Unsure if this a problem caused by CM 10.1 or android 4.2.2 but using both jellybam and paranoidkangdroid I am unable to put the screen to sleep, the hardware button still works for shutting down just not turning off screen. I also have a hard time getting music to play, requires reboots and shutting down of apollo app, unsure of which of these actually does the trick or if its just luck.
Part of the symtoms include a flashing black screen, what it looks like is a black overlay with part of the status bar still visible. As well as rare random reboots.
Does anyone know if this a problem with the i717 and the most up to date roms or something else.
Help much appreciated thanks.
The only issue I can comment on is Apollo. Mine you have to select the music you want or hit play, wait, hit back when the app freezes and then wait for the pop up saying "Apollo has stopped working". Press Ok and go back into the app and hit play or the song you chose again to get it working. After that the app works amazing! I think it actually is a common problem on 4.2.2 but can't say for sure. The rest, I don't really know what to suggest. Sorry
Best of luck to you

I'm getting this same issue in JellyBAM, PAkangdroid, and CM10.1 M-release (2013-04-11 latest). Re-flashing the ROM in recovery seems to fix it for a while, but I still haven't been able to narrow down a root cause yet.

I have a uk set gs2. The problem nw is it at times it automatically restarts. It happens maybe 2 times a day. Or less. But it bothers me. Wonder
What could have causes it? I have rooted it with kernel from chainfire. KE7. Installed rooted apps like adfree, density changer and market enabler. No task killer. Any help from this? Appreciate it. Thanks!
This was happening with me as well after i installed No Lock. Removed it and it never restarted since.
I have the same problem. My SGS2 reboots frequently, especially(mainly) when I am using the default music player.
I have a stock SGS2, no root or taskkiller.
I do have last.FM running also.
The reboots are really random and not related to the amount of free RAM (there is usually a lot).
Another thing i want to add is that the reboots are really quick, does not seem to occur like the normal (re)boot process.
I had the same problem. The music player shuts down after awhile. But the reboot was a quick one. I use screen off and lock. I didnt use no lock though
Yes! This happens to me aswell. I can recreate this using default music player. When I play my quick list it reboots...well the reboot takes like 5secs? Blazing fast but still it is an issue. I have stock ke7 too with cf's root kernel. I didn't stay on ke7 wothout root for a long time so can't know for sure if that's the problem.

Same here guys .With xwke7 something goes wrong with the stock music player.Very fast reboot.SAMMY?>?????
my reboot is probably even faster than 5 seconds...
when i listen to a podcast on the default music player it suddenly stops and instantly plays the tone it plays when the phone starts and when i unlock the screen everything is booted up already, so i dont know if it even is a real reboot or just some reinitialization or stuff... i gotta check if it happens with other mp3 players too.

I can't say that I know exactly what the difference is, but for me, I see the SIMM PIN entry screen, meaning that if a "reboot" goes unnoticed, my phone ain't a phone because it's off the network until I get my PIN entered.
I seem to have the same problem.
This has happened since the day I got it (original firmware KE1) and have also tried updating it too (KE7)
I have noticed this especially when the music player is running.
Another thing I have noticed is that if its in my pocket (with no force being applied to it) it happens more frequently than if I have it in my hand.
Yeah I have the same problem. But I only ever notice it when I'm running the stock music player.
I believe it happens when these happen at the same time:
1) the stock music player is being used
2) the phone is vertical (like in your pants or chest pocket) - this one I am the least sure about
3) there is a change in GSM/3G/4G signal, even if the phone is in airplane mode
sounds crazy, but these are the circumstances I get it under, at least two times in the day.
I only experienced one sudden reboot in 2 weeks. I'm on stock KE5, no root. It happened when i was switching off/on the screen and unlocking the phone too fast using WidgetLocker. The weird part was the reboot was blazing fast, the boot animation for a second or two and then phone went to main screen instantly.
Same story here, KE7, when playing music player it restarts randomly.
I have this firmware for 3 weeks and it just started doing this this week. Happened 2 times in the last 2 days and got me worried that.it is hardware related.
hi
i am having the same problem, only happened a couple of times like explained here, in music player it will randomly reboot. i am on ke7 with cf-root
i had one yesterday though, phone was on my desk not using it at all, only push email active, nothing else running and i just heard a sound from it, looked and it had gone into "Safe Mode" (said bottom left of the screen), also some of my widgets had disappeared and needing readding, and also pretty much everything from my folders in applications had jumped out and gone into the default applications pages (about 30 of them!)
anyone had this problem before?
it was posted in the KE7 release thread and confirmed to be an issue even with poweramp as well as the stock music player. I'm currently on KE2 without a single issue with the audio player and i had to revert back to KE2 from KE7 because of this issue

Ph00ny so you're not having this issue anymore?
Actually I loved my old sgsII (apart from screen which is why I replaced)
KE2 Was awesome. More wallpapers and etcs. I might do the same if the randon odd reboot stops.

