[SOLVED] Galaxy S2 Odd Camera Issue - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all, this is my first post in the S2 section. I bought a very cheap S2 today but it has 1 issue (hence why it was cheap). The rear camera will only focus on close objects (>30cm) OR when it is facing up. If I point my phone down to look at the floor for example, it won't focus on anything unless i'm ~30cm from the floor. If i point my phone to the sky or higher than eye level it will focus. It sometimes will focus when I point it at eyelevel but it usually wont. I have updated it to XWLSS and the still issue persists. I bought this phone because i thought that this issue was a software issue but updating it to 4.1.2 didn't fix it.
Camera firmware: SCEF02.
Phone Firmware: TBEC28.
I don't have FPS issues or pink issues, only focusing issues. I've tried other camera apps (lgCamera) but that didn't fix it either. I don't think my camera module is completely broken because it still focuses when pointed higher than eye level. If i select macro in camera settings, nothing changes so that's why I think it might be a software issue. This issue happens in both video and photo mode. The front camera works fine and everything else is fine. Is there anything that can be done hardware wise or software wise? I don't want to change my module due to laziness and lack of experience but is there anything I could do like resolder the module? Anything else I can do software wise? If it helps, I also have an i9100T (Telstra model, identical to the i9100 except for the radio).
If people don't really understand by what I mean (issue wise) i'll make a video showing the focusing range and non focusing range.

Could reinstalling the camera firmware fix it? Or installing a different version?

If anyone does have this problem, I fixed this specific i9100 by changing the camera module.

There is a known banding issue while using the rear camera if you have the FFC mod. Read through this thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804146
ill give you a quick run down tho so you dont post adn get yelled at.
the reason it is happening is the FFC is always powered so the RFC lacks power, a user cut off the FFC on one of there cameras and the lines went away... that is the proof it was not a grounding issue... but a power issue.
new kernals have been tried and did not help much.
a way to turn off the FFC while the rear is in use failed.
right now it is still being worked on.. i think process is pretty slowed waiting for 2.2 to come out and the hopes that the vibrant plus will help the issue.
and the fringe thing... i have no clue why thats not working. I'm running Macnut R14 and i use fringe with my friend all the time and it works fine with the FFC.

Faulty camera in P7510

I never really tried the camera on my tab before. Noticed people complaining that the camera didnt work on a rom i loaded, so i tried and it also did not work. Then, i reflashed my nandroid backup of the stock rom and.... Camera still does not work.
I'm a linux sysadmin for my day job, so i'm unafraid of the terminal-- does anyone know whereabouts i should start in diagnosing whether it is a hardware issue or, possibly, a faulty firmware load into the camera's processor?
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

It most likely kept the newer files it installed when you flashed the backup. Restocking would let you know if it is a hardware problem.

[Camera bug] - Images are white with led on

Whenever I take picture with my phone in dark room...or somewhere where led flash need to be used, photos are ale white..I mean not all, but enough that it is useless. Does anybody knows how to fix this bug ? It seems like led flash is too bright(strong) so it impacts image in a bad way. Also, does anybody experienced this issue ?

are you putting some cover on your phone?then it may cause problems
if you are on custom rom then its a bug update the rom
if you are on stock then try a factory reset
I changed over a 15 roms and kernels, now I'm on stock(flashed with odin, latest) and still the same. No covers, also. Did anyone experienced this issue, my friends told me that that is common issue on S2, is that true ? or it is a bug ?

The only common issue on the S2 I know is the mic (sometimes not work unless screaming) and the camera filming at 1080p looks like 720p but then 1.5x zoomed.
No mic problems, or any others, just that one with a camera. Video quality is good also.

Front facing camera crashes phone

Hey guys, i've been having some trouble lately with taking pictures on my front facing camera. I'm using the t-mobile variant of the samsung galaxy s3 (its actually from wind, but theyre the same). The last rom i had installed was cyanogenmod, and it was working fairly well, except every once in a while, when i took a picture or video from the front facing camera, the phone would crash immediately and reboot. I tested this with many different camera applications and they all had the same result. I decided that i would try a different rom to see if that was the issue, so i installed the latest version of Carbon. The problem persisted, and it even got worse. Now every time i take a photo using the front facing camera, the phone will crash and reboot instantly. I read around, and there appears to be some issues with snapchat and such, but i dont think that is my problem as this is occuring with every camera application i have. I have also checked out some other threads related to this issue, and some seem to have the same problem, with no real solution. Apparently a temporary fix seems to be clearing the application data, but even that doesn't work for me. If i could guess, i would say it has something to do with custom roms in general as i have seen no reports of a stock rom phone having this issue, or perhaps a gapps issue, but those are just some thoughts.
Some Info:
Model Number: SGH-T999
Android Version: 4.4.2
Carbon Version: CARBON-KK-NIGHTLY-20140316-0304
I'd be happy to provide any extra info needed. Thanks so much guys, it would be great for me and all the others that have this issue if there's some way to fix this problem. I'll try to be as active as i can to provide any info or test any possible solution for everyone. It seems like a big problem for a lot of people.
I'd really appreciate any and all feedback. Sorry for the bump.

[Q] The I9300 microphone.

There has been similar but not exact posts to this. The issue is the serious lack of sensitivity change with the S3's mic. Recording a video for example, is a nightmare. The sound quality is garbage and always has been with all galaxy models. My first Samsung Galaxy S phone i had, had a firmware hack where VoodooSound could control the sensitivity of the microphone and it went from awful to perfect!! Is there anything similar i can do with my phone? The mic is just way too sensitive and just cracks the f*ck up in any situation louder than conversation volume.
Currently running CWM 6+/Cyanogen Mod. All up to date.
Any help and information would be greatly accepted.
Cheers guys!

Given you're running cyanogenmod, I would say that might be an issue given all the problems with that on the s3

It's really not. The microphone issue is exactly the same with or without the mod.
