older RUU and/or stock recovery file? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Hi! I have a phone with an unlocked bootloader, S-ON, that I am trying to get back to 100% stock. I have the 3.15.651.16 RUU, but for some reason, it will not detect my phone, without or without HTC Sync installed.
I simply flashed a stock unrooted ROM and its kernel via my custom recovery, but now I am unable to receive OTAs due to my custom recovery. I see two solutions here:
1) Use another RUU to wipe everything. I would prefer to do this, but since HTCRUU was taken down, I cannot find anywhere that has an RUU for this phone.
2) Flash the stock recovery.img via fastboot. This is fine, but I also am unable to locate this file anywhere.
Could anybody point me in the right direction?

Just extract the stock recovery.img from here *edit: stock recovery.img was not included. Just search over in Capt Throwbacks firmware thread in Android development.
As for the ruu I know there is a 3.15 floating around here somewhere...
Edit2 (cause I'm bored): here is the 3.15 ruu http://unlimited.io/downloads/dirtyracun/jewel/209/RUU.zip

You can get the RUU from here

Provided by jmz_taylor software, not the 3.16, or you can use VipeRuu in the android development thread

Get into Twrp
Press mount
Press usb storage
load a rom( I suggest MeanBean as it has a kernel installer for s-on folks) from your PC to your phone
once loaded unmount usb storage
go back to the main screen and press advanced wipe, make sure delvik cache/cache/data/system are checked
swipe to wipe
press install navigate to the rom you just loaded(read the OP for s-on install instructions)
once done flashing it should ask you to reboot
once it settles for a bit go back to twrp and MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP
enjoy

Thanks

help?

I have searched and found some answers but jumping around from post to post isn't helping me at all. I already rooted and flashed adrenaline rom to my phone. Yesterday i downloaded a rom and tried to flash it via the phone. now im stuck on the white HTC screen and i cant get off it. i cant install any rom and dont know what to do. i cant access any any backup rom.
Can anyone help Thanks
More details please. S-ON? Bootloader lock status? Firmware version? What rom were you trying to flash?
can you boot into hboot manually by pulling battery > putting the battery back in >holding the volume down button + power? This should boot you back to hboot. Once in hboot you should be able to access your recovery and wipe flash etc.

are you s-on or s-off also what firmware are you on? I assume you're on ics to have been able to boot adrenaline successfully.

I tried to go to venom rom. I had all the steps and everything was loading. got to pick what i didnt want installed finished install and after it installed i kept getting an error msg that stated something crashed ( i think is what it said) i could hit ok and that was it. it kept coming up and id hit ok a few times and reboot. same thing over and over. i came home plugged it into computer mounted it and put Scott's clean rom and it sits on a white HTC screen.
If i choose the recovery it reboots and sits on a black screen and will not let me into the recovery

sounds like your boot.img is not being flashed. Since you are s-on you have to do that. I'm not sure if the roms you have tried to flash do that automatically or not but take a closer look at how it is supposed to be flashed. In the old days the rom would create a ph98img.zip file and you would flash it in bootloader...OR you would use fastboot flash boot boot.img to accomplish the same thing. Make sure you are wiping before flashing.

if you are still s-on you will need to flash the kernel for the rom, the installer wont do it for you. what ever rom you are using, please download the correct kernel.

[q] need help evo lte screwed up

Okay I need help with my htc evo 4g lte. I tried flashing a new rom using twrp 2.5.0.0 and it didn't work because i'm s-on and i'm running hboot 2.09.0000 I've tried reading the dirtyRacun instructions on how to become s-off but they do not make sense to me moving foward my original back up of sense 4.1.1 got deleted by mistake now I do not have a rom to boot up to all I have is the twrp and that is it. I've tried looking for a PJ75IMG file which could work for my phone but I haven't come across one I've also tried looking for a RUU file which could help me out but still not luck and I also tried viperRuu still nothing. Is there anything I could do? Is it possible for someone to copy they're back up of sense 4.1.1 and put it on here in a link just so I can use my phone. I also tried using viper4G and my phone installs it fine and all but the touch screen doesn't work after then I used the CM10 rom flashed the boot.img using the cmd and installed it and the touch screen still didn't work. I'm completely lost. PLEASE can someone tell me there's still hope or should I just drop my phone into a cup of water and bring it to sprint and tell them it fell into the toilet because there's still insurance on the device?
(This is what my bootloader looks like)

So the problem here is that my Evo 3D GSM bootloops no matter what i flash. I can get in to HBOOT and Fastboot but can't get in to recovery, or boot a rom. I tried flashing various versions of cwm and 4EXT and none seem to work. I boot to HBOOT select recovery but it just goes back to bootlooping. Tried flashing various roms (had Viper3D for like a month and then one night it started bootlooping), even tried flashing a RUU multiple times but the bootloop goes on. And since that didn't help i unlocked again and downgraded HBOOT. For a period of time the phone didn't boot but that was because the battery is drained and can't charge when off, so I'm using a Desire X battery.
Before flashing RUU

