Okay i have a htc evo 4g lte and i have the viper 4g rom on it, (3.1.4) I rooted my phone when i first got it a long time ago and now i come to discover that it is still s on. I want to try to get it s off but i have hboot 1.12 and i dont have a linux so i cant use dirty racoon. I was looking for lazy panda but its no where to be found, even the website took it down. I am running on windows 7 and i dont want to change that. is there any way i can get s off on my evo? Also any roms you guys recommend? i haven't tried exploring past viper rom and cm10. But can someone please help ive spent all day googling and looking on here but all i can come up with is lazy panda and i wish i had the lazy panda software, and the other one i saw was dirty racoon and i dont have a linux to use it with. :crying:

I did run into a strange issue where I had to manually
eboot to bootloader and fastboot & issue the commands. I'm first to experience that problem. Other than that it worked great.

If you're on the latest firmware you'll need to use Babyracun to downgrade and then continue with Dirtyracun or Facepalm. I did Babyracun and then Facepalm.

I was in the same position, just ended up borrowing a friend's macbook. Going S-Off on Linux is mockingly easy.
Try hopping on a friend's macbook for an hour or so?
Or Google Ubuntu live cd or usb.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
I didn't even know what Ubuntu was and I was able to get s-off. I suggest you make a live cd and play around with it until you feel comfortable. Its easy just follow the directions to the letter, and download all the files completly first before you try starting the s-off process. Thats what I didn't do and kept getting an error. Team Unlimited also has a support channel.

A 32 bit or i386 Os will work on a x64 system. However you can install x64 Ubuntu and just install all the dependencies required using the i386 flag on apt-get

They say live usb interferes with usb connection at times. Better to play it safe like big daddy said. Live CD is easy, I use img burn to burn the iso.

I've been doing a lot of reading in preparation for rooting my Evo 3D that I've had since launch and with all the cool tools now available, there hardly seems to be any benefit to downgrade to HBOOT 1.4. Am I missing something?

I had no linux experience whatsoever, very limited knowledge of command terminals, and a lot if anxiety before I dove in and gave it a shot. I'm a total newb, just come on here to listen to the devs chat about what's going on with roms and flash a new one here and there blah blah blah. I maybe even should have realized I had no business trying the downgrade to 1.4 but I did it anyway. It was absofrickinlutely EASY, and all I did was follow and mimic EXACTLY what was in the videos. If some arbitrary know nothing newb like me can research for a couple hours how to make sense of the steps and get through it, the rest of you who haven't jumped should have no problem whatsoever! Just throwing that out there for what its worth.

Hopefully this can "fix" the issue a few of us have that somehow were updated to hboot 2.09 but still have firmware 1.05 by the 3.15 RUU.

I'm curious if the limitation to 32bit is simply because the developers didn't test on 64bit (and therefore won't support) or if there is any real threat to running on 64bit. I guess I could boot Linux 32 from USB, but prefer to just go with what I have. Currently I have Windows 7 64bit. Anyone else have sucess this way?
Now, here's my problem...all my computers are 64 bit. According to unlimited.io, the main issue they have is drivers. But they make it clear that it WILL NOT work on 64 bit... any suggestions rather than getting a new computer?
EDIT: didnt see the posts above me and below bigdaddy's(dunno why) but I think once again its a driver issue like they state on their website.

They make it clear that they WILL NOT SUPPORT, not that it doesn't work. I know it works but it is difficult to support everything, just download a livecd Ubuntu 32bit and load it up, run the exploit and be good to go.

64bit is not supported because of driver issues. Some have succeeded with it but that's a gamble and you won't get support from unlimited.io team.

I achieved S-off couple of days ago with windows 7 and 64 bit. I had no problems at all.
There are well known driver issues with 64 bit which is why a 32 bit system is required.
Download any iso for linux live and burn to CD. Or run from Windows 8 which works as well but you should get 64bit working since it works for me. Try deleting, registry entries etc and reinstall the correct drivers. Hope that helps.

3.16 is currently not supported for s-off. And windows 8 is not supported. You'll probably have to use a live disc of ubuntu.
