All right, so i have managed to make a preliminary version of a fully automated rom porter.
anyone interested in trying it out and giving feedback?

this is the beta-ish version of the tool.

When drag the BASE ROM ZIP, i get the message:
Error:
Cannot find archive
Sorry, but an error occured
thats all
If rom or its path contains space remove it
Or Try some other zip
Or Move the rom into the folder romporter and try it again
If none of them work and if you still want to test it, extract the base and port to respective folders then goto scipt/step.txt open it and increment the value in it by 1.

Got the error now the tool u pm'ed me yesterday itself had a space in it's name...it was "rom porter"...changed it to "rom-porter" and now everything is working So noobish mistake by me Testing the rest :good:

The earlier one has a logical error in cm file it does not edit the build.prop file in cm.bat( it does but does not delete build.prop and rename new.prop to build.prop )
So could you try this one instead?

Another error.. While editing the build.prop when I write the build-id it says findstr is not operable.................or batch file What do u think the error cud be? Also one more thing when I extractd it by default the step was 9 so please fix it

About findstr, I don't know why it comes but when I ran it a second time, it went okay.

Except for updater-script, there's something wrong.
I'll try to find out when I have time and give a feedback

fixed findstr not found error
cannot find how to fix space in name so will have to live with it.
couldn't find what was wrong in the updater script, tried it twice with success. (no lag either)
Edit: fixed the error with spaces too, now have to find whats wrong with updater-script edit
can someone try the newer one and see if the error is gone or not?

The updater script still needs one more modification.

Hi guys. We all saw that racht tried to port HTC 2.1 and 2.2 ROMs for our X8s. Unfortunately a lot of things don't work, so now I'm tryin to set properly working X8 2.1 drivers to that 2.1 HTC rom (or maybe 2.2).
Next I will make files that you could restore through xRecovery, so i need testers for that.
I'll help than I can=)

Ok guys, thanks for answers but now I'm tryin to start phone with modifiyed drivers. 'Clean' system works good, but if i change anything, or try to paste any library from original X8 rom i can't boot it again.
So i'm still working on it. xRecovery helps me a lot
i did next............copy all apk files and libraries from original SE firmware, to the HTC 2.2 firmware. but after phone starts, and trying to unlock it, it show a critical error in android.phone and rebooting. may be it help you. i don't have much time for experiments, but i've got a tester. so may be enjoy our works here? post what you paste in you version, and i can post here what i am insert.

For guys who want to unpack and repack system files I'll post tutorial tommorow. Maybe sb will have lucky day.
It was hard to find way to extract system.img (linux file system) on Windows, but i found it with X10's dev help and a lot of googling(i was 100% noob, now maybe 98% xD). Same with repack it again.
And i'm not a dev, just noob who don't want to wait for others, and try to make sth.
And what more - htc widgets aren't working in X8 orig ROM - i tried it so stop asking.

i found something but it`s a flashable zip and it gives me a ERROR 0 STATUS at installation!
i tryed to install it with root explorer by copy/paste every file in system/app and /lib etc...
but it fc

Hi friends im having trouble writing the update-script for a flashable zip with deodexed system/app & system/framework. this is my first attempt at one. could anyone tell me where im going wrong please ive been trying all day with no luck. But its not for my ray its for my j theres not many devs to help me on the j forum.

There is no mount and unmout cmd's in the script..
Well iam on phone now...
Simple solution for u is to use any any existing mod's meta-inf folder in ur mod.

For example you need a command like

More set perms and mounting/unmounting system. Please check out a "real" updater-script :good:

well here what u did wrong...updater script was a txt file...and there was no updater binary script.
so next time use Notepad++ to edit these files..
here i only fixed everything...it should work now....

Thankyou so much for your efforts but its not flashing error status6 i looked it up and resigning fixes the problem but then it just aborts. i'll just forget about it i'm sure you all have better things to do than help silly nooby me lol. Thanks again.

thats where iv been trying to learn from but its not really explanatory enough for a noob. im just a factory worker lol not a dev all thought id love to be able to do all this. iv read other threds aswell but none of them said anything about the update binery either. i'm probably just not smart enough. i'll keep trying though

Try download some flashable zips and view updater scripts with notepad++
This is the best way to understand how it works.

delete extension
but the best way is open one of the updater-script (download any flashable zip) and edit with notepad++
(be sure you edit with notepad++ othervise you will see status6 error when flashing)
I found what is allegedly supposed to be the mysterious 4.1.B.1.13 update in the form of a flashable link removed. This is only for the Xperia Mini a.k.a. ST15i a.k.a. Smultron but could somebody (a dev maybe) please verify that this is the real mccoy?

Downloading, will check it out. Currently it seems somewhat lighter than the original one.
EDIT: On the first look, seems like Walkman and either Bravia Engine 2 or X-Reality are built in, though no modifications are made within the build.prop. All vital apps are there. For any further changes, you will need to install it and check it out. Or someone with the device, who is willing to test it out.

You will have to flash an ICS (stock) compatible kernel since this is a zip, not an ftf
