Ordering via Amazon - AT&T HTC One (M7)

I am planning on upgrading to the HTC One via Amazon wireless, if my unit were to come with something wrong with it (e.g. dead pixels/gaps), how do you return it? Do you ship it back to Amazon or are you able to walk into your local AT&T store and exchange it? Thanks!
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app

I think amazon covers you for 30 days, after that you deal with at&t warranty services. Call customer service. They ship a replacement you send back your bad device.

I've had a couple phones I bought from Amazon Wireless. One of them had a problem so I emailed them via the order info on the site. I had a replacement in 2 days. This was about 2.5 years ago, so I can not say how their current support rates.

You can always return it to Amazon wireless within their return window.
Edit:: I stand corrected haha

Local ATT stores won't take them back if not purchased from an ATT store. They turned me away.

Look at it from a business perspective. Both Amazon and AT&T bought phones from HTC to sell to their customers. If you buy a phone from Amazon and therefore deplete their inventory and giving them revenue/return on their investment, and why should AT&T give you one from their inventory, deplete their stock, and get no revenue/return on their investment. You could argue they get it through the monthly, but they're getting that regardless.
There's also a logistical reason too. AT&T can't access/see the order from Amazon(they can see you ordered something, but nothing else) to facilitate the return so they can't verify anything about your phone/order. Further, all returned/exchanged phones go back to HTC eventually and the retailers get a credit for returning them. If the IMEI/ESN doesn't match what was allocated to the that particular retailer, HTC might not accept it back or issue the credit.

Got ya. Makes sense, I had just thought that the wireless store was an extension of the organization at&t and not their own entity. At least you bring useful info to the table even though I had edited my post already. Not like some others.

Exchange?

I bought my skyrocket January 20th will I be able to exchange it for the galaxy note when it comes out?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
According to AT&T's policy you have 30 days to make up your mind on the phone. But since the Note isn't available yet you might have to return it and wait a few days.
So if I wait until the 19th will it be to late?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
I would personally return it now. Feb 19th is your 30th day (31 in jan) and inventory could be limited. Ive heard some horror stories of carrier stores not exchanging for a new phone on launch day and they cited some BS excuse that they claimed is in some random piece of documentation allowing them to deny you an exchange on launch. I have a concession line at an ATT corporate store and I know I am not allowed to get it on launch just because "the manager said so"
Ok thanks
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
If you still have the phone you had before your skyrocket, you could just return the skyrocket and pre-order the Note in-store and just use the old phone until the Note comes out on the 19th. That way you guarantee you get in before your 30 days are up.
I ask the guy that works there and he said I couldn't preorder it in store

This is exactly why I don't buy any phones from these stores. I call AT&T and order the phone through a rep. When you buy directly from AT&T you can always speak to a manager or someone other than an store employee. I've had no problem doing it this way and I know several people who got screwed dealing with those AT&T Corp Stores.
Refer to the thread where the phone could not be found in our system.
Yes, it can be preordered in cor stores, but there have been issues with the phone not being found in OPUS.
Today it appears to be working.
Escalate your problem to the manager and he or she will more lonely likely know what to do. I had the same problem with getting a skyrocket on the 24the and wanted to return it for the note and the employees did not know what to do. The manager was within ear shot and was able to remedy the problem.
edit for spelling*** still getting use to swyping on the 7.7.

Corp Stores
I don't know what corp stores you go to but the one by me is great (although I didn't preorder with them so I could get free case from Best Buy) I was going to get the HTC Vivid a few months back talking to a Store rep he wanted to know what I was looking for in the phone and suggested I wait for the Galaxy Note I stopped in every now and then and he updated me on what he knew was comming he even let me know about the free case from best buy and said he would match that for me on preorder if they were getting the same one but on the 4th he didn't think they were getting the same one I went to Best Buy and preordered but the service I get in the Corp Store is awesome they keep up on rumors and new phones software and inform me alot of the time.

