As the title states, I'm having problems with tango verifying my phone number through sms.
Heres what happens, I download the app and put in my info including email and it states that I need to verify my phone number with a sms message it will send. So I hit the SEND button and I get nothing! I've tried this both with a stock phone and with a trickdroid one and both fail to receive message.
I've looked on tango site and it states that android will automatically intercept the message and verify my account which is not happening. Is anyone else having this same issue too?
Thanks,
Tim
anyone care to do an quick download and test tango out for me???
It installed just fine for me and even picked up my old call logs from a couple of years ago. It didn't require a verification of my number though, or at least it didn't say it did.
I'm completely stock, though, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Are you using a 3rd party SMS app?

there doesnt appear to be anything in search relating to this so here goes.......
.....im getting sick of htc changing so many features and settings on this phone everytime they release an update. ive got another issue now. not mentioning the dozen ive managed to sort myself in the last day or so.
my text messages are now all over the place. if i recieve a message i hit the message icon on the scroll bar and it opens. reply and then close. normal situation. however. when i want to send another message to the same person either by opening their contact info or hitting the message icon and finding the conversation there is no info at all. wtf!!!
if i go to all messages i get a list of all recipients and the last message either sent or recieved but when i click on that person to reply the entire conversation, 1,2 10, 100 messages that are in brackets next to their name are nowhere to be seen. ive tried removing contact pictures, deleting numbers and attaching them to the contact when a message comes in. no luck. been through the messaging settings, cant find anything else to check or uncheck to resolve this situation. ive no contacts on my sim card just the phone.
cheers. i do need to know if its a general thing with this rom or is my phone just playing up? anyone else noticed this? communications is a big part of messaging and as all phones nowadays seem to be able to record and display conversations with each contact i find it hard to believe htc suddenly decided to bin the idea.
anyone got any suggestions as to how i recover this option as i cant be asked to remember the last few messages of every conversation i have. not to mention important information that i cant access if i cant pull up more than one previous message!
I have the new stock Rom 3.14, and I haven't encountered anything like you've described here. What application did you use to restore the backed-up messages after you flashed the ROM?
fixed this. i had installed a cab recently which disables the annoying 'sent message successfully' notification. but this was also causing the above mentioned problem. unistalling the cab means ive got my conversations back and all contacts/messages link properly. see here for all info and further links... http://www.htchd2forum.com/general-htc-hd2-discussion/more-hatred-for-new-3-14-rom-(conversations)/

Managed to install successfully the Whatsapp Messenger over my 10.1 HTC JetStream which means that i can send/receive Text, Pictures, Videos from & to my tablet, either over WiFi or Cellular. This is great as i can photo with my tablet and send it to any mobile phone that run's whatsapp and its FREE. Same goes for receiving Text or pictures.
Its a great way to communicate FREE from my tablet.
Didn't managed to download the apk file from the market so i googled for it and just installed it, registered & it work.
BTW - The HTC JetStream is SIM Unlocked - was locked to ATT when i got it and easily managed to have it working on ORANGE network. see other thread in the forum.
As stated earlier, whatsapp works great on the Jetstream.
One small issue is that i do not able to see the contact list wheni want to compose a message to someone who didn't text me earlier. The contact list in the "compose message" is empty. anyone got the same issue ?
Any idea how to resolve it ?

I'm using text + which lets you send a text to anyone in your Google contacts and also shows you the list. Not to thrilled about the randomly assigned number when you sign up, but it does work for SMS and MMS.
how did u install whatsapp?
where did u get the APK from?

Back when I was using Symbian nokia, it was easy to see both sent and received time of the text messages I sent. However, in Android all I have is the 'sent' time and no information on when is has been received by the recipient, other than the fact it has been received.
How can I access this info?
It seems to be a known Android limitation. You can check the discussion that is going on since 2009 here:
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2989
You might be able to overcome the problem by installing an app called "SMS Timestamper Fix" available on the market.
I believe that only works with the stock messaging app and I have not tested it myself but probably worths a shot.
Good luck.
I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing.
SMS timestamp fixer remedies the issue where the incoming sms is one or two hours out of sync with local time.
What I am talking about is the access to the information when the person I am sending the message to actually received this message - after, say, her phone has been switched on.
The description on the market of the app I mentioned reads:
Description
This app will fix the timestamp on incoming SMS to the time that the message was SENT, not when received by your phone.

