[Q] Droid Razr stuck on motorola red logo no boot manager - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hello,
I've searched for help on this and can't seem to find any.
Problem: Motorola Razr is stuck on the red m logo, but I cannot boot into the boot menu to flash via RSD or anything. The logo is offset to the left a little and has a small 1-2 pixel high rainbow of colors across the bottom. When trying to boot into the menu with power and vol + & - it simply boots without a logo but still the small bar of colors.
Probable cause: Phone's screen wasn't turning on and the phone wouldn't turn off so I did the reset with vol up and power while the phone was still probably on. Before when my phone's button wasn't responsive i used that to reset it and it had worked.
Info on phone and rom:
Rom - Rage rom 2.2 upgraded from 2.1 (worked for the past two months fine)
Phones base version: 98.72.16 (the april JB release) flashed via droid razr utility
Safestrap version 3.11
What I've tried: was going to try rsd flashing but i can't reach the boot menu.
Basic summary: Stuck on M logo and can't get into boot menu or safestrap, after holding vol up + power while phone was on.

Going into the boit manager and flashing via rsd lite both are different .
For flashing via rsd lite ya need to switch off ya mobile and then press both volume down and volume up at same time and press power button then.
It ll take ya into the bootloader and then using power down come till 3rd option ap fastboot and then press power up to select that now connect ya phone to pc and then flash the fastboot using rsd lite
Edit : make sure ya have installed appropriate drivers to get recognise ya phone by rsd lite
Thanks!!
Please hit the thanks button if i helped ya in anyways !!!

I think i have the same problem
I had MIUI on my Razr and today i wanted to try CyanogenMod, so i downlaoded it and installed it with ClockWorkMod, then rebooted and struck in the big red M, and no way to access the boot manger because if i press volume up + volume down + power it reboot, show the big red M then black sceen, and if it's conneced to my pc it tryes to install some drivers bit it fail, but still black screen
Is it bricked? What can i do?

Ya can't use boot manager and cwm recovery both . If ya want to use cwm ya need to remove all the files of bmm . Its just soft bricked not hard bricked so no need to worry just flash the appropriate fastboot file using rsd lite to get back to stock
Thats it
Edit : i think ya know the flashing method
Thanks!!

Thanks for trying but I tried following your instructions to get into fast boot and the screen just goes dark. Also when plugging into my PC it pops up on windows' end saying that a USB device has malfunctioned. I think I may just get it replaced under warranty unless sometime soon I find out theres a new way to fix it. But yeah it seems its too hard to tell if I'm actually in fastboot or if its even getting there properly.
Thanks!

As far as i know ya have tried all the unbrick method , none of them seemed to work . I believe ya razr is not soft or hard bricked and its not software problem too . Its hardware problem ya need to take it to service centre because it may be LED problem
Thanks!!

How I fixed my Motorola Razr i (Intel)
Hello guys,
Since my Motorola Razr i phone is a company phone where I receive my corporate emails, I wasn't allowed to root the phone whatsoever.
My phone got stuck on the Red Motorola logo under normal usage. One day I turned it off and when I turned it back on, I had this problem.
How I solved it:
1) Downloaded and installed RSD Lite 6.1.4 which worked on Windows 8.1. Ensure all drivers are installed and that nothing is undetected in Device Manager. #important
2) I am based in Germany and I had the Vodafone Retail (EU) version. So I downloaded "CFC_9.8.2I-50_SMI-26_S7_USASMIJBRTEU.xml.zip" from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=13. This corresponds to Android 4.1.2 Retail Europe.
3) I booted the phone in Fastboot (Power + Vol down; after restart and little vibrate, release power, keep finger on Vol down.)
4) The phone was detected in RSD Lite. I chose the zip file, unpacked and flashed.
5) Done. Phone was fresh. No warranty was void, nothing was rooted. All good.
Hope that helps somebody out there!
Cheers,
Shailen.

I've got the same issue. Took the OTA (was on stock OTA, rooted). Not, nothing but moto-logo with the only working option being AP Fastboot. Tried script utility to bring back to 4.1.2, but it fails on writing system and boot (preflash validation failed FAILED (remote failure)).
Is there another way to get the stock images flashed on there?

