Is it still worth it to buy a RAZR coming from a thunderbolt? I know anything will be better then what I have now, but I want to keep my unlimited data. I'm mixed between the nexus and RAZR since they are both around the same price on eBay. I would prefer the large battery since I use my phone now as a hotspot.

I just came from a Thunderbolt to a RAZR. You may have even seen me in the forums there if you viewed them... I was very active. Needless to say, it's worth it to try a RAZR. Compared to how the Thunderbolt was made, this phone physically feels cheap in your hand... but it's no competition to the Bolt.
I'd try it out if I were you. With you also being a Thunderbolt user, especially after who knows how long, I'm sure you'll have a pleasant experience.

If you don't play heavy games, the RAZR MAXX will do very well. If you like to play too though, better pick the Razr Maxx HD because the chip is newer. Not that the RAZR Maxx can't handle, but it show it's age like when playing the Iron Man 3 for example.
Thanks for the input. In have had the TB to long, since it was released.

Definitely a great upgrade from a TBolt. It's still a top phone going over a year and a half now. Dual core 1.2 and a decent screen. They only thing I would want upgraded (still content with) is the screen. It could be more HD. The battery is ok being has I have an OG Razr. I definitely recommend the MAXX if it is in your budget. I came from Droid 2.

The screen on this XT912 RAZR is MUCH better than the Thunderbolts. This screen is amazing.
Sent from my XT912 using xda app-developers app
Well i'd rather go for a Nexus 4 or a Maxx HD.
I, too, had a Thunderbolt since the day it was released, but inherited my wife's XT912 a couple of months ago, after she upgraded to a Note 2. Since HTC released ICS for the TB, I've been occasionally switching back to the old' "Bolt" every now and then, and its still really quite useful. I would get a RAZR Max HD, if you can afford it, as I am underwhelmed by the poor camera on my Razr Maxx.

Well yea it is. I'm saying the only thing I really want to improve on this phone is the screen. In no way was I comparing it to the Tbolts screen.

Went for the Razr after seven days of Nexus testing. Mostly due to brighter screen, SD card slot, camera and battery.

Well, I buy the phones....so yeah...n RAZR was my first choice. Ive been buying every phone in the franchise since the V3
I initially wanted the nexus, but Hort tired if all the delays and got the razr. And I have to say, I liked it better then what the galaxy nexus sounds like. I'm impressed with how solid the phone feels. After coming from the thunderbolt. The features of the razr I like better and we won't have to wait to long to get ice cream sandwich.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA App
I had the GSM galaxy nexus and now I have the GSM Droid razr
-Pros (galaxy nexus)
Ice cream sandwich
Better battery life
The best or one of the best looking phones in the smartphone industry
Panoramic setting for camera
NFC
Super amoled HD
Front facing 2mp camera
-Cons
5mp camera
Soft speaker
Signal issues
Lack of micro SD slot
-Pros (razr)
8mp camera
Better speaker
Motocast
qHD display
Android 4 standard keys (pro or con depending on what you like)
Micro SD slot
-Cons
1.3 MP camera
2.3.5 android (for the time being)
Wide design
Battery life
In the end both phones are awesome but I feel like the Droid razr is more for me.

I wanted the nexus; but when i tired one it had a few issues; then i read the boards and saw others (but not everyone) had the same issues. No clue if bad samples or flaws in the phone (the major issue I noticed was very soft speaker; and on my test calls the person sounded garbled; though they said i was very clear). That coupled with signal issues i've read about scared me off. To be honest if the rezound had the razr's screen I would have gone that route (biggest flaw of hte rezound screen is weak visibility outside and highly reflective). To be honest I wished verizon had gotten the galaxy 2; I think my biggest dislike with the razr is the non-changeable battery (coupled with limited battery life) and verizion bloat wear. I hope ICS lets us disable some of this verizon crap; i find it laughable that the biggest issue with the moto. upgrade last week is some people have issue with verizion location agent chewing up battery life.
The above rant is relevant in that on the nexus (almost ) no mandatory verizon apps.
Nexus seems to have a lot of connectivity issues not only with data but also in general with calls. Granted it has ICS give it a few months and RAZR will have it. They both have super amoled screens and almost identical processors. GN being slightly newer.
I say if the RAZR had ICS now, it would win EVERY comparison review. Most places I read that compare the 2 prefer the razr and either put it at a tie or give it to the GN just for ICS... Just by having ICS it shouldn't outweigh its short comings.
Battery is fine on my Razr. I donno how it could be a con. Better than my rooted cm7 DX even.

