I'm really curious as to the difference you guys have noticed in terms of overall signal, data reliability and data speeds. I am really close to buying HTC one, just am not sure if issues I am having are nexus related or T-Mobile.
Like I'd get no service all of the sudden when in the same spot I'd get 3 bars just a minute earlier. Or data dropping out with 4 bars of service at times, even though it'd be averaging 8mbps a second before. Just really odd issues and my buddy who has tmo didn't seem to have same problems.
Also, when doing speeds test on hspa+, device usually tests with a really high ping, same was the issue with galaxy nexus as well, gs2 was not like that.
I ended up getting HTC one on sprint but they royally screwed up and I am returning it Monday, besides, service was plain terrible.
I'm in DC area right now, will be moving to Atlanta next month though.

I just moved from the N4. Boy am I glad. I never thought I would buy a HTC phone yet alone one with sense. This phone is just pure awesome.
I too had those signal issues with my N4 but I do not notice them with the one. Speed wise the One is getting much better of a data signal and I am able load up things that require data much faster. Ping times with the speedtest.net app are much much lower too in the same areas I tested with my N4. On a side note in my media room my N4 would always loose signal but I have 2 bars and get a little over 2mbps down with my One.
Hope this helps.

Thank you, it does. I figured that it was the nexus as I've heard of it dropping a signal from others too. And it wouldn't make sense for it to be a service issue when there is pretty good coverage.

weird..i always get better speedtest results with the n4 than the htc one.. also checked the htc one and the galaxy s4 in the tmobile store... htc one also got lower speed results. i think the metal might be messing with the speeds...
I tend to get slightly lower speed tests on average with the One than the N4 but not dramatically so (and speedtests vary so much anyway that they're not that meaningful); empirically, the connection is no worse. Signal strength is very comparable, usually within -90(+/-5)dBm. Bars don't mean anything; different firmware converts actual signal power to bars however they feel like.
It is nice to be free of the N4's periodic data drops, though.

See, I don't really care if I get 1-2mbps less than on my nexus. What bothers me is signal drops, not even just the data, it happens very randomly it seems like. I just don't want to spend all that money on the One to still have those.

Can you notice the difference in screen resolution between the two? I would think the difference would be marginal at best.

Yes. I have HTC one for Sprint, I have yet to return it lol. Everything looks a little sharper. So the claim that human eye can't see the difference, to me, is false. It isn't a huge difference, but I can see it. More so, the difference is in colors, they look way morenatural. If you tweak settings on the nexus with saturation and brightness, it gets much better, but not like the One. It is much better in direct sunlight as well.

Makes sense. The Nexus 4 seemed washed out as well. It's not as big of a jump from going from a non-HD display to an HD display, but it enhances the experience.

Plus the battery is much better on the One. My only concern is replacing the battery down the line. I'm planning on keeping this phone for a while and don't want to be forced into a new purchase because of a battery that needs replacement.
But the Nexus 4 is still a bargain. For $300-$350, you can't beat it. The fact it's even being compared to $600 smartphones that are half a generation newer is a feat in and of itself.

It always was though, when gs3 was still pretty much new and was like $650 for a dual core CPU and nexus 4 was half that for quad...
These days things are different, hardware is usually sufficient enough to run any android skin pretty well. Sure gs4 and HTC One has much better processors, but day to day you barely see the difference. Nexus 4 is very fast partially due to stock android, and partially because real world, there isn't too much difference between it and say HTC One.
Now, I love stock, but I'm still upgrading to one. I simply am growing tired of nexus devices running crappy on T-Mobile network. From high pings during speed tests that translate to delay in initial data refresh in real world, to signal and data drops. And now, LTE. Sure, I'm running LTE on my nexus now, but it is not as stable as I want it to be, and battery does take a pretty substantial hit.

Ordered mine this afternoon, expected it to be backordered. Yet, it shipped and should be here tomorrow... Stock Nexus 4 had subpar battery for me, with different kernels it isn't bad. The Sprint HTC One that I've had for few days gave me much better battery life than Nexus 4, and that was with Sprint LTE constantly dropping and switching. If HTC One on T-Mobile is anything like Sprint version, then should be, yes.