As of today my music player is unusable. It stops/pauses music every couple of seconds now, I hope they will release new firmware soon :.
Here is one for you, after thorough tests I have come to conclusion, that random restarts are happening when using wired headset, phone does not restart when using loudspeaker or bluetooth headset...

yeah you are right, i have the pin security enabled too, so this cant be a full reboot, since i would have to re-enter the pin code ... so its probably just a restart of some component (touchwiz?)
and yes it did only happen when i used the stock music player in combination with a wired head set ... right now i use poweramp and did not have this problem anymore

I've installed CM9, AOKP and Paranoid Android on my i9300 and I have one major issue. How on earth do I turn off the unlock sound. I can't seem to find an option to turn it off or even just change it.
Searching around for it I must be the only one annoyed by it.
Also is it supposed to almost totally silence playing music? Because that's really really annoying having to press a volume key to get the sound back after unlocking.
Settings ––> sound ––>
It's in there. One of the tick boxes further down the page.

I've seen that option and tried it, rebooted, tried it again, rebooted, tried it again, rebooted.. It's driving me nuts.
The unlock sound killing playing music is pretty terrible too, I hope that gets fixed at some point.. Think I might stick a bug report in for it.
Using the latest nightly of CM9 this works fine for me. I don't recall it being an issue in any of the other nightlies I've used either, which is all of them since the 24th.
Hi, Sorry if this has been asked, i didn't see anything in the forums specific to this, but i have a random sonar type noise that goes off every so often, probably about 10-15 times a day in fact, annoying at night, it has no notifications or any indication what it could be.
It started when i updated to 4.0.4 with I9300XXLG8 and the Siyah -s3-v1.5rc1 kernel. I had installed and tried the AOSP jelly bean, didn't like it, did full wipe and reverted back to 4.0.4, but had installed the latest modem and kernel.
after this i restored all my apps and settings from my backup and i was happy. since i did this i have had random sonar noises that didn't happen before with other firmware, and i have no idea what to do to stop it.
Is there any way to find out what notification sounds are assigned to which programs? or could it be something to do with the kernel?
has anyone else experienced this?
no worries if nobody has any suggestions, there are worst things that could happen, its only an annoying sounds every now and then, but any help would be appreciated!!!
Paul.
bump!
Weird lol, try a factory reset, if it stops then probably it's some kind of app, start installing apps one by one (or 10 by 10) and try to pinpoint which app is causing the sound.
have you checked if you have nfc active? i had a similar situation on my phone and it would play a notification sound randomly (i assumed randomly, but it wasn't).. only a few months leter i realised it only played that sound when i was holding the phone and my wallet together.. i happened to have a card with an nfc chip from my football team..
I checked all that stuff, nfc is off, even while airplane mode is on and there should be no network activity, it still makes the noise, there is no set pattern either, I did want to try and avoid a full reset, but ill have to try it out, maybe if i do that ill try the latest JB leak.
thanks for your responses guys!.
Paul.
Figured it out in the end!, it was a HTC animated clock widget i had installed! it made a notification noise every time the location changed!!
deleted and noise now gone!..
Does anyone know where i might be able to find a good HTC animated clock widget that has a smooth flip animation?
i tried a few and dont seem to be getting any joy! I have it on my work phone which is a HTC Wildfire S. i like that clock.
I've flashed CM 11 M7 and i noticed a few problems here and there.....
Music Player
When i use the music player, whether it be Google play or apollo , for some tracks it stops playing the music.
It shows that it is playing.. but I can't hear anything. Is it because of any format problems? i checked the formats but they are all mp3.
Sometimes it will go mute in between some track and then play again.
Lock screen
The phone suddenly hangs up and the lock screen comes up. or else it reboots. This does not happen that frequent.. but yes.. it happens.
For now i've noted these two.. has anybody else encountered any such problems?
Can anyone provide any solution?
Music player.......KNOWN BUG/ISSUE.....if it's a deal breaker....go back to CM10.....no other option.
This has been covered/discussed "ad nauseum" in EVERY CM11 thread so you really SHOULD have known about it.....
Lock screen.....probably a local issue (your device).....a full wipe and clean install would probably help.....it's not happened to me, and I've not read anybody else having the issue....

Well i had seen two three people write abut music player problem but i could not really relate my problem to that. ay be i missed the thread which addresses this issue.
But why is going back to CM 10 is a solution? They are not going to fix it in M8?
I'll be doing a full wipe while putting cm11 m8 next month. i guess that will do the work for lock screen. isn't it?
If playing music is of primary importance for you then (at the moment) there is NO fix for this bug, and you'd be better off using a JB based build.....because until cyanogen find out why it's happening, this problem will keep on occurring...... so if it's annoying you enough, reverting to CM10 IS the only current option......

Hello, I'm using a Resurrection Remix ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S2, and everything works just fine, except a Snapchat. I've downloaded and installed it - fine, nothing wrong happened. But when I run that app, after few seconds my phone restarts just like that. Screen goes black, than the bootloader logo is showing up etc. The funny, or rather strange thing is that at the beginning, Snapchat app was just disappearing every time after restart. Now It's still in app drawer, but unfortunately I can't still get this to work. Do you guys have some idea why this happens? Or what can I do, to get rid of that restarts? Thanks from above for any answer
Regards
