Follow directions to SBF your phone back to stock Froyo
HERE
After you have followed those directions, THIS IS IMPORTANT PEOPLE, go thru the setup, *228 option 1 and all.
Go ahead and do a factory data reset/wipe your phone from Settings>>Privacy>>Factory Data Reset
After wiping the phone re-root with Gingerbreak and instal Tenfar Lin's Recovery.
Tutorials for rooting and installing recovery as well as additional download links/mirrors can be found in the sticky or here:
Root
Recovery
Place the downloaded GB Pre-Rooted file un the root(top of filesystem/not in any folder) of your externad sd card and rename to "update.zip".
Reboot into recovery thru Tenfar's Bootstrap Recovery app and select "Apply SDCARD : update.zip"
NOTE : It will take a long time, about 15 minutes... EDIT: I dont remember how long it takes with the new prerooted version.... I did this at work yesterday...
Reboot your phone. IT WILL BOOTLOOP!!! EDIT: If it bootloops, pull battery, reboot holding power and volume down, use volume down to scroll to stock/built in recovery, press volume down and up at the same time twice until you get the menu, wipe/factory data reset....
The phone will seem to stall at the eye, but give it time... EDIT: I wasnt watching as I was doing this at work....
Eventually you will be at your home screen and all will be well and rooted in the wonderful world of GingerBread!!
ENJOY!!!

Have you tried a battery pull and reboot? Make sure you don't have any kind of mod at all and if it still doesn't work, SBF back to bone dry stock, wipe, remove/uninstall any and all apps you may still have and try again...

Another Mirror.

Edit: Installation Aborted (bad)
The Link Update.zip In OP Is Bad.

Wow, this first time I tried rsd it called the device 'fastboot' rather than the usual Daytona
I tried again after several battery pulls and got to where it called it Daytona and went ahead and flashed and thank you, it worked.
Even scarier was that I could not boot to use the nandroid backup either! I plugged into the wall outlet without the battery, inserted the battery and still had boot failure 1!!
I thought it was supposed to be possible to sbf back to 2.2? I am stuck in a boot loop now....sigh
great, tried again and notice that my error 7 says error in /sdcard/update.zip <sigh>
back to the same issue I think...
Just so EVERYBODY knows, I got the sdcard error and the bootloop issue and I panicked and SBF-ed again!!! After the second sbf I ran the update one more time and got the installation aborted error and sat at a bootloop for a few minutes... let it work... P3Droid himself said that it will abort, and it will bootloop and take some time. As I stated in the How-To, his instructions aren't very detailed and along with my own issues I decided to write the How-To...
I think I finally got this to work, thanks for the help. I was pondering if it would be better to run over the phone with my car or say I had lost it...

I'll See What I Can Do, I'm Fighting The Battery Pulls By Deleting The Bloat.
Went From 170Mb - 228Mb Free Just From The Bloat.
Final Result After Deodex Is 269Mb Free Same As Froyo.
That's A 100Mb Difference, Of Nothing But B/S.

Such as fresh sbf download?
(you're not trying to flash the zipped sbf are u lol....I've done that before lol)
Did you unzip with 7 zip?
Reinstall drivers and rsd lite (reboot computer after install)
Oh and by the way. Plenty of people have gone back to 2.3.4 successfully. Including me after I bricked when I hadan install abort of eclipse after using root keeper.

