[Q] Better Wifi signal - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know a trick how to make WiFi reception better? I heard that Galaxy Ace has poor antenna. Is there an aplication to make it work better? I have to mention I got very good signal strength on my laptop but on Ace I got barely 1 of 3 marks.

I don't think because the Ace have low wifi and you can change nothing on that.
Maybe a WiFi repeater

My ace has perfect wifi strength

[Q] Galaxy s ii weak wifi

hello, as the topic suggest my galaxy s 2 's WiFi is PRETTY weak.. i hv goggled and found many suffer from this problem, but i couldn't find any solution. i was hoping someone over here could guide me to some script or update to fix this..
i noticed this problem when i step out of my room bars go down to 2.. and if i go little further with galaxy s 2 then no signal, my iphone 3gs and laptop catches signal fine at distance..i have tired routers at different location's, for example my friends house, in university, so problem definitely is in galaxys2.. it may it requires some other kernel or modded stock kernal.. i dont know..
btw i was on stock ROM same problem existed there, now i am Cyanogen Mod 7.1(2.3.7) and its here too..
please let me know what more could i add that might help you guys here figure out a solution.
thanks
Well, the wifi is not the strongest ever seen but i can use it outside my house (for about 10-15 meters away) without problems
Inside the house i have full/almost full signal in every room (on every rom tbh)
So yes, it's not strong but at my eyes, looks like yours is even weak than normal
mine also has a weaker signal than my other devices. However, I ran speedtest on all of them and the galaxy s2 has the same download and upload speed as the others. This is in spite of having zero or one out of three bars. I read in another forum that the wifi signal indicator of the galaxy s2 just shows a more accurate signal strength and the others just increase the indicators to make you believe that it has a strong signal. :-D
Maybe your router wifi transmitter is weak. Also you could try a different wifi channel on your router.
Same issues here
I just got GSII from sprint and i still have my other 2 EVOs and i loose wifi signal when i go downstairs or other rooms while my EVOs get nearly full bars and speed.I never remember having any wifi issues with my EVOs.I also have the same no or weak wifi issues at work while no other phones at work have such wifi signal problem.any suggestions...?
One thing I tried which helped a little was download 'WiFi Alanlytics' from the market and select your SSID and it will advice which is the 'Best' channel strength for your router.
Ant
poor signal
Hi i have same problem with poor signal.Any solution for this !? Try connect with 5 different router same stuff....flash with many different roms and no results any ideas ?

I agree completely, but another thing you should keep in mind is which modem is the best for you, i went though and tested 20 modems and ended up with LP6 which give me good range, speed, and battery, i suggest you test different modem types
Use THIS app to check, is highly accurate
another thing worth mentioning is that i recall once reading that all kernels will not be compatible with all modem types, I use Siyah kernel, GT i9100T, and BULP6 modem
hope that helps

*Modem/Radio/Baseband is all the same thing and can be seen by going to Settings - About Phone - Baseband. It's basically a driver which receives and sends Mobile Network signals as well as handling switching between GPRS, 3G, HSDPA etc....... (but not WiFi connection, that and switchover between Mobile Network and WiFi is handled by the kernel).
Whilst you are absolutely correct in saying modem has nothing to do wifi whatsoever, why revive a two month old thread ?

[Q] Anyone here own a Galaxy Nexus?

If you own both the Galaxy Nexus and the tab 10.1 could you answer a quick question?
How does the wifi signal strength compare to the tab 10.1? As far as I can tell, the tab 10.1 has an amazing wifi radio, never had a problem with it. I own a Nexus S and it's terrible, drops signal all the time, have 2 bars out of 3 when I'm in the same room as the router.
Thanks in advance.
Maybe you should try some other modems for your Nexus, can make a big difference.

Reception comparison to iPhone 4 and HTC One X

Hi fellas.
I am out there looking to replace my iPhone with an Android phone and really love the S3 from what I've read so far. My biggest concern by far will me is the reception ability of the phone on Att network. Where I work at the signal is weak and very marginal. I constantly go through signal and no signal moments depending on the room I'm in. Because of this I'm looking for a phone with strong reception.
Being an iPhone user. How does the S3 compare reception wise to the iPhone 4 in areas of weak signal?
And two. Which other android 4.0 phones are better? From what I've read seems like the One X is slightly better. True? Is there any site with a good breakdown?
Thank you!

I'm also in a similar situation and I had the HTC One X for about a week in a weak signal area. The signal/data speeds were awesome compared to my Atrix and a substitute 3GS I'm using now.
I have horrible reception at my house and the SGS3 is actually amazing. My H+ speeds are 5mb down, and bluetooth in my truck is so much nicer
please do not compare sammy signal receiver with iphone....
those two are different league...
iphone receiver s**t
you ll be amaze with this beast

I'm sorry but that sounds like a fan boy response. Because my experience with Samsung phones has been weak at best when compared against Motorola's for reception ability which I use to use before the smartphone era. Granted I agree technology change fast and Samsung is doing a lot right lately.
But thanks for the other responses. Making me feel a lot better about getting the phone.

[Q] Tmobile S3 Weak WIFI

Is it just me or is anybody else having a problem with weak wifi signal on their phones? I know its not my router or connection because on my g note i always had at least 3 bars and speed test always gave me a constant speed of 10-11mbps. But now on my tmobile s3 i barely have a wifi signal shows 1 bar , and my wifi calling even says you are almost out of coverage area. And speed test is only giving me 2-4 mbps??
Anybody else also expirencing this? Any fixes, do you think there is something wrong with my phone, should i pay the restocking fee and return it?
Mine is actually better than gnote i had on att. My wife's gs3, she said wifi speed is faster on gs3 than her previous s2 skyrocket. We are VERY pleased by these awesome phones.

Same here. Although the speed is amazingly fast, the signal reception is worse than that of my iPhone and iPad. Is there a fix to this? Other than that, this device is exceptional.

I get good speeds on anything like loading videos and Web pages but when I check the forum it takes is lovely time to open

Looks good on mine so far. Speedtests gave me 30M on my 50M connection
Well I just rooted my s3 and reset and re connected my wifi. Seems to be doing much better I now get at least 2bars sometimes three and speed test is showing 6-7mbps which is better.
But dang 20mbps you guys have some fast wifi. I'm jealous

Mine seems fine compared to my other devices (ipad 3, SGSII, iphone4) but I am also rooted not sure if that affects it somehow or not. But no complaints here on signal strength or speed

The wifi signal isn't so bad that I'd call it weak(my Transformer Prime is WEAK), but it's not so great. Depending on what phone you were using before the gs3, it may seem weak though. I use different devices alot, and the gs3 is not the best or worst when it comes to wifi. The gs2 has great wifi, the Galaxy note soes too. The prime is terrible, and the gs3 is probably slightly better than the sensation in my opinion. I'm upstairs with the router downstairs, and I get 10mbps, but right in front of the router I get 30+. I've also noticed that it can depend on how I'm holding the phone. It never knocks the signal out, but it does weaken it when I'm using it in landscape. Maybe you could move your router to more central location?

Antenna problem Galaxy Ace 4 SM-G357FZ

Hello,
I have very bad reception on my ace 4, is there a way to check/fix the antenna?
My signal does not go above -120 dB and it does with other phones on the same place.
Thanks
Are you sure it's a antenna problem? Have you rooted it via pc?
