thinking about a warranty replacement.

[Q] Weird problem

Okay guys I have this problem with my Atrix 4G. It's usually on NottachTrix 2.0.0 or 1.9.0 since 2.3.0 was giving me weird errors. The problems I am having are that I have a strong signal of 4-5 bars and then either after an idle or just by watching it sometimes the signal degrades and eventually it's greyed out with a little x over it and it stays like that indefinitely. I've tried turning the wifi on and off, the GPS on and off, I've done a factory reset. I've repeatedly flashed the radios. 30, 36, 37, and the sbf of OLY_ATT_01.97.00R. I've done it with the sim in and out, with the sd in and out fixed permissions. " And I still have the issue of the signal either being completely off, or just degrading. I'm using this on T-Mobile but when I search for providers all it shows is AT&T and when I go to About Phone -> Status I consistently have between 90-120dBm under signal. What am I doing/not doing right?

i'm not knowledgeable about this issue, but based off of what you said, you're using ATT radios on a T Mobile network. perhaps a T Mobile radio would work? if i'm wrong with this statement, then i am and i'll admit it, but thats what i would try.

ok its hardware issue. below is a paragraph about a different device that might point you in the right direction
"Did u follow the guide on XDA forums? They have the original guide for unlocking AWS bandwidth for ATT note 2 so that it could work on T-Mobile 4G.
If you flashed it correctly your phone should virtually pick up tmobile 4g any where you go.
Unless you live in a rural area that is."
it would be a hardware issue that should be able to be fixed using whatever was used in the case above. it may be about the note 2, but they did ask about other devices, so i would think it might work

From What I was reading, that method was for phones that have T-Mobile Variants that just have the 1700 Band blocked. Tmobile reps say it's probably a SIM issue which I'm hoping it is so I don't find out I have to buy a new atrix. But if its Software I'd love to be able to fix it now and get it over with.

I recall with some Sprint WiMax devices, one could lose WiMax Keys after improper flashes, thus rendering 4G inoperable.
Is this also the case with Verizon's LTE? I seem to have lost all LTE connectivity after flashing CM11 a while back, and after flashing back to a Sense-based ROM, it still only shows 3G. I haven't been messing with it for a long time but I will be loaning the DNA to a friend soon so I would like to attempt a fix.
Am I correct to assume that I will need to re-lockup the device and RUU back to stock to see if the phone will re-gain LTE connectivity?
Just flash a radio and hboot. Sometimes those partitions get wonky after flashing so many ROMs. I have read somewhere reflashing those two have fixed 4G issues.

Hm, I shall give it a try and see...
It's been a while, but I did manage to relock and flashed the first RUU and updated up to the most recent OTA, but my LTE is still screwed up. My friend says it still is stuck on 3G, but I am kind of out of ideas after restoring everything and whatnot... =\
Have you tried calling Verizon or your service provider to reset the network. On my old phone after flashing a leak I had to do that in order to get data back.

Try a factory reset, might take one or two attempts

No Baseband/Radio after RUU

Trying to get my Evo LTE up and running but even after RUU I have no baseband, radios, service. I'm S-On...trying to work that out now. Why even after RUU would I still have no service?

Try that. If it doesn't work try ##3282# and select reset from the menu. You'll need your MSL, which you can get using MSL Reader from the Play store. The app is free.

Seems I'm stuck in a bootloop...the phone will boot up but the screen is black except for status bar. I can't get to the dialer, only settings once in a great while before it reboots itself. HTC...oh, bother...
Which RUU did you use?

3.17 from HTC http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-evo-4g-lte-sprint/news/
I'm running it one more time as admin, w/ Norton-off, from Fastboot. If it doesn't work I'll be looking for a different RUU to download at 60kbs lol
D/Ling the Sense 5 Jelly Bean RUU...at 16kbs. ZZzz lol Thanks for your help
Update: I was able to update to 4.3, my baseband is there, the ROM in general seems to be just fine....but still no service. Called Sprint and they had me do everything you guys already told me to do with no avail. My network settings is completely blank and my replacing m7 will not be in until Thursday. I remember the days walking into Sprint store with broken phone and walking out with a brand new one. Now you have to wait 4-5 days for a refurbished phone.

If you could obtain S-off, you could manually flash a radio and see if that helps.

It's been a while for me too but I think all you need is a functioning ROM.
