Over the last few days, I've been cooking up a ROM using the Incredible S system dumps and nandroids. Problem is, it doesn't work It flashes fine, everything works there, but when I boot up my N1, it stays on the Nexus splash screen (the one with the X on the padlock on it). If any devs could have a good look at it, and see if they can find the source of the problem I'd be eternally grateful When you've found the problem and confirmed it works, PM me the file, tell me how you solved the problem, and I'll just check everything is in working order, then upload it. I will also put your username in the thread!
I used the HTC Android Kitchen (link here) to make this, so you might want to use that.
Incredible S
Link to latest ROM
The zip is: 224.0 MB (234929825 bytes)
Desire S
Link to latest Desire S ROM.
The zip is: 233.1 MB (244429351 bytes)
Thank you devs,

I doubt you could get the whole image on the phone, 224mb is way to big without scripts to move files over to another partition.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784260
That is 268mb and is a Sense ROM, so 224mb should fit.
I think that the system directory is way too big to be installed on a nexus one.
You should move some of the system content to data or move it to an ext3 sdcard partition.
What they said.
Put attention that even the ROM you linked REQUIRES A2SD partition, which it'll set up and use.
So to move the content from system to data: is that just a straight drag and drop procedure, or is some converting to make it work in data rather than system required?

I am not an expert in the porting roms topic but if I am correct you will have to symlink the things that you move.
This can be done modifying the updater-script.
OK, thank you

How would I move the stuff from system to an ext3 sdcard partition?

Good thread. Sounds like a simple matter of setting up a2ext.
Nice work dude!
I would take a look at eViL's desire HD port since its going to be the most similar to this ROM....
That should help you in figuring out what is/isn't okay to move to SD....

Thank you thanks also for the tip

How big should the system and data directory's ideally be?
System - 140 MB is the phone limit, so I wouldn't go above 120-125 MB.
Data - all the rest, as much as you need. You're installing to EXT anyway.
Can you provide a LOGCAT when booting up?

I can certainly try
OK, so I've moved stuff to a folder in the root of the ROM called ext, as that is what was in the NXSense-HD ROM by eVil. Problem is, the system directory is still 20mb too big. The folders in system:
bin
etc
framework
lib
media
sd
usr
xbin
and build.prop
What can I move to ext/data from this selection of folders? I moved from system to ext:
app (now called system-app)
customize (now called system-customize)
fonts (now called system-fonts)
Thanks,
redbullcat
I'm not a developer, but if you move one folder to ext partition and create a symlink to this folder in system partition? Shouldn't it work?

I don't know if any folder can be moved though. For example, framework may not be movable.
EDIT: So I've moved some stuff from system to ext, but now the update-script is giving me grief. I'm trying to follow eVil's update-script, but it doesn't seem to be working. Does the update-script have to be done manually, or is there an automatic generator?
I've tried and tried, and I can't seem to get it to work. Could somebody either link me to an update-scipt generator, or help me build an update-script? I'd be so grateful
Yesterday I put some roms on my sdcard of the phone. I then installed and aosp rom but the camera didn't work so I installed Trickdroid 5.4.0 instead. Today I just went to put a different rom on the sdcard and I noticed that some of my folders were missing that I added. There is a folder now called 0. That's it, just 0 and all my folders are inside that. There are also some of the same folders in that folder on my root storage with the same exact name but empty. Wtf? Anyone have any idea how that happened?
Cm10.1 adds multi user support. User 0 is the default. All your /data stuff is in there now

Time for another PSA, I think, Gunnyman!
Or one big FAQ since this keeps popping up.
They just get locked.

Same exact scenario with me I'm confused. TWRP recovery doesn't detect my old backups cause of the Damm 0. I'm still trying to sort this out. I don't want to deal with /sdcard0 then have all my new pictures or files being stored at a new location.

Gogogo copypasta:
0 is intentional. Android 4.2.2 added the ability for multi-user support, and it divides up the internal storage accordingly. "0" belongs to the first user, "1" belongs to the second... so on and so forth. Pull what files you want to keep out of the 0 folder and onto your computer then delete it. As long as you stay on pre-4.2.2 ROMs, it won't resurface. Even if it did, it's not that big of a deal since that's where we're heading anyway with Android development.
I have looked every where for this with no luck on how to fix it yet. I flashed Rom on my HTC ONE and discover everything I had previously was gone. I check and it looks like I am running the system from a new sub folder called "0". I flashed the ROM with the latest ClockWorkMod so it was not supposed to happen. Now I have no idea how to either get rid of the sub folder "0" or the files I had/have on the actual upper folder of my system. I have looked every where for a RUU for Tmobile with no luck. Any help would be highly appreciated.
I tried mounting the device but it always point me into the inside of the folder 0 as my root directory, so no clue on what to try next.

from what i understand this is a feature of JB. I would love to delete these directories and keep them gone. they keep coming back after formatting everything in CWM. legacy, 0, emulated etc. im on carbon 1.8
Every time you flash a aosp rom aka 4.2 rom from anything less you will get another directory

It's the way the phone is set up. and when you switch between TW and AOSP roms you will create new directories. If you only going to use TW Roms, then flash the "revert back after downgrade" it will move the files back where they are supposed to be on your internal SDcard.
Sdcard is the standard 1st search location
Sdcard0 is the emulated search location
extsdcard is of course, whatever card you inserted.
If you are talking about /legacy or /emulated - leave them they are not hurting anything and they do not take up any extra room. They are symlinks pointing to a single copy of the files.
If you are taking about multiple /0/0. . . directory structures - make sure you have anything you want copied up to the /0 (only 1 zero) directory structure, and then delete the directory structures that start with /0/0 /0/0/0 etc.

Hi!
I noticed that since upgrading to Lollipop, in my folder SDCARD, I have a folder "0" wich seems to be the replicate of the folder SDCARD... it's a bit strange...
By digging a bit, I found that in /data/media/0 there is another 0 folder which is the replicate of the latter...
So first, am I the only one in this case?
Why something like this happened?
is it safe to fuse the "0" folders in media? or to delete the second one?
It's not a big deal, but this folder takes more than 1 GB of space, and I'd like to recover this lost storage.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks a lot.
That's normal. Just move the files from the 0 folder to sdcard and then you can delete it.

Thanks guys, I will fuse the two «0» folders.
I have made a full wipe in twrp and then a factory reset... That's why I was asking about this folder.
