I'm trying to set up my girlfriends S3, but I have an issue.
When on stock rom, I can see the titanium backup folder with all the backups. In fact all the folders are there, SMS backups, images etc.
Since going to Cm10.1, the folders are gone. I used droid explorer to see if I've missed it. I made a folder in Cm10 called tester.
It appears 3 times now. And I have no idea where all my other files are. It's like it's blank.
But, if I restore back to stock, it's all there. Annoying.
I only installed 1 custom ROM. From what I know, you have to wipe your phone completely before the flashing process. I have smooth ROM installed on my nexus 7, works perfectly!
So I THINK if you want to install a custom ROM the right way, you have to wipe anyway..
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
The thing is, this worked before. I had a slight problem finding the files, but I have installed CM before on this, and never had this issue.
I could copy the files to my PC, wipe the phone and copy them back, but if I have to restore to the stock backup I made, it's going to break a lot of things surely?
Guys, seriously - this is asked every day.

Not really as it was across several posts, which was why I had to link to the page.
However, I have created a thread to make it easier for me to link people to, as it's a common occurrence

It worked great. But there is one issue. Titanium backup works great, but if I connect my phone to PC, the storage is the blank set of folders. Gallery cannot find any pictures either. I've followed the instructions to the letter.
If I open File Manager, it shows me the 0 directory full of my files as it should, but on my PC or in the gallery it finds nothing but empty folders.
Try wiping data on the gallery app, in case something was restored from titanium perhaps.
I don't connect to a Windows PC regularly myself, so I'm not sure about that one. Have you rebooted since?

Wiping gallery data did the trick, thanks. Not sure why connecting to the pc shows empty folders.
It means I Can't save my camera photos, or add new roms to install in the future. Most puzzling.
Have you rebooted?
Infact reboot the PC too, whilst not connected to each other.
Sorry, yes I have. In fact, going into recovery after following the instructions and my backups are no there. Or rather "no files found". Using CWM Recovery v6. I've also lost my sms backup files. I can't even go back to stock if I wanted to.

As per my other thread, some recoveries still use the old location /data/media (which is really poor from those recoveries). To be clear, this is the recoveries fault for not keeping up with the times.
If you needed to restore from one of those recoveries, you would need to move the clockworkmod folder back. Or you could flash Philz recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002953
...which has a toggle to change to /data/media/0 to pick up 4.2 locations.
So to be clear, you have not lost anything. Everything is there. I don't know what sms backup app you have, but everything should just work. The apps all look for /sdcard (so they don't need to know if it is /data/media or /data/media/0) so as long as your data is in the right place, there shouldn't be an issue.
Some of these issues you're having (forgetting recovery) could be a result of a titanium backup restore. Perhaps you need to wipe the device from recovery and get things working without data that could be skewing the truth

Ive been spending way to much time researching my problem and my wife is really mad at me. Basically at this point i would be happy to just manually extract data for about 10 apps from a nandroid that wont restore. Can someone point me in the right direction please?
Edit:
Ok, now that I am at computer, heres my story. Prior to flashing the gingerbread leak, I backed up using Titanium Backup and made a Nandroid backup. Somehow, all the files backed up in my PREVIOUS 2 backups on titanium backup where all 0kb-10kb, so they were completely borked for some reason. Some old backups of apps that I have since uninstalled still remained and those seem ok.
Prior to reading about the SD card failures with the gingerbread leak, I backed up my SD card to my computer. Only 1 error came up during the backup about a file with a name that was too long. I clicked on ignore and finished the backup. About 1 hour later my SD card fried.
I used a spare sd card, and transfered my clockwork mod folder and a few other folders to it. I then ODIN a DL09 stock image, flashed the newest Clockword mod 3.xx via odin, flashed UKB 2.0, then flashed PBJ -50 recovery/kernel (which was what I had when I made the backup) and tried to restore it. When I try to restore it hangs somewhere in the data restore portion saying CACHE. I saw it flash cache a few times during the restore, so I am not sure why it hangs on that one in particular. I know that the cache image file is only 16.5kb so I dont know if that has something to do with it.
I then installed the newest IMNUTS recovery since I heard there were problems restoring the the PBJ recovery, and it seems to hang in the same spot.
At this point, I have a few of my old programs back, but most force close.
My main goal here is to just extract some gamesave progress and a few other pieces of data (I can redownload basically all the apps I need), run clean until a better gingerbread leak comes along, then use titanium backup to backup what I have (and verify the backups and make backups of the backups )and install a better gingerbread rom.
So anyway, If i can figure out how to go into the datadata.img files, I guess I can extract the data I need and push it through ADB or ROOT EXPLORER? Should that work?
- nevermind...
There are computer applications that can read and explore image files, or .img files, and the file systems within image files. Your best bet would be software like that, that could open, edit, and explore image files. I dont know the names of any software like that, even though I have come across some before, but im sure you could turn up some results with the query "image file editor," or ".img file editor." From there you're just have to feel your way through.. Try similar queries if those don't turn up what you need, etc. If you got an app that could explore image files, then you could get your .apk files from /data/app folder, and any other data you might need from /data/data, if its just user apps you're wanting to restore.

