What do you guys think about this? And do you think you will be getting it if it comes out in the US?
http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57533910-94/htc-j-butterfly-5-inch-smartphone-destined-for-japan/
Also do you think it will be popular or less popular like what happened to the rezound?
I personally might get it off of ebay if it turns out to be close to as popular as the HOX
With the name butterfly, no it will not be as popular as the one x lol Hopefully its made for chicks because I refuse to buy a phone with that name

Well it is aimed toward Japan currently so if it did come to the US they may change the name to something better. The only reason i would want it is because the specs from what ive seen are better then the specs of the HOX+ which is supposed to be coming out in the US.

I think they might be the same phone if you compare the pic from the like in that thread compared to the pic from the link
Edit: Actually they might be the same phone however the J Butterfly is the Japan variant and the DLX is the US variant. That could be a possibility?
It is the same phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1900113
Its not the same phone. The hboot on the j butterfly states it as the DLX_J. On the ADR6450 the code name is just DLX. So the butterfly is just a varient. That's why HTC stated that phone would not be released in the US and that a similar one would, more then likely the ADR6450.

I won't be buying it. Awesome phone but a battery that small just won't cut it. And it's a 1080p screen so I'm gonna say that battery will be gone with less than an hour of screen time.

The Razr Maxx HD is coming with a 3300 mah battery. If HTC plans on putting a 2500mah battery mixed with that 5 inch display, expect battery life to be horrid. I hope they up the battery, that device looks very promising and it would be a shame for them to ruin it with something so simple.
Edit: Also just read that it's rumored to have a non-removable battery. The new Snapdragon S4 pro it comes equipped with does sound great tho.

At least the S4 Pro shouldn't have any problems handling 4g as far as battery life is concerned. The battery size is honestly the only deal breaker.
Samsung Galaxy S3
As long as the battery can last me threw my 16hour day its all good with me. My thunderbolt has no problem doing that and neither did my rezound. I'm sure the s4 will only help. 2500 is still huge compared to the 1400 and 1650 we got before. Stop wining.

Hi all. Engadget has just released their review of One X+. Just wanted to share.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/31/htc-one-x-plus-review/
They basically say;
- Sense has improved and runs a bit smoother.
- Front camera has drastically improved.
- Battery life is same as One X.
- There is only one color option which is black matte.
- Photo and video quality is same as One X and they think it lags behind the competition.
- The processor is faster and it shows itself in real world usage.
- Camera lens is still prone to scratch.
- Taking photos is even faster.
- Volume is significantly higher with Beats Audio enabled.
and so on...
So basically not really worth upgrading once the one x receives jelly bean?

It's a personal preference. It brings faster performance, 64 GB storage, probably less problematic hardware than One X (remember wifi, screen problems of One X) and more.. They just say if it was using S4 Pro it would have had better battery life but still it's a lovely phone.

I would buy One X or One X+ only if I like Sense. Well, I do but I couldn't buy One X since it had hardware issues when I was looking for. Maybe HTC solved these issues, we will see but right now if I had a solid One X without problems, I wouldn't buy One X+. If I had GS3, I would still buy it because missed Sense as I'm using GN right now.

I love my DNA but in your situation, I'd take the One without hesitation. Although our support is good (to me) the One will get wayyyy more support due to the widespread release and availability. Personally, I'd do it just for those two b*tchin-azz speakers
I have the Droid DNA and played with the One side by side at the announcement a couple weeks ago. The One has alittle more weight to it. The design of the phone is incredible though. The dual front speakers, etc. And you know they will support the One and delay on the other devices as usual. If you trying to get on VZW though I dont think its coming for them. Right now Tmob, Sprint and ATT.
Its the same phone. Depends on what you like to look at.