Any ideas would be helpfull.
I don't know what ruu you need, but you need to make sure its right.
Then without hooking your phone up, run ruu on windows.
Let it load up, the go to run and type %temp%
In the window that pops up, look for the newest folder, that will contain a file named rom.zip drag it to your desktop.
Rename it pg86img.zip
Now, you need to get that file to the root of your sd card, use a card reader, another phone, something.
Make sure it is the only pg86img.zip on your card.
Once you have the pg86img.zip on your sd, put it back in your EVO, and boot to bootloader. Accept the update and it should do the rest.
Do no relock before you do this. It is not necessary.
When you finally get booted remove that file or rename it.
Hope that gets you going

Sorry for taking so long to reply, didn't have the time until now. I tried your method and it still didn't work
Though this I might try but I'm not too cozy with having to brick my device and i have no Linux experience. Not much else I can try...
Also is there a way to get back S-ON, because a while ago I sent the phone to repairs but they rejected my warranty because of s-off and revolutionary. Is my warranty still valid even if I revert back?
are you sure recovery is flashed ok? drivers may be the issue. try reinstalling drivers and running RUU or flashing recovery

[Q] Need to get back to stock, semi bricked...

I am sort of a noob when it comes to this stuff and I am having trouble returning the phone to stock.

I am able to unlock and relock the bootloader with no problem, and I can get into TWRP, but I cannot flash a rom that 1. finishes flashing or 2. boots at all. There is not currently a rom on the phone because I wiped it.
I don't know what I need to do at this point to get back to stock. I think I may need a 3.15 or 3.16 RUU.exe to make it work but I can't find a link to one. I downloaded an older RUU.exe and it started the process but it threw an error code and said I had to download a different version.
What do I do from here? I can't seem to get the phone to s-off either because I don't understand what to do.

I have downloaded that but I am having trouble getting s-off... can I obtain s-off from the bootloader? I have a Windows 7 64x computer
I used moonshine
Sent from my EVO using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You will need to unlock your bootloader before you do anything else. Until you can get your phone to boot you won't be able to use Moonshine. You need to get your phone working first. Follow the steps in the guide in the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2443108
I suggest downloading MeanBean ROM. It has a kernel installer built in to it to facilitate flashing while S-on. From recovery, flash the ROM zip once and reboot to system. The phone should boot to the HTC splash screen, then back to recovery. Flash the ROM zip again and reboot & you should be good to go. Once you're up and running you can proceed to Moonshine:thumbup:
Your issue is the fact that you are currently S-on. On the newer Hboot's (1.15+) the kernel must be flashed separately from the ROM, otherwise your phone won't boot. Once you gain S-off this won't be an issue. For more info click the link in my sig.

ALL RUUs fail - Hboot 1.15 - TWRP recovery and Fastboot is all I can do

I was migrating from an older HTC LTE to a different one due to a cracked screen. I tried to use one nandroid from one to the other.. This failed. I believe it was due to partition sizes being different (that is guess based on what is coming).
Since then I have tried many different RUUs each fail to finish with a 159 error.
Here are the RUUs I have tried:
Code:
RUU_JEWEL_CL_ICS_40_Sprint_WWE_1.12.651.2_Radio_1.02.11.0423_2_NV_SPCS_2.28_003_release_257970_signed.exe

RUU_JEWEL_CL_ICS_40_Sprint_WWE_1.22.651.3_Radio_1.05.11.0606_NV_SPCS_2.45_003_release_268323_signed.exe
RUU_JEWEL_CL_JB43_SENSE50_MR_Sprint_WWE_4.13.651.4_Rƒ?Ýigned_one_step.exe

Manually I can fastboot and flash the boot image.
Trying to flash system gives me an error about the img being too big.
Is there any way to force the partitions to resize? Or what are the next steps?

Thanks in advance. At this point I just want to get a out of the box rom to load so the phone can boot. Do not even care about root or anything other than booting a rom.
Rick
Since you are s-on you need to re-lock your bootloader.
I assume you mean I need to unlock (S-OFF) the phone? I am not sure why to flash a RUU? Or are you suggesting something else?
Crazy, strange that I never knew that you had to be S-ON to flash an RUU. Seems like a stupid requirement. It is flashing now, getting much farther, so I guess it should work this time.
Thanks for the heads up!

You don't have to be s-on to flash an RUU but you do have to re-lock the bootloader.
How can I get my hboot to 2.10 to work with windroid? Have no root boot loader loocked on a HTC evo 4g lte. Just learning how to do all this hope to root my m8 later on
