I have got stock ICS rom, just rooted it and now want to install custom JB rom
Can i now just flash the new rom through recovery, can i go from an ICS to JB
that easy
Many thanks
Yes, as long as you have a safe kernel and custom recovery. A full wipe is a must.
As long as the ICS version is NOT 4.0.4.....
If it is, then you need to flash a "brickbug safe" kernel FIRST.......BEFORE you do any wiping....
Or this could be the result.....

I'm planning on using GT-I9100M_MKG2_insecure kernel from here to root my phone and then I would like to flash back to stock kernel so I don't have the yellow warning triangle.
My question is, is there a way to keep this original kernel I have (because the closest I can find is GT-I9100M_MKG2_original)?
OR is there any really awesome kernels that I should just replace my stock with?
Any other general advice is also appreciated.
Thanks!
There are many kernels in the development section, only you can say if kernel is awesome as only you would use your phone.
Withing each kernel thread you would see users reporting whether a kernel was good for them or not, but only when you flash, then you would know...
I installed the sde firmawre on the 4.1.2 firmware

hi @cajl, you must go back to ICS, then install 4.1.2

Hi everyone,
I have a GS2 I9100 with the following:
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband: I9100XXLQ6
Kernel Version: 3.0.15-I9100XWLPT-CL941023
The phone is rooted using a very old PhilZ kernel - "PhilZ-cwm6-XWLPT-XEU-2.5-signed.zip"
I have CWM Recovery version 6.0.1.4 installed.
I would like to install this ROM but have no idea where to start.
Is my phone safe from brickbug? Do i need a different kernel first before ROM?
Yes, you're safe.
No, you don't another kernel.
Look what you can find on that thread:

is granted if I could give some advice ..... you may indicate which are compatible with ics stock rom and what with jelly beans, like the blurry, jelly wiz or eclypse who sincerely do not work under safestrap stock with jelly beans .... more if I may say so, you should be a little more clear on how to install, for example, many asked me why if they created a partition gave him the Roma who had installed in the slot and not the stock, not everyone knows that to make a slot you have to put the stock base then restart and do the slot .....
