---------- Post added at 06:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:17 PM ----------
when you have root you must push per ADB the right framework... when the tablet in Bootloop - your tablet is detected during the boot loops via ADB?

Aha, glad (not really) that I wasn't the only one that wishing to make XTS more like XTZ got stuck on animation boot. I wiped the data and nothing happened, still stuck. I can enter recovery and the my PC recognizes ADB when I'm in recovery mode but I can't initiate adb shell. Here is my recovery log.

Oh no There's nothing I can do? It's so easy on Sony mobile phones by simply using PC Companion.

You need to be VERY careful when modifying the framework. You can't just replace it.
This is why some companies purposely block root solutions.

I know but I thought it would do any harm to try the bootanimation file. I did it no my X10 mini pro and the only thing I got was a black screen during the bootanimation and then it booted normally. I just don't get why it didn't happen on XTS. Isn't there a way or a file I can flash that downgrades the version so I can flash the last official JB firmware once again? If it doesn't allow to re-install the same firmware how does the factory reset (on the settings menu) works?

I had no issue with replacing to boot animation.
Did you set the correct permission?
Always ask if your not sure.

Either wait for a new update, shouldn't be far as they had lots in a row for XTS on ICS. Or take it in for a warranty claim and say that it did not boot after installing the latest update

Alright stifilz, will do. Really hope they release an update soon since it's already passed almost a month since JB update. Thanks for all the help :highfive:

why can not push the right Framework via ADB from local and overwrite the wrong framework?

Is this to me? I can't do nothing on adb apart from pushing the recovery.log. PC only recognizes the XTS as adb when I enter recovery (when stock on sony screen it is recognized as MTP device) and it doesn't let me push nothing from the tablet If you have more sugestions please feel free to share them

By "doesn't let me push" what do you means? What error message do you get?
You first need to give ADB su permissions.

So in recovery mode you will reach no SU rights - I just tried it out ... there is an "error: closed" .... hmm very bad - Unfortunately you can not update too - the solution would, however, from the 4.1.1. update-zip adapt the version in this Vendor0 and Vendor1 and would buildprob higher ... but since you would have to ask Condi times if you could modify the - in retrospect, one could adapt yes again .. that would be a solution

Yep, it's exactly this. I just get this "error: closed", grrr. And where is Condi? Is he on honeymoon still?

If you would have done a ruscue backdoor with condis tool would you still be screwed or would have that saved you?

Where is Condi? Does anyone know? I'm thinking... isn't there a way someone can create a flashable file that automatically changes the bootanimation.zip for the original/right one since that is what causes my tablet not to boot properly?

Condi is back, fixing everyone's Tablets. As bootloader is locked there is noway to create a zip as we CAN NOT sign them, only SONY can do that. You will have to wait for a new release for your tablet to install that. Rescue back-door should be installed before changing system files. This is why Sony patches root exploits.
Option 2 take it in for a warranty claim, say the new update messed up your tab, chances are they won't look for tamper. Well they didn't with me anyway.

[Q] Sony Tablet S not updating to ICS after failed root

I recently tried to flash pre rooted ICS to my device but something went wrong and I ended up with 3.2.1 kernel 10 anyway I just wanted to put ICS on it regardless of root. I tried to update from OTA and SD but im getting an error code #7 after fail and flashing. I have a feeling it has something to do with the incremental value being messed up or something. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Please use adb pull /tmp
After trying to flash the rom, then copy the recovery.log and post here and we can help.

It is UK I am sure as I bought it from the promotion launch here..
I am not alone with my problem ... Have the same error
Could we backup our files (apps etc.), make a factory reset and then try to update? Does someone know if this could help?
Best regards

Did anyone find a solution for the code seven error? Does a factory reset help? Or what is about factory formatting, would that help if reset doesn't work?
Any held is appreciated!

sometimes 27550199 is being used temporarly to get hack work
very easy solution - if you have 27550199 in recovery,
just download this 4.0.3 R1A, flash it, root it with AiO v5.0, and change region to which you want

Stock recovery rescue Xperia Tab S

From what I have read, you can re flash the same version of firmware you have should you get in trouble if some changes are made to vendor . prop. Does anyone know what exact changes need to be made to vendor . prop? I Also, is vendor . prop the only file that needs to be changed?
I want to safeguard myself in case I run into a boot loop or something so that I may re flash if need be.

Can't remeber exactly. But on the org Tab S there is four lines and it is the bottom one. It says invremental in it. All you have to change is that value by -1.
Or to be extra safe. Decrease it to an even lower number i.e lower than say R4 or R5.
This way you could flash R4, R5, R6 (providing you have the R4 update... no longer on server.)
You will now probably get system updates messages.... this can get annoying, to fix this navigate to /system/app/ and rename automagic.apk to automagic.apk.bak and reboot
Stifilz
Hey thanks. I tried it but when I do a test it will not flash. Not sure where to go now. I have attached my vendor.prop.

Last line needs to be 120829013 as update is 120829014.
Needs to be lower? Also that is r4....
If install does not work again then please use 'adb pull /tmp' after trying to instal and post your recovery.log
Stifilz
Sorry. I should have mentioned I am on r5 currently. I so I edited that line to be r4. I was going to re flash r5 as a test. I'll post my recovery.log in a bit. Thanks for the help.

Nope. The only other way is the legendary installer files. These may be out only hope. I am working on getting one but still waiting on that one.

Sony Tablet S1 bricked

Hello

When you rooted did you rescue backdoor if so then try an offical update from stifliz sticky post or his sig
There is a distinct possibility that you might have boned the tablet but that being said try using the flasher and flash twice and pull a recovery log
rooted lighting wildfire on unoffical j.b from benni
and sony XTS rooted stock j.b thanks djrbliss

So when you say it worked the first time did it install all the way or throw up an error
It seems that you might need to push a symlink but im not sure check other posts about bricking for the syslink other people have had a problem like that IM NOT SAYING THIS IS THE PROBLEM YOUR HAVING just a possibility
You used the flasher or just from the sd card with offical zip/update from sony?
If you haven't done a recscue backdoor then you might be knackered

I did rescue backdoor
Ok i somehow managed it to boot :victory: but im not shure how...
Shuld i do anything else so that it dosent happen again?
Ok its booting if your going to root again do the backdoor again this is what saved you this time
For the recovery always use the offical sony zips that's all the advice I can give you really
This tab does not like to be messed with and being locked out of the recovery means that we cant flash anything we like unlike most android devices where the manufacturer has give some leway

Can you please try to install any firmware twice and pull the recovery log.. As for drivers that is a windows8 issue. It can work but is a pain in the butt. I reverted back to win7 because of crap like that. Anyway if you can get us a recovery.log that would be helpfull. See my sig link for FAQ and that will tell you how to set up adb and pull the file. Also try the r5a driver (see faq for link) don't forget to disable driver verification.
Best of luck.
Stifilz
Thanks !
but I dunt know how to get recovery log , I installed twice from SD card still can not get recovery log ......
really sorry !

adb pull /tmp/recovery.log
You will need the drivers to work properly on you pc first.
If you are not sure how to use adb then read the top of my FAQ or google.
Thanks

Ok by the looks of it. It first fails as the US incremental 036 is lower than your previous region 084? Then it tries the other partition and fails because vendor is messed up. If you receive an new update you can flash. Try something higher than 084 but it will prob fail due to region SKU check
