Hello people.
I am new to this forum and I registered after reading lots of threads here - but none of them could clarify my question.
I am an owner of a smashed-screen Galaxy S2 and as I am also kinda broke, I couldn't buy a screen replacement yet. So I went for a cheaper option which was a Chinese phablet, which is surprinsingly fast and smooth.
Its box says "Android Note 2" but the actual brand/model is this:
Alps
E1901_v77_gq2008_ov8825
As I am a new user, I could not post a URL here but the combination of the model above + the word specs on Google will lead you to the device's full specs.
As you might know, these Chinese devices have very little documentation or support. Also, the only reading I could do was a Google translation of a few Chinese sites as well as Russian sites. It took me weeks to find a working ROM for it as the stock ROM wouldn't let me root it. I downloaded a ROM, which was not rooted, flashed it onto my phone and then ran the unlock-root-tool and bang! I now have got root on my phone.
However, as I am am a sort of knit guy, I would like to help others in the same situation I was weeks ago (trying to find a ROM with root permissions but without having the ability of speaking Chinese) and I would like to edit this ROM I have here, which I know it works fine on this model and add root support to it and then upload it to as many ROM websites as I can.
So here is the noob question: I have a ROM in ZIP format. What's next? How do I add root to this ROM?
I read a lot about Kitchen but it wasn't very clear about "unsupported devices".
Before you ask, I am not a noob in everything. I use Linux as my OS and do understand how an Operating System works and I have full understanding of root for being a Linux user. I also can use Windows (which I dislike but I know that some software is only written for Windows and that's why I have it on a virtual machine).
Any suggestions? It's nothing urgent but I know that there are lots of people looking for this and I can't simply answer thousands of questions.

I totally agree with the request above. This device is really good compared to its price and all. Would like to share thoughts about it, also, if ever needed, get help and try to help others One big request would be to make a guide on rooting the device or giving an idea, methods to root. I've tried to root the device with many root tools, but I was a failure Any help would be much appreciated. The main reason for me to root the device, is to change the system font from DroidSans to Tahoma, that way the device can recognize Armenian letters (read letters, also write them using anysoftkeyboard) .
P.S. Thanks to the developers of this webpage, I already "pimped" my galaxy s using all the articles and threads found here.
I would appreciate a Mediapad Forum as well.
Further getting root hints would be great, be able to use proper backup tools etc.

huawei devices are popluar because its quality and good price
Got one 2 weeks ago in Hong Kong, played with it for a while, well built and well worth the price (Hk$3,880.00) , though the internal storage 8G is less than desirable. Tried a few methods to root if but with no success. A very enjoyable device, much handier and interesting than my old wi-fi ipad.
Eagerly awaiting for a solid Rooting method.

Someone in a german Forum said, that there is a driver package on the internal Storage. But for using it as a mass storage device no driveres are needed.

Hello guys, i really need some help, here's the thing:
I got myself a 7'' tablet a week ago, i'm pleased with it (good build, nice specs and overall good build quality), but i can't seem to root it.
I have tried everything, z4root, SuperOneClick, SRS Root, Doomlord's tool, Bin4ry's tool, even tried to push the files manually via adb but no luck.
Here's the specs:
MID Dino 7.17 - AMLogic SoC - AML8726-MX, 1.5 Ghz Cortex A9 Dual-Core, 1gb Ram, Dual Mali400 GPU and stock Android JB 4.1.1
I can't find anything on the tablet itself, so i guess it falls under the category of "generic". I'm not looking for Roms either, all i want to do is ROOT the damn thing... I even found a flashable zip file somewhere on a spanish forum, flashed it via recovery, but nothing happened. Any ideias?

For now i only know how to root it, as for custom roms or recoveries, i quit trying a long time ago, the company that makes the tablet (Digital EmDoor) is one of those chinese companies that don't even have a download page to get the original rom. The tablet itself is actually good, but custom development for it is near impossible unless you're some sort of linux-android genius.

I found a working souce of usb adb driver (after many tries and fails) at: http://minix.com.hk/downfile/RK_DriverAssitant.zip
it comes with an installer which works!
After this a basic script provided for an easy installation of supersu and busybox:
search for RK3188_ROOT (or use http://www.mediafire.com/download/dzx599tkq0rdehl/RK3188_ROOT_Tool.zip)

Any pointers for an extremely new user? this is my first device -M6pro- and I'm quite attached to it, but I can't backup nor install many apps on the SD, so I kinda want to root it, but I don't know the first thing about this, just installed the drivers directly from pipo.cn and don't know whats next. Also, It's not like Pipo is very popular around, so i know there won't be any easy rooting apps like huauei or HTC models have

Got the official kitkat update from pipo and it works nicely. problem is, the root method doesn't works anymore.

uh... can't post links, but it's the newest one in the pipo chinese website, on the support section of the m6pro 3g
after upgrading I cannot use sparky's method anymore, nor flash anything, since the recovery mode seems to be lacking a few options. contacted Pipo but so far I haven't got an answer about rooting it, only the boilerplate "all our tablets come unrooted"

I just bought Huawei Enjoy 5s (TAG-AL00) one month ago from China and realized that this smartphone does not allow install any kind of Google APP.
I've tried of many manner install Google Play and other Google APPs, but i didn't find any accurate instruction that can guide me safely.
someone know how to fix it ?

Have any of you guys found a reliable way to do this yet? Most of the links or guides I've seen on this so far seem a little be hand wavey in one way or another.
Also, you used kingo root to root it? It wouldn't work when I downloaded the apk, did you have to download it to your desktop?

Did you get it to work with google play? WHat ROM did you use, I'm unsure if I should use the GR3 (model TAG-L--) or the TIT-AL00 ROM.

I'm guessing the guys in this thread have either sorted the problem or no longer need the solution. However, if anyone else is in the same position, I'm just updating to let you know that I (with a lot of help from a friend) have got google play services installed and working on my phone. We used a combination of this thread which is the same process, but the device here is slightly different (TIT, not TAG) and therefore the CWM recovery file never worked on my phone. So using this thread, we were able to find the download TWRP instead (it links to another thread where you can download TWRP).
The entire process if fairly simple.
The hardest part for me was getting the bootloader code. I needed to contact Huawei consumer services (one of the European offices) and explain I needed the code. They told me I needed to contact the Chinese consumer services as that's where I bought the phone, they spoken very little English so it went nowhere fast. I contacted the same European office again and explained I cannot get the code via typing my info into the unlocker webpage, nor through the Chinese office. So they managed to get back to me after a day or so with the code (I needed to send a screenshot of the unlocker page failing to give me the code, along with the other phone info the unlocker page asks for).
Once you have that, just follow the guide for the TIT-AL00 (but with the TWRP recovery linked above). You don't need to root the device if you just want GAPPs. I have the device working with all the google apps etc, and didn't need root access.