No Nexus here. Two of my coworkers have them and I've played extensively.
Nice phone (feels good in the hand) but not superior to the razr from a hardware stance. The novelty will wear off once we get ICS. If we got our BL unlocked it would be game over.

I got the galaxy nexus, but I cannot stand the signal issues. I can't use my phone at work while my coworkers laugh at me with full bars and data connection. So I have compared the Droid to my nexus and it does have significantly better reception. So is the Droid razr worth switching from the galaxy nexus?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
I changed from a SGS2 to a RAZR for the same reason. Far better reception and call quality. You won't regret it.
Quadrant scores mean SFA when you can't actually use it for a phone call - which is why we buy them!

The nexus felt cheap to me. ICS is coming to the razr soon enough, besides id rather they work all the bugs out before pushing it to the razr. As you stated the signal strength is a problem with the nexus. Also no usb mass storage and no sd card slot factored into my decision. The hardware is basically the same. Also i might be a little bias towards Motorola as every Motorola device ive owned has been top notch.
I am sure many will disagree with me, but I preferred the razr over the nexus.

I totally agree with you. Motorola makes some solid phomes. I owned the atrix 4g and I loved it. The last Samsung phone I had was the captivate and it was one horrible esperience. Yellow screens, poor battery life, GPS broken, and many more. The nexus does feel cheap but sits nicely in my hand I can type with one hand with is a big plus. While I tried holding the razor and it felt akward in the hand. I also seen that the phone is too skiny wide to type with one hand. Well we'll see. I'm waiting on the maxxx gonna check it out and make my final decision. Thank you guys for all the answers. Really helped me out.

I had a Gnex but returned last week. I loved owning an unlocked device (and playing with various roms), but the poor phone radio and battery life killed me. Jumping on the RazrMaxx on Thursday.
It's a real shame about the Razr. I do really like Motorola devices, but without a unlockable bootloader I just can't purchase it. ICS on my Nexus S has spoiled me.
My RAZR has had great battery life...much better than my wife's iPhone 4. I like the Verizon network so unlocking isn't a concern here. I agree the thinness of the phone was awkward but I put an otter box on anything over 199.00 lol But I can't say I would switch if i already had either the Nexus or RAZR. Too much of a hassle. Hope you enjoy whatever you choose.

How did you end up with this phone? What made you choose it? What makes you keep it? Post your story.
I have the Razr Maxx on Verizon Wiress (CDMA). Things I dislike about this phone...
1. The camera, it's no slouch but I got use to the camera on my previous GS2. That has better lense/camera.
2. Slight lag here and there, again I came from a GS2 that used Exynos processor.
3. No HD display BUT I am a big fan of Super Amoled. I just love how the colors pop.
4. Locked boot loaders!! (My Samsung GS2 was so easy to root and flash things on.)
There was even some points I thought of selling my Maxx and getting a GS3. I loved the GS2 but main problem was it had a really horrible wireless radio plus being on Sprint network did not help. I had no intentions in getting a Razr when I walked into the Verizon store. I already liked Samsung, I just needed better service. Had my mind on the Galaxy Nexus. But I loved the build of the slim RAZR. Tried it for a week or so, Ioved it. Got signal in areas I never did with other phones being on other networks. Battery was a big problem, like most Android phones, I said eff it and got the Maxx.
The radio and battery life make up for all the things I dislike about this phone. I just got a case from Seidio and that gives me the new phone feel again lol. I gave up things getting this phone but I've also gained things so it balances out

The main criteria to buy a phone, is it has to be able to works as a phone. Period. Previously, I have RAZR V3xx, before changed to other Nokia phones and the Nexus One. V3xx was a very good phone which did a very good job as a phone; makes and receives calls. It also a very good HSDPA 3G "modem", USB tethered to laptop. Now I have RAZR XT910... and it just as good as the V3xx. I don't care how many cores, benchmark's scores or frames speed, but, if it cannot functioning as a proper phone, than it is worthless to me.
Thank you.