I thought that was exactly what you were looking for. But, as I said, I didn't test it. The comments on the market are encouraging though.
No, no, no. This is something totally different to what I want.
I am using SMS timestamp fixer since a long time. It is a totally different problem I am talking about here.
So what you want is a read receipt or delivery notification (with a timestamp) which is also a known problem on Android:
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2305
It seems that Handcent SMS has that function working partially, from what I read on the linked thread. Have you tried that?
From what I see, this is about delivery notification. I am getting it just fine (pending / failed / received).
What I am NOT getting is the information at what time the message has been delivered to the handset.
My wife and I both grabbed new S2's on Sunday. Since then when text each other our messages often come through as emails, and the from number is often in a weird format. This is irregular, and I have found no solution. I have called and gone int he store, and neither avenue has given me any form of solution.
This only happens when my wife and I send each other messages. Messages are absolutely fine with everyone else.
Here is an example, I will create a new message to "Jessica" I will send the message. That message will likely show up on her phone in proper SMS format from me. She will reply, I usually receive that one fine as well. I then reply back, this time the message has switched into a strange email syntax type format. It will also show up as a new thread from my cell number @txt.att.net instead of from my cell number or contact name. Often instead of it coming through as the above example the number will change into a different number all together, 1410000021 which in no way resembles our actual numbers.
It doesn't matter if I initiate the conversation or it she does. We have cleared all message threads, history, and contact information attempting to flush out errors. We have tried other SMS apps, such as Handcent, still no luck. I have also tried a different SMSC number.
Any suggestions?
Try a factory reset?
Stock rom? Rooted?

we have not done a factory reset, we are new to android, if we did that would we lose all of our contacts, media, and installed apps?
They are both stock.

Do you have AT&T's new-ish (at least to me it is, had never heard of it till i got my SGS2) messages app, that incorporates all your phone calls, texts, voicemails into one app? It uses MMS to send you transcribed voicemail in a visual voicemail type layout. I haven't played with it myself, but my wife is using it (on her sgs2). I'm wondering if it could be a setting in there somewhere that is triggering duplicate messages?? My wife isn't getting duplicates, but just tossing it out there....
I don't believe we have the messaging app you mention. I am not sure though as we are new to Android so I am unable to know if this is the newish app. It does not have voice-mail included in it though. We have tried using both the stock app and Handcent, neither fix the solution. Also, its not duplicates we are receiving, we are only getting one copy of each message, they are just showing up as emails.
I have an unlocked Galaxy S2 running stock Gingerbread (2.3.4), unrooted. A problem has arisen whereby I can no longer send SMS's to one of my contacts (it has never been a problem before). I've tried deleting all previous message threads with that contact, but it didn't help. I then tried deleting the contact and sending an SMS to her number. The message was sent, but when I got a reply I was unable to reply to it. The reply also picked up the other person's name from somewhere, even though I'd deleted the contact from both the phone and my Gmail account.
I've tried both Handcent and the stock messaging app, and neither is able to send an SMS to this person. Other contacts are fine.
Can anyone suggest a fix?

it could be a problem in your network.. i had experienced that before, i tried flashing different firmwares and etc but it still didn't fix the problem.. so might as well call you network provider.
or you could also try to reset to factory settings/wipe data or better yet flash a new firmware
Hi
I too haven't had this problem but a similar one where I can't access contacts on sum card. I think if you have had your phone rooted.and installed ics or another rom it formats it slightly different i think because when I installed the aroma rom I had on when I saved the contacts I could see them but when I switched roms they disappeared. Not sure this answers all your question but might explain why her name popped up after you deleted it. Try installing a simcard viewer I tried this as my next solution and was able to see prior contacts there is one somewhere with no permissions I think.
Hope I helped
The same problem has occured on my Galaxy SII: After the SMS-thread from one contact got deleted I can't send SMS to her, I get status "failed" and under message details it says "Error code 1", I receicve messages from her but can't answer them, however an MMS with a picture got sent yesterday.
Has anyone with similar problems found an answer?
I eventually flashed new firmware: Stock ICS via Kies (4.0.4). Still can't send an SMS to the contact though. Has anyone else resolved this yet?
