[Q] Xperia U wont fastboot - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi!! First I have search over google and dont find any solution, so sorry if someone has written it yet. I have a new xperia U maybe 1,2 month with bootloader unlock status: NO. I update to stock ICS firmware with the sony software (companion) Then I flash one kernel.elf, root the phone with the method of bin4ry. And then i flashed the stock kernel. Well at this point I have the phone rooted. I can do everything on phone but that stock firmware is too slow, hang up .... I want to flash one firmware from free xperia project. In order to install it I have to flash boot.img with fastboot mode. Here comes the trouble my device dont boot in fastboot mode. I think isnt driver problem I have installed drivers from tutorials but in device manager doesnt appear any new device (and I dont hear the sound that a new device has plugged in) To boot in flashmode no problem when sony logo press infinitely vol buttons. To boot in fastboot press vol up and then plug in usb cable. But only appears sony logo and then the battery charging. Some question i asked me is if have bootloader unlocked:NO i can run in fastboot mode? then I can root phone but cannot install custom rom? If not how can I boot into fastboot mode??
NOTE: I have cwm-touch 5.xxx
NOTE: I have donwloaded some CWM v6 I found on google and install it via install zip from sd card on my CWM and then the phone bricked! I have to use the restauration option from companion software.

Well first of all, you should unlock your bootloader........if you want to flash custom kernels.....and the fastboot part try searching on the general section....

Check this thread to see how you can unlock bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
In case you device's bootloader can't be unlocked, you can download some cwm for blocked bootloaders. You can find them on sony xperia u development thread.
The one you tried to install, from Free Xperia Projects, need an Unlocked bootloader.
For now, i think the best thing to do is install stock ics rom via flashtool and try to unlock the bootloader.

@ op
U cant install that rom by fxp
Ur bootloader cannot be unlocked
Bt u can use atis112's patch to install it on a locked bootloader
And bro u wont b able to flash any boot.img files on ur xu

[Q] Bootloader, dont understand

Hi,
I unlock bootloader in sony xperia u in official way throught sony. I have sony xperia U naturally, everything went good, i have unlocked bootloader but phone looks like without root rom manager, superuser and other apps say i havent got root, where can be mistake?
I unlocked bootlader from official B.3.184
Boot loader unlock doesn't give root?
Must be done yourself
Get a recovery
And flash kernel with auto root
Sent from a Galaxy far far away.
and this is other problem, i use recoverx to flash clockword mod recovery, it flash cwm and reboot phone, but i cannot go into recovery, i try push volume + button when phone is starting but nothing, i try reboot in recovery too in rom manager app but it writes "an error occurred while attempting to run privilileged commands....
I think it would be better if you flashed an auto rooting kernel, check the dev section for the U I think there may be one or two. If you would consider yourself a bit of a beginner check the Xperia S dev section and there's a great Info thread by DooMLoRD. I advise you read that as it'll answer all of your questions
yes i know that flash kernel with root should be best decision, but i cannot reboot into recovery, i think it can be problem with this new firmware which i describe below, no other solution i dont find. When i try unlock bootloader again it says that i have unlocked bootloader yet, but i cant flash older firmware, because phone still goes from flashmode after some seconds, i try it with sony pc companion, and with flashtool too, both cannot flash older firmware. So i have unlock bootloader but without root i cant flash older firmware and have no solution great one
flash a kerbel trough fastboot with fastboot flash boot kerbel.elf
Sent from my Xperia S using xda app-developers app
so finally have root acces, but can not go into recovery, try reboot from rom manager to recovery, unsuccesful, try press volume up button when phone is starting unsuccesful, i dont know when is problem still....

Help Bootloader Unlocked What next?

Hello,
I have unlocked my bootloader using official method on my neo v. It has Stock 2.3.4 GB with 4.0.2.A.0.69 version, So i cant root it. Now what should i do? i want to put pureness rom in my mobile. But i would need to install CWM for that and have to flash the kernel. So my question is if i flash knight elf kernel then would my stock GB boot up after that ? so that i can put CWM and make a backup of stock and then i can also install the Rom by CWM. What do i do?
Best thing you can do is read the sticky topics.......
All your questions are answered there, no need for this thread.