Well I'll go ahead and point you to the right direction, or what I'd imagine should work for your needs. You'll need unyaffs, I'm assuming you're on windows so this here would be the right one for you http://www.box.net/shared/1eighqsh4s. Now take the data.img from your clockwork backup on your sdcard, drag and drop it onto the unyaffs.exe, it should unpack right there into a crapload of files. Navigate to the /data folder and find the ones you want to keep (they should be listed by the package name for the apps, "com.blah.asfkje.etc" rather than the name of the app so keep that in mind when looking for what you want), then adb push (root explorer would be fine too) the folders into your phone where they should be.

Just curious because of my personal interest...
Did you happen to try the nandroid Advanced Restore option, and select Data only? If not, it might be worth a shot. If it gets far enough, you might try wiping after the restore, and before booting up.
I always wipe my cache/Dalvik before I backup, to try to avoid conflicts with possible future ROMs. Something to think about, anyway.
Sorry about the trouble.

I have my p500 working flawlessly with v18.0 & froyo final. I recently installed the exact same setup on my friend's phone. The only problem is that she is telling me that the edge icon never appears / appears briefly and disappears. All the data settings are right according to what i've seen. (I've also installed the same setup on multiple p500)
She's not with me right now, and isn't quite sure to pull thru the nand backup/restore/flashing/ instillation and stuff.
The question is, suppose i set up everything she needs on my phone and nand back up it and ask her to restore that backup on her phone? Will it work? Has anyone tried it? I don't wanna screw this up for her.
Please assist me.

Is exactly the same thing no worries. Just make sure you partition the sdcard properly like yours in case you want to restore sd-ext apps
Yes you can, as said above make sure sd partitioning is same. I used a stock rom nand backup that was posted on xda by another user when I wanted to take my phone to warranty services. It worked fine.
Did you backup .androd-secure?

Android secure contains apps that are moved to the sd card (froyo apps to sd). So if you restore it you will find those apps. You can easily uninstall them later. Haven't tried this, taking an educated guess.
Suppose I have apps like widget locker making use of data from the sd card (the theme), will they be affected in the phone onto which they'll be restored?

Yeah, I suppose, if widget locker was enabled at the time you made the nand backup. If you really don't want any of your apps in someone else's phone then restore your backup to your phone, do a factory reset (or uninstall all offensive apps) , and then take another backup.
So I tried to restore my phone multiple times from two different recoveries and every time it stops during it and the screen goes black and the only way to turn my phone on is to pull the battery. Everything but the .android-secure restores and I now have about 200 hundred apps that aren't installed on my phone and I don't want to have to go through all that again, the apps still show as installed on my phone, but the the data on my SD card is missing, does anyone know how I can get this back?
Did you actually wipe your.android_secure folder?

No, I never wiped it. After I restored my phone it was empty
Did you ever try to move 200?? apps to sd?

Yes all the apps were on my SD card already. But they were moved over one by one so it wasn't a major hassle. I tried doing it through TWRP now and it won't restore at all anything that is.

Is your Sdcard partitioned, and, if so, are you running a ROM that supports A2SD?

No I never did a superwipe or anything of the sort, I didn't have any Titanium Backups either, never planned on flashing a new ROM, still haven't. The backup was through CWM the newest update 4.0.1.5 I tried restoring through that and the Revolutionary 4.0.1.4, neither worked. I moved all the recovery files over to TWRPs backup location and they none of the partitions would restore. My SD is not partitioned and I'm on a rooted stock ROM. I'm only talking about regular App2SD apps that are supported by Android, like Angry Birds and Google Earth.