I'm not saying they are all bad (corp stores) but most of them are. Especially the ones by me. Every time I go into one of them Corp AT&T stores none of them seem knowledgeable about new products, they are rushing me to buy a phone I don't want, their prices are a lot higher than going through AT&T website and I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. Not to mention I feel like I'm wasting their time when I come in just to take a look. I hate those effen stores and I don't want to give them any business.
Some of my friends and family tried to return phones to them and got a ridiculous run around. I don't have time for their BS. I've returned several phones to AT&T directly without issue. I returned a returned a Fuze that I used for several months and got a Tilt 2. Try getting the same courtesy from one of those Corp Stores.
I personally feel more comfortable dealing with AT&T directly.

EVOLTE national launch date discussion

I'm an idiot for not preordering
Called sprint to move up my upgrade and I need the evolte to come in at bestbuy before my buy back goes down even more.

I was going to create this thread but didn't know if there were enough of us.
The fact that Sprint has not set a street date yet is scary to think about.I pre ordered on May 7th and have no idea when I will ever see my purchase.I thought for sure it would be in stores by Friday but it seems I may be way off...
Either the new arrivals have to be inspected just like the 1st batch or there is a major shortage on the S4 Chips or its a combination of both.I feel us who pre ordered in Stores not called Best Buy won't see our phones for 2-3 week minimum.

I got my 3D on launch day and the 280 buy back goes down to 210 on June 24 which won't cover the frigging tax in CA. Hope it's before then, I have to pay Sprint 115 to upgrade early

So what are your thoughts..im at a loss of words here..How do you go from a national launch date of May 18,putting stupid little memos out to your stores about opening early and having launch parties to a one week delay, sent out pre orders and SCREW any local sprint stores you went to and pre ordered your phone from?
I don't understand and wish we could know more about what is going on instead of being left in the dark.Because as it stands they have my money collecting interest and I have no god damn clue when I will see my purchase.(yes i pre ordered but i paid the full amount)
i went to the sprint store to buy a case and they were all excited to see the phone and the ppl their told me national release is next week. take that with a grain of salt
I'm another one following closely. I even paid 115$ to get my upgrade date pushed up so when I buy this phone I will get it for the upgrade price...Anyway I didn't pre order it because I have the Evo3d and was gonna stay with it because I didn't think it was that much of an upgrade...anyhow I just cracked the screen on my 3d from dropping it...so I figured instead of paying 100$ to get a refurbished Evo3d I midas well just get the lte...So thats what I'm going to do...
So I'm waiting for it to hit the stores..whenever that will be...I see Bestbuy is still taking preorders but what I'm worried about is that the phone will hit the stores before I get my preorder...but I just don't know...I'm not sure if I should just wait for the stores to start selling it or preorder it from best buy..
Any thoughts??
That sucks Brian. I do know there is an impending S4 shortage. The US version of galaxy 3 will have s4 too, rumors are iPhone 5 also
I'd be ecstatic if launch was this weekend or next week
Someone posted a number on the bestbuy thread. It gave me the run around to preorder at stores or online. Online says to call the number or go to a store. Gonna try a store after dinner
Sent via XDA Premium
i too am awaiting sprint stores to carry the phone so i can use an upgrade. i was hoping i wouldn't have to wait long
Good venting topic. I could not pre-order from Sprint online because my upgrade elegibility only reset on May 18. I could not pre-order from 3rd parties because I have a SERO plan. Now BestBuy store pre-orders are being filled while the Sprint corporate store where I'm on the Device Waiting List for EVO LTE tells me that maybe they'll have them next week. Should have just pre-ordered at BB and gone through the pain of activating a phone on a SERO line there. I sure hope this merits at least a waived activation fee once the phones are actually available.
I still believe that most of us pre orderers will get the pphone tomorrow ..I did mine at target and they said they will have it tomorrow ..and I'm the only preorder..I'm thinking about my lonely evo all by itself..I wonder where it is right now ..wish I could go save it from her misery

