Hi there,
I have a I9100 which was running the samsung stock Android 4.0.4 on the 3 network in the UK which I installed CWrecovery on and rooted. I downloaded an official update via the system update function yesterday and continued installing the update not thinking the root would effect anything, however the the install got stuck on the install screen (like the image attached) while constantly flashing on and off every 3-4 seconds, I pulled the battery after and hour or so. When I power on now it just shows the samsung sII logo along with the triangle and then goes straight back to the android install screen, I also can't go into recovery.
What would be the best thing to do in this instance? would re-flashing a recovery program work?
Thanks for any help!
Whatever happens, DO NOT WIPE DATA OR DO A FACTORY RESET! 4.0.4 is prone to the notorious eMMC brickbug!
Try downloading the new firmware manually and flashing via Odin.

Is there a method for rooting stock jellybean on the I9100? can I use the same tar file and method as I did with ICS?

U mean using CF Root kernel to root?
For JB, u can root using a custom kernel like Siyah, using Odin. This will install CWM recovery also and give u root access.
Or u can try the Universal Method to root without installing CWM recovery.

I used CF root and odin last time, any advantage to using Siyah, or Universal Method?

Universal method is intended for those who only want rooted stock firmware, but donot want to flash custom ROMs (no CWM recovery).
Some people have reported issues with CF Root for JB, so Siyah is an alternative. I don't think there are any particular advantages.

Hi, I recently updated my Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 from Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.4) to Jelly Bean (4.1.2). I have been using the new OS version for a while now and don't like some of the changes that Samsung have implemented. So I was wondering if there is a way of downgrading the OS back to ICS 4.0.4 (the latest official release). Is there a way to select a custom version in Kies and simply update that way? Or am I stuck with Jelly Bean and will just have to adjust to the changes

Also read about 'eMMC Brickbug' issue on 4.0.4.
And don't forget to take an EFS backup too!!

Hi everyone,

I have found the insecure kernel for the XXLPQ model, but I am not sure if this is the same kernel. I have put below all the details from my phone.

Kernel Version: 3.0.15-I9100PXXLPP-CL674609 [email protected]

If u want ur warranty:
- u have to reset ur binary counter
- have a stock firmware
To reset ur binary counter, u need to be rooted. And you have to use Triangle Away app.
I recommend you follow these steps:
Since u are on JB now, root it using Philz kernel and then use Triangle away app to reset ur counter.
Then, do a factory reset and flash stock JB again.
