Hi everyone, I'm looking to use my dell streak as a car navigation system, But I also wanted to use it to record what it see's through my windscreen, and record speed, gps marker etc.
basically adapting it into one of those dash cams, is there software out there for this purpose? has anyone else here tried this?

I just purchased a Sony H/U for the car.
The phone is found with no problem, but no matter what I do I cannot get sound to come out of the H/U when using B/T or USB, playing music or using the phone handsfree.
I have 2.2.2 installed on the phone, Build 15609, OEM GAUSB1A135100.
I have a B/T earpiece that works properly. I made sure it was disconnected in case there was some kind of interference but that didn't help.
Anyone have any suggestions as to where to start?
The automatic search came up with nothing for the Streak when I started the thread.
i plan on using my gtablet as a command center (dash installed) in my current truck build.
i would like some advice on a few things if possible.
i have torque intalled so i have guages and obd II code reading avail.
i would like an inclinometer if the tab supports it.
i will be using a bluetooth gps reciver for maps/nav.etc.
i want to use my tab as a mass music storage device.
i would like to use cameras for back up and forward recording.
i would like to run these apps on the screen at the same time and for them to load at start up or maybe have one icon that initiates all.
any input help or programming skills for hire would be appreciated.
Greetings fellow XDA members,
I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, or maybe Im doing something wrong. I set up the IR blaster with the HTC One native TV app on my Toshiba TV and Comcast Cable Box. Everything works fine, but the TV remote seems to be missing the 'INPUT' toggle, which is to be used to change the input on the tv between HDMI ports. I searched through settings, and saw an option where i could teach it inputs from my regular TV remote, and it easily learned the button, but still the 'Input' toggle does not show up on my TV remote. It seems very peculiar since my GS4 showed it out of the box, and it is one of the most common inputs i use. I wondered if it has anythign to do with my TV model, but i dont want to change it incase it stops working completely.
Please let me know if anyone had the same problem or if its User Error here Cheers
Hi hope someone can help here.
Im in a quandary wether to just get a normal car dash cam or use a 2nd hand android cheap phone as one.
I was wondering if there was any hacked firmware that converts a android mobile into just a camcorder with no other phone features like calling or receiving or text etc etc?
I know theres apps for dash cams but just a thought.
Has this been thought of or am I the first one to think of it.
Hope you can help
When I got my new phone I wiped the old one and installed a dashcam/blackbox program, Google navigation and a music player on it.
With no sim card in this "car phone" I don't get calls or text messages.
I set up my new phone to serve as a wifi hotspot so the "car phone" can connect for Google navigation. With dashcam running in the background and Google search and now set to accept OK Google on any screen I have music and navigation available hands free as well as the dashcam.
An NFC tag in the car turns my primary phones wifi hotspot on when I get in.
Hi everyone!
I've searched this a thousand times and can't seem to find anything current. I'm looking for a head unit that simply allows steering wheel controls and Bluetooth multipoint. I don't care how it looks, because I plan on installing my Nexus 9 into the dash and keeping my Nexus 6 in it's mount.
Ideally, I'd like the tablet to be the master connection, until sound comes out from my phone, then the phone takes over (be it music, a phone call, etc.) I'd also like to be able use my steering wheel controls... So!
Anyone have any leads for me? Many thanks in advance!
