Phone is a ATT one X, sim unlocked, X-Factor root exploit done, TWRP2.4.10.
I installed SuperSU and get this error;
"there is no SU binary installed and Super SU cannot install it"
What's going on?
I'm new to the X1 but accomplished all the above with no problems
Thanks
This is the forum for the T-Mobile HTC One, you want the ATT HTC One X/ One XL forum.
You could probably fix that by flashing a superuser zip in recovery though. http://downloads.noshufou.netdna-cdn.com/superuser/Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip

Hi everybody,
I recently bought an Incredible S and upgraded it to GB 2.3.3
And like I do with every phone I want to root it, but I couldn't find any methods to do so, I have tried many, like GingerBreak SuperOneClick etc.
I did manage however to get it S-OFF, so I won't be needing help on that, just the rooting part, please help!
-Dennis
P.S. sorry for the title, I meant 2.3.3 not 3.2.2
You could simply edit the title of your post. Anyways since you said that you have S-OFF, i'm guessing that you used the Revolutionary Tool to gain it. Using that should have installed ClockworkMod Recovery. All you need to do now is boot into recovery (ClockworkMod) and flash superuser (Flashable zip attached).
Yes I used that one and I have installed Clockworkmod, I'm gonna try that now thanks! And thanks for quick reply
I get this error: "An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" can't I get into Recovery mode manually? If so how?
OMG You're awesome! I got it! My phone is finally rooted! I went into Recovery Mode through HBOOT btw.
install a Clockworkmod and flash a rom will be OK

I'll try to understand what you're saying. I guess you're asking if it will root your HTC Incredible S (UK Version). If you have ClockworkMod recovery installed (along with S-OFF), then yes. Check out this thread for more information to root your device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122694 but first you must use Revolutionary to gain S-OFF if not done already which can be found here: http://revolutionary.io/ .
You guys (that are asking how to root) should just read up in the Incredible S subforum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1025
Everything about how to root the device has been asked before, and answered. All the info is there. Just start reading, and use the "search" function. Spend some time in the subforum for your device, and you will be an expert in no time.
Nice

I unlocked my LTE using the HTC Developers method. All went smooth and my phone says it's unlocked - but I can't do a thing now that I couldn't before.
BusyBox won't install. FAIL
SuperUser won't install and update - ERROR / FAIL
Tried flashing TeamWin Recovery and while it never gives any error and it seems to do everything it should - I can't get into Recovery. I just get the HTC screen followed by a RED triangle or a reboot. Did this through Goo as well as with Fastboot and never any errors but while Recovery is an option in my Hboot - it jut leads to a red triangle or a reboot.
I tried re-locking and unlocking which again went without a hitch - but still no luck with superuser, busybox, teamwin recovery, Titanium Backup.
Any HELP would be sooooo appreciated.
Thanks,
Jack
if you just did the dev unlock, I think you just unlocked your bootloader. You still to root to install SU and actually do anything.
Sounds like you didn't root.

Root, unlock bootloader and S-OFF seem to have separate procedures.
On the twrp thread it says nothing about needing to root it just says to htc unlock and install via goomanager.
How did you get activation email from Htcdev? I've tried 5 different emails and usernames. Still nothing.

it assumes that one would know that one has to have root in order to flash a custom recovery and install superuser.
*Edit: I was mistaken. It would seem that you don't need root to flash recovery, at least on the One X (which is similar). So, I'm not sure what the problem is.
Do you need to unlock the bootloader first, or root first? Or does the order not matter?

right, but you need root in order to USE goomanager. The way to install a custom recovery without root is to unlock bootloader and flash recovery thru fastboot (and THEN use recovery to flash SU). That is the more common/conventional (i.e. oldschool) method.

I've rooted several LTE's w/ DirtyRancun, but it only shows working on 3.17.651.3 and under. Can anyone confirm if it will work on 3.17.651.4? I'm trying to achieve s-off and also root a phone. Thanks so much!

Might want to check the Rumrunner thread (it's for software version 3.17). I know Dirty Racun will work, but there is some hex editing of a file that has to be done so it recognizes the newer software version.

Thanks. I've been trying Rumrunner. It says the requirement is to be HTC unlocked OR rooted. I'm not rooted, but I did unlock the bootloader. Now I'm getting this error:
ERROR: looks like device is not rooted AND lacks an unsecure kernel. su or FU!!!
Do I have to root before I can run this?

Not sure why you would unlock but not root. At any rate, you can easily root by installing the SuperSU app, or by flashing the su binary zip in recovery (assuming you installed a custom recovery and aren't stock). You'll also need to have Busybox installed. I have both in flashable zip form in the "My Files" link in my sig. Just click on the EVO LTE folder and you'll see the files. Download both and flash in recovery.
Is anyone having issues getting the weaksauce 1.0.1 temp root app to work on at&t m8 ?
I keep getting root failed but they list its supposed to do that on the at&t version, but I cant get the supersu to work ?
Everytime the supersu lists the following " There is no su binary installed, and supersu cannot install it. This is a problem! " and all I can do is hit ok and supersu just closes. I checked with the root checker app and it shows Superuser application in not installed ? So its not picking up the super su ?
Anyone ? The weaksauce xda forum is closed so you cant ask questions there so where do you ask then ?

I tried weaksause, temproot etc.. and was getting similar errors.. and finally decided to just use the all-in-one tool kit.. which did it for me quite well.
Steps to be followed are..
1. Unlock your bootloader from HTCdev
2. Root using all in one tool kit.(install custom recovery). Also install suprersu from the playstore after you root.
3. S-off using firewater. (use the first method listed there).
4. profit.
5. Hit the thanks button if this helped you
Weaksauce wouldnt work for me kept having supersu issues so I finally gave up and used htcdev.
Firewater it took me 5 times following a youtube video finally tossed the video and went to firewater turned out firewater requires either 3g, 4g, lte or wifi connection on the phone and video did not mention that so I signed on to wifi and sure enough it worked, so much for youtube videos on how to firewater s-off. Was just a waste of my time.

Yes I knew how to do all that, but the weaksauce keeps htc from knowing your rooted and voiding your warranty. Using htcdev just gives them an excuse to get out of any warranty issues because they can blame them on the phone being rooted.

If you think you are gonna need your warranty.. then yes.. you have no other option at the moment AFAIK
I just got another DNA and decided this time to mod it. I hated it stock and bloated. So anyway I did the rumrunner s-off method to unlock and root and everything is going good and I installed the NuSenseSIX Htc m8 port and it's beautiful. Props. But there's an app called trickster mod that I tried to go into and says I don't have root. So I go into superSU and it says I'm missing the SU binaries and that I need to manually 're root it. But Idk if I should do it the same way cause I used the s-off thing or if I should use the htc universal toolkit or something. Any advice would be very helpful