We are in the same boat my friend..I initially went to Best Buy for my pre order because of the deal they had with the gift cards. After waiting for 30 minutes i remembered i went though this last year with my Evo3D.Im on a really cheap contract(Sero+ Discounts from the OG Evo 4G) I have 2 lines unlimited everything No $10 data premium charge for $95/month..No way Best Buy could keep me on this plan.Last year I had to go to a Sprint Corporate store to Pre Order.
I can only upgrade through a Sprint corporate location because my plan doesn't show up in 3rd party computers...And here we are to this very moment, lost and hoping for some info.I've ruled out this weekend(god its going to be long) and set my eyes to next week...Im not looking for a freebe here or a damn cheeseburger..Just give me a god damn date and be done with it.I think there isn't a date because its going to be a long while(2+ weeks) buts thats just the pessimist in me./Frustration

I've been saying it for a while. But there are more issues out there. The fact that some of these phones cleared customs a week ago and only getting to customer now is crazy. I think the phones are barely trickling in. In fact I know they are.
There is a reason why only enough phones (for half a dozen preorders) are being shipped to every best buy. No extras are being shipped anywhere.
Sprint has dragged their feet with a new launch date because they just don't have the supply. I think they fulfilled the preorders first, then shipped to Best Buy, then shipped to Wirefly, then shipped to Amazon. Now they are probably trying to build some stock for a national launch. But its trickling.

Thats fine..but trickle that Sh*t to the customers who gave them their $$ in THEIR stores as well..Im sure there weren't many of us...We pre ordered just like the rest of these guys. Why are we the ones to wait..If Best Buy can hand it out in store to their customers we should be treated the same way.
Hello Everyone,
I am buying outright once my local sprint store gets one. My job pays for my simply everything plan but, if I want ownership of the phone, I must buy outright. To have done an upgrade or bought outright through the corporate account, would have been a nightmare with our office. Plus, the phone would have shipped to corporate( in a different state) then would have shipped to me.
Sure hope my local stores can get some soon. Yes I must wait but, it is worth getting free simply everything plan and mobile internet for my laptop that I can use as personal too.

I agree. Seems like Best Buy got preferential treatment. Think about it, they had to get the phones shipped to their distribution centers then shipped to the individual stores and they are handing out the phones the same day online sprint orderers are getting their phones.
None of the logistics of this whole ordeal make any sense. But one would think that Sprint Stores would have higher importance over third party retailers.
I'm beginning to get a little aggravated myself.
I did go to the trouble of preordering but someone at Sprint keyed in the order number wrong for someone else who was canceling and my order got cancelled by mistake. So, I call Sprint and spend about an hour and a half moving up the chain of command only to find out that I'm SOL. The phone is no longer available for preorder nor is it available for regular orders.
I'm thinking "no big deal" since I'll be able to walk into a Sprint store the day after preorders arrive and pick one up but now it's looking like that's not gonna happen. To add insult to injury they've still got my $216 and they're telling me that it will be another 10-15 days before they'll be able to credit it back to my account.
Sheesh!! Come on guys........

While box sales are important for corp owned stores, they make up a very small % of overall box sales within the company. They are mainly for customer service.

Actually now it's no go for we SERO-P customer to upgrade at BB. I pre-ordered the phone from BB online on the first day, and today they shoot a call telling me that the order could not be processed since I'm on SERO-P. I then called Sprint employee account service and got confirmed that we SERO user can no longer get new phones while keep the plan from 3rd party retailer. Now I'm stuck at nowhere to get the phone except waiting for the official launch date to be announced. Hope this would make you feel better