Well, with RSDLite 6.1.6 and the most recent build from droid-developers . org I'm back in operation. Old version, wiped out, but at least I can make/receive phone calls.

How I got my Razr HD (XT925) Working! Flashed It WITHOUT LOSE ANY FILES!
I know this is a old thread, but if some one else falls here just like me, I had a problem with my XT925 too, and figured out that my only choice was to flash it up.
My phone was stuck in the red motorola logo, and it doesn't even tried to load the android.
After reading a lot of information and tried EVERYTHING, I fall here, and the comment of @shailentj saved my phone!
So I basically followed the steps that @shailentj posted in this very thread, with some differences.
1 - His link goes directly to Motorola RAZR i (XT890), but if you access ' sbf.droid-developers.org ' (I can't post links yet) you will be able to find your own model, which in my case was Razr HD (XT925).
2 - Extracted the whole firmware package (.zip file) and edited the .xml file, removing the "getvar" line. If you don't know what or how to do this, is just remove the line where you find the text "getvar". If you have trouble, just google it, there is a lot of information.
And finally, the reason I'm here. I found a way to don't delete USER DATA! My phone stuck, and I did't have any backup of my contacts (that is a lot of numbers) nor my files (photos, movies).
So I start to read the .xml file, and find a step "userdata", with operation "erase". This line says to erase the user's data partition, and in most cases, we don't want that.
Then, just remove the line in the xml written: " <step operation="erase" partition="userdata"/> ", and your files (may) not be erased!
4 - I start to flash, and then I got the infamous message "sistem_signature" failed. The solution was just download the last RSD I found (which in my case was 6.1.6).
5 - My phone restarts, with everything working great, system restored and ALL MY FILES AND CONTACT NUMBERS were there!
So very thank you @shailentj, your post really helped me a lot!
And yeah, you can flash your phone without lose any contacts or photos!
Now go, and spread the word!

[Q] Need help going back to stock .173

This is my first post on XDA, so hello everyone! lol I think I've graduated from "noob" to eager learner, but this one has me stumped. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
I have a Verizon cdma RAZR Maxx, rooted, running Eclipse v1.3 custom ROM, 2.3.6., and cwm/bootstrap. I'm wanting to check out the new ICS ROM, but I can't get back to stock! When I tried recovery it said no files found. I tried RSD lite and it said it failed. I've tried wiping cache and factory reset too and none of that helped. I'm not sure which direction to go now...any ideas?
try using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1486718
Add to original post
I forgot to add that I also tried mattlgroff's utility and it kept saying that the system could not find the correct path...??????
are you sure you are in fastboot mode
fastboot mode
Yes. I powered down holding the power and vol+- buttons, released power, and waited til the black screen w/white letters came up. I vol- twice to AP Fastboot, the vol+ to select. Then plugged in the phone and waited until it said USB connected and started the utility. I selected option one and followed the instructions from there and it wouldn't work.
I have another razr maxx with a shattered screen that I have to send back to the insurance company. It's rooted but still running stock. Can I pull the system files from it and push them to my other razr?

Bricked Droid Razr

Hello, I am new to this forum.
I will try to explain the best that I can about how I got into this situation.
I was previously running on ICS 4.0.4(don't really know if it is .211 or .214 or something.). I tried to root it using Matt's Droid Razr Utility 1.7. I didn't really know what to do and was stupid enough to follow the video in the help thread(which was for upgrading from GB rather than rooting an ICS). Then I panicked.
I used option 1, followed by option 9, followed by option 3, followed by option 2, and then all four in random orders. Later on, I realized that I had to recover from the .211 file in the sd card after option 1(failure on my part). However, now whenever I try to enter recovery, I get Invalid Flash Mode Boot failure, whereas a normal boot will give me Invalid Flash Mode Flash failure.
I tried to use ADB tools and it didn't work.
Then I tried Utility 1.81. My driver is the same as the one provided, and the cable is the one that came along with the charger and phone.
My phone carrier is Singtel.
Any way out of this? Thanks in advance.
is it possible to enter fastboot ??
if so try to grab an image in development section wich you can place on your phone with RSD lite.

