I have cm7 running on my tablet and it runs great, but Im wondering why no one has bothered to use its drivers and stuff to port something like Miui or even post up themed tweaked versions of CM7?
Cozy its stilling its alpha stage. Wait for it to become a final version and u will sweethis forum filled up with custom rom's and such...

Well, at least a public RC. I'm more interested in CM9.
Sent from my very "non-stock" TP.
Leoisright had a good rom going, but it's in closed testing now because of all the idiots not reading directions/ bashing his work.

Would this qualify as a tweaked version of CM7?

i was thinking about this the other day, isn't it taking alot longer than usual, compared to let's say a HD2? That initial hype of porting Android on to the touchpad seems to have died down.
not saying this in an impatient way or demoralizing developers and their hard work, cuz they are doing one heck of a job to get peoplewhat they want most of all on their fondle slab
....is it because not many developers are interested in the touchpad?...couldn't get hold if one?
That said HP's new move of selling touchpads only to developers might work in favour of getting some momentum to port Android on it

Once we get the ics source all this will be null... Hopefully

I'd be really interested in seeing a Sense ROM ported from the Puccini/Jetstream. A lot of the hardware is apparently quite similar, and it'd probably make for a better tablet-ified experience while we wait for ICS.
Although, with ICS so close, it's probably not worth it.

ICS source comes out in a couple weeks.
It would be pointless to spend weeks working on a port of something, if the new version comes out shortly.
Devs are just waiting for ICS source to drop.
Plus the HD2 was a totally different scenario.
It was made by one of the largest android phone makers, and the hardware in the phone was similar to its android counterparts.
Why don't you make us one minds?

the Touchpad is not an android tablet!!!
It is a WebOS tablet.
It takes a lot of work to get a different OS working properly.
name me other tablets that have stable android and did not come stock with android.
don't forget the people working on this are not getting paid.
This is not their day job.

B&N uses a modified version of FroYo for the Nook Color. Source is available for the kernel.
I think another factor is the Touchpad is not easily accessible for some people. Maybe it was easy to get yours, but I had a little bit of trouble. Missed the sales and ended up paying more for mine.

I'm happy with what has been posted so far from CM. I haven't had a lot of issues with what has been released. I guess I have too much going on to be concerned with changes to the touchpad. I can patiently wait for ICS to be released. I'd have to imagine it will be easier to work with since it ICS is designed with tablets in mind.

Just kidding.....
By all means, try doing it.... You have my best wishes.
really i don't think so bcoz it have Qualcomm 7x27A chips but it depend on mother board too.....
I know it'll be unlikely unless LG release a 7x27a windows phone too, its usually much easier to port from the same manufacturer!
But I can dream, I use launcher7 as my daily launcher...

Although it is likely than possible isn't one developer in the process of bringing to lg forums,a windows based rom. If I'm not mistaken I believe its based on cm9, cfjames ? Maybe that's wrong ? I'm not for or against anything new and it all sounds like a good idea but windows sucks anyhow....I'd still try the rom out, always down for testing bit as of right now my stock rom is blackbird v1.2-beta1 with LG home 2.3.4

It wont be impossible as long as its compatible armv6...
We have had a port of Optimus Net which was MSM7227T...
But for it, we need to work as a team... cuz we will need WP7 compatible bootloader... ryt now we can only boot android...
Also, it will be a pain is the a$$ due to lack of WP compatible system files etc..
Remember, theres no source available n thats gonna be tough...

If it boots and basic features (touchscreen) work, can I test it?(PM link) I don't care how buggy it is, just wanna test it:d:d:d

Haha its an Android based rom definately! I don't think its posible at the moment to build a rom based off Windows 6.5-7.5 operating systems yet... its not openly sourced like Android.

Hi gang.
Here is an idea brewing in my head. I know it will spin your head. I am embarking on a mission to bring AOSP to this forsaken land... Fair warning. As you see, there is no "recognized developer" tag underneath my name and for a good reason, I am not one! An average newb here as far as AOSP deving is concerned. I do know the very basics, I did build a couple AOSP builds for the Dinc2 and Transformer prime, but that was trivial as those devices were already supported. This device is not. So, I'll need to figure out how to first setup the environment for this and then learn to make a kernel from the source HTC has (if they released it that is).
So, anyone here who can point me to the right direction to kick this off!?
This thread is intended to be a platform for all those interested in helping bring AOSP to our device. Any and all helpful suggestions in this regard will be appreciated!
Hell yeah! I'm pretty sure if we all pull together we can get something cooking. I was wondering though obviously we aren't on jelly bean. Would it be easier to build an ics cm9 and then add select features like the lock screen, camera, animations etc?

Dunno. I was actually thinking if it is better to build Jellybean 4.1 rather than the latest and greatest 4.2.1. But if there aren't significant changes, may be we can pull off a 4.2 build. I just want to first learn to compile AOSP so that it even boots. I believe I need to mod files to build it for our environment... I wonder where I can learn this stuff..
Nits, Andy, help please!
My new laptop is running Windows 8 and I believe it will be a PITA to get Linux running natively on that due to the UEFI fiasco... I wonder if VM linux will be as fast as native... If not, I'll use my current machine to build and use the new one to due my regular stuff...

Im pretty sure you can get android apps to work in ubuntu if you use multiarch.
Ubuntu OS is meant to run on Android (multi-core devices) only I believe. So if you meet this requirement you will get this They also mentioned that other flavors of linux will be released. (Not supported by Ubuntu however)

If you are satisfied with running Ubuntu in parallel with Android, you can always make an Ubuntu ROM yourself, following my HOWTO in my signature.

i think it will need a couple of weeks untill ubuntu "custom roms" will be portet to non nexus devices, because teh only devices that r officially supportet by ubuntu phone are the nexus 4 and the galaxy nexus.
You should know that Ubuntu Phone needs high resources to run on any devices.
There r few Devs at the moment that know how to port this on any device, and most of this r the devs of Ubuntu itself.
I would not name Ubuntu Phone a custom rom because it's not based on Android => it's a mobile OS based on linux but not on android
The first UbuntuPhones will be selled much later there are no at the moment

There was an old mod where someone emulated windows xp. It was unbearably slow so there's no point.
Android is better then windows because it's Linux based anyway. People have had trouble porting Ubuntu to android so its hard enough.
If you want windows why not buy a windows phone?

you mean that if i install 4.2.2 in my amaze or JB it will not worked fully as the original because of we still have not an updated kernel fully compatible with JB
Amm yes right,
There are only official ICS Roms are working fully with all features..
But if you want JB feel then you must go to any CM or AOKP based roms because there is no kernal officially we have for JB or even the source code for the kernal..
To work 100%
And every CM or any other AOKP are little buggy... I mean little... very minor..
But that's true..
But after all I love JB because if see the bugs they are ok for me... I can tolerate them in my daily life..
You may check any those Roms for bugs and if you want those features you may go for that...