Those go straight to your secure folder. I don't ever use CWM, as a rule, but it seems that somehow your CWM Nandroid didn't include that folder...I don't know how it got wiped, but my guess is that whatever rom you flashed included a Superwipe script, which would've wiped that folder. (another thing I don't use-Superwipe) If you go in with root explorer or whatever file manager, you can manually verify that a) your secure folder is empty (which it sounds like you've done), and also check under your /clockworkmod recovery folders to see if you actually have a backup for the secure folder.
If it's not there, then, unfortunately it's lost.. You can get the apps back from the market, though.. PM me if you have any 'hard to come by' apps you might need that don't show up on the market.
Good luck.

OK so what recovery did you make the backup? I don't think TWRP backup work in CWM. Also, you don't even NEED to restore the .img you're talking about. You can restore boot, system, data, and it should boot. If you need your apps back, download them. Then back them up with titanium backup. Koushik can be found in #cyanogenmod-dev on freenode, but I don't think you need to bug him. It sounds like your phone boots right? If you need more help come into our d3rp thread, linked in my sig.
Thanks, yeah I decided to just reset my phone anyway, to fix the black screen of death and everything. Just sucks I can't remember what all my apps were and I'm like a hundred short now
Hey everyone. So I wanted to try out the vanilla root box ROM today and after a while of checking it out I decided to swap back to the back up I made before doing the ROM install. Problem is, when I boot into recovery, and press restore...non of my backups are there. Can anyone help? Where did my back ups go?
ok, sorry guys, i was on my phone at a friends place when i posted this thread so i wasnt able to search to much on google. so the deal is my TWRP isnt seeing the backups i did after i rooted my note 2 and the backup i did before i flashed my vanilla rootbox rom. kinda weird. anyways, i looked thru my phone files with file manager and the backups are indeed there...
does anyone know where i need to move these files to have them show up under restore in TWRP? i tried one method of making another backup and then moving the backups to where the new backup was stored. but when i go to look, the new backup doesnt show in file manager in the location where TWRP said the backup was stored...i even searched for it and still no dice. lmk if you have a fix for this. thanks!
i also went into TWRP, went to advanced, file manager, data, media, twrp, backups, the back i was looking for was there.
i tried moving it to the media/0 location like mentioned in this youtube vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_ziillAA-I
it doesnt let me copy the folder over like shown in the vid. waited like 3 mins, then says it failed. then wont even try after each attempt afterwards, just goes straight to fail....
WHAT THE DEUCE!?
Ima connect the phone to my laptop and see if I can locate the newest backup I made and see about moving the older ones to that location. Seen if they show up. If anyone knows the actual location or fix for this do let me know. Seems that the newest version of twrp was suppose to fix this but I guess not.
ok so i figured it out.
somehow the first couple stock backups i made ended up in the TWRP backup folder on the internal drive of the phone.
the new backup was stored in the TWRP backup folder on my SD Card.
so after finding both locations, i cut the two stock backups i made and pasted them into the SD Card TWRPs Backup folder and BAM! they show up now in my restore option on TWRP.
ok just to confirm, my first nandroid backup flashes correctly. but the backup i made before i flashed the vanilla rootbox rom some reasno fails...i dunno. im just happy i got my backups to show up now. and at least one works. ima try and get the one backup to work again but well see. hope this thread helps someone out if they are having this same problem.

Sorry I am late to the party... But in twrp at the top of the screen you can change where to get the backup from its a bar that says data(xxxx) however much space you have left.. Tap it and you can. Go from internal to external memory and search any folder. Doesn't have to be in the twrp backup folder either... Just for future references... Again sorry probably could have saved you time and effort if I saw this earlier.

Follow instructions in post 8.
For fellow googlers out there: if, like me, TWRP shows only the "internal storage" and the "SD card" options but you can't see any folder, even though your backup is there, check if it's the serial number of the phone! Your backup should be in TWRP/Backups/<serial number>/Name of the backup. If you saved your backup in another phone, you need to check the serial number and rename the folder with the serial number.

In fact, the correct path where all your disk image files (data.ext4.win etc.) have to be stored, is /data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/<serial number>/<name of folder with disk image files>, so BACKUPS in capital letters.
TWRP does not "find" your backup otherwise (tested with 2.8).