I think you should have to pay for it. After all if its a manufacturers defect you need to deal with the manufacturer. Sprint is offering you a service that allows you to walk into a sprint store and get a refurbished device same day.
So your paying sprint to deal with the defective device and offer you a replacement device.
So your issue for example, you would have to mail your device into HTC, wait for them to diagnose and repair it and send it back.
EVEN with over night shipping thats a day there, a day back, plus shipping costs, now add in the time HTC takes to fix it (they also will not send a loaner phone or swap the device, under the manufacturers warranty they repair yours, unless they dont have parts or is a main board problem, then you get a replacement) your out a week or more if you deal with the manufacturer.
So i think we should be thanking sprint for taking on the financial burden of having to have all these seed stock refurbished devices that we can walk in and get replaced same day for 35, or 50 bucks. I for one am happy they offer it.

That makes no sense if they sell a product they should stand behind it. I work for a tire and service center in Michigan and if we tried to charge people for manufacture defects because we weren't the manufacturer, people wouldn't do business with us. If you don't want to honor a products warranty don't sell it.

We do honor it. Which is why we replace the phone. If you choose to get insurance you avoid this cost. But if you choose not to then the fee applies. Phones are expensive. You can't expect them to switch out these phones for free. Sprint pays HTC to carry them. HTC has no financial burden in replacing their own devices. To say we shouldn't sell a protect we can't guarantee is ridiculous. No electronic can be guaranteed. Things happen. Nothing is perfect. Best Buy won't repair my samsung tv unless I purchase their protection plan. Same thing.
I certainly feel you should have to pay of you go to Sprint for your HTC phones malfunction and YOU made the choice not to insure it. You don't want to pay? Go to the people who made it.

The difference is, if a tire fails, someone can die. If a phone fails, unless it self combusts, you're not likely in any danger.
So what's sprint's justification for raising the price. They still send 'em off to htc to be repaired/refurbished. Most HD manufacturers offer advanced replacement. You have to send in your bad drive within 30 days or they charge the card. Why doesn't htc/samsung/whoever offer this?
I think this is just another way of nickel and diming the customer.
If my Vizio TV fails in the first two years I take it back to Costco and they swap it out for free, the main reason why I bought it from them not best buy. Let's put another way, if your $500 fuel pump fails with in the first year we would replace it free of charge. It's called good customer service.

Sprint replacing a phone for free outside of the 14 day period is stupid.
What does the CARRIER have to replace your hardware when they didn't make the phone.
That makes as much sense as me calling Time Warner to replace my broken tv.
Most electronics now a days tell you to not return device to the retailer and to have the manufacturer replace it.

I see sprint (or any wireless carrier) the same way I see a car dealer. Your car comes with a mfg warranty for some amount of time. During that time you bring it into any dealer of that mfg and they fix it free of charge. A free repair is expected. If they can't repair it, then they replace it. Again, free of charge during the warranty period.

You can see them the way you want, but it still doesn't make it the standard. Difference between sprint and your local Ford dealer is that Ford has a vested interest in that dealer.
HTC has their warranty and no ties to sprint besides selling them a product, sure sprint has its repairs stores but doesn't mean htc likes it.

Stealth Black Availability?

Has anyone seen any in stores/etc? I really want the black one, but am running out of time to buy the phone and still be eligable for the $100 trade in promotion which makes it much more worth while. Most stores I've called say not announced... but one store said a few stores have started getting them. I'd even consider the unlocked or dev version from htc direct, but hence no black available there either...
I'm starting to wonder if the black is worth the extra $100 over the silver... but I'm not sold on the silver yet.

All I know is they are over -150 orders in and they are just waiting for them to start showing up. If you cut it close get the silver and just trade it before the 14 days. I am hopeful that it will be either tomorrow or early next week.
I have not heard from a single person who has got it...
I've seen it in store as a demo and was offered one today but ended up buying the silver. I'm in Atlanta for your reference.

Make sure you call before you go. I had three stores tell me the silver was in stock when the HTC one was released when in fact it wasn't.

