I was was running JellyBam and had it all tricked out but the email was acting wanky and the battery insisted it was always being charged. Neither of these were issues when it was a fresh install. I did a backup to my external sdcard and proceeded to format the sdcard since I had two ROMs installed on it and JellyBam doesn't seem to play nice with Siyah.
Much to my surprise it formatted both sdcards. I have been able to install a copy of Siyah kernel onto the internal sdcard. But all of the zip files I was counting on using are gone. How can I get a ROM installed so I can begin recovery? Thanks

Just put the SD card in your computer and copy over that way, then boot into recovery and install like normal. Should have no problems.

ALWAYS a good idea to physically remove your external SD card and then format your internal SD card. Then turn off and put the external card back in.
In this case if you absolutely had vital data on your external card and haven't copied or reformatted it since the mess happened, I suggest removing the external sd, put it in an SD adaptor in your computer and download a data recovery program. It will scan it although your computer might say it is raw/do you wanna format or something like that, and find shreds of files left on it.
Good luck

I am rooting my daughters Droid Eris. I used the app from the market and flashed Cyanogen 7. Everything went well until I tried to start restoring her apps and found that the phone is saying there is no sd card. When I go into setting to mount it it is greyed out and wont do anything. the gallery and rom manager also say there is no sd card. the card I am using is not partitioned. I tried taking a partitioned sd out of my old Cliq and putting it in and then it says it has a unsupported system or something like that but I did notice that the mount sd in settings was no longer greyed out. If I reboot into recovery it will recognize the card because it lists what is on it. I have searched everything I can find and cant find any answers. Oh, also, when I plug in the usb to the computer it does nothing then either. Any Ideas??
Go into recovery since her phone can read the card from there and reformat the card. You may also want to wipe data and dalvik and reflash the rom to be on the safe side.
Make sure that you backup anything currently on the SD card before formatting it, which you can do from the usb-ms toggle option in recovery. You will need to copy the rom file back to the phone after formatting the card which can be done from this option as well.
There should be an android.secured folder on the SD card. Delete that. You don't want it on there so make sure you don't copy it back to the card (it will come back after the first boot and it can then be left alone, I like to delete mine before each flash though to avoid possible problems.)
EDIT - DONT FORGET TO FLASH GAPPS RIGHT AFTER FLASH THE ROM! ALL CM7 ROMS REQUIRE THIS!
Let me know if you have any problems

Totally of the topic BUT I'm Selling a fully rooted Droid Eris running CM7 port ROM for $90...interested PM me.
HI folks,
Total newbie here looking for advice. With the excellent instructions on the site, I was able to quickly and easily burn CM7 to a class 4 SD card and boot my 16 gb nook table w/ no problem. I love CM7 and it blows away the Nook OS and the absurd limitations B&N has placed on the tablet.
Here's the question: I now want to open up additional storage and want to know if it is worth rooting the Nook internally?
I also wonder if it would run a little faster vs. running from the SD card?
I see no reason to ever go back to the B&N environment. On other hand, don't want to accidentally brick it in the process when it is running fine from the card.
If I choose to go with internal root, I am also bit confused on the best (most sound) way to go ahead and load CM7 internally, given that it is running now from the card. Do I just move it over or do I have to do something with CWM?
Thanks!
David
Easiest way to get a rom on the internal:
1. Make a bootable clockworkmod sd card (similar to your CM7 card, but this card will allow you to boot into a custom recovery).
2. Transfer desired rom (zip file) to local memory of the nook.
3. Boot into clockworkmod recovery via the card.
4. Make a backup of the current rom.
5. Install zip from sd -> choose the zip file you placed on the local memory.
6. Wipe data/cache.
7. Reboot into your new internal rom. If you would like, you can use indirect's app to flash clockworkmod to the internal memory and then format the bootable sdcard so you can use it as media storage.
If you ever need to return to stock, you can simply restore your backup via recovery.
Thank you very much!
That helps. I guess I am still trying to decide if it is worth doing that.
Will I have memory free on the device that I do not now and will it run any more efficiently or faster (vs. running off the SD card)?
Thanks again.
I think you'll have full access but it won't be mounted when you plug it into a PC.
If you want it to be mounted, you'll need to repartition. There is a guide for that or you can go to B&N and have them do it. Though, the B&N repartition is only half and half; doing it on your own you can get a lot more.
This is only for CM7 based roms though. CM9 does not have the internal memory mounting yet (I'm sure eventually it will).