I can enter fastboot, and only fastboot. Attempting to enter any BP or recovery will result in the failures.
I just downloaded a stock rom for my phone. I'll see how it turns out.
Thank you for your time.
im in a similar situation, my phone is bricked, how do u enter fastboot? and where can i get a rom to use in rsd lite?

Since the thread name is Droid razr i think it is xt912
Go fast boot (power off your phone[if you cant then push and hold vol down+vol up and power button the same time, when you see your display flashed quickly release all buttons and press them again and hold- you should get boot menu and then use vol down to get on AP fastboot and use vol up to select it]).
Then use rsd lite and FXZ files to get your phone running, no need for any kind of wipe after this. Wait until rsd lite says finished.
What fxz files do I use? I've tried like 3 different ones and they always fail

[Q] I broke it.

Hi folks,
I was running the Vodafone EU release of Jelly Bean 4.1.2 on my XT910 Razr MAXX and decided to do a factory reset. The phone went through the motions and then rebooted and decided to get stuck in what appears to be the infamous boot loop. I've had a look at the process for unbricking the phone and I do have the factory cable so I can flash the phone.
So far, I've used RSD Lite to flash the phone in Fastboot AP mode with a couple of different images but the result always seems to be the same in that the flash appears to run successfully and the phone reboots. I eventually get an image on the screen of the little green android guy (standing up - not the recovery mode image!) with a blue black diamond thing spinning in his chest. There is a blue progress bar under the image that just seems to run forever and after leaving for a good hour, nothing else happens. I never seem to get into recovery mode.
I wondered if anyone else had seen this and has any advice on how I can recover the phone or point me in the right direction.
Thanks

Look oug into the link and download appropriate fastboot file for ya xt910 and flash it via rsd lite again .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2231289
Edit : ya do npt need fastboot factory cable till ya battery is ok hence ya can use only normal data cable ya got with the xt910
Once rsd lite says it pass ya phone ll reboot and ya ll see a droid with exclamatory sign (as ya saying ) , Now just press both of the vol down and Vol up at a time and this ll take ya to the stock recovery. Now do a full wipe and wipe caches too and reboot
Profit
Thanks!!

Thanks for the note. I reckon I've really screwed something here because this is exactly what I've been doing but RSD lite never gets to "pass". It reboots the phone as you describe and then I get a little android fella with a spinning diamond or something in his chest but never the exclamation mark so pressing up/down never does anything.

No joy.
So, here's what I'd doing in case its something really stupid.
Connect the phone to PC (Windows 7 64bit) in Fastboot AP mode
Open RSD Lite and flashing 9.8.2O-124_SPUEM-14_S7_USASPDRICS01RUKE1007.0R_USASPDRJBRTGB_P011_b57374ab5a_p2b_S1FF_fb_CFC
Flash completes and phone reboots.
Phone shows red Moto logo and then shows a picture of green android with spinning blue diamond with a progress bar. The progress bar seems to fill up from 0 to 100% and then runs continuously and nothing else happens.
I've tried flashing and then when RSD initiates the reboot, holding down both volume buttons and then hitting recovery mode but this doesn't do anything either.
Arrrgghhhhh.
It might be worth mentioning that I'm having to keep the phone connected to the PC via USB as the battery is completely flat.

It's possible that the internal mem card has hardware failure.
I suggest that you try to flash a few different flashboots (roms).