If you trade it, even though it is the same phone, you are still in the hook for the $35 restocking fee, right?

probably but I'm sure you probably can try to argue that it was suppose to be out the 19th and you had to get the rebate just to see what they said. I just talked to AT&T and it may be better news she said that the preorders and now at -144 so either they started shipping some or people canceled the orders.
I guess I'll call some Best Buys today then... I bet they'd even price match Walmart's $150. I'll also try calling a few corporate stores again today, though I'm sure they're tired of people calling.

I was at best buys yesterday and almost purchased a silver one. They approved the price match with walmart without hesitation. Decided to hold off and wait for the black but it's getting really difficult.

I actually got my silver on the 18th, but no rebate, just the media link streamer. I'm not sure it is worth the extra $35.

Just called them. They do not have the black in stock as I suspected. I doubt there are any black units in stores currently since the AT&T preorders haven't even shipped.

Unless they actually checked the availability right in front of you there's reason to believe them. I've been misled several times already.
I don't follow market trends or tactics but if I had to make a guess. You will see the black show up on the S4 release date.
Additionally, I'm surprised BB matched Wal-Mart. The price match doesn't include wireless phones. At least that is what their policy states.

my BBY said they stopped that practice. And I was trying so hard to wait to see if my Radio Shack was getting it so i could do the $50 Play store card. but they have no info on it. So I called ATT chewed them out and got the silver one for $150 free overnight and no activation fee. Im currently siting by the door lol im so impatient couldn't wait any longer:laugh:

Gipped: Media Link Not Delivered

Hope someone can help with this one.
My GF had to go to an AT&T retail store to preorder her One because the Premiere website wasn't workiing for her. She got the phone, but they didn't ship the Media Link adapter, and I know she ordered well within the promotional period, and that there was still inventory available because of posts made here after her order that confirmed it.
We went to the store and inquired, and they said we had to call customer service, so we did. After a while on the phone with customer service, we were told to go to the store.
It would be helpful if anyone here has a part# or SKU# - and perhaps any advice for us on how to go about next steps, so we can get this done.
Thanks in advance!

Item: HITECH PJ83100 ACCESSORY
Part Number: 41398
AT&T is ostensibly clueless when it comes to the availability of this product. I had one ordered prior to the presale, and one after it was clear the former wasn't coming. After the second didn't come they told me they couldn't even guarantee it would ship at all so they found a local shop that had one in stock and sent me to pick one up there.
And then, so you know, unless you have a tethering plan it'll be a glorified paperweight until an update is released by AT&T (or HTC). It doesn't work.
i never got mine... called at&t and got a 180 bill credit for not getting them. worth it in my opinion
Interesting. I ordered mine on the 16th, in store, and my rep couldn't get the Media Link HD to populate in the cart. So I just figured I wasn't gonna get one, which wasn't a big deal since I wouldn't have really used it anyway.
However, last week I got a random email from AT&T stating it was on its way. They must be fulfilling the backorders on it automatically now.

This info worked, thanks. Got the local store to order one up.
There is a flashable zip file which makes the unit usable under the AT&T ROM, or you can flash a custom ROM like ARHD which likewise does the problem.

Damn, they cancelled mine and only gave me 90 bucks off my order for the One. How did you pull off 180 credit?

the update was released by htc... it works now without tether or custom rom.
I noticed that mine didn't end up shipping either after a few weeks. I called premier support, and was told that I would need to call general support to update my "rate plan code" in order to be eligible. I had no idea what that meant, but I figured it would somehow involve AT&T trying to screw me into upgrading my call/data plan.
I called general support, and they were clueless of both the promotion and what a "rate plan code" was. Isn't this company just great? However, after an hour and a half on the phone, we finally got everything sorted out. They ended up opening a new order and manually discounting the item.
I finally got it the other day. Now, I just need to find a way to allow the media link to still stream video with the phone screen off, so it doesn't rape my battery life. Anyone have any suggestions? Is there a fix available?