Hmmm I need to search for a guide to mount the internal memory again.
I have done what the OP is thinking about doing on my Nook Tablet 16gb.
It works flawlessly but I don't see the internal memory when hooking the nook up to a PC. I just get an exclamation mark in my device manager. I can browse the internal memory through cm7, and it shows that I have nearly 12 gigs of free space on the device itself, but I cannot drop content from my pc on there.
/me searches how to mount internal memory
Try modifying your build.prop file as shown in this post
Unable to mount "/bootdata"
I got an error msg (Unable to mount "/bootdata") when performing 4. What did I do wrong? I use TWRP to backup the ROM on bootable SD Card.

If you are trying to backup stock ROM and then install CM internally on emmc, I'd suggest taking a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35669871 for info/pointers.

Thanks a million! The instructions are simple to follow and it just works! :victory:
I'm trying to get files (my photos mostly) off the internal storage of my Vibrant. I don't care about getting the Vibrant working again, just getting my files off it. I can get into recovery mode, but mounting usb storage *does not work*, even tried unplugging and replugging the phone but no dice. I can install zips from the sd card (though it takes 5x longer than normal) but any ROM I install, stock, cyanogen, slim, etc. won't actually finish booting.
Because USB mounting doesn't work, I'd like to use CWM to copy all the files on the internal storage to the sd card. Then I can put the sd in another computer and get the files off. In CWM I can do a backup to sd, but that doesn't backup photos, just the rom. Is there a way to generally copy files from internal to the sd using CWM?
Also, the entire time I'm in recovery mode my PC makes the sound for a usb device being connected and then disconnected, assume that has something to do with the Vibrant being generally busted.
In summary:
Trying to recover files from vibrant phone storage
Can't boot any regular ROM
Can get into CWM recovery
USB mount in CWM recovery *does not work*
Can install zip from sd card
Can backup to sd card
Have a spare working vibrant for charging battery
Any ideas?
Okay I'll see if I can help any. First of all, can you successfully use Odin to return to stock firmware? Have you even attempted using Odin?
Can try using recuva or there is another one too but the XDA search is missing right now. Moped_Ryder usually recommends that one that I can't remember right now, but once the search button is back, I'll let you know what it is. Works like a charm. Droid recover or Droid Files, ahh I can't think of it but there is a solution on here somewhere.
Try a program called Android Commander.
Ive transferred files in CWM with it all the time.
Agreed with android commander. It has always worked for me. There are other solutions too with these new kernels these days. You can download Devil kernel or subzero via PC(They both include new file manager in recovery).Put it on your external card, flash, reboot back into recovery. Mount your internal and external cards from mounts and storage menu. Go to file manager and copy/paste away.
I have tried various kernels and CWM versions but, over the last week, I haven't been able to get any version of CWM to flash zips stored on the internal memory. I select the zip, there is a short pause, then it goes back to the top level menu of CWM. I know it isn't the zip file being corrupt because, on more than one occasion to confirm, I have copied the zip which fails directly over to the external memory stick using USB mount in CWM and it then flashes fine from that.
Anyone else have this issue? It doesn't seem to effect any other aspect of the phone that I can see, every OS I flash boots fine and the internal memory can be copied to/from and examined either from a mount on a PC or applications like Root Explorer.
So no one else has had this issue?

Have you tried to format your SD?
Sent from my GT-I9300
Yup, formatted my internal SD card with no effect.
Strange to see this thread has been given a single star by someone when it's hardly an unreasonable question. Some people really are a bit odd.
For some reason after I installed a theme (jb domination) my sd suddenly became damaged!!
I cant see my sd if I connect my phone or via an sd reader, but I can see my images and listen to my music thats on my sd card, I cant navigate to it via file manager either...anyone have this and fix it before, Or eill i need to reformat and lose my data on my sd?

wont show up on my pc, i can see files in cwm though :S
I noticed that your using the siyah kernel, I''ve had a similar problem since using it. After installing a second Rom to the sdcard, the first Rom now says the sdcard is damged.
When I boot into the second Rom it works perfectly, no problems, but the first Rom can't even mount it and just says damaged.
I don't have any work around, but it may be helpful to have a possible cause.

Did you try accessing and move your files with root explorer? or removed jb domination?
or install Titanium backup --> backup all your apps and files (except jb domination ) and reflash a new rom with ODIN. afterwards restore your apps and files.