If you're referring to the new HTC One, if i'm not mistaken about its name, then it would probably be the better choice to pick that because it's 'slightly' better. Not to mention global and will probably give you a little more support.
Although if you had to pay more or wait / do anything special for it. DNA would be my choice, they're both so great that it doesn't really make a difference anymore. Storage could be an issue with some people, but not in my case.
There is only ONE answer

Go for the HTC One, it will get more ROM support for a longer time, has improved in every aspect over the DNA, and is HTC's only flagship for 2013, or so they say. The DNA may not go beyond sense 5, while the One will surely go beyond

Yup, and I really don't remember many devs leaving the One X to go to the SG3. Maybe a couple, but we still have many of the same awesome devs we had at the start, and then more that came on later. Possibly due to the price of the device dropping over time, and getting into the hands of more devs.
Will a more popular device have more devs and more ROMs? Sure. But as long as you have "enough" development, who really cares about the actual number of ROMs?
The performance specs of the 2 phones are very similar, but the One is obviously the better piece of hardware from an exterior "industrial design" standpoint. The SGS4 is just a rehash of Sammy's cheap plastic casing design. Devs aren't going to ignore that.
This is a flagship phone and it's coming out on multiple carriers.
You can bet there's going to be support. It's not like one of HTC's throwaway phones like the Rezound or the Sensation.

I would expect development for the One to be better than the already-great development for the One XL, because my understanding is that the international One and the LTE One are identical - at least development-wise as opposed to the One X, which had a community split between the Tegra 3-based One X and the S4-based One XL. It's also a really good sign that a couple of kernel sources for the HTC One are already available as-of last night.
The only real question is whether or not the AT&T HTC One will be rootable/bootloader unlockable.

Yeah I asked Torxx in the Trickdroid thread about this and he said that his rom should flash on this phone. I've also read that there's virtually no difference between any of the One's except for network bands supported for different carriers/regions which has no effect on rom flashability. Just enter in your correct APN for your carrier and away u go
I believe there will have support very soon

Yeah it is sad to see, but Samsung is a monster when it comes to marketing budgets they had a slim chance to compete. I hope they pull through and continue pushing samsung and other Android devices to their limits. I have high hopes for this company
I also worry that articles like this will only hurt... people who are on the fence will read that and go with Samsung...

Agreed. I've always had good experiences with call and signal quality with Nokia, from the 6820 and other TDMA phones back in the late 90s and early 00s to the Symbian-based stuff from a while back. If they put some quality Android-based phones together and offered them with a decent custom interface (like Sense) and unlocked, I think they'd make a pretty strong showing.

Ha, I have its big brother the Nokia 6800. That's not a typo, I still have it right here on my desk
I couldn't help but thinking that I have this power to kill phone manufacturers.
My first cell phone back in the mid 90s was the Siemens S3+ and then briefly the S4 (I bet not a lot of people here even know that Siemens used to make cell phones).
After that, I had a couple of Ericsson phones, the GH 337 and the GF 788 (you know how that story ends, they were swallowed by Sony, and then dumped).
Right after that, I became a huge Nokia + Symbian fanboy, the 6800, 6620, N80, E51, E63, E75 (and look at what happened to Nokia and Symbian).
Then three years ago I bought a Dell Streak (the first android phone with 5" screen that nobody really knows about. the following year, Dell stopped making phones).
Finally last week I got myself an HTC One. Look out HTC!!

I mostly agree with your statement, but I believe it will take more than one flagship to get them turned around and charging towards the front. Maybe after 1 or 2 more flagship they will really be doing well. I just can't see one phone having enough time to turn an entire company around. Especially after they bombed out hard with the HTC First. That was a huge mistake for them to try and even sell that phone.

It means that there will be a vanilla htc one or one like device and because of that the devs will (hopefully) be able to make aosp/aokp roms with very few to no bugs at all. Basically it's makes the job easier for the devs and the experience better for us.

Ever since I switched to Android, all I had were Samsungs...this is my first HTC android device and Im loving it so far. So to read articles about HTC and the tough times they're having is saddening. Samsung is the Apple of androids...the galaxy line is well known which is both bad and good. I really hope the HTC One can and will save this company because we need beautiful phones in the variety of androids. I like having choices!

The HTC One is selling well. From here on out they should be fine.
If not Samsung will probably buy them out and HTC can design the phone while Samsung focuses on the guts.

Well lets hope that doesn't happen. We need both company and not just one.

Idk about all of you but I see a heck of a lot of S4s on Craigslist and not too many HTC Ones. Craigslist has been a great indicator for me in the past. I got this one for a note 2 and am glad I got out of Samsung when it is where I believe is at the top before a fall.