I'm looking at them side by side right now with the same content open. The aspect ratio is a bit different in that the N4's screen is slightly wider and the One slightly longer. Text is a sharper on the One and it jumps off the screen more because there's more contrast between lights and darks. White is different, too, more bluish on the N4. I use an app that can alter RGB values on the N4, but no setting changes the nature of the whites relative to those of the stock One.
Overall, the One's visuals are more appealing to me and I write that as a satisfied user of the N4, largely because of its low price and easily customized Android experience.
Looking at a hd cityscape image, the detail and brightness of the One is plainly superior. It’s not close. The detail jumps out of the One. Tiny highrise windows are more distinguishable as one of the many obvious examples. I know that we're not supposed to be able to detect resolution differences at these pixel densities, but the One's images are instantly more defined. Some of this is probably pure resolution and some is the black/white contrast differences between the two devices.
This is the first time I've done this side by side thing with the N4 and it's striking. I'd compared the One and the Galaxy S4 in a store. My wife will be the regular user of the One. I hadn't cared that much before that it wouldn't be my daily driver. But now I feel like I'm missing out on something.
Switching back to t-mobile tonight and taking the opportunity to get the One. How would you guys say your transition from on onscreen buttons back to physical went? I love my n4 but am solid on the Ones hardware except the hardware buttons.
I too experienced the signal loss on the N4 until I hacked it to enable LTE, it was much better after that (there was decent LTE coverage where I was having signal issues but almost NO HSPA). I was also a fan of the software buttons, however.. after using the HTC One now for almost 2 weeks I am completely glad to have ditched the N4 for this phone.. everything is better, the cell reception, the screen, the sound (oh the sound!), the camera.. I even like Sense 5 MORE than Vanilla Android! (I know, crazy right?). I have always been an Android purist, I would constantly flash ROMs to get away from TouchWiz, etc. and I loved stock 4.2.2 on the Nexus 4.. but I cannot say a single bad thing about Sense 5, and Blinkfeed is awesome, as is the camera and it's features. HTC nailed it with this phone. Best phone I have ever owned, and I buy phones a LOT
What physical buttons are you talking about? Both phones have a physical power button and volume button. But nothing on the glass.

So i have an epic touch 4g , and i was thinking of picking up the photon tomorrow because the epic is f***ing massive and plastic. But the samoled is beautiful and it is smooth as butter.
So I figured i would ask some owners of the device for some honest thoughts on if it would be a good switch .

I can't tell *much* of a difference between my photon screen and my epic screen. Choice is yours in the end, but ultimately I couldn't give Samsung more money after the fail in terms of software and support of the Epic.

Well, I have had the Epic 4g and I do REALLY miss the Super AMOLED screen because it is brighter and a bit clearer than my Photon screen. I have not looked at the Epic Touch in person, however, I have been getting AT LEAST a full day with moderate to heavy use before I have to plug in my Photon. I don't know how your battery is lasting you on that, but I am not disappointed with my Photon AT ALL!
The best thing I can suggest is go to either google and check the specs of each phone, or I go to www.phonescoop.com to find the specs of the phones that I look at getting.
In the end it is up to you and what you want your phone to do.
Good luck.
I love my Photon. But there is no right phone for everyone. What it comes down to is what works for you. I thought that i would want to switch to the epic touch, but i am really happy with the Photon. It has the best signal I have had with Sprint. I use the internet alot, and with other phones there were places that it was to slow to use. The Photon doesn't have the development that other phones have, but a phone must be a phone first in my opinion.

The samoled+ is gorgeous but it feels big and cheap.
The photon handles better in hand but im concerned ghost blur will make my phone lag out like crazy like the atrix .
Also the fact they use the pentile display.

Well, I had an Epic Touch 4G for two weeks, and returned it. Not because I wasn't happy, I loved the device, but because the money was better used buying credits and working towards graduation.
That being said, the Epic 4G had great battery life for me, although it seems some on the forums have had an issue with this. I could easily get through a 12 hour work day and arrive home with 40% of my battery left and that's on moderate usage.
The radios on the ET worked pretty well for me also. Again, some people on the forums have reported otherwise. All in all, very comparable to the Epic before it. However, the device was quick to drop 4G at times.
The screen...well, it's great. I don't have the expectation that the Photon screen is in anyway going to compare, but, then again, I hear the ET's radios don't compare to those found on the Photon.
The ET is smooth as butter, it has some really cool features packed in, like a Font Switcher, that really should have been addressed by the Vanilla OS by now, in my opinion. Call quality was exceptional and all in all I don't expect the Photon to really outclass the ET in anyway.
Those are my honest interpretations of one side of that coin. Give me another two weeks, and I shall complete my thoughts.
I agree with sgtmedeiros on the signal aspect as well. The Samsung Epic 4g I had maintained good signal strength, but this phone can hold on to signal even better than the Epic could ever. A phone should be a phone first in my book as well, and what phone is a true phone if it cannot keep a decent cell signal?
If you have the money and wanna try it, then go for it. I do not believe you will be disappointed.
I'll make it real simple:
If your into rooting, modding, flashing ROMs and what the newest of the new, keep the ET4g
If your fine with stock w/root and just want a powerful, high quality and the most reliable android phone on sprint, get the photon.
I had the Nexus S before the Photon and I always had terrible signal and dropped calls. No matter how nice the screen is, I need a phone first and foremost. Plus the Photon's screen with the brightness turned all the way up isn't so bad.

