How did you like the GNex?
As for the one I got it because all the gsm hardware is the same and as far as aosp is now we have a truly dev friendly platform and phone. All we need is s-off and super cid so we can have total control. the one may be the next HD2.
I need to return my device (defective) and did not nandroid the stock ROM before flashing Renovate.
Is it best to flash this recovery and unroot?
If so, do I just boot into fastboot (hold power and volume down) and adb file from pc to phone? Can I flash?
Or, should I flash the rooted stock ODEX ATT ROM that is available here?
Im a newb, Thanks for the help.

Sweet!!! Thanks much. (Pushing the button!)
I basically wipe/reset, wipe cache, flash odex att from CWM. Reboot.
Then (power/volume down) to fastboot recovery, then flash this through adb on my PC? So I need to put this in the file on my PC, right?
And how do I relock? I will search for a thread unless you know of one.
Again, thanks very much.

Just search in the international forum. I think the command is fastboot bootloader relock or something
Fastboot oem lock
Thanks for everything guys.
Would the combination of ATT odexed ROM and ATT stock recovery still get OTAs etc.?

for relock you do need the stock ruu (which is currently not available for AT&T ) otherwise the phone wont exit out of the bootloader menu . I had to exchange my phone tried to relock i couldnt so ended just getting it back to stock and flashed this recovery and got it exchanged.

You need to flash stock recovery and unroot before you relock otherwise you get a boot loop. It has been tested on the international forum without using a ruu

From what I understand it needs to be done in a specific order.
1) flash stock cwm backup MUST be stock kernel and rom without system RW, root, busybox or init.d support. I looked and the "Stock" roms on the dev forum are not fully stock. So unless you have a 100% stock nandroid backup this will not work.
2) In CWM factory reset and format in mounts data, cache & Dalvik cache
3) Flash in fastboot the stock recovery
4) run this command in fastboot "fastboot erase cache"
5) run this command in fastboot "Fastboot oem lock"
6) your system should boot fine to 100% stock att. This is worthless untill we get a 100% stock unmodified att backup so a rom can be made.
you are right the Stock i flash was stock but was rooted (although i unrooted it manually) and with System RW enabled maybe thats why i couldnt boot.
thanks for the detailed instructions , this is all new to me coming from Galaxy series (S, S2, S3 and Note 2)

So I flashed cm 10.1 before achieving S-Off. Bootloader unlocked, rooted with TWRP installed. It sits on "quietly brilliant". I can get into fastboot and recovery, but cannot get any files onto my sd card. Can someone help me get back to a stock rooted rom so I can achieve S-Off properly? Or if it's easier, I'll go all the way to complete stock and start over. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You most likely need to fastboot flash the kernel (boot.img) so the ROM will boot. Just another reason to get S-off

You have to install the stock recovery first as I recall, then you can RUU.

i tried flashing stock recovery from fastboot and i got a "not allowed" message.
Why can't you take out your sd card plug in the pc and place meanbean rom on there. Flash meanbean which will flash the kernel. Then flash stock rooted rom.

Would be better help if I knew more of what is going on. Were you trying to S-OFF with CM10.1 installed? Did you just flash CM10.1 while S-ON and can't get the phone to boot? But anywho... with what I know now:
If you still have the CM10.1 ROM on your phone:
take the boot.img out of the .zip and
fastboot flash boot boot.img
that will install the boot.img / kernel and should allow your phone to boot.
Then you can go back in TWRP and flash a stock ROM.
To flash a ROM in fastboot:
fastboot -w
to wipe you device
fastboot update ROM.zip
that will install your ROM in fastboot mode.
fastboot flash boot boot.img after too I assume.
Or you can even do so by using adb in TWRP:
adb shell
mount data
adb push d:\custom_rom.zip /data/
Wait until the push finishes and restart your device to recovery again with "adb reboot-bootloader"
mount data
mount /data /sdcard (mount the data folder into your sdcard folder)
find your ROM.zip
Confirm the flash by following the on-screen instructions
if no errors then reboot the device
Also, in TWRP with your phone plugged into the computer you should be able to mount the phone to get access to your storage on your computer. Not 100% sure why that would matter or why you need to get to your storage though. I'm pretty sure that's called USB-OTG.

Also another option.
If you're trying to get the .zip for the boot.img just download the version you need from the computer, open the .zip, pull the boot.img out and do the fastboot command to install the boot.img / kernel.
If you need or want to RUU then you should be able to:
fastboot oem lock
that will obviously relock your device
then you can fastboot oem rebootRUU
then fastboot flash zip RUU.zip (assuming you have your proper RUU already) when on the black HTC screen
after that completes fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then you'll be back to stock and should be able to boot the device, root, or whatever you please.
I think I covered every option. Lol.
Personally, I would just RUU again.
I've done this before with CM10 while trying to gain S-OFF and just RUU'd my device to see what would happen.
Keep in mind: anything can happen. I went into the process knowing there would be a possibility of a fail in which case I would smash the phone and pay $150 to asurion to get another device since I had the protection from Sprint.

