I've noticed much slower data since taking the 4.1.2 ota. My phone is completely stock. Is anyone else seeing this? I've been perfectly happy with stock until now, but Verizon has crossed the line With this one.

Yes, I've noticed that too. So I tried different custom roms but no difference.
If i had to guess the ota had nothing to do with it, rather than vzw rolling out a bunch of updates at the same time thus congesting the network. My speeds and signal are drastically improved.

Your data speeds are primarily affected by the baseband that you are running. I'd visit the Android Development section of the Galaxy Note 2 and locate the Galaxy Note 2 modems thread.
I was getting slower data too with newer AMC3 modem, but I flashed back to ALL4 modem and blazing fast data again.

Hello all. I keep having issues with keeping mobile data working. Ill be surfing one minute then cut from data the next then i have to put it in airplane mode and take it back out for it to start working again. This happens quite a few times a day. I have tried making the new apn for internet as stated in one of the threads and it still did it. I switched to a wap.Cingular apn same thing happens. Im at wits end. This has happened on stock and several roms. I'm not in an lte area either. Can anyone help? Thanks.

What Radio are you running? I had similar issues on the UCLC5 radio, and they went away when I went back to the UCLC1 radio. The UCLC5 is paired with most ICS ROMs.
It could have been a bad flash of the Radio, because I'm now back on ICS with UCLC5 radio and I'm not experiencing any issues.
Good Luck!
I actually posted a thread about this a couple of weeks ago because the same thing was happening to me. Att just sent me a new sim card and that fixed the issue. But as of today it started happening again. I was on Seraphim rom coupled with the tablet mod and my data wasn't working. It would only work after turning on and off Airplane mode. Since then I flashed back to the unofficial Emily rom and haven't had an issue as of this morning.

I was Emily Saturday and didn't notice any issues that i can recall but i love alpha 2 with the tablet mode where do i get that radio and will it work with alpha 2? Thanks

It will work with ICS. I'd point you at the thread for modems but there are a lot of mislabeled t mobile modems there, this is UCLA 1, by diablo, the one I use

Sorry to be a bother. I have serached numerious post about simular problems with details pretaining to a fix in this matter. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-I777. The Rom I am currently running is ShoStock V.2.2.6, Android 4.0.3 with the cheerypicker Kernel and bandband ver.I777UCPLCS. The problem I have been having and did not have before flashing this rom, is that my 3G signal and HSPA+ notification keeps flickering back and forth. Plus my data speed have slowed up a bit. Yes, I could flash back to another rom but I really like the features of this one. Is there a fix to this problem is it a known problem? Thanks so much.
Try a different modem.
Also H+ only shows when using data, if not it will show the 3g instead.

I figured that LiLChris. But it keeps flickering back and forth. Plus this is mow happening in areas that I once had a full H+ signal with very fast speeds.

The flickering is part of ShoStock and most other ROMs. It shows you the true connection; as LiLChris said, it uses H+ only when using data, and defaults to 3G when no data is being sent. AT&T usually just hides this and makes it show H+ all the time, even though that's not accurate.
I know, it freaked me out at first too lol. As for data speeds, try different modems and also changing APN settings.
EDIT: I didn't know the problem was when you're sending data (you posted a couple secs before I did). APN settings and a different modem may help you out with that.
Sounds like modem issues as stated. In my area modems can vary by up to 2mbs depending on which one I try

Is flashing different modems cut and dry? Is there a place to go and see what modems in my area are good to use?

Really looking forward to a Sprint leak so we can have a new firmware update actually built for our phones and hopefully a little better radio performance?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
eh, mine is doing just fine how it is.
I just recently got stationed in Ft. Gordon, GA and my signal is worthless. Most everyone here is using AT&T and tethering off of 4G while I'm lucky to have 1 bar of 3G. Seriously I can't even stream a 5 minute YouTube video on my phone.
Supposedly there's some girl in my barracks that has a Sprint iPhone who gets good service.
I'm starting to wonder if it isn't my ROM. I'm using the ICS meanROM.

If you flashed the vm firmware might be that if not have you updated profile and prl
Edit also when I was in the navy some barrack rooms didn't get reception never understood why

But the leak was built for a carbon copy of our phones. It won't be much different when released officially. If they release radios with the update, you'll still be connecting to the same network.
Just don't get your hopes up for a big difference.

The firmware breaks a lot of stuff. Since the firmware 'update' by freeza I get dropped calls and my 3g connection completely dies until I restart my phone

I had this issue too my RTSP and HTTP settings changed to either 0 or it was blank. I changed it back to the normal sprint settings and I got more bars and a little better data speed.

That has zero effect on signal strength. It might effect data throughput but not signal strength.
I doubt official firmware will boost performance over stock sprint firmware we have now.

Not saying it does but before this I could not get more than one bar at my house where I normally get 3-4 could be something else on Sprint's end but it seemed better after this change.
Are we expecting the leak of the Sprint ROM soon? Did I miss something over the weekend?

I figured... We'll probably only get the full release, not a leak of any sort.

Found this modem over at the tmo s2 forum as official ICS just got released for the S2X, been playing around with it a bit, I've got it to work all though data hasn't been consistent may just need to be flashed over a fresh rom or something, thought I would post in case anyone wants to play around with it. the S2X is 42+ dc-hspa phone so not sure it would work with LTE but I'm not in an area with LTE so was hoping to get some better hspa speeds, anyways here it is

glad it worked for you! seems like it could be a potentially solid modem I only played around with it for a short while but going to try it out again soon, anyone else who's tried it post your experiences
This modem may need some tweaking before it's ready for all I had major device lag issues with this made my phone near unusable not to mention the strange glitching around my screen border. Back to ics blaze for now.

Browsing the net and playing a net based game, i get really long delays when loading anything. I havent experienced this on my s3, or when i had the dna. Has anyone else had this experience? When it happens i home button the app, open speed test and it tests great. Running 4.2.1Pa build, latest l4 modem, and basic kernel.

Flash back to the previous modem that might help

I'm noticing faster 4g but slower 4g with the new modem. I wish we had someone who could repackage them with 3g from the original modem and 4g from the new one and vice versa, on the thunderbolt we had this, not sure if it's possible on Samsung phones.
