When I receive a file attachment, I can't open it or do anything with it because my phone says it isn't associated with any program. How do I fix that?

[Q] Renaming APKs

I usually download my apks in my computer and send them to my phone so I could archive them or send them to friends easily. The problem is, their file names are very long and hard to read in the phone. If I rename the apk files, would it affect installation-wise, ie it will install as another 'version' of that app. So let say if i installed a renamed apk and update it with another version of the same app, would it interfere?

Why can I not attach a .docx file to gmail mail?

I'm guessing this is a known issue? Android 4.1.1. stock.
When I try to attach a .docx file from within the gmail app, I get a "file size to large" error and it does not attach. (it's 30kb)
If however use a file manager like ASTRO to "share" the file with gmail it attaches to a new blank email correctly.
Is this logged? Or is there something obvious I'm missing. Thanks

Can't delete a file

Weird problem. Copied an Apk file from /data/app to /sdcard so I could transfer to my pc. Didn't show up on my pc connection, shows up on androids file browser. Now I can't delete it, tried three different file browsers. Can't rename it, move it, etc. Under file details it says md5 is not found.
Anyone got any ideas?

Samsung File Browser... open .txt and .log files with a text file editor

If I click to open a .txt file or .log file in Samsung File Browser (or any file management app)... the Android OS says that there are no apps associated with these files extensions; and, opens Google Play store; which is not useful.
What do I need to do in order to automatically open an app of my choice, such as QuickEdit+ when I click on a .txt or .log file in File management apps such as Samsung File Browser?
On Windows OS, its very easy, I can tell what apps to automatically open when clicking on a file type. I just want to be able to do the same.
Thanks in advance!
i can usually just select the text file and then select open with then select the editor. most times that choice is kept for all text files but at times it might ask which app or if for one time or always.