Before i started to mess with my phone, I read pages and pages, for few days. You just searched 1hour(based on time of your posts).
Put a bit effort and inform yourself.
Information is out there, convert it into knowledge.
Maybe its not written in custom kernels thread, since that's general knowledge, but 99.99% of custom kernels already have recovery.

They most definitely are but as your either too lazy or too stupid to find them I answered below.
All custom kernels include cwm, so you flash a gingerbread kernel to keep your existing rom, make your backup, then flash whatever takes your fancy and the appropriate kernel for whichever rom, there is no universal one.

just install a kernel using flashtool, some kernels already have cwm

Instead of taking the risk of flashing knight elf just hotboot it using fastboot! Type the command fastboot boot boot.img( the kernel name!)
Fastboot reboot
The kernel will be booted just once, so directly open the recovery n flash the rom !
P.s. I am not sure if ice cream Pureness can be flashed from gb! I think u first need to upgrade to stock ics....

First at all, if you unlock your bootloader you should know what you are doing. Unlocking bootloader is not like rooting, rooting can be easily undone, unlocking the bootloader not.
There is something you should know regarding to phones and computers: If you don't know what you are doing then DON'T DO IT.
There are plenty of topics about rooting and installing custom ROMs just read.
According to the pureness rom thread it even works on locked bootloaders.

No,
I answered your question correctly,
It appears you asked the wrong question!
If you want to get into recovery mode you keep pressing the back key (Or if that doesnt work the volume down key, or if that doesnt work keep pressing the screen) when you see the sony logo after turning the phone on.
Of course you must have installed a RECOVERY to do this.
Rooting is not the same as unlocking bootloader. You mean recovery mode and you probably mean you have rooted your phone and NOT that you have unlocked the bootloader

There is no factory recovery, you have to install it yourself.
Goto the sticky threads in the dev section and start to read,
First, download flashtool, found in the first sticky thread in the dev section.
Second, Install recovery via flashtool or by flashing a custom kernel (Which you can do if you have unlocked your bootloader and can get into fastboot mode)
Third, install pureness via recovery.
PS, if you have NEO V you dont need a custom kernel for pureness so you can install recovery via flashtool and then the rom, but if you have NEO then you need the alliance kernel which requires unlocked bootloader, fastboot and a PC

How to flash and which ROM? Xperia S.

I have an Xperia S and I want to flash a custom ROM.
What steps do I need to take?
Do I need to unlock bootloader, flash recovery and then flash custom ROM?
Which is currently the fastest/most stable Rom to use for Xperia S?
Cheers

U need to check if your Bootloader is Unlocked in case if you want to root your device. Dial *#*#7378423#*#*. Go over at service and check if the bootloader is unlocked or allowed.
There are mainly two different ways to install a custom rom. Through flashtool or through CWM. Go over at Xperia Development Section. You will find your answers, n00b tutorials and official/custom roms/firmwares.

Install the drivers first, then connect the phone. You don't need to have a device connected to install drivers.

Install the latest drivers for adb fastboot, u can find them on the 'Need to know first' thread. Then u can simply got to fastboot mode after flash installation and root your device/flash custom-stock kernels. :highfive:

I did that to but when I go to fastboot the LED will stay blue for like 10 seconds but then the phone will just re-boot... It wont stay on fastboot.
Fixed it... It was because USB debugging wasn't enabled. Would have been nice if that was mentioned in the bootloader unlocking thread lol.

first you Unlock the bootloader after that let your device boot first... once it boots power off it again, once you are done with it..... connect your device to latest flashtool in fastboot mode and flash the kernel you want thats it!!
*make sure that the kernel supports GB
* how to connect in fastboot mode??
Ans: Once your phone is switched off hold the volume Up button and connect the USB cable then the notification LED will glow Bluewhich means you are connected in fastboot mode
DONT forget to click thanks
This kernel is for GB!
So just flash kernel and turn on Your phone. No need to install ROM again.

how to install a stock rom....!! (new user)

