Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028 and download update.zip A. Follow instructions for method A update.zip and you will be good to go. Make sure you put it on the root of your Internal sd card, not external. It should look like sdcard/update.zip

You can use adb.

I was about to ask the same question. What has to be done in adb to unroot? I'm taking mine and the wife's phones in to complain about the call and signal issues, and just wanted to be safe.

You will have to mount rfs and rm busybox and su apk......etc. ill be at the house in a about an hour. I can send a link. But just search xda or Google I know its out there.

Can that be done in the stock recovery, or will I have to flash cwm to run adb?

Was able to unroot with Z4 root. But could not go back to root with that app. Had to flash su..... zip package in cwm recovery as usual to get root back. At least I have reliable and quick unroot. You may have trouble finding Z4 root as it is not on the market any longer. I had a backup copy. Am sure it can be found somewhere.

But as i tried to use root uninstall it came up my phone wasn't rooted. I even used root checker app and it said i dont have root access in my phone even though i definitely have superuser apk .
Android version: 2.3.5
baseband : XWKS2

Yes the rooting is the same and the link developweb gave you is the easiest instructions and it is how I rooted my I717r. However....
If after installing Recovery (cwm or twrp) and you reboot into recovery to install superuser you find out you still have stock recovery installed then you need to do an extra step. Depending on how your phone was updated there may be a script installed that restores the stock recovery. So after you install custom recovery remove your battery while it is rebooting. This will prevent the script from reinstalling stock recovery. Then boot into recovery yourself to install superuser.
Info about rooting the Canadian version is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775263
I rooted my I717r with ICS installed. I installed ICS using odin and the script was not on my phone. I believe if your phone was updated via OTA then it got the script. I have no idea if this script is carried over into jellybean or not.
Thanks a lot everyone