RAZR Maxx if using your device as a phone is top priority, wireless radio is great with the RAZR. Wi-Fi range can be choppy but it's decent. Plus with a Maxx, no more worrying about battery life. It will last all day with heavy usage and some more. I can have brightness on all the way up if I chose to. No more looking at a dark screen to try and conserve battery.
The GS3 has a better camera. Smoother phone I use to rock a GS2 and that was lag free so I assume no less with the GS3. And you get a better screen display with the GS3. But I hear it has a poor wireless radio, that was the reason I gave up my GS2, came to Verizon and got a Motorola.

Based on defaults, the Maxx kills the GS3, despite having a lower resolution screen and inferior camera, TouchWiz is just so damn ugly.
Otherwise it's all just preference. The GS3 has superior hardware, the Maxx has more awesomerest battery life.

The Galaxy Note 2 looks like a beast, only thing for me is that I don't know how comfortable it will be in my pocket. I've held the first NOTE, although it is huge I can still hold it and use it decent. Just carrying it around seems like a hassle.
I have an AT&T upgrade sitting there and am eyeing the Note 2...but my GSM MAXX + Nexus 7 works fine as-is. Also, the Lumia 920 looks interesting.
Whatever gets my upgrade will be the best possible device out there. We shall see.
Going to look at buying the galaxy note 2, unless rumors start to drop about a nexus device from moto/google.that has as good as specs as gn2.

I am hoping we'll see the next Google phone made by more than one manufacturer. I would definitely look at the Motorola one if the specs were right.
It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Verizon didn't get the next google phone since big red is totally against development and locking boot loaders. Android is Open Source, it's suppose to be developed on!! Now Verizon needs to approve android updates too? That's bull crap.
I have been in love with the note ever since it was announced.
This Motorola has the best reception and GPS of any phone I have had though so the new RAZR hd maxx is in the running too.
I exercise with my phone so something too big might not work that well.
I don't think a computer would be necessary after the note though.

I have plans of getting the note 2 when it drops. Only problem is I will be paying full price since I don't want to lose my unlimited with Verizon

I know that sucks but it's so worth it for unlimited data on Verizon's 4G LTE, it's fast where I live. After you get the Note 2 just sell your current phone online.

Depending on price and avaibility i would change my razr maxx for a hd maxx
I'm really excited about the MAXX HD, but not sure if it's coming to Malaysia.
Not really a fan of the note, though. Too big for my hands, and head.

If it's because of the locked boot loaders, Verizon is locking down Samsung phone's too. Probably all their Android phones now. For me, Motorola has it's pros and cons. I mainly chose my Maxx for the wireless radio and battery life. But I do miss the Samsung camera on the last phone I had. And Samsung software is smoother too.
im not that rich so ill be getting the Atrix hd

That's not my case i live in puerto rico and we get the international phones so no Verizon excuse for moto and yes i will never buy a moto again because of The bootloader and their lies about unlocking and then screwing everybody with a developers edition.

Go for the galaxy note 2. It looks crazy powerful, and with a huge 3100 mAh battery.

I think the Note 2 might be good for you. Samsung phones are easy to root and flash stuff on in general without the locked boot loader.
I'm going for Note 2 just waiting for the pre-orders to open here to get mine.

Razr HD/ HD Maxx: Yes. I like the new hardware design and big battery is a plus. The main disappointment is the AMOLED screen. Why cant they just use the screen on the Atrix HD??????
Note 2: Nope. Anything made by Samsung is a no go. ANd their fan boys are like nazis trolling around the internet bully everyone whose preferences differ from them.

They're using Super Amoled HD for the RAZR HD & Maxx HD. The same display that's on the GS3. I like it personally. It's a lot better than any qHD or pentile in my opinion.

I will get the Razr HD with its cool kevlar coating. Amoled HD display will just be beautiful, no doubts with that.