I guess I broke my XT910

Hi everyone,
I am writing in order to find a helping hint to rescue my Motorola Razr XT910...
I was just trying to install another ROM via BMM, wiped everything, tried to reboot to BMM again because I inserted a SD card...
Now it does not reboot anymore and does not show the BMM boot animation!
It shows the regular, red Motorola logo, and then nothing.. black..
What did I do wrong, or what can I do to revive it??? Is there any windows one click installer/tool/recovery program??
I have been using BMM for a while now and this never happened... I installed many roms but now it seems as if it is broken.
I would be so happy to get some hints. I haven't found some similar posts for this problem.

there isn't a script tool for the xt910 because there are too many firmwares. The motorola logo means your bootloader is there, the black screen after means there isn't a ROM for it to boot up. It is curious that BMM hijack isn't showing up though. Have you taken the sd card out and tried booting it up again?
Anyways make sure you can get into stock recovery, if so, find the correct firmware for your xt910 (it is region specific.)
reinstall it with RSD lite(make sure you have plenty of battery.) Reroot, Reinstall BMM and restore your backup.

Thanks for your quick reply!
Right now I cannot get into ANY menu or something, I can press any button I want. After the "logo" it stays black. The phone also might not even be able to be connected to my computer. At least Microsoft Windows doesn't even show a new device when I connect it via USB, regardless if I have the correct drivers...
I dont know what to do... RSD didnt help me either. It wont find the phone...

Well, whenever you turn on your Razr, there is an initial red Motorola Logo. After that you usually touch the screen to boot into BMM (in case the green boot loader appears).
BUT... (of course I tried the VOL+ Vol- und Power button move) after rebooting it only shows the red Motorola Logo and then nothing but black.

How long are you holding them down.. it can take a good twenty-thirty seconds sometimes. Mine is also finicky if I don't press them all down at the exact same time, it wont let me in then either.
If your getting the boot logo it is just really hard to believe you dont have stock recovery... can the device charge? If you hook it to a computer do you get the white led?
While it is Flashing M LOGO.... just keep the VOLUME DOWN AND POWER KEY Pressed...till it Flashes and Shutsdown....and immediately let go the Buttons and Immediately Again press Both the buttons... VOL DOWN+POWER Key
when you get to the FASTBOOT mode

Now I am facing an issue that's really annoying. I can get into recovery (AP Fastboot) if the phone is connected to a power source. As soon as I unplug it, the screen turns black! When I connect the phone to my computer, the LED goes white and I cannot access AP Fastboot....
When no cable is connected to the phone I cannot access any recovery mode.
What is wrong here? Even if I connect the phone to the power source only, it shows the red Motorola logo all the time. It seems as if I cannot turn it off. Is there also a trick how to really turn it off and let the phone charge??

[Q] How to factory state (no SS, no JBX, etc)?

I have flashed my (now my father's) razr couple months ago and now GPS stopped working. It needs to be repaired.
I kind of know how to remove safestrap but what really annoys me is JBX kernel boot logo which appears whatever I do. I can be using stock rom and have no safestrap (nor other roms) installed but JBX logo still appears. I have never been really using it, just tested it once and since that, it is stil there.
Any idea how to remove it?

You need a PC to do this and just a regular USB/Charging cord that you normally would use to connect it to a computer.
You need to RSD it, It'll erase everything on the Internal, not the SD card so that should be safe.
Here is a link for the RSD program. LINK
Here is a list of different versions of Android you can download for your Razr LINK
And you also will need these drivers here LINK
(skip this step if your stuck in a bootloop)
1. Now what you do is you connect your phone to the computer, I used Media (MTP) mode. Install the Drivers and install RSD lite. and pick your Fastboot file version you want, I did the 4.1.2 so i could root it again with the easy root, but its your preference. Now Unplug your phone and hold power and turn it off.
2. Now press Power and Vol DOWN together. if it doesn't do anything let go of power button but keep the Vol DOWN, It should come up with a menu. Let go of Vol DOWN and tap it until you get to the option that says RSD mode, then press Vol UP.
3. Connect your device to the computer. RSD Lite should show a device on slot 1. Click it then press START. now browse and find the fastboot files the click Decompress and flash.
4. DO NOT TOUCH THE PHONE. DO NOT TOUCH THE PHONE. DO NOT TOUCH THE PHONE. DO NOT TOUCH THE PHONE.... oh yeah, one more thing. DO NOT TOUCH THE PHONE!
5. After its done, VIOLA. Stock phone. Re-Root. Reinstall SafeStrap. golden!