Yup, thanks XD sadly I'm stuck at stock 2.3.4 because eclipse has the wifi bug and liberty and molten have market bugs so :'(
There isn't really a wifi bug on eclipse 2.02
The people that had the issues fixed it by one of these choices:
1. reset wifi router.
2. Turn of QoS in wifi router settings
3. Get a new wifi router lol
I think there is another fix I'm forgetting ATM ....if I think of it I'll let you know
Does anyone have a good downlink for RUU 4.03.605.2? I have searched everywhere to find one. The androidpolice site seems to be down as I get a javascript error when I try to download from there and none of the mirrors work. I tried to download from the dropbox link posted in a different topic but it was corrupted everytime I downloaded. I s-off'd as soon as I could and I haven't updated anything since except changed roms and want to update to the newest update and then go back to my current rom which is viper 1.0.3. Thanks for any help. Once I find the link I just need to flash the ruu twice, factory reset, flash jbear hboot, recovery and rom of my choice is that correct?
I distributed it as a torrent file within a few hours of Android Police posting it. Apparently uTorrent isn't very popular in these forums.
If we had a hundred seeders it would be the fastest way to download the RUU file.
If you like using uTorrent, here is the torrent file
http://db.tt/RsULMvOy
However, I don't think there are many seeders.
regards,
Howard
P.S. After downloading remember to check the MD5 with that published by Android Police

I tried that one about 8 times yesterday and it never worked so I tried it again and I get the same error as yesterday "{"INFO":"failed posted hashcheck","SOLUTION":"please make sure you have javascript enabled for androidfilehost.com. Hit the back button, enable javascript and try again please. we promise we are probably not doing anything nefarious. maybe. no promises though."}" My javascript is already enabled and I am running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit w/windows explorer 9. I downloaded that bit torrent but it says it is corrupt and it took 4 hours to download.
Edit: I just tried it on Windows XP with explorer 8 and got the same error message.
Edit: Just downloaded Google Chrome and it is working. Internet Explorer is the problem.
Edit: I downloaded 3 different times from the androidfilehost website and from 3 different computers and all 3 times the zip file was corrupt.

Try the download from your phone. I had the same invalid folder message when downloading it from a PC. Once I did it from my phone, the download worked.

Thanks, I actually just tried that and it downloaded about 10x faster but I had the same error message. I verified the MD5 and then used a zip file repair to recover it and it worked. I just flashed it twice but it did fail on MDM_CUST, TPZ and Radio Cust2 and then I did a factory reset. It just rebooted and appears to be working correctly.

Thanks. there servers appear to be down. I'll try them again later. My phone appears to be working but the last update had 3 things fail on the update so I will probably redo it once I find a good download think. Thanks again.
EDIT: I got the same corrupt error message from shipped-roms as I did from Androidpolice on both my phone and computer. It got me thinking and it ended up being my winzip program was saying it was corrupt when it wasn't. I changed to 7zip and the error message went away and I just reflashed my phone and it went perfect without any errors. Thanks for the all the help.

yes im on S-on and yes i followed the instructions and now my phone is stuck. im trying to install the original vzw stock using ph98.img. its stuck in the hboot screen and i can't get it out. and my phone pc isn't recognizing my computer. my problem started when i used hasoon2000 all in one tool kit and locked my bootloader. now i can't get off this white hboot screen. the only opitions i have is fastboot, recovery, factory reset, clear storage ,simlock, image crc..
any suggestions
you may need to get a card reader so put the ph98.img back on the sd not in any files and install it in fastboot again twice
Hello,
I am able to access recovery, and the boot screen. I have 1.15 hboot s-on. When in recovery, the /system doesn't mount. I can see internal storage, and sdcard storage. Last thing I was doing I flashing boot.img for the cyanogenmod 10.1. Then i wanted to swap out to another rom.. however the one i swapped to was corrupted.. forgot to check md5 checksum. Any help for this? I have checked the internet and google but only found results for other phones/devices.
Is there anything I can flash via fastboot or anything to fix this?
Flash stock rom in bootloader. Lots of examples in here if you look.

Ive tried the original ruu.. however the 'stock' zips found on here all redirect to some slow site(s) that times out before the download can complete.. or it completes corrupted.. the whole day has been pretty much wasted waiting for 1 hour long downloads that end of erroring out within 10 mins of being complete. I wish I could find this on a torrent or something fast.

So yeah... I found instructions and was able to flash from odin but I have no su and root apps are telling me I don't have root. I tried to install su from the play store but it said I didn't have binaries. Is there more to this than just flashing or what? Thanks in advanced.