Is there a way we can get this device supportive? I don't know to much about finding the check_sigs and hdr. I have attached the aboot.img and boot.img if anyone is willing to help thanks!
PS: The password for the zip is "android"
Here is the GitHub for loki

Are you really the only guy working on anything for this phone?
Sent from my LGMS500 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I will be helping him to I own this phone I have been trying to get cwm on this phone it is taking time though
I would totally donate to anyone who took the time to figure this phone out. When I went to the T-Mobile store, I was looking for the L9, which appears to have a strong modding community behind it, but they didn't have it in-store and I was in a pinch, so here I sit with a completely stock experience in my pocket. Not the worst stock experience, surely, but still stock.

Playfulgod has been working on native cwm for this, but I found that the f3 2nd init recovery works. Check my thread in atr

lg f6 help...Please help save a guy from bricking!
So I apologize if Im posting in the wrong spot but I noticed yall are still working on the F6...so I figured this made sense...
I thought I knew exactly what I wasdoing but did not....I was lucky enough to find patience enough to read up before flashing...I see the threads posted on how to root, backup, and restore this phone...but all those threads explain it using so0ftware other than I have... Since I made some moves before truly knowing what I was doing...I'd like to just stick wiith what i got for the moment and see if yall, as the experts can guide me down the runway...
Heres What I have so far:
1. I DO have root access
2. I DO have SuperSU and it seems to be working in the sense that it keeps logs...but sometimes it gives me a binary error. (I have NOT et converted SuperSU into a system app...bc im unclear if its necessary after reading a few different threads)
3. I DO have Root Browser' which I use to shuffle things around. (I DO have the /system and /data folders relocated on my external SD)
4. I DO have Titanium Backup which I used to BU my USER APPS/SYSTEM DATA.
5. I DO have Flashify which I also used to BU my STOCK RECOVERY/KERNEL (I cant seem to figure out where that recovery is being default stored though...Ive been searching high and low.
NOTE: Although im happy I have made it this far...I dont wanna go any further until I know exactly what im doing. I fear that I have missed something small. Something that would be a no brainer to you experts.
I'm unclear of storage requirements...I BELIEVE that I must store all my rooted tools on the external bc the goal is to wipe everything NOT on ext SD.
What I THINK I know is that hypothetically since im backed up...or when im 100% certain everything is....I can just click REBOOT TO RECOVERY MODE under the menu using Titanium.
IF I happen to be correct up to that point....I think my next move is using Titanium to put back the things ive stored on my SD.
In my mind that leaves me with the same ROM...but without the fluff...and now the ability to save to ext SD.....
If I underestand right....currently there are no MOD upgrades available due to difficulty of unlocking the bootlag....or something that sounds likethat...
I have ZERO experience with any of this....I hope what I just shared is at least in the ballpark of the right direction..
THANK YOU for any and all help!

Love xda.....
Is the recovery in "clockworkmod" folder in internal or exteral sd (was on my Metro F6)
And
Have you found this .... MS500][F6] Freedom Kernel Overclocked by GameTheory?
Over at.... here
Its for Metro LG F6 but I already ran tmobile firmware on my metro f6 without any problems....
I hope I can place an external link, as I'm somewhat unclear on if I can or can't.
IF it is wrong, please remove. I've been a member since 06 (That's 2006) I should be able to do so?????
Recovering F6
I agree with MadeFree, that the recovery file should be found in the 'Clockwork Mod' folder, under External SD, when using File Manager. When in recovery mode it should automatically bring up your Rom-backup when you click on Recover from External / (creation date) file name / yes to confirm.
Also, I use the F6 and I have bricked it multiple times while trying to figure out what i can actually do on it, as it only currently has a custom recovery made for it. I have been trying to figure out myself how to recover all the apps, files, pics, videos, etc. when i have to flash to STOCK Rom during brick. Currently, my solution for this was not found in the 'nano-droid backup' (i have been led to believe it could be recovered in RECOVERY MODE) but rather in an app called ROM toolbox from Google store. This does so much more than Titanium Backup does but i still use titanium for backing up a single application if needed. Rom toolbox can also save a copy of the Kernel as well as monitor your apps, make CPU tweaks, make backups using Google drive and much more. But the easiest way I have found for me may be different for you. Currently, my only reliable solution for recovering my data is using ZIP ME, (downloaded from the ROM toolbox app) as well as backing everything up using Google drive. The zip files are nice when not near my computer though. All i have to do after booting up the 'factory reset' is open file manager and look for my zips.
do not be afraid to soft brick (looping, freezes, crashes) when all you have to do is factory reset your phone using key combo or use the firmware followed in from the link provided by Madefree, down below.