True. And that's how I feel. Plus I'm excited to get back to the legendary build quality of Moto.
I've read so much praising the radio of this phone, are any of your data speeds actually faster?
Both phones are to a point where custom Roms aren't even necessary any more unless there are cool little things to add in that carriers took out.
The main issue for me will be the screen because the samoled+ is so color rich. But then again the photon is sharper.

just say no to samsung. you will be happier
Epic touch does not record video in stereo, but has 1080p, photon does, but only in 720p.
Both are excellent phones. You cannot go wrong with EITHER phone so it really just comes down to what YOU prefer. I currently have the Epic 4G Touch and did have a Photon for a month. Both phones have pros and cons. The Photon has a better radio. You get a stronger signal by far but honestly have not had any issues with the Samsung as far as getting a signal when I need it. The Photon has well documented issues with no audio on calls and random reboots. I am staying with the Samsung because I like the look and feel plus how slim it is.
I will say that more people have commented on the phone than with any other phone I have ever owned.
I personally have both phones and even though the e4gt is a really nice device and they did a nice job with the new touch wiz, and the screen colors and camera ate great I find that overall I like my photon better. The feel in my hand, Tegra zone, radio strength and speed and I do like the photon screen while not as great as the amoled plus the higher resolution is what does it for me. I do also use the webtop dock and dedicated car dock and those accesories really trend to seal the deal for me since the e4gt doesn't have them. Both are great phones and it really just comes down to personal preference.

I tried both phones. The Epic touch is a richer multimedia experience. The web pages are buttery smooth and online video streaming is a higher quality. I did notice however that on basic web pages (full and mobile sites) with both phones in 4g that photon did loaded most pages faster. Both devices are fast and packed with features. The epic touch has a better looking and larger(slightly) screen. The photon feels better in my hands. One key selling point is that the photon hands down has better call quality and radio quality. I manage a roast beef shop, but I also sale turkey, chicken, ham, shakes, fries etc... but my business is roast beef first. After all the bells and whistles a phone needs to be able to do phone stuff like clear call quality. That being said, to me the photon is the better device.
I was going thru the same thing and decided to keep my photon due to reliability.

I have a Photon, but played a lot with the Samsung. Kept the Photon. Comments:
Samsung
- Colors are over saturated - they do 'pop', but they are not accurate
- Not as big as I thought it would be - size not an issue
- Screen low resolution was the show-stopper for me; a larger screen but lower resolution? What were they thinking.
- Build too light, flimsy and plasticy
Photon
- GSM SIM a big plus to me since I travel overseas
- Photon screen is brighter and whiter
- Screen much better outside
- I keep the screen turned down to 15-20% (too bright otherwise) - battery life is awesome
- USB charging port on the wrong side - makes the kickstand useless
- Awesome radio - haven't dropped a call yet
Tried network bandwidth in the store with both phones - Photon loaded first 75% of the time
But, you know, if the Samsung had a larger qHD screen, might have gone with it!
I have the nexus but I miss sense. Had the 3d forever liked it but switched to Verizon and liked this phone but, I am so used to all the sense widgets and look. Just debating and looking for feedback on me trading out for rezound... all feedback helps....
These threads should cover it all for you:
Switched from a Nexus to a Rezound
Yet another traded my Nexus for a Rezound post (novel)
Made the Switch
Switching to the Rezound - a few questions...
May switch from nexus...have some questions
I'm about to go the other way. Started on the Rezound... Nexus is probably where I'll end up.
I have compared these two phones rather extensively. We have a VZ corporate account where I work & I am the head of it. We have close to 200 phones on the account & I set up every one of them.
I get my phones free & I can basically have any phone I want at any time. If I wanted a GN, I could have one this afternoon & we have probably 20 of them here on our account.
There is only one thing I like better about the GN(now that the Rezound has been unlocked) & that is the screen size. I like that a LOT, if I could get a phone with a 5" screen I would buy it today. That being said, there is absolutely nothing else I like about the GN compared to the awesome Rezound.
I have owned a TON of phones & the Rezound is by far the best phone I have ever used.
~John
I love my Rezound. When I came from Sprint I bought the Rezound, picked up a GN, and exchanged it after 24 hours for another Rezound.
You can get just about any senselike widget in the market for your gn. I just got rid of my nexus for the resound. It fits in my hand much better. I do miss the large screen, soft keys, aosp roms, and super active forums of the gn though. Other than that, the rezound is just more comfortable in my hand which is the main reason I returned my gn. Oh yeah and the camera sucked on the gn. The rezound has better battery life.
Switched from a Galaxy Nexus 2 weeks ago - still very happy.
I think ICS is a step backward and the GN felt cheap and clumsy to hold. Love the Rezound - just wish it had more game compatibility.
I have both phones. Each has their perks, but the Rezound is my #1.
nexus holds nothing to this phone, IMO. i sell much more of these than nexuses... or nexi. lol

Yes, still very happy with the phone. Wish it had better game support though. Also, for having an HD screen the picture quality on my Netflix is awful. Would have expected it to be the same or better than my ipad or ipod but it's quite a bit worse. The occasional screen glitch when opening or closing apps is slightly annoying but that could just be an issue with my phone and not every one though.
Overall, very satisfied with this phone. There are some features I would love to have but you could probably say the same thing about any phone.

Netflix does not display in HD on the Rezound, that is one place the Nexus is better if you care about that. I use Netflix all the time, but I have an ipad 2 for that so I don't really care.
On the other hand, I am a big time football fan & I absolutely LOVE the VZ NFL app & last I knew that app doesn't work at all in the Nexus.

I was lucky enough to have both phones for several weeks to compare and contrast. I sent the Nexus back to Verizon yesterday in favor of the Rezound. The Nexus has hardware issues that I could not live with. Specifically, the radios, the camera, and overall cheap build quality. Firmware updates and modding will never fix these issues.
I get having the Nexus for true development activities, but in terms of "real-world" functionality, the Rezound is the better device.
well I'm pretty confident I'm gonna switch. I sure appreciate everybody's input.

I just happen to stumble across this in a comparison of the Nexus & the Rezound. These are not my words, this is copied & pasted from a review online:
Advantages of the Rezound over the Nexus:
1) At first a gimmick, I really like the iBeats and software for casual listening as I travel
2) The camera is much better
3) The hardware (CPU, GPU, Screen) are better IMHO
4) I like the feel of the Rezound much better
5) MASS Storage is possible
6) I moved my Class 10 SDMHC 32GB memory card from my old phone to my new (48GB total)
7) The extended battery is about 500 mAh larger
8) My EVO 4G was very well supported by HTC
9) Highest DPI screen in a phone, ever...
Here are my thoughts on the rezound. I will preface this by stating that I was, prior to my journey to verizon, an iphone (since 2007) user, up to and I still have the 4s on AT&T. I have carried a Verizon mi-fi, 4g hotspot, droid charge (solely for hotspot and unlimited data).
I was waiting to pull the trigger on any phone until the gnex arrived. I was underwhelmed with the phone hardware. While I live in SoCal, I am surrounded by hills and Verizon coverage is weak. All signal indications aside, I couldn't hold a call or a data connection with the Gnex. Loved ICS, it was very smooth and felt "polished" to a large extent.
I finally gave up and traded in for the rezound, because I liked the specs. I also picked up a droid razr to play around with. I am having a hard time between the two. I am spoiled by the iphone's display and I think the Rez is every bit as good, if not better on my eyes. It really is like reading printed material. I like that. But, it is think and I seem to see it switching off more to 3g than the razr. I like the feeling of the razr in my hand. It feels like a mini-tablet, but yet still small enough to be a phone. (does that make sense at all). However, I don't think I can live with seeing the pixelation on the display. Just spent the last 1.5 years without it and I don't think I can go back.
The rez is a great phone, but may be too thick for me and I don't particularly care for sense. I am going to desense it and see if that solves some of my issues. I know enough to know that if I don't enjoy using the phone, I will find something else to complain about (in this case, the thickness).
Just my experience so far. These are simply my opinions, and everyone has different hot buttons.
FYI, I don't really play games or use my phone for much more than some specific apps, email, talking (yes people still do that), and browsing. The iphone did that just fine, but was getting a little long in the tooth from a UI standpoint and I just hate the AT&T network drops and dead zones.

I'm very happy with mi rezound! I bought the nexus the day it came out after lurking it forever!!!However the phone just didn't do it for me. I'm no developer or anything(never rooted before) so maybe that's why I didn't dig the nexus so much. The battery was horrid, speaker made crazy screeching noises, lost data throughout the day, screen was a bit big/grainy, pictures I took sucked though instant, and also had problems with it rebooting while charging. I miss the sweet notification light, and ICS..thats bout it. I feel like samsung didn't want this phone to be much of a beast like anticipated...look at the comparisons to the galaxy s2.
Funny story with HTC, first time I got a phone it was the motorola droid2...suckked. Being the DINC was out so long, I never even bothered to check it out...though when I returned the droid2 for the DINC I was blown away of how sick HTC is...sorta similar to my second experience when upgrading my phone.
The rezound is great, I like the smaller size and battery life(When I bike, I always put it in my gym short pockets and jam to pandora...this seems nearly impossible to do with the nexus due to its size and short battery life). Quality of pictures are outstanding! The durability of the rezound is also promising. Sense is sweet too though I mainly use goexplorer...The speaker on the rezound is great, goes so loud!(so much better than the DINC2 speaker btw). I was also surprised that the rezound comes with many features that the nexus has(e.g. ability to have no screen lock, panorama picture abilities, slowmo video taking, ability to take screen shots). Basically this phone is an DINC on steroids...or maybe after going through puberty?
Reading these posts makes me glad i got rid of my nexus.

where did you find that?
currently have a sensation with tmobile. my wife has att service and an iphone. so i'm thinking of cancelling my tmobile service and adding a line to her att service and getting the note.
questions...
i've read the typical horror stories about att service. i live in seattle which is a big verizon/tmobile area. i know this isn't an LTE area but will i really regret moving from tmobile to att?
i've looked at the specs for the one x that's coming out... doesn't seem like it's worth waiting for over the note. i don't really keep up with what's coming out anymore. are there any other phones coming out in the next few months that are tempting you guys to move over to from the note?
for those you that have flashed a new rom... what are you guys running?
thanks
I'm sorry but HTC has a bad habit of releasing good looking phones riddled with problems. HTC titan, HTC inspire, HTC thunderbolt, HTC Droid incredible, are just a few to come to mind.
The HTC titan was released 3-4 months ago, and not the HTC titan 2 will be out next week.... The reason for this is a design flaw in the HTC titan. Instead of fixing the old phone, they will just release a new one....
STAY AWAY FROM HTC!
just my opinion..
I say give it a try as long as the monthly plan price isn't too much higher with AT&T. Coming from Sprint, I've been impressed with the data speeds, even on 3G. You also have a 30 day window to check out the phone, so you can always cancel before then.
As for other phones, I had the Evo 4g and Evo 3D prior...I liked both phones actually and I really liked the development community for them, which was huge. I'd say Samsung screens are much better at this point.
I saw it on drippler earlier today that if you're willing to root and flash they have hacked the note to use Tmobile freq
Sent from a rock on fire in the middle of the sea
I have a sensation and a note sitting in front of me.
As far as coverage, that really depends on the area. Here, ATT 4G (Not LTE) is seriously 8 to 10 times faster than t-mobile.
As to everything else, I think the note is a far better phone, and I like the Sensation. The only thing that will disappoint you is going back to Gingerbread, assuming you're running ICS on the Sensation. The Note needs ICS BADLY, it's an abortion that it doesn't have it yet.
Also, if you don't mind rooting/modding, you can actually use the note on T-Mobile as well. I just verified it with my T-Mobile Monthly 4G sim.
Once the one x is out and people see that it won't last 8 hours with medium/heavy use it wont be so popular..
only you can answer the tmobile/at&t coverage thing since that is different depending on where you live..you can hack the AT&T Note to work on tmobile so thats a bonus.
the only phone i see really appealing is the SGS3 but that doesnt have a 5.3 screen so probably have to wait for Note 2.
Coming Samsung Captivate and being using my sister's sensation on tmobile...I just got my note yesterday and it amazing...I dont know about your network, but the phone itself blows everything else out there...its sleek, so light, the screen resolution is effing awesome...i saw 35 and 36 mbps in my area on LTE...so thats a bonus...even H+ was 5-6 mbps all the time...whereas my sister's Sensation varies from less 1mbps to 4-5 mbps...
get the note. int or att version. either one rules... att coverage rocks in my area 30 miles east of dallas tx.. even out in the sticks where I live. att still pulls 3 to 5 d on hspa+.. on my int note. Im gonna stick with my int note til the note 2 comes out. I cant see going back to anything smaller or with crappy batt life..

I just verified it with my T-Mobile Monthly 4G sim.

i don't mind rooting. i just don't want a half implemented solution to get it to work. i'll have to go back and look at the thread(s) on here about the tmobile 4g fix. when you tested with your tmobile sim what kind of speeds did you get? did it actually indicate you had a 4g connection?
i was using ICS on my sensation but never found a rom i liked. i used virtuous for awhile but went back to gingerbread. so that won't be too big of a deal for me. but i do get what you're saying.
do you find that carrying the note is a problem? is it really too big?
At this point I would just wait for the HTC One X or that Galaxy S3.
Issues with my note:
>severe color banding in dark scenes for videos
>below average battery life (above average standby time)
>screen aspect ratio is bad. causes some apps to detect the phone as a tablet which ruins things like Google Music (which I use all the time)
>Not a krait SoC. This means it lags behind the international Note and the upcoming HTC One X (Krait w/ LTE) and the GS3 (exynos w/ LTE)
>the S Pen is not very accurate. It can definitely be fun. But it's also not something that should be taken seriously by any artist if it can't even be calibrated properly
>has the worst shutter lag for taking photos
I also think it's too big in general. Not by much. Not too much that I wouldn't use something of it's size, but now that I've owned a wide range of devices with different screen sizes, I feel that 4.5 - 4.8" is the sweet spot.
And remember...thats only his opinion. Not all of the NOTES have the issues he listed. Once you go Note, you'd say 4 inches a joke.
-On another NOTE, Samsung goes 5.3"

Love the size of the screen. Its the main selling point of the phone for me. The high resolution 5.3 inch screen is perfect for watching the occasional YouTube video and reading up on my 200+ articles a day from Google Reader.

I had a Galaxy Nexus and returned it like most to get the Rezound. I liked the screen of the Nexus, the feel of it, etc. Didn't like how long the ringtones where, vibration, etc. I look back and I was being picky. Now that every dev is leaving here, are still sticking with the Rez or you moving to a more supported phone? I'm thinking about getting that GNEX again....hmmm?
Depends if you are a flashaholic. If you prefer flashing at least one rom a day and having jellybean now then go with the nexus. Otherwise if you are satisfied with having the best screen best camera great 4G reception but not on the latest rom then go with the Rezound.

I'd say 4g reception is identicle... It's the cdma radios that Samsung can't get right not the LTE
You can have a Nexus and not be a flashaholic, I'm not.
I hate to sound like a Nexus fanboy but after having both phones, I have a hard time not suggesting you to stick with the Nexus.
The only things I can honestly give in the Rezound's favor is better cameras, sturdier feeling phone (excluding extended batteries), slightly better audio quality and slightly better data speeds.
That last one varies by phone I think, I got higher 4G speeds on my Rezound but higher 3G on my Nexus.
My average 4G on Rezound was 15-20down and 8-12up.
Average 4G on Nexus is 8-15down and 5-10up.
3G speeds are much less of a difference but Nexus is always higher.
Development is one sided towards Nexus but Rezound does have life in it still.
All personal preference in the end

I've been doing some thinking too. HTC will never be open source with their m10 source code. That's really going to drive me away from theming the phone. If it wasn't for slimrom right now and the battery life it offers, I'd probably already have jumped ship. Let's face it. Samsung seems way more open source.

Rezound, all of the way. More power, better screen, better camera, better audio (not beats), and cooler look.

I think mileage here varies. My wife has a Nexus, I have a Rezound, anytime we compare 4G signals hers is always lower and has gotten fairly regular lost connections when I have no issue. A lot of that though has to do with the hardware in the specific phone you get, I have seen horror stories on here about issues with bad hardware in both phones.

This has been pissing me off for 2 years now since I went to a 4G/LTE phone. Although I don't use Google Voice. Happened with my LG Revolution and now with the Rezound GB and ICS and pisses me off to no end. Never had any radio issues with a 3G/EVDO phone. I absolutely effin refuse to get a iphone and also had the sad experience of a HP/Palm Pre Plus. So it is Android or bust. I also have unlimited data so there is another reason never to switch or upgrade til something really good comes along.
(in cleveland, oh if that has anything to do with it)
I just bought a Nexus and think I'll be selling the Rezound. I love the speed of aosp and the development, ie jellybean. I'll miss the camera of the Rezound though for sure

problem is, if you can't grab LTE, you'll never HAVE LTE. when my rezound gets 4g all the time, my nexus won't even grab on to it....at all. my nexus also gets like 10 dbm higher than the rezound at all times. rezound=better radio better antenna

Yea, but aren't the radio's separate? Isn't there two physical chipsets? I haven't really heard about 4g problems on the Nexus that all other 4g phones don't have. I'm not arguing, but more on the worried side. I had a nexus and sold it. At the time my area didn't have LTE and now I do. I miss the screen size and roms badly. I got it back for a good price and hope that I can grab LTE then again the tower is 2 miles from my house. If I worked for Verizon though although where I live is sem-populated I'm shocked we have one when there are areas of Pittsburgh that doesn't...
Another thing with the nexus is that when I saw the one in the store it has the Google search bar and the app drawer button burned into the screen when I opened a white webpage. Very disconcerting.

There is a nexus in one of our local VZ outlets showing that same problem....
well, the rezound for sure has a better camera, and from what I've seen a more reliable connection... the Nexus screen is better (although I don't know if it is as poor about the battery with screen on)
that's about it, if they were the same price I would've went nexus.

Also, the nexus does't have an SD card.

Sent from my Clean ROM DE 1.4 Rezound
Before I begin please let me say that his is not meant in an way to bash HTC, the Rezound, nor this community in any way. This is simply a review, if you will, comparing the two. I loved the Rezound so I wanted to give my $.02
Let's start with the physical appearance. (I'll including screen review with hardware) There are two things that are quite obvious: The GSIII is, of course, a larger screen at 4.8" with the Rez at a 4.3". The S3 seems to have a smaller bezel in comparison which is certainly made possible due to one thing I've always wanted to have: No Verizon branding on the front. The Galaxy S III simply has "SAMSUNG" resting below the main ear piece and between the LED and the sensors/camera. While the HTC Rezound has four red soft keys at the bottom, the GSIII as an oval home button and that is all you see. When the phone is on, you are greeted with a menu key on the left and back on the right, both giving a soft white glow. I've sat there for about twenty minutes trying to see any kind of outline for the keys and found none. I have to tip my hat to Samsung for making them "discrete."
The Rezound has the power button on the right corner of the top of the phone, making it very easily accessible with it's 4.3" display. The GSIII has the power button on the right side of the phone closer to the top, making it easy to hold your phone and keep your thumb either on or around the button. (The home key is a hard key, not soft, so it can be used to turn your screen on.) The volume rocker is a single piece that can be easily pushed in either direction. While the rocker on the Rezound seemed a bit low profile, the GSIII's sticks out nicely and doesn't give me an trouble.
The back of the GSIII is made of polycarbonate, giving it a nice "firm" feeling instead of the traditional cheap plastic feel. Since you hold the phone more towards the bottom, Samsung has put the speaker next to the camera, whereas the Rezound had it at the bottom. This was never a problem for me with the Rezound due to how I held it, but I no some people aren't a fan, saying it's placement was awkward. I will say that it provides a lot of noise that's clear and doesn't sound too distorted, as opposed to the Rezound where I felt like it was somewhat muted and crackly. The Rez sports a dual-LED flash while the GSIII has a single. Now, while it seems that the flash on the GSIII is brighter, I've noticed a big issue: It sits kind of "low." Because of that, when I have my flash turned on I have light spilling out at the top through the gap between the battery door and the phone. While this isn't bothersome since you can't see it from the front of the phone, it is annoying because it doesn't flow with the polished design that Samsung tried to give.
Now, hardware!
The Galaxy S III has a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 CPU that clocks in at 1.4GHz, while the Rezound uses a Snapdragon S3 clocked in at 1.5GHz. For those that aren't too familiar with CPUs: Even though the Rez is clocked in a .1 higher, the S4 is newer and has the upper hand. The GSIII has 2GB of RAM (while the international version just has 1GB but a quad-core over dual) and the Rezound has 1GB. I've come to quickly realize it's because of how much memory Touchwiz uses. At the moment of me typing this, I have every app closed on my GSIII (minus the launcher) and I have 803MB of my RAM used. That being said, I never run into an issue of almost running out of RAM (I'll get into management later when I review software.)
Both phones use 8MP camera on the rear capable of recording in HD. However, as known, a higher MP count does not automatically mean a better camera. No matter what ROM I use, I seem to have issues getting my GSIII to focus from time to time. Even when I can get it to focus, it just seems that the Rezound takes a slightly better picture. I would post comparison shots but I no longer have my Rezound.
Now, for the screens. The Rez uses a 720p SuperLCD IPS display and packs a whopping 342DPI, making it one of the best displays out. The GSIII uses an HD Super AMOLED with a 720p resolution. While it has a smaller DPI count (320) it provides very crisp (but not as sharp compared to the Rez) images with "true" colors. I did a side-by-side comparison of a few images at full brightness and the GSIII was superior. Now, as I said though, it isn't as "crisp" as the rezound. However, unless you have the phone an inch from your eyes, you can't really tell.
On a side note, I would like to point out that the radio isn't as bad as everyone was saying it is. I've honestly noticed no difference in signal strength from my Rezound to my GSIII.
EDIT: Forgot to talk about battery life. The Rezound has a 1,620mAh battery while the GSIII has a whopping 2,100mAh. The difference is understandable given the screen size. However, I've noticed that with LTE on, screen at max brightness, and all of the motion controls and "Smart" actions, I'll get around 12 hours with a screen on of about 3 1/2 hours and be at about 25-30%. And AOSP battery life just isn't fair lol.
Software! When it boils down to it, we mainly care about our user experience and how quickly we can get things done. Since the GSIII is using newer hardware, I'll just point out features (With Sense 4, to make it fair.)
Sense 4 out of the box is customizable compared to other OEM skins. Being able to swap skins on the fly is very handy. The only issue I ever had was not being able to swap individual components (Navbars, clocks, lock rings, etc.) but still loved the fact that I could. My biggest pet peeve with Sense 4 relates to animations and the fact that they only really happen when you're using Rosie. If you use Rosie and open Messages, you get something along the lines of a flying out animation. A simple animation that's nice, but I don't know why HTC restricted it to Rosie. Stock TouchWiz implements the AOSP ICS animations that are very fluid, giving the UI a nice snappy-feel while keeping it smooth. When it comes to sharing in Sense 4, you have a lot of standard options. An example being Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Email, Picasa...but I always hated that it missed a simple one system-wide: Texting. I wasn't a fan of how it was selective about what you could share via text (such as facebook photos and photos from different websites) so I have to give this one to TouchWiz seeing as it gives you every option you can think of at all times.
While Sense 4 does provide a nice user experience with the apps included and how you can stream (just as on previous iterations), Samsung upped the ante for all other OEMs with a flood of amazing user-friendly features (possibly in response to Apple saying "You don't innovate.") Your GSIII is sitting in another room and you get a text? As soon as you come back and pick up your phone, it will vibrate to let you know you have a notification then flash a blue LED to let you know it's a text. Get a text that says "Call me?" you just swing your phone up to your ear and the phone will automatically call that person (can also be done while just viewing the contact.) You have the ability to be playing a video on your phone and just have it "popped up" in the corner of your screen so you can watch it while, say, typing an e-mail. The limitation I've noticed is it has to be a video saved on your phone. Another interesting thing I've found is being able to set the vibration pattern for a single contact or groups. You have a few stock patterns but have the option to make your own very easily. The way the S3's task manager handles things seems to be a bit more solid than others. I never notice an choking of my system. Doesn't matter much, seeing as a fresh application still loads like it had been quietly running the entire time.
In short, Sense 4 is a great UI experience compared to earlier versions of Blur, Touchwiz, and Sense itself. But Samsung really went the extra step with "Nature UX" to blow the competition out of the water. While I do understand that many don't like the color scheme of Touchwiz/Nature UX (whatever you want to call it.) but it is by far the best UI I've ever dealt with. It's smooth, VERY smooth and provides features that simply make you and your phone feel more connected.
This all being said and done, I love this phone. How it feels in my hand, the styling of it, the hardware. I haven't had a Samsung since the first Omnia running WM 6.1 and I have to say I'm more than impressed and very happy.
Thank you for this, make me more jelly lmao

Yeah, that's one of the reasons why I turned down the Nexus and went for a GSIII. That and I heard the III had better battery life so I figured "why not?" I don't think a leak has come out for the GS3 for Jellybean. Well, one has for the T-Mobile version but not Verizon's. Glad to hear it helped you out, though. And thanks! Yeah. The viewing angle and sharpness are better, but I love color depth, so I'm sold. First time I pulled up Power Amp on my GSIII my eyes were in love haha. The main theme is black with blue trim so it looks stunning.

Some people just automatically think that because a thread is about a different phone that it's the worst thing in the world, even if it is to inform people. You're probably right, though. Can a mod just move the OP into that thread or should I just flag this one to be deleted and post the review in that thread?

I just love the simplicity of TouchWiz, really lol. I can understand different tastes. Just send your S3 in to Samsung (if you have warranty.) I have great service with mine. I found out I'm pulling faster speeds, actually. I managed to hit 39.6/14.1
Glad the OP likes his new phone but I always get the feeling when I read things like this whether the person is trying to convince him or herself rather than us that they made a good purchase. Don't get me wrong, I think we all have that need especially when it comes to electronics. It's funny to see how the GNote2 blows the GS3 out of the water already so shortly after the latter's release and if the rumors are true about LG's next superphone it seems like we will only have to wait a short while before the latest Galaxies are a distant memory again. If only I was a celebrity..I'd show my face on each and every one of these new device announcements just to get the freebies.
@ all: I would just remind you a couple of things:
1st Do not try to make Mod job, if you don't like a thread just refrain yourself to post no sense words.
2nd Moderate your language, words like dbag or fag are not tollerated against another user.
Thank you.
I see ive been moderated.......oops!
Anyway, thanks for posting the review. Ive been looking at the gs3 too.
I think we all knew how this story, ahem review was going to turn out. I doubt a flagship device such as the SG3 was going to lose out in this comparison. Just the fact that its a shiny new toy wins it a few brownie points. That being said I think the rezound still holds up well after almost a year since release, and now that we have kernel source and fully functional AOSP on the near horizon our little device has never looked better

The galaxy nexus is also a good option to switch to. The new jellybean radios are nothing short of a miracle. No data drops, crazy speeds, and great reception now. Its smoother than touchwiz especially on jellybean. New radios also improved battery a ton. They are also much more likely to exchange a defective rezound for the nexus as well.
