[Q] Message app crashing - HTC One X+

Hi my friend has a non rooted UK Vodafone CID HOX+.
Quite often when he opens the messaging app it crashes. I know on rooted you can just clear the dalvik, but he has no intention to root.
Is there any way this can be sorted?

He could try re-flashing the rom if he does not want to root. Only other choice as far as I can see.

Ah slightly annoying, thought you needed root to do flashing of any kind? He could wait for the Sense 5 update to fix too? And what causes problems like these?
I am a One X user so there might be slight differences.

Just do a factory reset or clear the messaging app data. Sounds like too many texts

Thanks. I have told him, hope this works as i don't think he is willing to do any resetting.

As stated above app clearing data via settings>apps>all>messages>clear data should resolve the problem. If not factory reset & lastly return for a refund or replacement.

Brill glad to get him off you're back

1.22.651.3 Issues?

My dad has updated his evo to the 1.22.651.3 update. And now the phone randomly reboots and locks up all the time. He can't ever get the navigation to work for him either(its locks up and force closes). Is anybody else experiencing these issues too? Also whenever it locks up and unfreezes itself he has to reboot the phone to get data services back. If he gets a replacement will it have the same update? Could I just ruu back to the shipped rom?

I would say back everything up and do a hard reset. I've seen a lot of issues get cleared up like that. I would reccomend against getting a replacement unless you have to.
Yeah, if hard reset doesn't work, I would think it's a defective unit. I've had zero problems with update.
(I'm still stock)
Thanks for all of the advice I think I'm just going to try a hard reset. I really like his evo. Might be leaving att and my vivid for one of these soon. They're great phones.

2 minute lag delays and constant freezing :/

Hey everyone,
So my girlfriend just got the LTE about 2 weeks ago, and now there is a real problem. I rooted it for her with s-off and flashed the stock/liquidsmooth rom. Everything has been running extremely smooth and great until today. The phone was in her pocket while we were out and when she pulled it out of her pocket and tried to unlock it, the phone was lagging really bad like a 15 second lag delay on everything and kept freezing. I tried wiping everything and reflashing the rom 2 or 3 times and its still doing the same thing. I'm very "flash savvy" and have quite a bit of android experience. When I push the power button to unlock the phone, the 3 bottom lights will just light up with the screen still black for about 2 minutes until it will light up and work semi smoothly.
Nothing was working so I try flashing another rom from the dev section and the same thing is still happening. I dont want to have to unroot it and take it into Sprint, so any help is greatly appreciated.
Anyone?

No need to unroot - Sprint treats rooted phones the same as non-rooted phones now. There's clearly something severely wrong with the phone if you've wiped and flashed multiple times. Maybe run the RUU? If not, go to Sprint.

The bootloader is unlocked, and I can't for the life of me get it to relock. EVERY method I've tried doesn't work for me. Will they take it even with the unlocked/tampered bootloader?
Well I've got the phone to work a little better...But everytime I lock the phone and try to unlock it, it won't respond for about 2 minutes. And it keeps saying "process system is not responding" or sometimes "process com.android.phone is not responding". I've tried fixing permissions and partition SD card. Guess I'm taking it to sprint.
I am pretty sure you can get it repaired or replaced regardless of the bootloader status. Search the General section or the Q&A section. I guarantee it has been discussed, I just don't remember the answer.

What is your wiping process? You said everything but can you be specific? What rom did you flash? Is your recovery updated? Did you check md5 of the rom?

Correct, as long as one has total equipment protection
If a store gives issues on it just ask them to look it up in policy.
OP
You tried re flashing that Rom and wipes but have you tried a different Rom?

I wiped cache, dalvik, system, factory data. The usual. And tried flashing 5 roms - stock with goodies(the latest one and an older one), miklatte, meanrom, and a stock rooted rom. Tried fixing permissions on all of them too. I tried 2 different kernels and reflashed the radio aswell but no luck.
I took it into sprint today and they wanted to keep it overnight lol, so I will findout in the morning.
Still blows my mind how the phone went from working so great and then 5 minutes later it was completely unresponsive.

Navigation crashing

So I reset my phone to 1.22.651.3 and didn't take OTA yet because I need to re-lock bootloader and whatevs, but whenever I use my navigation via google, the thing crashes after a couple of minutes. Anyone else have this problem? anybody have a solution? did this get fixed for you via the update?
Yes, I'm having serious crashing problem s too. And I'm on a long trip, so this real ly sucks. Seems to happen when getting a poor signal. Like switching back-n-forth from Sprint and roaming

Clear the cache for maps and reboot
That seems to have fixed it!

HELP: No Service!

I recently installed Carbon onto my XT912. It was a clean install, and no problems occurred. Just today however, my phone is now showing no service when I load to system 2 (where I installed Carbon). When I load to System 1 I have full service. If someone could point me in the right direction for troubleshooting I would greatly appreciate it.
Could be a bad flash or. Something is interrupting your service try reinstalling again and see if it helps let. Me know

Everything was working fine until one day when I was low on battery and out of Data. I decided to only use 2G networks to both save battery and not use data. After that day I unchecked that box yet it still says that it's searching for service. Is there a solution without having to re-flash my ROM? I don't want to lose all my text messages and such.
Also, I get this blue triangle now above my cell status. What's up with that?

There are apps to backup texts. A flash could help i guess.

Titanium backup and HTC One M8 (AT&T) ?

What do I need to freeze to stop OTA updates?
Looking into it now.

I *think* you disable "HTC DM" and clear the data of "HtcDm" on the phone. I did this and haven't received an update notification since.
On past HTC devices (like my old One X EVITA) it was "updater". Not sure if its the same on the M8, since I flashed a custom ROM a day after buying the phone.

Wish I had seen this yesterday. I swear I didn't hit "update" because I wanted to root and s-off first. Somehow even though I had been hitting the delay option, it still updated. Took it out of my pocket once I got home and it had already re-booted and was installing the update... I was lame but thankfully I was still able to root, install recovery, s-off, and disable the "tampered" text in the bootloader. So it all worked out. I still am going to disable the OTA updater, don't want to have that happen again.

Yep. It does. You're welcome. Also, I enabled "HTC DM" and checked for updates...at first check, it says there are no new updates. Then I rebooted and I guess you can wait the 24 hrs like it asks or set your phone clock ahead 24 hrs, but I waited, and rechecked for updates and it redownloaded the update and flashed it with no problems.
