Whenever I deodex the entire ROM (apps & system) it boot loops what-so-ever
I have no idea what I've done wrong, I've tried to do it all over again etc. but it ain't helping.
I've also tried to only deodex the app folder, (leaving the framework folder unmodified) but it still bootloops
Hey everybody.
I've been using custom roms for a while now, but when I install a new one I need to disable fast dormancy with *#*#9900#*#* and change my HSDPA version with *#*#301279#*#* in order to get usable data speed with my carrier.
On roms that don't allow secret codes, I usually just replaced the phone.apk and contacts.apk with the stock versions and all would be fine, but on my current ROM, AndyX 8.0, it doesn't allow me to do this. I replace the files, reboot and get com.android.phone" error messages, no matter what files I try. I've tried wiping dalvik cache and fixing permissions but nothing works. Worked fine up until version 7.2 of this ROM.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Use the matching apk files from the stock rom .

Thanks for the reply. Still no luck, though
EDIT
Nevermind, got it . I tried doing it via root explorer, fixing permissions, wiping cache, making my own CWM update .zip file. In the end, the only way it worked for me was replacing the files inside my ROM's full update package and flashing the whole thing again.
Hi, i just want to know if i can install Phone.apk from MiniCM7 2.2.1 to MiniCm7 2.0.7... u know, the T9 stuff when dialing...
The reason is because i have now a E10a with locked bootloader and can't install the latest rom. I had a E10i but i'm from Colombia and with E10i 3G doesnt work here.
so, can u tell me please if this can be possible and... How to do it correctly if it is???
Thanks
Replace contacts.apk and contact-provider in the 2.0.7 zip with contacts.apk and contacts.odex and contacts.apk and contactsprovider.odex from the 2.2.1 zip. (You have to open both zips with a 3rd party ziptool, like winzip or 7-zip, not the built in windows archiver). It should work without problems

Did you wipe the cache and the dalvik-cache? The .odex part is what ends up in the dalvik-cache as far as i'm aware. If you didn't clear that it will still have the old 2.0.7 part in there which may prevent it from working properly.
If you got stuck in the config-wizard you were already in the ROM. The phone.apk however has nothing to do with your contacts, it just handles connectivity and calls as far as i'm aware. I've got a 2.0.7 ROM that i tweaked in which the contacts from 2.2.1 work without any problem and I didn't do anything particular apart from replacing the old one with the newer one.

I will explain step by step, maybe i do a mistake during the process, here we go
- took MiniCM 7 2.0.7.zip and opened with winzip
- took MiniCM 7.2.2.1.zip and opened with winzip too
- selected Contacts and ContactsProvider files (apk & odex) from 2.2.1 and dragged to 2.0.7 winzip window
- hit accept and replaced old Contacts and ContactsProvider files from 2.0.7.zip
- dragged 2.0.7.zip to sdcard
- reboot in CWM recovery (3.0 for x10 mini)
- wiped dalvik cache and cache partition
- flashed 2.0.7.zip
- flashed gapps (i forgot to flash it before)
- wiped dalvik cache and cache partition again
- reboot phone
And after this, i see 2 droid apk's instead of Dialer and Contacts apk's and when i hit one of them says "application is not installed", and i can't found it in app drawer... what im doing wrong?

Try it with these, they are the deodexed versions from 2.2.1. Delete the .apk and .odex files from 2.0.7, and put these in.

tried drag this files in 2.0.7.zip (deleted the old ones from it) and now shows "installation aborted" when i try to flash it.
tried to copy to /system folder but i can't even mount rw properly... another suggestion? ^L^
EDIT: I updated busybox for 1.17, now i was able to mount r/w properly, erased Contacts and ContactsProvider from /system and replaced with deodexed ones... It worked!!! Thanks a lot!!!
So I decided to flash the Settings.apk & SystemUI.apk from the ARTMOD v4.31 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260951) but problem is that the status bar doesnt appear and I get SystemUI has stopped working. Settings.apk works fine! Im on stock XT910 JB 4.1.2 ROM. First, I made a backup of SystemUI.apk, SystemUI.odex, Settings.apk and Settings.odex, then deleted the .odex files and then booted in SafeStrap Recovery and flashed the SystemUI.apk and Settings.apk from a flashable zip I made, but got SystemUI has stopped. So I made a flashable backup of the SystemUI.apk and .odex and then flashed it, but had the same problem! Someone HELP! :'( Ive wiped dalvik-cache but nothing. I dont want to do a full wipe because I dont want to have to download everything again! But i guess im going to have to, to try! But someone please help! :'(
I have screwed up this apk and if anyone has stock installed with this also being fresh from stock with odex please upload it,I will be very thankful.
Reflash whole system. Pushing app will not work.
