How to make the HTC logo a working button - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Can someone direct me to a link or give me instruction on how to make the HTC logo a working "button". Thanks for any assistance
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app

install one of the many custom kernels that have added support for it found in original development

Install one of the custom kernels that has this feature. You'll see it in the thread title - "HTCtomenu" or something like that. Kernel threads also usually have instructions. Look in the development sections.

Be aware the logo is not the button, but a small section of screen above it.

I wasn't a fan of it even after getting used to it.
Holding back button for menu isn't actually that bad and it's probably the method I will continue using.

it annoys me that EVERYTHING with a menu button gets hidden. Like the market, it had one at the top, its gone now and you have to hold back.
I would almost rather remove the mod and deal with the overflow button on the few apps it appears on.

It was like this on the One X as well.
The button thing with HTC is quite annoying

[Q] Is there a mod where i can get the recent app menu

I have a rooted galaxy s3 with custom rom but im just wandering the older version of android has that recent app menu in the notification menu which i liked, is there a way i can get it back ?
What do you mean?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Isn't that a HTC Sense thing?
I just hold the home button and use the task switcher..
This is an HTC thing. An old HTC thing.

I agree
Just like the galaxy nexus the on screen navigation keys.... Back home and recent apps button was great because on the galaxy S3 having to switch recent apps by pressing home button will wear and tear button and takes 2 seconds whereas on screen recent apps button was perfect
I know AOKP rom has this on screen keys mod but any add on that someone is developing or has developed for s3 with touchwiz framework would be winderful.... This new TW is beginning to grow on me

i think goluacher also has a recent and running apps in the menu.
Check out "Task Switcher" by gdroid on play store (com.gdroid.fastfive).
Personally I didn't like it, as the curtain doesn't close automatically. But it seems to work fine.
Maybe a developer can bake it back in once some roms start flowing. But nothing I've seen. Let us know!

Good job posting what the guy on top of you posted. How helpful.
There is a new app on the market called Multitask Shortcut, it's not free (only £0.50 though) and I have not tried it but it does seem to do what you are after (check out the video he has on the app page)...

Hey, hey, hey

Just switched over from Samsung Fascinate (hey nitsuj17). 4g is super fast I'm loving this phone, got all the vzw bloat disabled. Can't wait for s-off, root and all that good stuff.
I have one question though. Why is there no notification quick-settings, wasn't that added in 4.1?
Sent from my new Dinc4G using xda app-developers app
Added by nit... Settings in the upper right hand corner is similar.
I thought the one x and other HTC phones had the quick setttings tab on stock.

They did. We didn't get the recent app button remap either.

That's the way I felt till I started using it. Now I love it. I still find myself wanting the search button.

I thought I was gonna hurl the thing out a window when I first got it. Now I use the recent apps button all the time. I sure miss having them rotate though
And I agree, I miss the search button.
Long press on the home button for recent apps is more efficient use of the buttons. Then the recent apps button could be search.

Unless I am mistaken, this is how the "3-button mod" works. It will be another benefit of the pending root.

quick setting and htc on sense4/4.1/4/5/4+ has been an oddity for sure across the one series and other phones
on random ota/roms they enable it, others they disable it, others they completely remove the code
many sense4.1 ota's enabled a toggle in settings that allowed for switching of "recent" apps to menu...ours didnt for some reason
once you are rooted, custom roms fix this issue...and viperRom allows you to completely remap the long presses of all 3 buttons, and select what you want the menu to be
cant wait for root then

On screen Nav buttons

Now that we have root, does anyone know how to install the MOD we had for the SG3 where it would add on screen soft keys and make the home button ONLY wake up the phone. It would also disable the capacitive buttons....I miss this so much...absolutely hate the Samsung home button.
Thanks ahead of time!!
On-screen nav is literally one or two line changes. There's guides all over this site. Why dont you search and maybe figure it out yourself.

I would be afraid to follow a guide that wasn't listed specifically for this phone. Your response is kind of uncalled for.
Edit: This works.. I just did it. It is from the Sprint Note 2 forum... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34247225&postcount=14

seriously. please do us all a favor and get a different phone so we don't have to deal with you.
anyway. i wasn't really happy with the way this looked or worked so I went back. But if tweaked it could look / function better. It changed it so that if you hold the home button on screen and physical you get S-Voice. The on screen nav was really big also and the page indicators were covered by icons. It just looked and felt sloppy and there was no way to customize anything obviously.

For anyone who need help!

7) reboot phone.
DISABLING MENU AND BACKFLIP BUTOON
1) open root explorer

Only thing I don't like is this kind of messes with the dialer DPI, and now the top of recent calls and favorites is being cut off by a big block of blue.
Edit: On Bean's new ROM, the top names are still covered, but the "blue" block is now transparent stuff just a blue border, so the names are now visible, but you can only touch the part of the name that sticks out from the bottom of the block. This is definitely more manageable though.

Back button to close app drawer?

Does anyone know if this is possible? I keep finding myself pressing back, but then it would just leave me back in the app drawer instead of closing the app drawer and bringing me home. I want to close the app drawer with the back button and not need to press the drawer button.
Bump!
It could be dependent on the launcher you are using. I am using Nova Launcher. When I am in the app drawer and I press back, it brings me back to home.

Only thing I don't understand is that it takes this same effort to close it by pushing the home button as it does the back button. Am I missing something?

It's rubbish because it doesn't conform to standards and as such is a sore thumb for the user experience. The purpose of conforming to standards is to create consistent operations throughout the product instead of having someone press the back button because it works everywhere else and not work here.

I agree to an extent, only because I find that compared to navigation on the One X, the app drawer makes things clumsy and you have one extra thing to think about. I don't like it, it's not intuitive, but this is a beautiful frackin phone so I won't complain too much.

Recent apps button question...

Just got my m8 and I'm trying to figure out if there was a way to remap (not sure if that's correct term here but...) the recent app button?
What I mean is, on my OneXL there was a way to change the recent apps button to be a "menu" button with short tap , and recent apps on long button hold. I used it a lot for an app that we use for work.
I searched around on the forum here for the m8 and didn't see anything so if this has been asked before I apologize. But does anyone know if there's a mod or an xposed mod that would allow this on our phone?
Thanks

I'm interested in this as well.
Edit: If you plan on rooting, you can use ViperOne ROM to customize your buttons. I just switched from Skyfall to try out ViperOne and discovered it.
