Have an O2 branded S2, how do I revert to normal stock?

Hi, I just got a new Galaxy S2 but it is locked to O2 and is O2 firmware branded.
I don't mind wiping all data (since there's nothing on it yet), but is there a way I can change the firmware to the original Galaxy S2 firmware?
Or what is fastest?
I don't like all the preinstalled junk that has come with the phone, I'm not bothered about unlocking it since I'm using O2 anyway.

Flash a uk rom from here. I'm personally using KH3 with XEU CSC
Locked then you need to get it unlocked .
Debrand O2 in Dev section as well .

Do I need to unlock it before I put the stock firmware on?
To unlock you need to root (use cf-root) then download chainfires unlock app from the market (may not work on newer sgs2's due to them being more secure)
You dont need to be rooted or unlocked to flash a newer stock firmware, there is a fully guide and list of firmwares to download from this thread, using any firmware from there will debrand the phone, try KG6 (older) or KH3 (newer) both are good 2.3.4 roms.

Flashing At&T S3 with unbranded firmware

Hi,
I currently have a samsung galaxy s3 branded on at&t running on 4.1.1 (model: SGH - 1747)
However, it does not have chinese language on it and I need to have it installed. After searching the web, it seems the only way is to flash a firmware over it. How do I do this?
I had downloaded Odin and a Unbranded firmware. However I'm not sure if the firmware is right for it. I9300XXDLJ4
If I flash this firmware over my existing at&t branded on, would it work ? Or will the phone not work anymore?
Thank you.
It's urgent.

Frankly, I think that's impossible. I have a Galaxy SIII GT-I9308, which is customed for CHINA MOBILE. When I flash XXELLA and replaced the modem.bin, it seems to be bricked....
DON'T FLASH IT!
You don't have an international i9300 do you! So don't flash it or you will possibly end up with a paperweight

[Q] GT i9100 from Claro to ???

Hi,
I am not brand new and have usually been able to find what I need on my own. This time it's not so easy.
I bought a GT i9100 from EBAY. It had a broken lcd. I replaced it, turned it on and noticed it had CLARO version of ANDROID. So I flashed with Odin to an official GT i9100 ROM from SAMMOBILE that I have used on many GT i9100's. Then I connected to KEIS(KIES) and was notified of a firmware update which put me on 4.1.2 baseband I9100xxms2. BUT it is sim locked??? I thought these were International versions with no locking?? I know I could probably use GALAXSIMUNLOCK which I used once before but would rather try to complete the FLASH to International version if my understanding of that is correct.
Does anyone know of a ROM/KERNEL that would achieve this?
Thanks, Steve
Claro's firmware are all branded and it's devices are all network locked to any carrier but claro (obviously).
Hence you need to root it and unlock it, you can do this with any firmware, stock or custom.
And stay away from kies, use odin.

[Q] Changing device from i9100BVLPJ to i9100NELS1

Hi all,
I have two Galaxy S2 devices. One which is on tmobile UK that has a baseband i9100BVLPJ and one which is on 3 UK that has a baseband of i9100NELS1.
The tmobile device is on ICS with no official jellybean out yet where as the 3 UK device has jellybean that came out quite a while ago.
Is there anyway of changing the baseband versions so that the tmobile device will be seen as a 3 device and therefore be able to receive official jellybean?
I would rather try and stick to the offical ROM then go down the custom ROM route. If it is possible to change the devices identity over would that mean it would get a new sim lock? Also would the device then receive future 3 UK updates (assuming there Re any in the future).
Many thanks

Flash 4.1.2 to it with Odin. If not wait.

So I can flash and both devices will be identical? Do I need to Root the device or simply flash over? Will there be any problems with simlock?
Flash unbranded firmware mate or galaxy Sim unlock from play store before you do. Test dif Sim if you flash unbranded it wont have lock
Root not needed for unbranded

[Q] Which kernel do I use to root Vodafone UK 4.1.2 firmware?

I have an S2 which I bought from Vodafone UK. It is running stock Android 4.1.2. I have had the phone unlocked by Vodafone themselves. I'm confused as to which kernel to use for rooting: the Siyah one or the Jeboo one because my phone has Vodafone UK firmware and I have included screenshots with all the details. Do I have to flash firmware that hasn't been modifed by Vodafone, or can I use one of the two kernels on the Vodafone UK firmware? I don't want to risk bricking it...

The firmware is not important. I would recommend Philz kernel by @Phil3759 to root as it still being developed and.....its just the best, you wont hear too many people saying anything negative about it.

In particular read post #3, but have a good read of all the first few posts for more info.
