Is it possible to install the 1.29 update on an ATT HTC One? Would I require an unlocked bootloader to do that? Are there repercussions I should be aware of?
You can flash any International ROM once you're unlocked/rooted/custom recovery. All of which are most likely based on .29 WWE firmware.

If your reason for flashing is because the camera and beats improvements. There's no need. The att firmware shipped with the improvements.

Well that is pretty disappointing considering my pictures have horrible over exposure still with any kind of bright light or the sky. The 1.26 to 1.29 images from the PocketNow test are vastly improved. My AT&T One still looks like the pre-updated international firmware pics.

The whole point of having software versioning in increasing order is to correspond to new developments. I have hard time believing the camera, beats and any other "improvements" made in 1.29 is in AT&T's 1.26.
Surely if this were true someone would have some proof. Let's see it?

Doesn't require anything special. Just takes them getting the tuning right. Then they bring the intl version up to date. Hence them getting different version. Remember they released first.

I'm still calling BS. It makes absolutely no sense that one version would be different than another for the exact same development. Anyone that believes otherwise is just naive. There is proof one way or the other, it just has to be revealed.

Why not. Do you know how product cycles work? They just don't make all the phones at one time... Theres the pre production phones which were at the announcement and early reviewers. Then they would of started the intl version production soon after if not it was already done. If they decided to make an adjustment during the making of the intl ONE it's easier to continue the product run and fix with a ota than it is start all over... US versions have to be picked over before production. So they would of had time to tweak software.
So no it's not naive. Saying there's no way is naive .

To me, you would think this, being a pretty big development, would break here on XDA.
While I am hoping its true, as I am holding off until something like this is released, it just seems a little to good to be true.
But go for it if you want!
Just follow a guide on here, it's pretty much dead simple to unlock your bootloader through HTC. I highly doubt this is legit but in the time it took you to make this post and wring your hands about it you could have unlocked the bootloader, rooted and installed a custom rom.
netstal trembley
im not saying its not legit but, like said a couple of posts above, if it was legit, i'd think it would be xda by now
My theory - If no one has commented anything at all and there's no one to vouch for it, don't become the martyr or the first victim.
I'm happy about the feed back from you guys. This is the reason I posted it here, because I knew someone would have a good insight about this topic.

Click the download button and it says right there that it won't work. Only supports android up 4.0.3, and no HTC devices although they hope to support them in the future. It's virus free according the VirusTotal, but I still wouldn't use it on a supported phone without confirmation from someone else that it won't ruin it.
Hi, I'm one of the people behind the development of One Click Root. I can assure you our software does not contain viruses or any other malicious code.
The poster above me is correct. We currently don't have support for HTC devices as we're still working on a few of the finer details of automating HTCDev.com bootloader unlocking. We do hope to add support for HTC devices in the near future, along with a number of the most popular new devices on the latest ICS and Jelly Bean OS versions.

If we see it, I think it'll be a positive sign that the carriers listen to the voices of users wanting (demanding) updates and similar featuresets to other models of the same handset (not stripped down) but I'd be really surprised if we ever see another official update out of AT&T for the Note.
We're under contract for two years, IMO we should get good support and reasonable updates for those two years.
I still think if carriers didn't screw with the updates so much, they could get them out faster and cheaper, but I doubt that'll happen

true but not exactly what I meant. What I mean is say Samung goes to release say the Note 3, they write an ASOP rom, and then another that has all of the touchwiz, multiple windows and other cool samsung apps. When the phone hits the carrier, it will inevitably be laced with AT&T bloatware, but we'd still have the original ASOP from sammy to choose from. Now I know in this model there's no way a company like Samsung could maintain 2 ROMs for every phone, but I think many of us would prefer to go without touchwiz for a clean experience and true customizability that Android was meant to be.
Really though, if Google went to more of a modular design instead of encoding the hardware drivers within a kernel that would be the end all of that. Yes I do understand that kernal compilation with the drivers provides a speedier system, but heck our phones are packing a dual core and it's just linux and linux is quick by nature.
Just my thoughts.
With all the of 4.2 coming out where is the 1.29 update?
I just want the battery enhancement ans camera upgrade.

The rep would not know anything except an update currently in the pipeline, that is, already heading our way. Only someone at Tmo corporate headquarters would know the strategic deployment strategy, and they do not talk. TMO tends to release updates later than other companies.
t-mobile tends to release updates not at all...
a few years ago my smartphone was updated for all carriers except t-mobile. everyone went up an android version while I did not.
who cares how much difference it makes... t-mobile is clearly lazier about updating than other companies and need a push to do so.

Well, for my Amaze 4G, they released the upgrade to ICS after about 5 months. And then very recently they did another upgrade, which would be almost a year later. But that first major update wasn't that late.
The way I look at it, if you're using these forums, you shouldn't have to wait for carrier updates. HTC did announce that an update is in the works.

true that, the more I think about this the more I think I might as well just root the damned thing and say screw the warranty... its not like I woul ever pay for that PHP plan...
I'm skeptica stable a custom Rom would be that also allows me to keep my Wi-Fi calling

t-mobile tends to release updates not at all...
a few years ago my smartphone was updated for all carriers except t-mobile. everyone went up an android version while I did not.
who cares how much difference it makes... t-mobile is clearly lazier about updating than other companies and need a push to do so.

This is simply not true. Take the Galaxy S2 for example. They updated 3 times...Froyo-->GB-->ICS--JB.

Seems legit androidcentral reported this is rolling out too.
This update (1.29.1540.16) is for the Dev edition. The at&t edition is not getting an OTA
This is true.
Far as we know, att may have gotten their crap together and started shipping it out.

I'm runing CleanRom 2.0 with Elemental X kernel, (which is a wonderful combination btw) I'm wondering if there will be any advantages over what I'm running when AT&T comes out with their upgrade?
Yep I believe I got it because I'm running dg's cognition...in his thread there are already folks reporting about this...and it's not apliable unless you do it manually...or just wait for dg to update his Rom which just might be past this update already...I'm choosing to sit and wait

17mb sounds about right from what I read.
Its not a major update. Just to address minor things. The big update has yet to come.

you know there is an ATT ruu now which is newer than all of the att software that was shipped. Hoping scott or one of our ATT devs uses it as a base soon. DG stated he thought this ruu was the ATT update that they will be pushing out soon.. I locked and installed it to get any new firmware that it might have, stuff that doesnt come with custom roms. I do not know what the changes are with this ruu, there isnt a change log yet. I wasnt having any issues to start with and i didnt see any changes. That doesn't mean it wont fix your particular issue..if you have an issue that is.. Just thought i'd mention it b/c you guys seem interested in ATT updates..If you already knew, disregard. If you didnt, then here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2287036
And just because this is a lower number than the dev and international phones, that doesnt mean its older or doesnt have the same bug fixes..
Fyi Scott has used this recently go check it out

On top of my not knowing what RUU is, I doubt it applies to me anyway. I am completely stock not rooted and bootloader locked. This is the first phone that I actually like stock and don't feel like messing with.