I have a Xperia U --- OS :Android :- ICS 4.0.4 (stock)
(unroot & locked bootloader) build number :- 6.1.1.b.1.54 (stock)
kernel :- 3.0.8+.... (stock)
my phone not root or unlock the bootloader ,but i want to install a jellybean stock rom by DevSwift1 .I download the flashtool and install it and the drivers,i download the rom,how do i do next steps,i found that i can`t root my phone via flash tool with this firmware(6.1.1.b.1.54 ) it said i have to flash a 6.1.1.b.1.10 kermel to root, and rom install instruction said flash another kernel to install the rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2326515) .
1) how do i install the CWM recovery,i saw that Xperia u not support the rom mannager app. ?
2) is this [Kernel][Dec 04]Experimental v11a[JB 4.1.2] kernel pre install the cwm recovery ?
3)can i back up my current rom nad stock recovery how ?
4)your thoughts about devswift 1 rom ,i mean is it bug free and stable rom ?
5)tell me how to flash the rom ?
first answer my quetion (please put the numbers) secondly I need step by step, stock rom install guide from root to flash the rom....and don`t tell me just flash, pleas explain it futher,i mean bit more, this is my first time in xda and flashing a rom.(i got the boot unlock key)
guide it should be like this(IT easy to understand)
Eg:-
1)step, Root
> ***********
> ************
2)step, unlock boot loader
> ************
first of all choose a kernel and download it
second unlock your bootloader
after that install zip from sd card
finally choose devswift1 rom if you have problems with those pm me
you will get used to it and install every rom you like
i hope so
Prerequisite: go and unlock your boot loader. By unlocking your boot loader it saves you a lot of time in the future when you're flashing Roms since it will allow you to flash a custom kernel.
1) don't use ROM manager. CWM recovery is built into all custom kernels.
2) look at 1).
3) recovery is built into the kernel. backup can be done through CWM, it is pretty obvious once you are in there (volume for navigation, power for select)
4) I am ex-sony user but I've never touched this ROM but honestly everybody's opinion of a ROM will be different so try out different ones and to you see which is the most bug free and stable. To me I do not care about stuff like WiFi or HDMI because I never use it, but to some people it might be a major problem. So its a bit subjective.
5) instructions are included in the OP. Follow it VERY strictly (remember to flash the kernel, and remember to wipe before installing)

The link to the ROM is broken, fix it.
If it's a stock rom you do not need to unlock bootloader just flash stock kernel as said root and install recovery.
So you want to install devswift jb?
Step 1
Unlock your boot loader at http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com
Follow the instructions there and unlock it.
Step 2
Download a kernel that includes cwm recovery.
Step 3
Download devswift jb
Step 4
Boot into recovery
Step 5

OK so you first of all, unlock your bootloader.
Then, you visit the devswift's jb thread, download the ROM and the kernel he asked you to flash.
Next, you flash the kernel via fastboot. Now, you boot into recovery and flash the ROM which is now supposed to be in your SD card.
Now you wipe data, cache and dalvik. Then, you flash the ROM. Next you reboot and let it settle.
Actually after unlocking the bootloader you can just follow devswift's instructions and nothing will go wrong.

hey man, you can unlock your bootloader in a simple step, you don't need to install tha sdk to your laptop or pc
you said that you already have a flashtool, and downloaded and installed drivers
note that if you unlock your bootloader the files will be gone (as in all file on phone and internal)
follow this step:
1. go to this site and get the code http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ (click "start unlocking the boot loader", then click "continue", click "yes i'm sure", check the boxes and click "i accept", enter your name, imei (note: remove the last digit coz its only need 14 digits), enter your email, and later on they will send you for the unlock key, save it safely)
2. open flashtool, connect your device in usb debugging mode, check it on the settings
3. click the BLU at the top at the right of the flashicon
4. later it will ask you to disconnect your device, and power off it
5 reconnect your devicein the usb cable in FLASHMODE. (hold the volume down button while connecting to usb cable)
5. Againconnectt your phone in FASTBOOT mode. (hold volume up while connecting to usb cable)
6. It will prompt a window with your IMEI number, insert your unlock key and click "unlock".
wait to finish and reboot it's done, hope i help you :good:
