So basically i let my friend borrow my Galaxy Player 5.0 and his little brother messed up and did the pattern lock too many times. I don't have it connected to my Wi-Fi and i need it to login to the gmail account to bypass the lockscreen.

Only thing I can think of would be to boot into recovery and factory reset. Sorry

No problem. Thanks for the advice anyways preferably not to reset because he has a lot of data and games saved on it.
Im pretty sure that if you factory reset it the data on the sd will remain, some games wont keep the saves tho

Reboot to recovery and you'll be able to use ADB. Using ADB you can crack the password; read the instructions on how to crack the password here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800799

That actually doesn't work. As soon as you try to do a factory reset, it will ask you for a the pattern/password. It's like this so that people can't just steal your device and flash a new rom to unlock it.

No it won't... the password is all in userspace-land, has nothing to do with the lower levels of the device like the recovery.
Didn't the FBI have to subpoena Google, recently, to get a guys Gmail login and password because they couldn't crack the pattern passcode lock? To answer my own question. Yes, yes they did. Lol. Ha! But that's bad news for OP.

If you're rooted you can make nandroid backup
Than wipe data
After you do that reboot. Setup your device with your Google account
Than go to the Google play and download an app called "Nandroid Manager" it's free but you can buy a pro version which adds a few more things you can do
(this app let's you restore your apps individualy without having to restore the the lockscreen password, as oppose to restoring through clockwork recovery)
I hope this will help you

Is there a way to change my email?
I just created my new gmail, i thought my old one was a bit too... childish name... so anyways How would I remove the other one and add this new one
Obviously you can odin and then reflash to CM7 and add a new account, but Is there a way to just do it without odin?
Go to Settings/Account and sync; there is an option to add a new account.

but can i completely remove the other one after adding the new one?
edit: added my new accoyunt but cannot remove the original
tells me i have to reset phone to factory default.
ANY other way?
sorry dude, as far as i know you have to reflash.
why not just use both?
I have 3.
Set your old one to only sync gmail (assuming people are still emailing it).
I imagine all your paid apps are tied to it also.
Only way: reset phone to factory default.
Remember backup first.

I'm an organized guy, i really don't like having things i'll never use.
Thanks guys, I odin'd haven't used odin in over 3 months thanks to CM7 haha.
time to root, and then install clockwork recovery and flash cm7 *sigh*
^ if you use my guide, you probably don't need to since you've been here, I'd be curious how it flows for you.
also, having multiple gmail accounts does not hinder organization, at all. I know because I am crazy A-type.

Why would you Odin? In cwm, wipe data/factory reset will get you to where you need to be.

I guessed my phone needed a little freshening so i odin'd and now im good.
thanks all.
Exactly? My phone is currently unlocked and rooted. What is going to happen if i do a factory reset (inside settings menu)? Will it unroot and un-unlock? Thanks in advance.
Sent from my GT-I9100M using XDA App
Nope, it'll just wipe user data (apps), settings and everything else. It'll put your phone just like the same as if you just took it out of the box.
It doesn't unroot nor unlock the phone.
So the CWM app will remain on the phone?
Say the phone is already reset, will i be able to find and install all my apps in the market after i log in to my google account?
Sent from my GT-I9100M using XDA App
Should do, and all contacts should be restored if you backup to google...

So I flashed a gummy ics from to my friends fascinate. Had a bit of trouble with the restore, unfortunately losing the contacts. It still runs a bit slow and all the programs lag and force close. I've ran fix permissions countless times. Any suggestions?

Thanks man, I'll try that stuff when I get home. With doing the wipe, if I do a backup of all the apps and app data, doesnt that kind of make the data wipe redundant?

depends on your back up methods. i use google to back up contacts and tibu to back up apps. after a data wipe i just resync goole and restore app only(no app data) from tibu and your back in business.
I always bypass the Google account, to do an app restore first. Only restore the data portion of the apps that are most important. Like a checkbook app, dolphin, Tapatalk, etc. The rest be sure to just restore the app.
One that's done add your Google account and let the contacts sync, etc.

Funny situation is going on there mate. If sync is enabled (background sync+gmail sync) and when u have a 'working' connection, it should trigger and sync on every task u do.
Possible multiple things u can try :
-Wipe gmail app
-Reinstall gmail or update or anything that changes ur current gmail version
- last case scenario, wipe whole phone and reinstall rom or diff firmware?
Thats all i can say since its a rare issue indeed

This happened to me on my tablet before we got CWM and I was pushing my mods. It's just something corrupt. Reinstall the Google Apps and clear your dilvak cache. If that dosent do it. Its wipe time.

Hello people,
I know there is a mod to disable security on stock email exchange app, but I am not able to find the single mod to use/install/flash over the current setup I have. Some ROMs feature this mod as a standard, but not ARHD.
Can anyone show me the right way or tell me how to get this mod to work on the note 2?
Here you go:
http://db.tt/347dsPGQ
You need to copy it to system/apps/ the change permissions to rw, r, r and owner to root/root. Use something like root explorer.
Then reboot into recovery wipe dalvik cache and reboot.
Also make sure you remove all exchange accounts before coping thw file.

Exactly which Exchange Security features are disabled?
All of them?
Does it prevent the admin from executing a remote wipe?
Any documentation I can look at?

+1. Would like to know what exactly is disabled. I'm kinda freaked by the possibility of someone remotely erasing my device or forcing me to use pin/password etc.

It will only disable the need for a pin lock. The device administration is still active.

Thanks Dekala, that answers my question. Unfortunately this means for my purposes this hack is useless.
For the rest of you that share my sentiment over Information Security Personnel having the ability to wipe your device remotely, there is a "lesser" evil.
That is, buy Touchdown HD. Though I havent tested it yet, from what I've read so far, if the Admins decide to remotely wipe your device, it will only wipe the Touchdown Exchange Account files. It wont wipe your device, just the corporate mail account files.