Delete your current recovery.img.
Re-download your recovery.
fastboot erase cache
install your recovery again
fastboot erase cache
boot into recovery
when connected you should be able to transfer files from PC to phone.
Otherwise you might need to use USB-OTG I think.
wipe data, cache, delvik/cache, system
Install the ROM.
reboot to bootloader
pull boot.img out of your ROM download
fastboot flash boot boot.img
reboot to system.

As I was using CM 4.4.2, everything was going fine, I had 3 bars of LTE, and then I tried to make a call and it said mobile networks not available, I checked my signal in the status bar and it still said LTE and data still worked fine. I went to my phone settings and checked it and it said my mobile network was unknown, and my phone number was 000-000-0000. I wiped, and flashed CM10.2(4.3) and it did the exact same thing, only this time it said my phone number, but still, I couldn't make any calls or text, I've tried flashing two sense 5 roms and none of them display my phone number or let me call or text, but upon changing the subscription type from global to LTE/CDMA, it gives me LTE data, but that's it...Can anyone please help me?

Stock DNA Recovery Image
To flash the Recovery:
Place the file in your fastboot/adb directory on your computer.
Put the device in fastboot mode:
(Volume down and power until menu appears, select fastboot using power button)
Connect the device to the computer
The image is easily installed via an unlocked bootloader with the following command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery imagename.img
For example, I provided a recovery img named dnastockrecovery.img
So you would type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery dnastockrecovery.img
The image must be in your fastboot working directory.
Or you can use Flashify from the Play Store.
I recommend getting used to and familiar with doing it via fastboot though.

You do know flashing 3.06 ruu makes it stock recovery. Not sure of you flashed a Rom or a ruu
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
S-on users will need to relock/lock bootloader before flashing.
S-off users can simply flash using either method below. I also have included an S-off only option which i removed the boot and recovery img from (perfect for users on custom roms who only want to update firmware)
Option 1) Use fastboot to flash
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip ATT444firmware.zip
*** If any message appears about reflush and flash run above command again ***
fastboot reboot-bootloader
**** this firmware has both stock boot and recovery so flash your custom rom's kernel and/or your custom recovery NOW before rebooting****
Option 2)
Rename zip file to 0P6BIMG.zip and place on your external SD card. Reboot to hboot and allow bootloader to update/flash
Download Links Do NOT mirror these elsewhere.

I think you will need to reflash your ROM as dottat did not specify if he had made the package for s-off not to wipe. Generally during firmware update, it will wipe clean the phone to reset partitions, I am assuming. If you come from gpe firmware, best to reflash because gpe and sense have different partitioning.
Hold power+vol up to force shut down then use power+vol down to get to bootloader and enter your custom recovery from there.

Firmware won't wipe.
That said I believe by second option he meant SD card method. If he's s on he will likely need to reflash his roms kernel (boot.Img) via fastboot after unlocking again.
@hauntyu
Just pull the boot.img out of the zip of the rom you were running and flash that in fastboot mode after you unlock your bootloader again.
Which method would I use to flash the ruu or download because Im gpe and it says when I run the ruu its the wrong image.

You have to flash stock 4.4.4 recovery and then relock. Then you can either download it from the other thread where it's posted and manually flash it in recovery or do it the regular way through update.

Got it. How can I go about doing? I've never had to backtrack so I want to be cautious. Thanks for the help. Apparently I already have the OTA downloaded in a fumo folder. Must've downloaded over night.

Flash this stock 4.4.4 recovery...
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934552443
then fastboot oem lock
then update...
your rom you have right now must not have ANY modifications other than root or the update will fail (hotspot hack/sd card fix/etc).

Can I flash it with twrp? Or does it have to be through my computer?
The only mods i have are xposed. I'll uninstall them before I do anything.

You are gonna need to lock using your pc so your pc is required anyways. Make sure you back up your stuff before you unlock your boot loader again as it will factory reset your phone to do so.

S-on users will need to relock/lock bootloader before flashing.

I'm trying to get back to stock, but I'm S-On. Every thread I've seen (including this one) requires S-Off and I can't find instructions on how to relock the bootloader from S-On.
As I posted elsewhere, I've tried to run SunShine, but it won't work with LiquidSmooth. The couple of "stockish" ROMS I've flashed haven't worked and I've had to reflash my backup.

Flash a stockish Rom and then separately flash the stock boot.img from the 4.4.4 firmware zip. Sunshine will fail on any Rom that uses a non stock kernel. Even debug turned on in kernel will cause it to fail.
OK so then it should go something like this..
1. Connect phone to PC.
2. Move recovery file you linked to my android folder on PC where my fastboot files are.
3. fastboot flash stock recovery
4. fastboot oem lock
5. Reboot
6. Take ota.
Am I missing something?

So based off of what you have said:
-Your bootloader is still locked (you haven't said 100% for sure that you are unlocked)
-You may or may not be rooted as well (again, you haven't said if you are or are not)
-You want to run stock recovery, which is the recovery that Moto ships with the device, which is entirely useless for custom ROM flashing

Keep going with the guide. Go to the fastboot oem unlock step and go from there
